The staff is fantastic, the drinks are great. The food is really just okay, the kids couldn't eat the pancakes because they were too sugary, even plain without toppings. The sausage is pretty heavy on the sage but the bacon is really good. We'll probably go back as a couple but the kids both said they did not want to come back. read more

Without a doubt the best breakfast in Elkhart and possibly even Michiana. The Fried chicken is phenomenal, the banana bread French toast is so good you won't need syrup. The Potato options are crispy cube potatoes or house made tots and both are great. They make the Gravy from bacon drippings and the biscuits are light and crumbly. They have these cute little bite size dessert balls called butterballs and they're a must try, honestly the owners should just give 1 with each meal and have that be part of their "thing" as they're so unique to this area (atleast in my experience). The name is Tipsy Biscuit and they boast about their amazing biscuits, yet there is no item on the lunch menu that offers said biscuit. While at the restaurant, I saw several people truly upset that they weren't able to order some biscuits and gravy. They weren't alone. I was disappointed as well. The venue is small, yet the service could definitely use some training. My friends and I entered through the west door and didn't see a sign regarding if it was self seating or not. We sat ourselves. We had walked past 2 waitress in the process. We sat for well over 5 mins before we were acknowledged. The waitress then proceeded to tell us that it wasn't self seating and they preferred to seat people. There was no sign indicating that. I felt somewhat scolded. I ordered the grilled cheese with onion rings. My friends ordered the Mac and cheese and a burger. The food was great! I even had a Bloody Mary. They make their own tomato juice in house! Let me preface by saying I know that I am very particular and am frequently disappointed. The Tipsy Biscuit is really good. Initially I was a tad disappointed, as we got there after 11, so it was too late for breakfast. We shared the macaroni and cheese, with (Brussel Sprouts and ham added) which was an amazingly large portion (took half home). Also had a the Croque Madam, which again was a a HUGE sandwich ( took half of that home, as well) and delectable, crispy onion rings. Great coffee and rich, satisfying hot chocolate. The place is decorated adorably and plays great retro music, mostly from the sixties. Don't come here if you are in a rush, as REAL food takes time to prepare and it is worth the wait. I've been here a few times and never had GREAT service but it's been "ok" but they sell liquor so... But I'm writing this review because I had told my friend to go there for her birthday because it was the only place that sold breakfast cocktails around. I am beyond embarrassed that I told her to go there. It was her first time and age and her friend were asked to leave within minutes of finishing their food (plates just cleared) with half a cocktail to drink along with her friend. They planned on having a second but after getting kicked out rudely, could not. I will never go back, nor will my fiancé or either side of my family. And I will make sure my friends know this story along with coworkers. I'm disgusted. She called me crying because she was so embarrassed. After calling the manager she was told "sorry you feel that way but you were diddle daddiling" She was a very successful waitress for almost a decade and said she would have been fired for such behavior. (She also waited 20 minutes longer than what they were told they were going to have to wait) so being rushed out after that is insane! Especially when they were going to continue spending money. Amazing breakfast eats! This place was hopping when we went, and they were able to get us seated. Recommend calling ahead on a Friday morning during Christmas Break! All our food was amazing!!! We had the jalapeño cheddar chicken and waffles, French toast, and chocolate chip pancakes. Huge portions! My 13 year old gave up finishing his tall stack of pancakes :). We were looking for a breakfast place that either had a patio or take out. The Tipsy Biscuit does not have a patio, in fact inside the restaurant is quite quaint (meaning small), but they do offer take out. We placed our order at the counter and then waited outside in the parking lot for our order to be ready. It did not take long for our breakfast order, maybe 15 minutes. I had ordered 2 eggs with potatoes, bacon, and a biscuit. From the first bite, I knew we had chosen well for our breakfast establishment. The food was phenomenal. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The potatoes were good. But it was the biscuit that stood heads above the rest of my breakfast. The first bite was heaven. The biscuit is so fluffy, it melts in your mouth. I was immediately sad that I didn't order a second biscuit to go. Since that first bite, I have been dreaming about the next time I can get back to Elkhart and stop by The Tipsy Biscuit. No one came to serve me for 30mins and then food did not get there for another hour and a half

First time at The Tipsy Biscuit. The restaurant was small, clean, and felt homey. The staff were cool and attentive. I ordered the Sampler which comes with a half of order of biscuits and gravy, 2 proteins, choice of eggs, choice of potatoes, & a pancake. True to the name and priced around $13. I had a good general experience. The pancake was sweet and the blueberries tasted fresh. I enjoyed the homemade sausage but the vegan sausage was too salty/ seasoned. The eggs were decent but the slightly melted cheese slice threw me off. Not a fan of a random piece of sliced cheese. The biscuit was huge and fluffy but the gravy lacked sausage and it had a different flavor, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Currently expecting so I wasn't able to try some of their mimosas. The drink menu looked very appealing to try, especially the starburst mimosa or the horchata iced coffee. I give it 4 stars but will be back to try their other plates! :) read more

I lovED this place. Past tense. It had great food and the atmosphere seemed good but today the owner lost not only my business but I know more. Several customers heard him SCREAM at an employee in the kitchen today. And left with her purse crying. I don't care if she messed up order - no one deserves to be treated like that and as a business owner I would have expected him to handle something like that better. Pull someone to the side. Have a conversation later. There are plenty of other ways to handle a situation other than screaming at someone. Shame on him. I reviews this place last week and didn't recommend it. I came back and the place did a lot better. I'll be honest I love to review places and have given some bad and many good reviews. I have never come back to a bad place I reviewed. No I decided to give this place a second chance. My wife got crab cakes Benedict. They were good. Not sure I like crab for breakfast though. I decided to put them to a good test and got the sampler breakfast. It came with two eggs perfectly cooked over medium, I chose tater tots and they were great. I think they had a hint of cheese in it. It can with two meats so I chose bacon and sausage. Bacon wasn't over cooked. I love my bacon chewie but I think health codes prevent places from making them as undercooked as I like bacon... but the bacon was good. I also got sausage and it was better and had good spices. It also came biscuits and gravy which were great and seasoned well. Finally I had a pancake. A true test of a place's breakfast is the pancakes as I am picky with pancakes... but I loved them. We got full. My only suggestion is to put that house made sausage in the gravy for the biscuits and gravy. We plan to come back! read more
