Went to Aida twice now. First time was ok - but second time was not a great experience. It was super rushed and kinda harsh. There were with other people waiting and I didn't feel like I got individual attention since she was talking to them and going back and forth from her phone. I wanted to show her past pictures of how I wanted my eyebrows done but didn't even get the opportunity. After looking in the mirror I see hairs that she missed and overall a messy job. SUPER RUDE. Really weird lady with a really rude attitude, not sure how she keeps any customers. Didn't even say hello when I came in a few minutes early. I was still waiting for like 5 more mins after my appt was supposed to start and she was still with the previous client (who kept telling her to redo it or something). I slightly coughed (not even a cough literally like an "ahem" cause I didn't bring my water and I have allergies), and she straight up started interrogating me on why I coughed and talking about how her friend is a nurse?? Who treats customers like that, I understand if she was concerned about getting sick or something but just ask like a normal person. I immediately walked out cause no way I am letting this weird lady get anywhere near my eyebrows. I was already iffy about going since who charges $21 for threading?? Never going back there and I suggest you don't either. Not the type to make reviews. Read the other reviews... unless you are a long time customer she RUSHES you in an extremely rude tone. She did not want to hear what I wanted to say, did not want to look at my photos, and was very rude. I get nervous with my eyebrows and people like her are the reason why. She ended up making my eyebrows uneven and it seems she has the same template for everyone-- she did not tailor my eyebrows to my face. I think if you already have pretty defined eyebrows-- maybe give her a try to clean up your eyebrows. But other than that I would never recommend her to anyone. read more

My ptsd with my brows went away and she's the only one I trust and drive up from San Diego for. Recently found the Thread Bar because of Yelp! I was in the area with Mike L and we both were looking for a place to get our eyebrows threaded. Yes, BOTH of us! He also likes to shape his eyebrows! I usually go to WOW in Culver City so I didn't know of any in the area we were at. Lucky for us, the Thread Bar showed up about a mile from where we were! Plus, Janelle Q also comes here so we decided to try the place out! It was pretty easy to find The Thread Bar. It's on the second floor of a building with metered street parking in front. When you walk in, there is no one there to greet you and there is no sign in sheet. You just wait in line until you're called. There's a wooden bench for you to sit at and tons of magazines for you to read. The eyebrow threading I had was good but I didn't have it with Aida or Andrea. The person I had was quick and I liked how my eyebrows came out after. I didn't find any stray hairs or... longer hairs that needed to be cut. This is a great place to get your eyebrows threaded at. It is cheap ($7 for eyebrows) and the work they do is great. I have no problems coming back here. As an added bonus, they give you a frequent buyer's punch card where your tenth visit is free! read more

I have been going to Aida for years and I will never let anyone else touch my eyebrows!!!! Aida did an amazing job of fixing and reshaping my brows when I first came to get. Genetically, I have bushy brows, but let me tell you from experience, that doesn't mean your eyebrows will automatically be beautiful. You need someone who knows how to shape them, and Aida is that girl!! If your eyebrows have been misshapen for a minute, it might take a couple months for her to perfectly reshape because she's waiting for some hair to grow back. Aida at The Thread Bar in Westwood is hands down the rudest and most egotistical person I've ever encountered. I genuinely cannot believe more people aren't calling her out for it. From the moment I sat down, she condescendingly criticized my eyebrows, claiming I'm "ruining" them by not letting them grow out in areas they've never grown before. She spent the entire session talking about herself, including how much she despises her own sister who is "getting fat." Absolutely unprofessional and frankly disgusting behavior. To make matters worse, she wasn't even ready for me at the scheduled time, and based on what I've heard from others, this is apparently a pattern with her. I have no idea where she gets the audacity to treat clients like this--maybe she's bitter about having to thread the eyebrows of college students while we're out achieving things. No matter how good or bad she does eyebrows, she is a horrible human being. I used to get my eyebrows done every two weeks and have left satisfied and confident no matter the artist. You go get your eyebrows done to regain confidence and she, does the complete opposite by complaining about how bad your eyebrows look prior to even getting them done. I mentioned my eyebrows were untouched for a VERY long time, and she kept saying I need to let them grow out in places where I've never grown hair before because my eyebrows are "horrible" for my face and that they "go against her eyebrow standards." I showed her how I normally get my eyebrows done and how I like them and she said she's not willing to make my eyebrows look like that because of how bad they look, when I'm always getting compliments on my eyebrows. Not only that, but when I mentioned my two eyebrows don't look at all similar after she did them, she said "they were never similar to begin with." She SLAYED my brows (and they sure needed help lol) She even helped me learn how to pencil my brows for a fuller look (I had been trimming my eyebrow hairs ‍ and they're looking sparse lol). Call it trust issues, or maybe just an intrinsic Persian genetic trait, but whatever the etiology the point for 27 years of my life has been my eyebrows get only touched by 2 women. Myself and maman (my mama). Until. Now. Maybe it was the sign waiting for me on Weyburn as I walked back from clinic one day I happened to be in a good mood advertising this place that for some reason I decided to come back later that day. Just