I went there to bring my iPad to get the screen fixed. Upon my arrival, they told me they didn't have any more screens in stock. I asked them how long would it take for a screen to be shipped to their shop, and they said it should come in 7-10 business days and from then they should be able to fix the screen a day later if not the same day. After that, I called numerous times to try and see if my iPad was fixed, but every time I call the line is "busy." I never received a phone call back, I had to drive over to the shop to check the progress on my iPad. They weren't finished and I had to go back later to pick up my device. So my dad's computer had some virus and he had no clue where the system recovery disk was. I would usually try to restore it myself but I know he had been wanting to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 anyways so I took this as the opportunity to get the upgrade. Although I was trying to be thoughtful, it turned into a mistake that I took his computer here of all places... I dropped it off on a Sunday and they were trying to convince me to pay more to retrieve old files in which I declined. The guy told me he could have it done by approximately Wednesday. I told him he has until Friday evening in which he said that should have been more than enough time to restore it and install Windows 7 (or so he thought)... On Tuesday I checked my voicemail and I got a message from the Tech Center on Monday. A guy asked if I wanted to retrieve old files for extra money and that he won't work on it until I call him back to confirm the old info would be wiped... HOW ANNOYING!! I called back and he was giving me an attitude like it was MY PROBLEM he wasn't the guy I spoke with on Sunday and THAT GUY didn't note it. Well I'm sorry you guys need to all learn how to communicate and note shit better. Anyways I gave him the thumbs up to wipe the info and fix it... By Friday I still haven't heard from Tech Center so I called them. The girl who answered asked for my name... twice... and I even spelled it for her... then she puts someone else on... their manager... ohh the amount of colorful words that come to mind right about now... So he tells me that yesterday/Thursday they discovered that their Windows 7 installation disk was scratched or not working for whatever reason and they had just contacted their corporate to send them a new one WTFFFF! and he told me I can come get it and bring it back whenever it comes in. DUDE DOES IT LOOK LIKE I HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD TO WASTE ON YOUR DAMN SHOP?!?!? Apparently in his opinion he felt that he was being extremely helpful to me... Notice how I had to call them to find out such annoying news. Imagine if I didn't make the initiative to call in!!! I would have wasted a trip there -_-' They didn't even bother to inform me when they found out their stupid Windows 7 install disk had issues... And then on Saturday I came to demand for the tower back and it was a different guy there so I didn't want to yell at him. He wasn't the one I'm beefing... One star can't even depict how horrible this place is! If there was a negative 10 i would choose it! Took my phone here for repair and it was fully working with the exception of a cracked front screen. Hours and hours later i came back to a phone that was completely useless! the screen wont display anything anymore and they pretty much just told me to scoot and be on my way and they can't do anything about it. They know that their technician did something bad and broke it in the process of replacing the screen. To be sure i took it to another place that does micro component repairs and sure enough i have a result in less than an hour. 3 of the components that make the display work was completely torn off the board. Were they using jungle knives to open these things up? Bunch of cavemen! Oh and do not sign anything they give to you! I was really happy with the QUOTE feature on their website for Montclair. I was able to reply and receive further information from the person emailing me. The price to replace the battery was $50 and even though that is much more expensive than the mail in services, I felt it was worth it to be able to walk in and WAIT for the repair. Turned out to be a good thing I did that. THEY DO NOT CHARGE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TO GIVE AN ACCURATE REPAIR QUOTE BEFORE THEY DO ANYTHING THAT WILL COST YOU MONEY. That means that the tech guy opened my phone up, cleaned stuff like contacts, tried the new battery...which DID NOT FIX IT...tried adding a new charging port...which ALSO DID NOT FIX IT...checked everything possible to TRY AND FIX IT FOR ME before he delivered the sad news that my iPhone was indeed DEAD and unfixable. Before determining the TERMINAL STATUS of my phone, he told me the cost to replace the charging port would be the same as battery...$50. I asked how much EXTRA to just put the new battery and he said the TOTAL cost to replace both would be $60...only $10 extra to have a new battery AND new charging port...IF IT HAD FIXED IT! I thought that was very fair and would have been a great idea since it was an old phone with original old battery! Because he could NOT FIX my phone THERE WAS NO CHARGE. Since I had such great service from The Tech Center when I had issues with my iphone. I thought i'd bring my crashed computer there also, to see if they could recover any of my data. Upon dropping it off, I was told it was $75 by a guy who was not as friendly, nor as competent as the guys i had dealt with as before. I asked him a series of questions, "In your opinion, is it worth it for me to spend money on a new hard drive for my 4 year old computer, or do you think i should just buy a new one?" To this he responded with a lot of subject changing, hmms, and general confusion. WTF?!?! I wanted your opinion. At the end of the whole ordeal, he told me it was a 50% chance that there would be no data recovered. I told him there is a 50% chance i would not be paying him. He was able to recover a few folders of pictures, about 10gb of the 100+gb i had lost. He was very dismissive. Acted like, yup all i got was this, too bad. A simple, "I tried everything i could and worked for hours trying to regain your data and could only come up with this. I am sorry that all of your data was lost." would have been excellent, but NO! Just a, "Here's your crap, give me $75. I suggested that they