Just got back from another visit and happy to report that Thread Bar is still fantastic and doing amazing things for my face. I kind of wish that there was a physical sign-in list to keep track of order people come in, because I have had people cut in front of me and JFC that's annoying as hell. This time, however, it was nearly-empty and I was helped after only 10 minutes of waiting. First, let me give you a little insight on my brows, they are really really thin and have the wierdest shape. I have had the whole threading experience before and pretty much fell in love with it. Thanks to YELP i found this place with great reviews and a reasonable price, $7 bucks for brows, thats even cheaper than back home. When i first got there, there was a bit of a wait. They dont take credit cards so i left my place in line to walk to the cvs across the street so i can get some cash. i was literally a block away when i hear HEYYY!!! HEYY!!! i turn around and its Aida, the owner chasing me down the street telling me to come back. I told her i was going to get some cash before i got my brows done. she said ill do your brows first than you can pay me. i though that was cool. I didnt catch the girls name that did my brows, but she really took the time to help me find a shape that was suitable for me on top of what i wanted. i was really satisfied with the whole experience. this is my new home for fabulous brows. read more

so I had a great experience at the thread bar yesterday. it is upstairs and the sign is small-ish; not so easy to see from the street. Cute little space, organized very well (almost like a hair salon). When we headed upstairs unlike most of the reviews, there was only two people in chairs getting done. Unlike the many reviews saying that there is usually a line up. We were literally in and out in 20 minutes flat. Andriea did my eyebrows and was very friendly. Another lady with long wavy black hair did my friends eyebrows. Both were super nice, and experts on facial hair. The other lady, actually diagnosed my friends eyebrows saying that she sees damage and asked her about her family eyebrow history. It was pretty funny, but amazing that she had this knowledge. Anyhoo long story short - we had a great experience and it was dirt cheap! 7 bucks for just eyebrows! Will definitely go again. FYI - Parking is a bit challenging. CASH ONLY read more

This is my first time getting my eyebrows threaded and it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. Found this place through Yelp searching places in my area and this place had good reviews. The person who did my eyebrows went over what would look good for me which was spot on. The process took seconds and the result was beautiful. I will be back for more and put the tweezer away. The price is reasonable at $7 for eyebrows. And they have a frequency card so the 10th visit is free. There's only metered and street parking, drove around the block and found street parking. I arrived a little after they had opened and there were already two people a head of me and one person working so the wait was about 10 minutes. read more

This is my go to spot for gettin' my eyebrows did. Be forewarned that the place gets MAD busy, we're talking a 30-45 min wait even during odd hours. But $7 later, my eyebrows always look amazing. I usually put my name down on the wait-list and catch up on emails and articles or go run some errands at CVS across the street. Aida, the owner, has a wry sense of humor and I could see how that could annoy some people but I tend to enjoy her banter. She WILL scold you if you've tweezed your eyebrows in the middle etc. and will also tell you about her crazy night out the weekend before. Pay no attention if it's not your cup of tea, sit in the chair for 7 minutes as she threads away at your brows, and walk out a happy camper. read more

I have these weird Asian eyebrows and this place knows what to do with them every time. I personally like the owner the best since I think she gives me the best shape without making them too thin. I think she's only here in the afternoon though. It's simple but cheap and does the best job! read more

The owner is the only one operating the studio with no assistants or functioning air conditioning. She has a very bad attitude and ego. As a returning client you'd expect respect when only 3 minutes late to an appt in Los Angeles. She started DMing in such tacky and distasteful way only after two minutes late for an appt. If a client is scheduled for an appt there should be a 5 min grace period and a 30 min given slot time set aside for the paying client. I will never go back to this cheap business and will go somewhere in Beverly Hills. She does not know how to run a business or speak with clients. Absolutely Disrespectful and cheap. read more

As far as brow bars go, this was a funky fun place. The walls were painted pink and the owner was very friendly and does a great job with shaping eyebrows. The reason I didnt give the full 5 stars was that the experience with one of the brow stylists was very painful. This place is awesome. I used to go to another place down the street and thought I'd try someplace different and I'm really glad I did. First of all, good music pumping at a fun volume. I've been twice, seen by two different women and both times, they did a fantastic job. Sounds like there could be a line, but I went both times on Friday early afternoon thx to summer Fridays so I haven't had a long wait issue. Aida is fantastic. Although she can be blunt and incredibly forward, Aida is a master of her craft. This place is very small but cute, very girlie girl. The most time I've ever spent waiting there is about ten minutes and you can even use their pink computers while you do. The Thread Bar is quaint, cool and cheap! This place is easy to pass when you are driving. So keep your eye out for parking near the CVS! Andrea did a wonderful job on my eyebrows. She asked me what I would like and was careful just to clean up my brows as I am trying to grow them back after a disastrous experience at Ziba. The results were wonderful and the prices are great. I have been coming here for years to get my brows done and the inconsistency is why I can't say I go to Thread Bar routinely anymore. My friend said the truest love is that of a girl and her eyebrow person. That eyebrow person for me is Courtney. I miss Courtney, plain and simple. I like going to Aida too but I normally ask for Courtney and settle for Aida if absent. I knew Courtney was no longer here but I still came to Thread Bar out of convenience l and Aida wasn't here the last time I came and the previous time, she had to close up shop early to get ready for a filming/shoot of some sort. The last time I was here, there was a sign that said Aida was out temporarily and her return was undetermined. That's hard for regulars who come expecting to get their person, best to call in advance. There were two new workers there who I was a little hesitant to go to because one of them was spending an especially long time with a single client and the other one seemed to snap the thread multiple times during threading. My brows came out fine with the latter worker, but I was red for quite some time and it was quite the uncomfortable burn. I still like the place because it's convenient and if you need a quick threading and Aida is there, she's good, but I don't mind going out of my way to get the consistency I want. read more

