I didn't realize this was a sports bar type environment, so I think the waitstaff thought it was a little odd we came in to eat and not drink. But we had good service and our orders came out pretty fast! As far as the food goes, it was pretty standard. The fries are the real reason to go here (or if you're wanting a place to hang with friends and drink). Loved the spicy seasoning and the only thing that would have made them better is if the parsley was fresh, not dried. The rest of our food was average. I did really like the flavor of the burger. I give The Tap three stars for environment and main entrees and four stars for the fries. read more

Another great place in Indy. Pretty large bar with plenty of indoor seating and also have outdoor area with fire pit. Stays busy but they have plenty of friendly and helpful servers. Large selection of beers to choose from. The food was really good and it did not cost an arm and a leg. Plenty of large screen TV's. Great place to watch sports and have a good time. My wife and I shared their Turkey & Cranberry Club served with fries (Very good) along with a Margarita Pizza (we only finished half of it) Thin Crust Well made pizza with Balsamic Drizzle. It's all about the fries and the drinks at The Tap! The fry appetizer is a must with four different dipping sauces. The tenderloin is also pretty delicious, but after the big basket of fries, I was pretty full. Whether it's just for a drink and an appetizer or a meal, The Tap is excellent. read more

This is a nice restaurant in downtown Indianapolis. It has the most beers on tap that I have ever seen. They have something for everyone. It is a fun a trendy place. They have an outdoor patio and indoor dining area. There is metered street parking in the vicinity of the bar, but the city's street are so torn up right now that is is hard to navigate. The bar has television all over. There are 6 at the bar alone. The menu has your typical pub type food. However some of them are with a twist such as the Mac n Cheese burger. I ordered the burnt ends grilled cheese with some fries. The sandwich was so unique. I had to get it. It was pretty good. I just wish the burnt ends were more burned. The server/bartender, Elle, was awesome. She had a lot of ground to cover but still gave me enough attention. She was also very friendly and courteous. This is a good place to catch the big game, hang out with friends, have date night, or just get a quick bite to eat. They have some good food, excellent service and awesome drinks. read more

This is my second time coming here and overall the food, drinks, and atmosphere is great. The white peach sangria is amazing!! I love the firecracker shrimp appetizer so I ordered the tacos this time but was not impressed with the combination of flavors. For me, the toppings did not go well with the spicy shrimp. I love the tap! Located on the end of Mass Ave - it's a perfect places to meet with friends or family for drinks or dinner. Bonus you get to watch all the sports or hear live music! I came in on a Saturday midday. It was busy but able to find a table. Tip it's seat your self. We found on in nestled in the back past the bar. The place is larger than it seems. We ordered cheese curds for appetizer (it was so good my friends ate them so fast I couldn't snap a picture!). Then we all had burgers. My favorite is the beer cheese burger and you can't forget tap fries! There sauces are to die for. Service is great and speedy. Parking can be difficult since you have to park on the street but there is a garage on Delaware (just more expensive). Highly recommend a visit! read more

We were hungry and their kitchen stays open late, so we decided to eat at The Tap, a sports bar restaurant with over 70 tap beers. When we first walked in, it was a bit overwhelming, as it is very huge, very loud, and very busy during games. There are 4 large areas plus a nice outdoor patio with fire pits. We found a clean table in back and sat down. There are TVs everywhere, even in the restrooms, many broadcasting different content. The sound for the basketball game was being played at full volume throughout the bar. I needed earplugs while the main game was on, especially during commercials, but after it was over and they switched to music on the P.A., I took out my earplugs. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly a server came to our table, considering how busy they were. They are very good at their jobs here. We saw many employees working hard to clean tables quickly after they were vacated. Our beers and food also came out fast, and everyone was happy with what they ordered. We all enjoyed the dill pickle fries. I had the beer cheese Mac and oh man, that was some tasty Mac. The green onions, toasted bread crumbs and beer cheese really add something. And it was like 2 pounds of food! I had enough for two meals. Kiddo had the teriyaki salmon and Brussels sprouts, and DH had the black bean burger, which was just ok. He would try something else next time. I got a flight of their house beers, and wasn't expecting much, but I quite liked all of them, especially the Beardliner Weisse and the Porter. Every time I visit The Tap on Mass everything is always phenomenal! The servers I've experienced are always fast and attentive and they have open seating which I love. They also have a beautiful patio to enjoy on a nicer day :) I usually will get the Pretzel Sticks+Beer cheese for a snack , they're very good never too hard and the cheese always comes out at the perfect temperature. Their Firecracker Shrimp Tacos do it for me every time, they are so good! The sweet potato fries are delicious I think their fries are good period. The only drinks I've tried thus far is their Long Island... very good! Lemon drop shot.... Strong but good lol Black Raspberry mule... It was okay definitely a required taste I'd give it a 3/5 I just prefer sweeter drinks. Definitely Recommend trying it's a great social spot. read more

