We had such a great experience with The Tile Shop. Susanna was our design expert, she was amazing! We had an appointment and she asked me for inspiration pictures a few weeks before our appointment. When we walked in, she was prepared and was able to show us exactly what we were looking for. We did an entire house renovation, so it was a pretty big project. All the tile selections look fantastic. Susanna went above and beyond for us; even after we bought our tile. If we had questions, or needed more material, she was always available to help us. I had multiple issues with the tile shop. The sales person originally told me that the tile would be in stock only to find out that they had to order it and it would take weeks to get in so I paid for rush shipping because my contractor was ready, but the tile was not in. They also ordered incorrect tile and when I tried to return two boxes, they said that they did not return anything past 60 days. Anyone that is in the process of renovating their home can tell you that things take a lot longer than 60 days to complete, especially when I had to order the tile in advance and wait for it to be delivered as a part of the purchase timeframe. I will not be ordering Tile from here ever again. read more

Alright so u have an update from the last time! Tile shop has won over my heart again. They've changed managers from years past and also one of their top sales consultants came back to work for them. Ginny Thompson is by far the best person to work with there. She helped me with my master bathroom remodel and also just recently helped me with my MudRoom tile! Good pricing and great selection. I like that this store has a lot of selections There are lots of samples on boards but was I like is they have lots of " rooms" for ideas They charge for the sample that I took but were very willing to change it to something else I ordered several of boxes and they had to be ordered but it took only a few days All the tiles wee in perfect shape They loaded the car for me. On the recommendation of our contractor, my wife and I went to The Tile Shop off of Nations Ford Road. On a Tuesday at 11:00 am I dropped my wife off and she spent 45 minutes in the store with at least 4 employees on the floor and was never acknowledged. A couple of them were helping other customers, but no one could be bothered to just speak to her and let her know they would help as soon as possible. The next day decided to try again and I went in with her and saw two employees, one helping another customer and the other at a desk possibly on the phone. Again we wandered around for 15 minutes and once again, no one acknowledged our existence. We will not be going again. read more

This store deserves ZERO stars. Beware that their showroom samples will not look like the tiles you will actually receive. This happened to us not once, but twice. We picked a black hex tile and ordered a sample. It wasn't until we went in a few days later to look at something else (while waiting for the sample to arrive) that the manager informed us that the actual tile we will receive won't be the same as their floor sample "because the manufacturer changed that over a year ago and we just haven't updated the floor sample yet" but no one told us this prior to ordering the sample. When we went to return the sample later, we were met with a lot of pushback and they even told us "that's not our tile" when in fact, it was. The manager finally approved the return (it was only $20 by the way that they were fighting us over). We also ordered a large format porcelain tile that on their own website describes it as "a bright white tile with gray veining" and what we received was white with brown/tan veining- it even said BRONZE on the boxes. After speaking with the manager, he agreed to refund the original shipping cost and also pick them up at no cost. Several days went by and when we called for an update on eta for pickup, he then said he changed his mind and was not going to refund us and would charge us for pick up. Not the way a business should work. You should never go back on your word. We will NEVER order another tile from The Tile Shop! And we will make sure all the people we know who are building or renovating a home know that The Tile Shop is NOT the place you want to spend your money due to their HORRENDOUS customer service and floor samples that do not match the actual tiles you receive. read more

Love, love, love this place! This showroom is one of three in Charlotte and the only one I've been to. Quite frankly I don't need to set foot in the others either. This one has everything you could possibly need!!! The selection of tiles is mind boggling and may overwhelm you at first, but the well trained staff will guide you and make great suggestions. Ceramics, porcelain, marble, natural stone, and on and on. There are multiple kitchen and bathroom models set up and tiled, so you can get a feel for some of the latest trends. We worked with Glenn, who really knows his stuff - I guess that's why he's the manager! He knew our tile layer/contractor and was able to give us his discount. We even picked out our grout color. The transaction was summarized and finalized/paid for on an IPAD and we were instantly emailed a receipt. Our product arrived a week later as we were quoted. The tile was beautiful with not a single broken piece. Our project turned out great! You can even return any unused open products within 30 days for a refund! From now on, this is the only place I buy tile!! read more