I found the Thread Bar on Yelp. After reading so many positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad that I did. Both Andrea and Aida are fast, professional, and most importantly, they know how to do brows. And this place is cheap as well. Perfect for someone on a budget. So really, there's no excuse for a girl not to get her brows fixed. Even if you don't wear makeup, having the right shaped brows can really makes a difference in how your face look overall. The only downside is that there's no parking at the place. Last time I parked at Bristol Farms and walked a couple of blocks, the walk wasn't that bad, just think that not only are you fixing your brows, you're also getting in shape. Perfect! read more

I would like to start by saying that I am an Indian girl who, unfortunately, embarked on the endless journey of threading one's face at the young age of 16 years old. I knew there would be more hair to come...and with age, boy has it. I have met every random threading auntie imaginable: too slow, too thin eyebrows, too insulting, you name it. The point is that I am now damn picky. Aida did a wonderful job and did it with a wonderful attitude, not to mention a great price attached. There is no appointments, walk in only, so be warned. This place is ahhhhmazing! Being a UCLA student, I can't afford to splurge on expensive waxing or threading - this is amazing. And they have a cute little chihuahua that follows you around the store and tries to cuddle with you! So sweet. I definitely recommend coming here, my eyebrows have never looked better. :) Aida is also so sweet! And so good at what she does. You shouldn't have ANY doubts about trusting Aida with your eyebrows. She is INCREDIBLE and I'm super picky with who touches my brows. I never wait more than 5 min for an appointment, and I'm always out ASAP (which is amazing since I'm a student). She's so friendly and she's worked with all types of eyebrows and there's no one else I trust. People would drive miles just to see her. So before finding the thread bar, I was really scared to try someone new. But I said, "Hey, why not take a chance? The Thread Bar has some pretty awesome reviews." Aida has such a cool personality. You can talk to her about anything! Down to earth cool chick whose been around the world and knows what she's doing. Okay - I gave this place 4 stars last time because you often have to wait - even if you make an appointment. But I've recently learned a lesson. Thread Bar is worth the wait. No matter how long it is. This past Saturday I went to Thread Bar and the wait was over 45 minutes. So, I went to Vinita's down the street. BAD IDEA! My eyebrows - which Aida had fixed because someone else had jacked them up - are not jacked up again. All because I didn't want to wait. I will not be making this mistake again. Thank God for Thread Bar. I've never waxed, and have been threading since a shop popped up in my old neighborhood. I recently moved and was pissed to find there were no threading places in Santa Monica. Luckily, just 10 minutes or so away I found Thread Bar. It's a tiny little shop on Westwood Blvd, tucked away on the second floor about an Indian restaurant. There were only two people working there and the atmosphere was really laid back. I went in and was out in about 15-20 minutes with virtually no wait. Andrea did a great job of cleaning up my eyebrows and evening them out - I hadn't really noticed that one was lower and when it was pointed out I was so pissed my last eyebrow place didn't catch it! It was fixed quickly, and I've been receiving compliments for my eyebrows for the past few days! I'll definitely be coming back and using my punch card. The brows were $7. For $1 more with your eyebrows, you can have your lip done as well. Ask them if it hurts. They'll be honest :) read more

Great service, quick but not careless. And only $8 for eyebrow and lip ($7 for just eyebrow). It's walk-in only, and street parking can be a hassle but the place is worth it! My only complaint would be that they don't offer you any lotion or cooling cream for your forehead after threading to ease the pain for us wimps. Courtney is amazing! Tor the past 3 months that I've been going here, I like that I'm not always forced into making small talk with her and Courtney is efficient and really consistent. I've also had Aida once and loved her too! Love this space because it feels more private and comfortable than any of the other thread bars out here. And love that they have computers for you to Facebook...customer interest oriented. There was a guy working the front desk recently and I didn't catch his name but he was so friendly and nice. Note Parking can be kind of a bitch: and we found out the hard way that it's not okay to park in the Riteaid lot across the street and walk over. read more