I stopped in with a group of friends on NYE when 16bit had a lonnnggg line to get in. We were looking for a more relaxed way to count down to midnight and ring in the new year. The Tap was right next door, had no wait and lots of comfortable seating. Their selection is huge and I appreciated seeing a few cider options since I'm not a big beer fan. We didn't order any food, but some passing plates looked pretty good. We weren't sure what kind of event they were having for NYE but there was some live music playing when we arrived, they switched to New Year's Rocking Eve on the TVs after, and then handed out free champagne toasts just before midnight. This place is really fun. The environment is really lively and the food and drinks are great. It's in such a great location downtown and the indoor/outdoor setup is great. My girlfriends and I were trying to find a fun place to celebrate a perfect fall day We were looking for a fun new place, that none of us had been to, close to the action downtown...and The Tap did NOT disappoint. My friends found street parking pretty easily, I chose to park in the retail shopping lot for free across the street next to Rise and Roll. There was a "seat yourself" sign when I got there so I found a table on the patio. There was ample seating, but the bar stool seating was a little high for my 5'3" frame so we found a smaller table with regular chairs. It was loud, as to be expected. Peddle bars, bachelorette parties, cars reving engines, car alarms, sirens, etc... I think when you choose to sit and eat outside in downtown Indy you should expect that. Our server, David, was awesome. Our food was awesome. They were great at accommodating my non-dairy requests. I got my hamburger, tater tots and a Papa Smurf rum drink for $25.00 pre-tip. Went to the tap today and we had a huge group. They were able to get us settled in super quick and before we knew it we had waters and ordered appetizers. I come here often on Fridays after work with friends to unwind from the week. But I was especially excited to come for the Tap O Lantern beer that is seasonal for Fall. This beer is such a good combination with the cinnamon y, brown sugared rim. Food was also good and we got our normal Tap fries and pretzel sticks. Giving 3 stars since our service was not good, we had a hard time finding her the majority of the night and she was not friendly or helpful. You have to come early (around 5pm) to get a good seat as this place gets packed quickly. We came to The Tap to celebrate a family birthday lunch. The birthday brother had selected this place as he was familiar with the Bloomington restaurant. They don't do reservations but for a 1:00 lunch there was no wait at all. Our server Tessa was very friendly and attentive and we were served promptly and got helpful tips from our server to get us started. We shared an order of fried green beans and they were amazing. We also shared an order of Tap fries with the 4 dipping sauces. They were crispy and sauces quite tasty. We then shared a bowl of firecracker shrimp that was great. I can recommend the love spice cocktail which had just the right amount of spice. I ordered the lunch special beef sliders that were just the right size after all those appetizers and quite tasty. They came with a side of house chips. We had to celebrate the birthday with some dessert of course and decided on the cookie skillet. I have always enjoyed the food at The Tap and today was no exception! They always have good quality food and a cozy environment. My favorite is ALWAYS the tap fries with garlic aioli (fellow garlic girls, MUST HAVE). I have also always heard amazing things about the beer, I just am not a beer drinker so can't speak on that. :) The staff has always been very kind and helpful, but today was quite slow. It was a Saturday when we were there, however, they are normally really quick regardless. I also thought that our water tasted weird which has never happened before. Things to think about: it's located in downtown Bloomington so parking can be hard depending on when you're there and the seating fills up quickly most days. Overall, would recommend! read more