should charge varied amounts dependent on the amount of data they recovered and he laughed as he took my $75. But the reason for my 2 star update: I went home and researched a little more on failed hard drives and how to fix them. I read that if you freeze the hard drive over night, you are sometimes able to recover data. So i did that, AND IT WORKED!!! I was able to recover about 85% of my data. Including the files the people at the tech center said they couldn't recover. It's a little frustrating i paid $75 for nothing. Overall: These guys are great for iphone repairs. Not so great for computer repairs. And a side note: They put up this atrocious faux wall with blown up pictures of electronics on it. I call and ask if they can replace my screen on a Samsung Note 2. They ask if it's just the screen and what's the color. I have a black phone and yes its just the screen. A guy says yes we have one screen in stock and the price is $140 come in and lets see what we can do for you. I come in 1 hour later and the guy tells me there's only one person who works here who can replace the screen and he's only here on Wednesdays and because he's so filled with work we would have to call you back so as to let you know if we can fit you in. He says we have a screen in stock but I don't know if it's reserved for anyone else. I'm told if I pay half the cost it will reserve me the screen BUT they can't guarantee it will be replaced this week or the next. He says this process takes 4 hours would you like to leave me your phone?....No I'm not going to pay a deposit for that screen that's probably reserved for someone else. So I drove from Green River road to the Tyler mall so they can waste my gas and time. If you know you can't do the job over the phone just say so..Very unprofessional and disorganized. Wish I had read reviews before going there. I took my iPhone 6 here, it had water damage. They tell me its going to be $75. Okay cool, 2-3 days. Came in on Thursday. So the days go by and I'm getting antsy but on Saturday they call me telling me that I'll need a screen replacement, ok cool expected. Total is going to be $120. I tell them its fine go right ahead, so they call me later on Sunday afternoon telling me my phone is fixed and ready to pick up. Awesome. I said no and took it to a buddy of mine who said they just didn't plug my camera back in. 2 Months later my screen stoped working and I went back there because of their 3 month guarantee and they said that I had water damage. I don't remember dropping it in water or geting it close to any kind of moisture. They said they scrub off the residue for $60 and replace my screen for another $80 and that the 3 month guarantee would not cover any of it. The Tech Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Montclair mall near the JCPenney. I called first to get a quote to fix a common problem on the iphone 4, which is the power/sleep button was not functioning / stuck. I was able to get a quote quickly and over the phone. The quote I was given was $45 to get the power button unstuck, and $80 if they have to replace it (if they have to replace it, they would not know until they opened up the phone, obviously). The person at the desk was very helpful and said that it was okay for me to walk in and get it fixed right away, which he did after fixing another phone from someone who came in before me. The tech apologized profusely for not being able to get to my phone right away, but it was because he was the only tech at the time and there were customers walking in and picking up their phones. The tech was very helpful and fixed it quickly, even though I was being quite demanding in wanting to have my phone fixed right away. :-D The price is a little more than what I would have liked to have paid, but then again: 1) It's better than having to try and make an appointment at the apple store, then wait a couple of days to have them try and fix it (if they even would) and have them most likely charge me more than $45 (probably even more than $80) 2) Have someone on craigslist do it and subsequently break my phone. Or have to deal with all other dealing on craigslist issues... 3) Doing it myself and possibly breaking my phone (which would end in cursing and crying). I wish I had looked at Yelp before I went. I dropped off a tablet at the Taylor Mall store on 9/5/2014 for a screen replacement. I was told that it would be done the next day. At this point, my wife or I have returned to pick up the unit on 5 occasions. Each time, the unit has been in the same state of disrepair. The tech had disassembled and partially re-assembled. We are repeatedly told that the tech just didn't get to it and the unit is too complex for anyone buy Ezekiel to repair. However, Ezekiel is always elsewhere. I even tried calling to the store to see if it was ready. However, I left a voice mail with no response. I have never experienced this poor of a level of customer service in my life. This company is the one that repeatedly promised delivery of the repaired product on specific days. They repeatedly failed to meet the delivery date. They never contacted me to let me know there was a delay and reset expectations. In the meantime, we have wasted 2 1/2 hours of our time driving back and forth to the mall in order to pick up our tablet because of the expectations the Tech Center. My wife just contacted me from the mall a few minutes ago. The tech said he would try to reassemble the unit. When I finally took my phone in so that they could fix it they told me it would be an hour, after more than two had passed I went back to check the status and the kid working on my phone had left, nobody thought to call and let me know that my phone wouldnt be ready for a few days. Worst customer experience, service, and overall delivery possible! I brought my Xbox 360 to this store to get serviced because of an E74 error message (3 red lights). They said they could get it back to me within 2 weeks, three at the latest. Five weeks later, I called and was told that they were delayed but that they would get it done later that day. I came by almost a week later (as I was out of town), so six weeks after they had received the Xbox, only to be told that it still hadn't been fixed. A few days later they finally called me back and told me they could not fix it. I never want to hate on any company, especially if they at least get it done....but almost SEVEN weeks only to