I've been getting my eyebrows done here for about a year now. The prices are unbeatable and they even give you a stamp card so you get your 10th visit for free I believe. Since I live in the area, I usually just walk over, but there should be some residential/street parking if you drive over. It's kind of a tucked away place so you might not notice it right away, but you just walk up the stairs and you'll be able to hear the music coming from the store. Every time I've come, I've always had to wait 15-30 minutes. It's not too much of a problem since they get your eyebrows done relatively fast, but just don't come in if you're rushing. The girls who work here are seriously AMAZING. It hurts like a b*tch to get your eyebrows done, but my eyebrows look great afterwards. Threading is SO much better than getting them waxed, and it lasts so much longer. After 2 weeks of getting them done, I had barely any hair growing in. If you're looking for a cheap and quality place to get your brows done, stop looking and go to this one! The only reason I dinged off a star would be because there is a slight wait and they don't take appointments, but other than that, this place is the holy grail of eyebrow threading. read more

I used to live about a block away from The Thread Bar. While walking by one day I decided to stop in. I had never had my brows threaded before so I didn't know what to expect, the owner was critical of the shape of my brows but gave good advice and explained what she was going to do to even them out. The first time I was threaded my eyes watered like crazy but that stopped happening by about my 3rd visit. I continued to go to The Thread Bar for the next year and during that time my brows were able to grow out in the areas that needed to be fuller and I was able to have them reshaped. I've been going to The Thread Bar for almost 1 1/2 years, and still looooovin' their work! My eyebrows are hell to deal with. Andrea and Aida, the owner, are simply phenomenal at what they do! The other two girls are also excellent, I am just super-biased with Andrea and Aida sooorry! ;-) This place is very affordable, and the cheapest probably within the whole Westside. I live in West L.A. where there are quite a few eye brow places, but none of them can hold candle to The Thread Bar's quality and prices. Parking can be iffy and grrrr, but very doable. Arrived without an appointment and there was zero wait. Was super happy with how my eyebrows were threaded, Ella threaded them and she was super quick but careful. OH! What an amazing experience and may I add great customer service! I must say that this is by far the best threading place I've been to. I live close to Artesia (a place where eyebrow treading is notorious) but I decided to drive 45 minutes to test it out. Let me tell you all. They did a wonderful job. Andrea did my eyebrows. She was a little surprised that I knew her name. I told her that I discovered them on yelp. I guess they never heard of it before, but I was glad to share the website and show them the wonderful reviews that people have been leaving about the Thread Bar. Anywho... Andrea just finished my brows about 2 hours ago and she did a great job (she gained a loyal customer!). She took her time to tell me about my brows and informed me about the areas that needed to be grown (since I wanted my eyebrows thicker then they already were). She was very gentle and efficient about getting every strand of hair that needed to be removed (unlike other places that I've tested). Go Andrea! Yup! I highly recommend this place to all who love getting their eyebrows threaded. Although parking is poor & the drive is super far for me, the price is great & the gals are great!!! A few years ago, I worked in LA, lived in Westwood and got my eyebrows threaded at Vinita's. Then I moved to the Bay Area and never had a chance to find another threading place. You can imagine how disgusting my eyebrows had become! Got invited to a wedding in LA and needed to get the eyebrows done ASAP. Recent Yelp reviews on Vinita's made it pretty clear that the girl I used to go to was no longer there. More desperate searching produced the Thread Bar, and another credit goes to Yelp and Yelpers for helping me find this great place. I walked in to this second floor studio without an appointment and was greeted with a smile at the door. No appt, no prob, they said. I figured I would get the upper lip and eyebrow combo - super good value at only $8. The girl at the front desk (didn't catch her name) did my upper lip, and Andrea (raved about in other reviews) did my eyebrows. THANK YOU ANDREA! She managed to even/level out my eyebrows, considering that one seems to be a bit higher than the other (total Frankenstein I am). She was so quick and so friendly with her conversation that I felt very little pain. I would highly recommend Andrea and Thread Bar! I FINALLY found a "Thread Bar" (no pun intended) and could not be happier with this place! I recently moved to LA from NYC, and was beyond shocked when i discovered that there are no threading salons in Downtown. So I of course consulted with yelp before making any decisions, found Thread Bar, got on the bus and boy i could not be happier! My eyebrows look AMAZING! The woman did exactly what i asked for... i wanted my eyebrows to have a nice shape but to remain on the thicker side and she did exactly that :) I'm so ecstatic that i finally found a great place to get my eyebrows threaded; if you haven't been, i definitely recommend going... it might be a wait for you to get your eyebrows done but it's TOTALLY WORTH IT! read more

After many uneven waxes and threading (at Ziba) I'd given up on threading or doing anything to my eyebrows - I've been plucking them myself for the past year! Until I heard about this place. I read the reviews and although there are many complaints about the customer service, I thought it was worth a shot. And, boy am I glad I tried it!!! My brows look AMAZING! SONYA was very PROFESSIONAL - she listened to what I wanted and delivered. She was pleasant, didn't talk much, and just listened to what I wanted. I highly recommend this place to anyone, its affordable and they do a great job ($7 for brows only). Also, I asked Sonya if I needed my lip done and she gave me the honest truth and said 'no' - instead of trying to up-sell me, like at Ziba or the Brow Bar.