I'm a real estate invested new to the Charlotte area. I'm in the process of renovating a duplex in the Villa Heights area of Charlotte. I came into the store with a simple question regarding metal soap holders for tiled showers. After waiting 10-15 to be acknowledge by the staff, a young Asian women gave me eye contact and walked away even after I said excuse me. I finally went up to her to ask my question and also to complain about the poor customer service. The worst experiance in my 66 years old of dealing with management personnel. Started renovating tile in bathroom in september of 2011. Recieved bad tiles in first purchase returned them and recieved bad tiles again. Returned these tiles and recieved bad tiles again.After 3 times returning tiles management said they would inspect the tiles for all good ones. we picked up tiles for the 4th time and out of 40 27 are bad. We owe our contractor $300.00 for wasted time spent at our house. Manager will not compensate us. DO NOT BUY TILES FROM "The Tile Shop" in Charlotte nc. Dana Barge the manager will not treat you fairly. We will have to go to court now. read more

I am a designer and my husband is a remodeling contractor. We purchase or spec a LOT of tile. From our experience, The Tile Shop is well managed, responsive, well priced, and reliable. What I like about the showroom is that they have a small quantity of the actual tiles on the shelves below their boards, which you can purchase by the tile to take with you when shopping around, or even come in and grab a few extra pieces if you run a few short when installing your order. The reps are knowledgeable and helpful, and the showroom is large enough for them to show you actual sample installations of a lot of their product. Orders have come in on time, and when there was an issue with damaged tiles or when we've had to return overages they have been very easy to work with. read more

When I approached somebody (admittely busy) to see if there was anybody else working that could assist us he told me they were busy and would get to us eventually. We left about 10 minutes later after it was clear we would be better off shopping elsewhere. read more

It is unfortunate other people had such a bad experience when ours was the exact opposite. We worked with Ginny Thompson and she was EXCELLENT patient, knowledgeable, and made an otherwise overwhelming experience (with so many choices and we had two bathrooms to work on) almost pleasurable :) our tiles arrived as noted and she kept us updated throughout- was vigilant to source tiles from other stores when needed etc. etc. we had THREE bathrooms to redo and only did two with Tile Shop and one with lowes-- it was night and day we regretted not getting all our tile from tile shop instead- since they have everything (bullnose, pencil tile etc) all at once, service was excellent and honestly pricing may have been slightly higher but the quality is too. read more

