This used to be a great dive bar however they have hired a male waiter and the guy is driving away business. He was rude to us and acted like he was too good to serve us. He treated our small party like trash and we decided to leave. My advice - get rid of this man-child and get back to what made this a place worth visiting on a weekend. read more

Tav is all refreshed and has some great food. The Carnitas tacos are excellent. Fish tacos yummy. Great chips and salsa, burgers and sandwiches. To me it still feels like a "bar" and I wish it was a little brighter and more open. That great view of the runway and all. Coming along nicely! read more

Was referred to The Tav by friends that live close to here. It's an incredible bar with amazing food. The portion sizes are very large so be prepared to share! We called in an order for football Sunday and was surprised to be told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Their wings are big and a large selection of sauces to choose from. We had the honey hot and the horseradish hot. Both were amazing (although the honey hot didn't have much heat). They were starting karaoke the night I went and her selection was pretty good. She got the crowd going. What was great is half the bar is one section bar with sports and darts so meanwhile the other half was loud and signing their hearts out. My friend took me to this bar in Thurs night. The parking lot was packed and some were forced to park further out of the parking lot. The bar was of course packed. It gives the dive bar atmosphere. One side of the bar was hosting trivia. Although it was packed, we were able to get a booth and the server came to take orders right away. I had wings with honey chipotle. I was not that hungry but the sauce was so good and I ended up eating all 12 wings. Nachos has chopped steak on the top (not ground meat). They also have build-your-own grilled cheese sandwich. We had dinner here tonight and it did not disappoint! The place is smaller and the parking lot doesn't have a ton of spaces but don't let that fool you. Love the vibe. Awesome music playing. Plenty of TVs to watch. The service was stellar. Food was amazing...honestly the best wings I've had in YEARS. So many flavors, made them extra crispy, they were perfect. And I recommend their drunken fries...omg yum. I don't get the low star reviews, don't let those sway you. I 100% recommend this place if you like the bar atmosphere and bar food. Drove to The Tav from Peoria to play Team Trivia on Saturday evening. The website said it started at 7:00pm WRONG, it started at 7:30. Even most of the signs in the restaurant were wrong, (including the one on the table) said 7:00pm, and a few on the wall said 7:30pm. Make up your mind! Then, as per their website, after 8:00pm they have a wing special, 12 wings for $6 (http://www.tav.bar/img/1.jpg). So I thought I would have wings for dinner. The waitress informed me they don't do that anymore. Seriously? Has anyone bothered to update the website? Speaking of the waitress.... Even though I sat down at a table at 6:45 (remember, I thought Trivia started at 7:00), The waitress didn't bother to come over and see what I wanted until 6:59. When I tried to order an appetizer from the Happy Hour (Lazy Weekend Menu), she told me "Sorry, that ended at 7:00." Prime example of a dive bar. Very chill atmosphere. Go here for karaoke! The DJ is great and you will get through the rotation plenty of times. Service was very fun and a touch irreverent. I think there was only one woman serving the whole restaurant so it was forgivable that service was slightly on the slow side. My husband is craving their nachos as well as their fish and chips. I normally would give this place a 5 star rating. Today was not a good day to experience The Tav. I love their food, it's always great. We walked in at 1205 sat down. We waited about 5 min to be greeted and drink order taken and to be given menus. Then another 10 min to take our order. By 1245 everyone around us had received their food. There was no communication at al during this time... I finally pulled out my card and started tapping it. Another lady not our server came over and asked if I was ready to pay. I said yeah and we would like our food boxed up. Our server came over took my card and closed us out, no communication about what happened to our food or how much longer it was going to be... shady I tipped zero because there was no apology, no discount, no let me make it right. I am from the industry and under being busy and overwhelmed, but I also understand the power in communication. Lesson of the day, is be honest with your customer and always try to make it right. What a joke this place is. Me and my buddies stopped in there last Thursday to grab something to eat on our way to the Cards/Vikings game. The service was super slow even though we told the waitress we were in a hurry. We got there around 4:15 and it took her half an hour to get to us. We ordered wings from the happy hour menu and a couple beers and iced tea for the guy that was driving. I don't think the waitress smiled the whole time we were there. She acted like it was a chore to wait on us. We had to get going and the waitress took my buddy Phil's card and brought him the check. He signed it, stuffed the receipt in his wallet and we left. When we got to the game we asked Phil what we owed him and he looked at the check. The poor excuse we had for a waitress charged us $86 for five beers, two iced teas and two dozen wings. The wings were supposed to be $6.00 each per dozen on Happy Hour and we didn't think a couple Coors Lites and a couple Bud's could be more than $5.00 each. The waitress never brought us a check either. I guess because we didn't look like the trailer trash that was at the bar the waitress must have though we were rich. These ass wipes are nothing but liars and thieves. If this is how they treat customers they are not going to have any business. There isn't a lot around them and I don't see how they can afford to rob people, treat them like shit and lie. read more

The only reason I am giving this a three star is because the first experience here. But the second time that I came here with my family the girl that was helping us was clearly a jealous person. So first a table bought us a round (bar tender never brought drinks) second we were hanging out with a super cool group of guys we met, playing darts having a good time. We showed up at 9:50 and by 10:30 had three drinks. The bar tender then approached my sister and asked if she wants another drink to witch she says yes...the bar tender then goes to tell her how she needs to drink water first and that we have drank too much. Again the bar tender approached us to ask if we wanted more drinks. We did not approach her and no one was out of control. The people we met also were only there for their 2nd time and said how amazing it was the first time and that whatever was going on tonight left a bad taste in the mouth. I get people getting to drunk or crazy at bars, pushing bar tenders for drinks but the bar tender or waitress or whatever came to us asking if we wanted more drinks then went and berated us. It was petty and gross behavior. I thought we may have found our local dive bar but my last experience made me feel judged and mislead. read more

First time visit and I'll be back... for a dive bar - the food exceeded my expectations! Boyfriend enjoyed his brat sliders and liked the horseradish sauce that came on the side. I had the BLAT. Crispy bacon is my fave but the sandwich lacked a little bit in the mayo or saucy area - but adding a side of ranch or just some ketchup and mustard- it's sooo yummy! We've been here several times before in the past, but this morning on July 24th 2017 we came in for breakfast and a Bud Light at 10 a.m. After me and my wife had a long night working night shift, the staff refuse to serve us, because they felt like we had been drinking somewhere else, when in fact we just busted our asses all night long! We will never come back to this establishment and I cannot emphasize enough the amount of disgust that I felt at being refused service. We have gone as far as installing the app for this restaurant and giving it 5 Star reviews in the past, but we will never, ever come back to this establishment ever again! read more

I like this place for cheap beer and strong drinks. Stay away from the food if you are sober. I ordered the big 8 piece fish platter and ate 2 pieces. Worst fish batter. It tasted like chemicals and I think the cook really was not a cook. The onion rings and fries were delivered cold. My friend ate half of her burger because it sucked so bad. The half-baked server didn't say anything about why we were not eating our food. So I guess she doesn't give a crap or is unsympathetic to notice we didn't eat much. I should have known this place was not going to serve edible lunch when the menus were sticky and I should have stopped when red flags were hitting my brain.
