Salmon, risotto, and veg. (4oz)

Sat at the bar and had great service with the already busy bartender. Had a cheerful mule that tasted a lot like punch. Dinner was good and in a price point you'd expect.

The ambience was beautiful! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I really enjoyed the fact that they offered vegan options on the menu even protein! If I had room I definitely would've checked out their sorbet which was vegan and looked delicious.

Wonderful dinner. Great server, Chelsea. Bartender, Taylor top notch. Piping hot right from the kitchen entrees. Hot plates as well. Panko encrusted Walleye outstanding! Lamb chops perfectly prepared! Memorable dinner.

I suppose it was fine enough, but for the price I'd call it disappointing -- especially if you're looking for vegetarian/vegan options. They didn't really have much to choose from - and - what they did felt pretty lacking to me. The menus posted on Yelp looked promising but they're also 4-5 years old and it seems they've changed things up a bit. (Attaching a new menu.) I ended up going with the Cali Chicken salad and replaced the chicken with tofu -- but -- what I got wasn't quite what the description seemed. It was mostly lettuce with red quinoa on it and sparse amounts of the other mentioned ingredients. My sub of tofu was actually unseasoned tempeh that was given to me on the side cut into 4 massive chunks that I had to rip and put on my salad myself. I respect the effort of having veg options but the execution is not good. Other than that the building and resort is a nice spot and the staff was great. No complaints at all there!

Shepard's Pie

This is a great place to eat if you're at Crystal Mountain! We had dinner here a few weeks ago, after a day of skiing. We forgot to make a reservation and the wait was about 40 minutes for a party of 5. The restaurant was cozy and casual. They had fun cocktails and good beer options. Everyone except 1 person got the Shepard's pie. The outlier got the special, which was duck. The Shepard's pie was a hit and so was the duck! The duck was reportedly well-prepared and delicious. I also had the chili, which was great! It had amazing flavor. Definitely don't skip the chili. Everyone was very pleased with the meal and not a crumb was left on our plates! The service was great, very attentive and friendly. We'll definitely have dinner here next time we're at Crystal Mountain!

Fun on site restaurant and bar. Food was very good and service was fast & friendly. Food was a little pricy, but not for the quality and presentation. Up here for a pre holiday 3day golf

Salmon on risotto

Everything was divine. The ragu wasn't a huge hit but the fresh pasta was perfection. The salmon was savored and devoured all at once. The steak was so good our 8 year old guest gobbled it all up before I could take a photo of it. The drinks were on pointe. We had the cherry mule or something like that and it was quite refreshing. Highly recommend. Also, Crystal mountain is absolutely adorable if you can catch it after a fresh batch of snow has fallen.

Short Rib Ragu

Nice atmosphere. BUSY. Make sure you get a reservation during peak times. Dinner doesn't start until 5PM, so you won't be able to get dinner food until then. However if you can, the Short rib Ragu was PHENOMENAL. Look at it, it's in the picture. 10/10.

Chicken schnitzel
Zach M.

The thistle consistently has amazing food. The service tonight was outstanding and they did a great job separating tables and putting barriers between booths. The special tonight was chicken schnitzel with a bacon jam....highly recommend. The only suggestion I would have is to ask for the jam on the side. The breading is amazingly crunch but got soggy after 15 minutes from the jam. Great meal, great service, great atmosphere.

My fiancé and I went to The Glenwood a few days ago as we were on vacation in the area. I had been…read moreto The Glenwood once before, but this was his first time visiting. All of the food was phenomenal. We both ordered mocktails which had great flavor, and our salad (woodland salad) was unique and also great. I ordered the blue cheese filet mignon with asparagus while he ordered lamb with broccoli. Both of us were very happy with our meals! The staff was kind and attentive, and our table on the porch had a wonderful view. We will be back every time we are in the area!