My husband and I visited The Tap on a recent Friday afternoon. Our server was Ashley and she was attentive and knowledgeable. We started out with a flight of four beers, This is the Way, a pilsner, Nefarious Nectar, a Belgian blonde, Choconazza, a Hefeweizen, and Brewberry Crunch, a pale wheat. They were all very good but my favorite was the Nefarious Nectar. We then ordered the Tap Fries with the four dipping sauces. So good! My partner and I ordered takeout last night ! He got the mac n cheese burger and fries, I got the BBQ mahi tacos with chips. The online ordering was a little confusing as it didn't really state what the entrees side was. We ended up ordering extra fries just in case. The food was on the pricey side for what we got. The BBQ mahi tacos came with two tacos. I thought they were excellent. They would definitely have been better fresh, I think. The sauce on them was very flavorful. My partner said his burger was good, but would have also been better fresh. The sauce that came with the fries was a real winner ! Our experience at this Tap was so so. I have a special place in my heart for the Tap because it was one of our favorite spots in Bloomington. We came to this one downtown to watch the IU game. Service was pretty meh. I will say, their apps are great! We got the pickles, fries, and pretzel sticks. They are all really good and great for sharing at the table. The entrees were pretty meh. The firecracker shrimp tacos were not as good as I remember. The way they build the taco makes it hard to eat. The shrimp is on top, and below is the cabbage and cheese kind of all smashed together. I was a fan of The Tap in Bloomington, and my first visit to the Indianapolis location continues the trend! They're open until 2am on weekends, so it was the perfect spot for my friend group to land after a night out. The variety of beer, cider, and seltzer means there's something for everyone to try. They also have cocktails, a differentiator from the Bloomington location (probably easier to get a three way liquor license here). The food is always great. I loved the Smoky Ghost burger of the month, though I'd argue it's even better in flatbread pizza form! What truly set our experience apart on Saturday was the service. The Tap is located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis but i had never been there until now- and that was a mistake to not try this place sooner! In short, I'm in love with their Angus sliders. I don't drink much, so I was there for food only- and the experience was great. and that's why I recommend this place to those who just don't drink at all. The only disappointment was that they were out of iced tea- I would get it if it was close to their closing time, but as it was still early evening I wish they would make more ice tea if they had run out earlier that day :( for non-alcoholic drinker who don't like soda, iced tea is a holy grail. My friends had burgers but for both of them the cheese in the sandwich came with a wrapper (thin paper or plastic) -which is never cool that food has inedible material in it. the server apologized and said he would report it to the kitchen. It has great trivia nights, live music, fabulous outdoor seating, enough TVs you don't need to search for a "good spot" and ample space if the front section gets too busy (it also has a private event space). I always enjoy the pizza (I usually opt for a traditional Margherita or Pepperoni) and the Dill Pickle Fries. My favorite beer is the Nefarious Nectar, but they also have a selection of wines and a cocktail menu - which I just discovered. A great place to watch the game, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a beer on a nice, sunny day. I do thoroughly enjoy this place. They have an incredible beer selection, great service, and really good food. They even have a graph for the analytically minded that shows you bitterness, alcohol content, and price. You can decide where you fall on the graph and order accordingly. My personal agenda with beer is to avoid bitterness and cost but for alcohol content. This lands me on the nefarious nectar and I couldn't recommend it enough . Also, their fries and dipping sauces are A+. But I'm a salad guy and I most recently got the southwest salad with salmon instead of chicken. It was pretty darn good. The fish especially - it had a tangy taste instead of a fishy taste. I give the salad an A-. As a connoisseur of salads, I believe that the three absolutely necessary ingredients of a good salad are 1) greens, 2) dressing, and 3) crunch. This salad was amazing but had zero crunch. I had asked for a sample of the new beer, which I liked, but our server never returned to ask if I wanted to order one. My friend's salad wasn't made correctly but neither the person who delivered the food nor our server stopped by to check and see if our food was ok. The server did stop by much later. As for the food, the Tap Fries were excellent and served with four house-made dipping sauces: beer cheese, chipotle ranch, sun dried tomato pesto, and Parmesan garlic aioli. The beer cheese and the sun dried tomato pesto were our favorites. Definitely I would recommend My black bean burger was really tasty. I had asked our server if the burger was house made, which it was, so I ordered it and I wasn't disappointed. However, the bun tasted very stale so I took it off the burger. It was served with tortilla chips and what the menu stated was house-made salsa. The salsa looked and tasted like it came from a jar, not much flavor and the appearance definitely did not look like fresh house-made. Maybe they ran out of house-made salsa and had to resort to opening a jar but it was disappointing. The tortilla chips were stale. Overall it wasn't a bad experience and I will come here again. The Tap is such a great spot to hang out with friends, grab a drink on a date, or watch a game. We went during Devour Indy and they had a great menu option for Devour. The Tap Fries are always a solid option. Their beer cheese burger was phenomenal. And their cookie skillet was killer too. Their beer prices can be a bit expensive compared to suburbs of Indy, but are probably pretty normal downtown. The Tap actually has a few of their own brews on tap, and there's always at least 1 that is very solid and a few bucks cheaper than the rest of their beer list (which is a stellar list BTW). Service is always great. Our server was new and she seemed well trained. And there are always other servers everywhere, which makes for an easy experience. read more

The Tap is a classic go-to bar for great food and a beer with friends. Both the Bloomington and Indianapolis locations are great, I've always had fantastic service, and the workers are so friendly to dogs. My favorite dish is their Chick a Chick a Boom Boom wrap! Chicken is nicely crunchy with a nice punch of flavor. Love. You also can't go wrong with their appetizers-- Sweet Thai chili wings and their fries are my go to's. Their outdoor fire pits are perfect for these upcoming spring nights, and I recommend the tap trivia on Tuesdays. Hard to hear from the outside though, plan on sitting inside for it! read more