find out that they couldn't fix it? TERRIBLE customer service and TERRIBLE repair service. Never coming back here. I brought my MacBook Pro here for virus removal (at least that is what I THINK it was becaus something hijacked my browser after an update) and they not only could not remove it but they diagnosed my computer as terminal. I took it home and decided that since it was dead anyways....I was gonna reset it back to factory and see what happens. I was just hoping for another week with it. Do not go here. They literally did NOTHING right. I brought 2 laptops in to be repaired here. Neither have been repaired after 2 weeks. I don't know why I didn't check the Yelp reviews before going here, because it would have saved me a lot of time and trouble. The first laptop had a cooling issue that caused the laptop to power off. The second laptop had an unknown issue, as I wasn't present when the damage occurred, but since the screen was white they thought it was a problem with the screen or graphics card. It was a Sunday when I dropped off the laptops and I was told they would be done by the following Sunday at the latest. The Tuesday after the day I was promised they would be done, I finally called them to see what was going on since they had not called me. I was told that mine was being worked on right then, but he couldn't find my other laptop when I asked for the status on that one. Another 4 days go by without hearing anything, so today I go to the store in person to find out what is happening. I'm told that the laptop with the cooling issue is done, but that the one with the white screen actually had water damage and could not be repaired. We pay $50 for the one that is supposed to have been fixed and leave. I am suspicious of their diagnosis, so I immediately take the water damaged laptop to Best Buy, where they hook it up to an external monitor confirming that it is a screen issue after all. Everything works fine except the screen. We come home and test the laptop with the cooling issue and the VERY FIRST MESSAGE that pops up upon powering on is that there is an issue with the cooling system and it needs to be repaired. Please don't use this place. Run! Took a perfectly running phone that had a crack screen paid $100 to get the screen fix. When I picked it up the phone didn't work anymore. I brought it back immediately. He said to leave it to him he would see what's wrong with it but he thought it was damage from the drop. Apparently it took a couple of days for him to fix. So I came in to get my phone fixed. Screen camera and battery. They replaced the screen and battery.... But had to order the camera. Ok I paid for everything including the camera to be fixed when it came in. I didn't get far. By the time I got to the car, the screen stopped working. When I brought it back the guy said they were getting bad batches of screens. So he replaced it again and all fixed. I then came in 3 weeks later after not getting a call to fix the camera, and they couldn't find it. So they reordered it and never got a call 3 weeks later so went in and he said they got it but for some reason sent it back. Notes said they called, but showed my call history and nothing. So they tell me I can't get a refund and they can't fix the phone with the part I ordered. So what do I do. I ask to call the manager and they said that's not possible, but he will be in 3 days from now. So the question is if I can't get the part, they have my money and can't get that back, they can't give me a date to get it fixed, I even asked if they can save it for me and call, but isn't that what this situation started as? My first repair date was 9/19/2015 and it is now 11/25. He says he will take care of it this two weekends from now bc of the holiday. We shall see!!! Update!!!! So I finally got a call on 12/13 that the part came in after 1 phone call a day for the past week. They said to come in and at 3pm the next day they are closed!!!! This place is a joke, I am so unimpressed by the quality of work that they deliver. I first dropped off my phone the first week of January and here we are in March and my phone still has the same problem it did when I dropped it off. So far I've taken it back twice for the same problem of it not keeping charge, first they said it was the battery, but when I got it back I still had the same problem. The second time the same thing it will not fully charge. Save yourself some time and money don't take your devices to the tech Center!! The place looks legit, however the worker there (a older gentlemen with big teeth) doesn't know anything. He told two ladies in front of me in line that he didn't know how to fix there phone and that they needed to come back later to talk to his manager, so i was already skeptical before talking with him, I tell him I need a new screen for my phone and BOOM he sais the same thing to me "You'll have to come back when my manager (basically cuz this guy doesn't know jack S**t) *** seems like this place would be better off just being closed whenever the manager isnt there, or at least hire a knowledgeable staff. Terrible service and terrible phone screen ! I paid $100 to get my iPhone screen fixed and not only did It take them more than 3 times to do it right, but the lighting on my phone was way dimmer than it originally was , along with the screen occasionally glitching. I told the technician that I'd come back again so he can replace it with a better screen and do it the right way. (They claim to offer the same screens as the original , but that's BS!) Before I had a chance to come back and have one of their employees fix my screen .. it broke! It literally broke without me dropping it. I had my phone in my pocket like every other human being and next thing you know I go to pull it out and it has several cracks! Weak and cheap phone screens they're offering! I go back with my receipt and my iPhone with a cracked screen and the manager Ezequiel says he can't replace it and for me to contact corporate . They told me I would have my I pad screen in a week and three weeks later they had the wrong one you can go to any replace ur own i pad screen video on you tube after you order the part on eBay it will come with the tools for a bout 30 dollars and take 3 days for the iPad three then watch the video and save yourself 100 dollars and weeks of waiting I hope people start helping themselves and these guys go out of business read more