It is rare when I write a review that I wish there were more than five stars to award. We spent a…read morelong weekend in the Manistee area and got a recommendation to eat at The Glenwood which was just a short drive north from where we were. I called for reservations the day before and found that only very early or very late was available. We also were given an option of seating in the restaurant or on the porch. We chose the porch and early reservation. We were seated at a nice table with a view of Portage Lake. We started with wine, (even though we bought copious amounts of wine on our trip, the wine list couldn't be ignored) my wife enjoying a glass of Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc and me a glass of cab. It was recommended we try their Almond Battered Shrimp. This appetizer was served with a cherry mustard sauce that was wonderful. The menu said jumbo shrimp and yes, they were jumbo with that nice "steak like" texture and flavor. For dinner my wife ordered the Whitefish special (Whitefish is on the regular menu but the special preparation was a bit different). This presentation had wilted spinach, onions with a light Parmesan crust. She let me try some and we both agreed this was the best whitefish either of have ever had. I ordered the "Everything Tuna". This was yellowfin tuna with light and dark sesame seeds, poppy seeds. onion, garlic and salt. I ordered it extremely rare (so rare a good vet could resuscitate it) with wasabi. This was a taste sensation. Dinners included broccoli and an excellent salad. The dressing was so good we bought a bottle on the way out. A "loaf" containing four rolls was also included. Our server was Cyrillia and her service was as outstanding as it gets. Often when I'm enjoying service of this calibre, I look around and see if we just got lucky or is everyone getting great service. It seemed that the service standard at The Glenwood is high. On the drive back to our hotel, we tried to come up with restaurants we've enjoyed as much. The list is slim with The Glenwood at or near the top.

Rounding up because two of my kids said to give one star, and two said to give three stars. Here is…read morewhy. This place has potential- it's an adorable cozy hometown bar that has all the feels to be the best place in town- but boy did it drop many balls. Pro: 1: Televisions on around the space with the live football game on! Woohoo 2: jukebox where you can select the tunes. 3: they give you a small cup of crayons for kids, "and they weren't the normal red, blue, green, yellow only!" The pros end there sadly. We stopped in at 6:35 on Sunday. The restaurant was busy but not wild. We stood for ten minutes before anyone greeted us- and when we were greeted the woman said oh there's a table there you can take. So if you stop in I am assuming it's seat yourself?! After seating ourselves we sat at our table another ten minutes without menus, without being greeted. My husband and I looked at each other and laughed- maybe we're supposed to order at the bar?! I got up and got menus for our table. After another 5-8 minutes a server came over and took our order. We ordered two pizzas, a burger, nachos, and a wet chicken burrito. The food took forever to arrive- I mean forever!!!! Like I mentioned we sat at 6:50ish, and our food arrived at 8:04! Our kids were pretty over waiting and so were we. The food was very sub par- we won't be returning unfortunately which is a bummer because the bar is adorable. The nachos were gross and felt like a can of dog food had been poured onto tortilla chips. The only redeeming factor was the sour cream and cheese per our kids. The pizza was pretty awful also! And it's pizza- it's not hard to get pizza right. The pizza was so darn greasy. I couldn't eat mine and our kids only had a few bites. Such a bummer. My husband ate his burger but didn't love it. The burrito was eh- nothing to write home about. I was excited and hopeful about it. The chicken inside was a bit off putting to me. It felt like fake chicken bits which totally creeped me out. After we paid our bill we eagerly left. If you're passing through town keep going. There busy be better. My husband and I only came in for a quick easy good meal- after our time here we wish we'd cooked in.

The Cabbage Shed is a must visit!…read more I've been to Frankfort a few times but I was introduced to The Cabbage Shed during this recent visit. I was surprised it took so long to learn about this place! I visited during the warmer months so the outdoor patio was open. They have a DJ on the patio that allows you to request a song via submitting a song from the available vinyls. It was fun to look through the vinyls he had available and playing throwback songs. The Cabbage Shed is extremely popular so I highly recommend making a reservation, if possible. The outdoor sitting goes fast but they have ample indoor tables. My group was able to at least sit next to a window even though we were inside. The view on the patio is breathtaking! Even if you cannot sit outside, they'll let you step out to take a photo from the second floor if it's not too busy inside. I'm not sure if it's a requirement but every place in this area pour heavy handed. No complaints! I ordered the baked penne with sausage and it was unbelievable. I ordered this dish months ago and I still mention it anytime I reflect on my trip. The dish was flavorful and the ingredients tasted fresh. This was a relief because that's not the case for a lot of places nearby. I was easily able to get a a second meal out of my order. If I'm able to get at minimum two meals from my order it's always worth the price. I will definitely visit The Cabbage Shed during my future visits.