moved to LA a few months ago from SD. Never have I tried a threading place here in LA, I would always wait to go back to San Diego to get my brows done. I am SOOO picky about who does them for obvious reasons. Don't want them shaped wrong and thin. I needed my upper lip done desperately and decided to just get that done and found them on yelp(this place is right next to my work office). I've been going to Aida at The Thread Bar for a few years since I was referred from a friend at my gym. Her prices are great but what I keep going back for is for her amazing work ethics and professionalism. My eyebrows look amazing everytime ! ( prior to that, other threading places would have them shaped so thin most of brows were missing ...or so thin I'd be embarrassed). Never have any issue w/Aida! Not only is Aida great at what she does but she runs her business amazing. She's always been so kind and helpful to me and aiding if I need to reschedule. Im immunocompromised so how clean she keeps her buisness her a HUGE plus, as well. Look, she's a one woman show ; if she gets sick it's not like she has PTO ?! lol. I'm usually not a same day reviewing type of person, but I just went here for the first time like half an hour ago and haven't been able to stop thinking about what a good experience it was! Aida is SUPER friendly, personable, and helpful. She took one look at my brows and immediately could see everything that I've always hated about them, and also offered advice and a plan to fix them as time goes on! The threading itself was completely painless and so quick that I got it done on my lunch break. She even filled them in after, showed me how to compensate for my right brow being much more sparse than my left, and told me what product she used! The price for eyebrows and upper lip is an unbelievable deal, and the convenience of being located in Westwood Village is awesome. What really made this visit for me was that I forgot my wallet back at my office, and she totally went out of her way to help me pay her electronically, which I so appreciate. Aida and Yelpers, I walked in after being in the ICU at RR hospital with my spouses family for two days (and needing to get some self-care in after a 55 hour workweek before the hospital situation). While I am an LA native, and I even used to go to your previous location from time to time years ago....you immediately made me feel at home at your thread bar. You're an old soul who recognized that in me I felt. Also-Thank you for your tips regarding how to fill in my sometimes sparse areas in my eyebrows after they are threaded, with the pencil! I've been going to a more local valley shop and they mess things up from time to time when they are rushing. She really helped me out and didn't make me go to an ATM when I was a few dollars short after forgetting that it's a cash only business. I could feel that the other college-aged patrons were also happy to be there even though there was a little wait. I rarely write reviews but I thought you earned this. I have nothing but the best to talk about Aida. I'm really sad to be leaving the area after my undergrad because NO ONE--EVER has made my brows look as good as Aida does. You can tell she knows what she's doing and customizes them to fit you. I was strictly going to Aida all of my undergrad, and one time I couldn't help my grown out eyebrows when I went home--they butchered them (keep in mind I have pretty nice eyebrows with a good shape and all they really need is to clean them) I came back to Aida and of course was disappointed but she helped me grow them back out and bring them to their shape. This review update is long overdue... about 4 months overdue, in fact, since that's how long it's been since the beloved threader Andrea left The Thread Bar + moved out of state. But that's just the first of 3 reasons why I am lowering my rating + moving on to a different salon. Read on. [[ REASON 1 ]] Andrea was a favorite threader not only because of the great quality of her work but her more friendly nature. She would make small talk while quickly doing her job + was helpful in pointing out exactly how she wanted you to position your hands so that she could get the best angle or taut skin to get at every little hair. Never in the 20+ times that I went to her did I ever have a complaint or leave unhappy. The other threaders at the salon would vary between chatting up other clients they're more social with (Aida) or they would give you the silent treatment throughout the whole 5-10 minute session (Courtney). And while Aida of course does a good work since she's the owner of the salon, Courtney is inconsistent. When I pointed it out to her, she said it was because my brows needed to grow in more so one of them had to be like that. Are you serious?!? Did she really expect me to walk out of there with a lumpy-shaped eyebrow????? And seeing as she had been the last person to touch my eyebrows a whole 3 weeks prior to this visit, why were they in the predicament of supposedly needing to grow out more in the first place??????? I've had Courtney work on my brows before to decent results but this experience completely tipped the scales on my already wavering opinions on looking for another salon. Especially since more often than not during my visits, Courtney is the only one there, I do not want to be subject to the inconsistency of whether she is going to screw up my eyebrows or not!!! End rant. *breathe* So if I were to update this review purely based on my experience of recent, I would give it 2 stars. Wow. My previous review of The Thread Bar was a full 5 stars, but I'm going to have to knock it down to 2 stars. I will not be going back here again. I don't care how cheap the prices are, it's not worth it for how unbelievably rude the owner Aida is. What really stinks is that Andrea (who normally does my eyebrows) is absolutely fantastic. She is kind and takes her time listening to what you want done to your eyebrows. It is pretty much pointless to make an appointment at The Thread Bar, because you will just end up waiting anyway. In any case, my main point is that it's not worth going back on the off chance that Aida might do my eyebrows. I seriously cannot get over how rude she is. Never again. read more
