Had a burger at Dave's this Saturday afternoon with the wife. I had a cheese burger with chilli (hard to find a good one these days). First time here, so I tried the fries. Next time I'll skip the seasoning on the fries. It was a little sweet, almost like the seasoning included sugar. Not my taste. My wife had a Cheeseburger with onion rings. The onion rings were excellent. Now the burgers: they were awesome! The meat was a hefty patty, well seasoned and cooked fresh. Mine, with chilli was so yummy. Service was very good and fast. Plenty of room in the dining room. Good ambience for a burger spot. Kid and family friendly. I'll be going back regularly. And the price was very reasonable! read more

Located near 35 this place is a must go to for both locals and people visiting. It's simple and welcoming. Anyone is sure to feel comfortable here. Decorated with all the info about the zipper ripper which is their legendary challenge. Look at the photo for information on it. The food here is made fresh, it's hot, and it's delicious. I ordered the jalapeno cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and it was delicious. The lettuce was crisp and fresh, cheese was perfectly melted, and the meat was well seasoned. My fries were cooked well and not soggy or overcooked like sweet potato fries sometimes get. The sodas were good too! I loved the root beer. It almost had a little vanilla taste to it. Customer service: C (based on the lack of personality of the young cashier) Location: A Parking: B- (Available, but limited) Atmosphere: A Food quality: A- I'm not sure if the young lady working the cashier was new or unhappy, but her personality & customer service skills gave off "wet mop" vibes. However, the older lady working in the kitchen was very friendly and welcoming. She spoke to us along with the folks behind us. I was low-key worried the beef patties would be unseasoned and lacking flavor. I was pleasantly surprised with my first bite of the burger it was juicy and seasoned very well. Showed up at 3:30 today and the employees told us we couldn't eat in the dining room, because they wanted to close. I asked if we could do the challenge but the employee in the back cut me off and told us to go orders only. 8 of us came and I personally wanted to do the zipper ripper challenge. Had the double cheeseburger and tatter tots with a soda. The burger was delicious, the tots were okay. I think they may need to change the grease in the fryer. The soda machine was not working properly and needed to be cleaned and repaired. The price was fair and there was plenty of seating. read more

Hits the spot. This is a casual local burger joint that is fast and friendly. No hidden frills. Cheeseburger and fries will probably cost you around 8-9 bucks. Friendly staff, and clean environment. What makes this place truly special is the challenge the Zipper Ripper of eating a boatload of food in 12 minutes-- to see if you will win or lose! Should've called it in because it took close to 20 mins for the order to be ready, even though they weren't terribly busyZ Ironically, the burgers taste a lot like Whataburger, which is a good thing in my book. They were pretty good overall, and the order was right and piping hot, so that's good too. My wife liked her sweet potato fries, but my daughter didn't care for her regular fries, and I wasn't wowed by the onion rings either. They looked better than they tasted....and I've seen very few onion rings I didn't like.nice had better burgers, but these weren't serviceable. Dave's was another stop on what my son and I like to call "Burger Quest." We are trying out every Burger joint in the greater Waco area. It's a bit of a drive out to Lacey Lakeview from McGregor to experience this restaurant. In a lot of ways, the drive was worth it. You order at the counter then fill your drink and take a seat. The drink fountain sports several flavors of Boots Soda along with Dr Pepper and brewed tea. The decor is nothing special but it is clean. Dave's offers a food challenge for those who want to finish about four to five pounds of food in twelve minutes. The "Wall of Shame" and "Wall of Fame" boards have numerous pics but are sad substitute for a well decorated and branded dining room. Our food came out quick delivered by our cheerful counter boy. I ordered a cheeseburger, fries, onion rings, and homemade chips. Jacob ordered his usual carnivore delight of a bacon cheeseburger plain and dry with fries as well. Burgers were juicy; veges fresh and crisp. The only disappointment here were the buns. They needed a darker toast to stand up to the other ingredients. They were a little stodgy and limp. More time on the grill would help the bread to support the meat and veg. Fries were good but not all crisp. The homemade chips and onion rings were really crisp; a nice counterpoint to the burger. Everything was hot and fresh. If you're looking for a good standard flat top burger, Dave's is definitely worth a try. read more

The good was delicious, the staff is awesome, the ice cream and brownies - well, the kids loved them so much. This place was clean and spotless. You get a lot of food for your money worth and they have a zipper challenge it looks fun. You have to eat the meal within a time limit and you either get your face on the wall of fame or shame. We really loved this place and felt so welcomed. Also the sodas are awesome, trust me you'll love them. Everything about this place shows the love that the owners put into it. Came here on a Sunday afternoon about 4:30- one other family there. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger with jalapeños and a fried egg as well as a regular hamburger with a fried egg. Split an order of the homemade potato chips. I don't usually give this low of of a rating but usually my fellow helpers are trustworthy so I went based on ratings. Let me be clear: Food- 2.5 Staff- 4 very friendly Pricing- 2 menu price vs. what rings up do not match. Need to increase the amounts on menu Facility- 4. Clean and interesting with exception of bathroom door So after finding out that fries and onion rings were frozen- we opted for the home made chips and they were good. The burgers were juicy, eggs were runny and veg was all fresh. Should be a perfect combination for a great burger. However- the meat was so salty we couldn't even finish half of our burgers. I'm a little more salt sensitive than my husband- but even he was unable to finish. I resorted to putting ketchup and my second and third bites just to mitigate the salt. We left unhappy and not full. I would have gone back up to the counter and had them remade but we had an hour drive home so it wasn't worth it. Dave's food trailer was in Mexia, Tx on Wednesday, April 17th and it was my first time stopping by for food. It came highly recommended by a co-worker. I ordered a double-meat cheeseburger with mustard, extra lettuce & diced onions, and a large order of home fries, and a coke from the sweetest lady in the world. She asked me if this was my first time eating there from the truck and I told her it was my first time trying Dave's Burgers at all. The man cooking, I assume was "Dave" said, "Well we welcome you and thanks for stopping!" She gave me a bunch of business card magnets to pass out where I work. When I got to work, I opened my bag of food at the front gate and shared some of those fries with the guy at the front gate. He was like, "OMG! Those are those good fries! Those homemade ones!" Yes! They were amazing and had a small bite of sweetness to them. I couldn't wait to taste my burger. When I got to my office, I wolfed down a few more handfuls of fries then unwrapped my burger. I was like , I couldn't believe the monster burger I had there. I know it must have been 2/3 pounds of meat on there with 2 perfectly melted slices of American cheese. My bun was perfectly toasted, the perfect amount of mustard was on there as well as my extra shredded lettuce and diced onions. The meat patties were seasoned deliciously with what tasted like a garlic, salt, & pepper blend, maybe a little onion powder too. Whatever seasonings they used made me come to realize that I had just eaten the best burger I had ever eaten in my life. It was so big it made me two meals out of it that day cause I cut it in half. Next time, I will definitely order me two orders of fries. One to eat then and one to save for later because they were the type of fries you could reheat and they'd be just as good as when I got them fresh, unlike those hard fast food matchsticks that you have to eat in 5 minutes or less. Overall, I have to thank my stomach for telling me to stop at Dave's. I go to Waco once a month for my doctor, but now I can look forward to seeing Dave's Burgers food trailer in Mexia. I've always enjoyed their food and today's visit I'd give the food at least 4.5 out of 5 rating. The low rating was for the poor service received by the cashier. She was rude, lazy, and didn't provide good customer service. I believe if she went to Dee's Donuts, they could teach her proper customer service. read more