My experience was actually with the Independence Bllvd Tile Shop location....I purchased @ $400 worth of tile and supplies to tile a small bathroom floor. The tile material, travertine, is a volcanic rock with natural variations (coloring, pitting, etc). My tile selection included multiple tiles bound to a fiberglass mesh which created a repeatable tile pattern. The tile was not in stock, so the store took my money and placed an order from the Tile Shop's Virginia warehouse. It arrived several days after my Independence in-store purchase. I picked up the boxed tiles at the Tile Shop and rented a wet saw for installation. Unfortunately when I opened the Tile Shop boxes of tiles, I found 90% of the tiles contained blems (cracked edges, individual tiles not properly spaced on the fiberglass mesh, etc). My initial thought was that my order must have been damaged in shipping...I mean, come on, how could a dedicated tile shop sell tile with so many defects??? When I looked in the bottom of the boxes expecting to find tile fragments, there were none. The Tile Shop's warehouse had actually shipped 90% blemish/ returned tiles to fill my order!!!! To compound the issue, the Independence Blvd store never bothered to actually examine the tile quality, so passed the defects right on to me. I had picked up a sample from the Tile Shop's Independence store to carry home, so thought I knew what quality of tile to expect....and had actually laid out several of their samples together in-store to see what more than a single tile would look like. There were absolutely no defects on the in-store tiles. (and as I said previously, I picked travertine which does have natural variations) I called the Independence Blvd Tile Shop explaining the quality of the tile I received and was immediately interrupted and told that I would have to come into the store to talk to their manager before anything could be done about the poor quality tile. I returned with my order to the store. The associate, who at first said he didn't see a problem, slowly acknowledged the poor quality after I lifted each tile out showing the chipped edges and other defects. Even though the tiles were defective, they still didn't want to give me a refund while they ordered replacement tile. The Tile Shop insisted on trying to bill my credit card for a second order of tile to replace the 1st one (with 90% blems/ returns), until I reminded them that I had paid Retail and expected them to deliver first quality tile. They were to re-order from their Virginia warehouse and call me when my order had arrived (today). I insisted that I not pay for the tile until it arrived in Charlotte and that the Charlotte NC Independence Blvd store inspect the tile for quality due to the unbelievably high amount of defects in my previous order before calling to alert me of my order's arrival. I got a call at home from the manager of the store on the evening of returning the tile. He reminded me of the natural variations in volcanic stone, which I acknowledged. I thanked him for his call and told him I looked forward to picking up my second order of tile, which I expected to be first quality. It is now Saturday after the Tile Shop's closing. I guess they either decided that they didn't want my business or that the second order arrived with as many defects as the original. I'm now out the time of two visits to the Independence Blvd tile shop (to pick up my order; then to return the defective product) and a half day rental of a wet saw for installation. I received no apology from the Tile Shop for their poor quality; my wasted time, or my wasted money. Was that the worst customer service experience I've ever experienced? Yea, that is about as bad as it gets. NEVER give these guys money for any product not in stock. read more

The staff (Ginny in particular) was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and thoughtful. They have a great selection of product - even more than what's online. You're able to purchase samples, which you have 6 months to return, which is very helpful. Would highly recommend checking it out. I have been to The Tile Shop twice in the last week. Great selection and very knowledgeable sales associates. As a novice DIY, I attended the class they offer free on Saturday mornings. The teacher may not have been a great presenter, but he did know what he was talking about and I certainly learned a lot. I would recommend for anyone trying to determine if a tile project is better served by a professional or if your project is something an amateur can handle. This store was certainly better than the other tile store we went to and absolutely no comparison to Home Depot of Lowes where customer service with real knowledge and experience is hard to find. read more

The overall store was nice and all the other employees were a pleasure to speak with but Michael Clouser was absolutely rude. I was aware that I had a difficult order, I needed several tiles cut to a specific size, I even apologized for my order being so complicated and he completely ignored me. He then started to be nice to me was once came back and told me that he broke my marble slabs. I would not use this shop again! Bottom line is the manager thinks a person that purchases product in a retail site should go online and review the terms and conditions of the sale, regardless of what the salesperson at the site has stated. We wanted Carrara tile for our kitchen backsplash, and although it was going to be 4-6 months before we started, the tile was on sale, so we bought some samples to compare to the granite countertops. It was a match and in order to take advantage of the sale I called and placed the order over the phone using a credit card. I was encouraged to buy extra and take advantage of the sale price since I could always bring back full cartons. I was comfortable with this policy since no time limit was mentioned so we purchased extra. I finally finished this low priority project a little over a year later and took back the unopened boxes. Guess what!. They have a limited return time policy and the manager stated I should have looked online at the policy! Can you believe this? I was also told that my receipt, the only paper I was provided, was not a real "receipt" and a real "receipt" would have had this information. So at that point the manager decided I should know what the receipt looks like? Mine details each item and shows it was paid. Isn't that a receipt? This isn't a discontinued product. They still sell it so I defiantly felt cheated. Tile Shop- I will not return. And I agree with Amber M. from 4/14/2014. This still goes on- no one home, poor service. Guess they are not interested In the "little" buyers. I still have two bathrooms to redecorate. Guess who we will not use! read more
