I really like this place. This a combination Mexican & American food restaurant. I ordered a ribeye. I was quite pleased. It was actually better than I've had at some steak places. The sides are well proportioned and tasted good. They have an all you can eat steak dinner on Saturday nights for $13.99. I plan on heading back over and giving it a shot one day. I've lived in this area my whole life and I am disappointed that I am just now giving them a visit!!! Went for breakfast this morning and it was delicious! I got the Houston which is a biscuit cut in halves with a sausage patty and an egg then covered in gravy. With hash browns on the side! Not going to lie... I mixed it all together and it was great! Salsa and chips were the best part of the meal. The salad was on the hot side and quite tasty. Chips were fresh and warmed. Good combination. Got carne asada which is normally pounded thin and grilled. This came out about 3x normal thickness then cooked very well done. Marinade didn't come through at all. The beans on the plate had zero flavor. The pico on the plate was quite tasty like the Salsa and they didn't kill it with cilantro. Overall I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but wouldn't skip it if I was in the neighborhood as the prices were very appealing. read more

I ordered the cheeseburger with homemade fries. It was the best damn burger they ever yanked out of a cow. I would have taken a photo but I began to eat and finished it before I had a chance to. I would highly recommend The Terrell Cafe and the burger. read more

Yuck yuck yuck! Not only was our order wrong but it was gross. The cheese enchiladas tasted like the cheese was out of a nacho cheese can. My husband's chicken enchiladas also tasted like chicken out of a can and my daughter's chicken nuggets were soggy. The restaurant could use some updating and a good cleaning. read more

This is a very old style, country, tex-mex place. The salsa is fantastic and all the Mexican food is great. My family members also got steak and other diner fare and it was all good too. Your service my run a little slow but the vibe is chill and the costumers are chatting and enjoying themselves,so maybe don't go on your short lunch break here. In the area for 3 days for first Monday and wish we would have found it on our first day here and not our last. Staff was friendly and very efficient. My wife had chicken fried chicken and I had the chicken fried steak. Food was hot and lots of it. I was able to cut mine with a fork. Also had Mac and Cheese with my meal and it reminded me of how my wife's aunt made it,sooooo good. If you're in the area and don't stop in Terrell and eat here then you will miss out. read more

One of my go to places... I live right around the block so it's not only a great place to eat, but convenient too. I have only eaten the Mexican food here. Chips and salsa are right up there with the best of the best and addictive type heat! Chile Relleno, enchiladas, beans, rice, guacamole and pico... Mmmm! I don't see how anyone could not love it. The staff was very friendly and personable, and the prices were great, but the food was sub par. It took 45-50 min to make to go orders when the restaurant was basically empty. When it took so long, I expected a fresh meal but my fries were barely warm and the ice cream that came with my dessert was melted. Also, it was a little unappetizing to see a hair on the side of my ranch in my plate. Not sure that I'd go back as there are plenty of other places in the area to stop for lunch. read more

Nothing fancy, but great food and service made for a positive breakfast experience. We both had huevos con chorizo with rice and beans. This is the best sub-$10 meal I've had in years. I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and ordered a patty melt and a Coke. The sandwich was great: nice sharp rye bread and the rest was as a patty melt should be, while avoiding any greasiness. The fries were not numerous, but they were thick and tasted very fresh, and the thickness and taste were worth more than double that amount of the usual unremarkable fries you get anywhere else. All for $8 and change before the tip. The peach cobbler a la mode sounded enticing, but I was full and satisfied. It's not Maxim's, but it's very unpretentiousness made it feel very comfortable. The staff was very prompt in their service. Locals seem to like the place. I live some distance away, but I'll return if I ever pass through Terrell again. read more

We were looking for a home cooked meal. The atmosphere is worn, the menus were dirty (one of my pet peeves) and they were mopping the floors with chemicals While ate. I did not see anything on the menu that interested my taste buds, so I chose bean & cheese nachos (because you cannot go wrong with nachos)with a side of guacamole. I was surprised with the great taste of both. My husband got the hamburger steak with home fries. They home fries were awesome thin sliced fresh cut potatoes. Well, stopped at this cafe hoping they had home cooked food!! They did!! BUT!! I had just started eating my dinner and 2 waitress came from the back area, the one in front was carrying 2 salads, a package of crackers fell on the floor , then the other waitress stopped picked it up and put them back on top of the salad and served it to the cute little old lady at the table smiling like nothing happened!!!! I can see if maybe she put the crackers on the table for her but on her food after it had been on the floor!!!!! Gross!! What if that waitress saw someone do that to her food!!! Cafe food at its best would be the most accurate description of the Terrell Cafe. Excellent for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The have the best chips and hot sauce I have ever eaten. Don't forget to try the Mexican dishes. The only downside is that it tends to get crowded around lunch. read more

THE WORST BREAKFAST EVER!! I ordered the gravy sausage biscuits with scrambled eggs (well) and a side of grits. I knew I was in trouble when people who came in after me were getting their food and mine hadn't arrived yet. And, just as I expected, the gravy sausage biscuits were cold from sitting under the heat lamp for who knows how long, the eggs weren't just well done, they were BURNED. The waitress knew it was the breakfast from hell and was apologizing as she sat the food on the table, Oh, and BTW, the coffee was nothing more that colored water. BTW2, the table had only been partly wiped down from the prior customer. The area where the condiments were placed was filthy with spilled salt and food crumbs.
