I first came to this shop a little over a year ago for a Friday the 13th event and got tattooed by Vinh--and I've been coming back ever since! What started as a small flash tattoo turned into an incredible creative journey. After that first experience, I decided to work with Vinh on a deeply meaningful piece dedicated to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. He was so engaged, compassionate, and intentional in understanding the heart behind the design. The final result was absolutely stunning--so much so that it inspired me to continue working with him over the past 13 months to complete an entire sleeve. I have heard good things about this particular tattoo parlor and so I went in and made an appointment with Tibo. A week later, my artwork was drawn up and I was in getting it put on my arm. My last artist moved out of state so I was on a hunt for someone local to me with a good reputation. I'm so lucky to have found The Tattoo Room. Very clean, very relaxed atmosphere with very experienced artists. I had my first tattoo done last week by Joey Fisher. He was very nice, a wonderful artist and did exactly what I was hoping for. I really liked all the info he gave me about what to expect in the healing process and care from his tattooing style. Really great guy all around! My daughter and I will definitely be back and are looking forward to getting more work from Joey as well as Danielle, Heather, Hana and Tonya! This place is WAAAAY better than you would assume for being in Simi. You really don't have to go to NoHo for solid work. I took my 16 y/o daughter here for her first ear piercing, and Trish treated her great! We've already recommended Trish to several people who've gone in. My 4 1/2-year-old and I got our ears pierced today. My daughter was so excited to get her first earrings, and Andi was absolutely amazing with her and walked her through every step. She even let my daughter pierce a teddy bears ears and take it home. She was kind and gentle. She goes above and beyond to make sure her clients are taken care of. This review is both for The Tattoo Room, as well as their artist, Vinh. I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with both. 3 out of my 8 tattoos have been at The Tattoo Room, which I think says something. The shop is always relaxed, welcoming and they play some great tunes. Most importantly, it's clean and the staff is really professional. I noticed there is a horrible comment about the shop and Vinh. I'm not sure what's up her butt, but her review seems to be coming from a vindictive place, not from a rational, reliable experience. I realize I wasn't there for her appointment, but seeing as I've been in the shop more than once, and I've been tattooed by both Vinh and Heather, I can't really take her review seriously. First of all, definitely no blood anywhere in sight, and $100 for a tattoo is pennies!! I'm also trying to imagine the staff being uninviting or unprofessional...but Vinh being cold and unwelcoming to a potential customer, well, I honestly CAN'T imagine it. Vinh in fact is one of the sweetest, kindest, most inclusive people, but what do I know, Ive only known him for a decade. Anywhooo, in my opinion, The Tattoo Room is a hidden gem. She called the next day to cancel the appointment which again was for over 3 weeks away and they said they would not give back the $50 deposit. Then when i went to call a few days later the disrespectful guy on the phone said and i quote"Hey Man, F*** You!" then hung up!. I own my own successful business and i would never treat a potential customer in that manner especially over something silly like a $50 deposit. I will not remove this review for I was cussed out and hung up on. I did indeed ask if you were in the business of thievery. I love love loooove this place. Everyone that works there is super friendly and are fantastic at their jobs. And upon walking in, you don't get that uncomfortable sketched out feeling whatsoever! Anyway. I have three tattoos, all done by Nick. Two of mine are little cutesy tattoos (minnie mouse ears and a fox. totally love them!) but my third is a portrait of my rabbit on my foot and Nick freakin' blew it out of the water. It's ten million times better than I imagined it to be. It definitely captures my rabbit's cute little quirks and characteristics. I couldn't be happier! I am the proud owner of a sweeeeet as hell tattoo, that's for sure! I have to say that the artists here really, really care about the work that they put into a tattoo/their clients and that is SO important these days! Nick suggested that I get a numbing cream for my foot so that I wouldn't twitch all of the place and ruin my tattoo. And thank goodness for that because it really helped relive some of the pain, especially since I have such bony feet. Got touch ups done here with Kelsey, who had previously done work on me at another shop. Even though she was just darkening the ink already on me, scheduling was easy and convenient, and she's improved greatly! Very satisfied with the results too. As for the location it was clean, well organized, and there was some cool punk rock playing in the background which I personally appreciated. The client chair I sat in was missing arms and so a standalone arm rest was used, which worked alright but could've been more comfortable with one built in. Here's hoping they got that replaced. I briefly met the manager too, and she seemed chill and down to earth but was going out the door. Anyway I'd return for sure when ready for fresh ink! read more

YESSS. Okay, so have you ever walked into a shop and wanted to turn right back around after everyone behind the counter seemingly knitted their brows and puffed out their chests in unison? Well, this is not that kind of place. I walked into The Tattoo Room and was greeted by Vinh, who was super welcoming and seemed genuinely stoked to bring the little idea I had to life. He searched through their entire schedule in an attempt to accommodate my poor time-management skills (I am moving out of state in a few weeks and waited until the last dang minute, as per usual), and actually ended up offering to tattoo me same day, as he'd had a cancellation- So cool of him. The dude is kindness and fun personified! He had us laughing the entire time, and he did SUCH a good job on my tattoo. He took the illustration I brought in and really turned it into something beautiful, and I am beyond pumped on it. The shop was super clean and very professional. This place is a joke, the one guy that tattoos here at this place over a few months ago wanted to charge me an arm and leg to do a cover up on my ribs. (Which I've heard from other people that this place is known for doing that when they don't want to do a tattoo, which is so disgusting! Thank god I gave my money and time to someone who did want to do it!) They were super unfriendly when I went it. The owner wouldn't even talk to me nor look at me and help. The only nice employee that seemed to care and help was Trish! I am so happy she left this place she deserves much better than this. I would never recommend my friends to go here.
