Fantastic pizza, the best I've found in many years. Wood fired pizza oven. Great pub grub menu. Great NW Beer selection. The wait staff is a little in consistent but they seem to have a lot of heart. A nice place to go to enjoy the food, your friends, and relax. However, it is always busy, so expect a wait some times. My husband and I went for a late lunch, it was almost 2:00 and thought tha t would be an ideal time to try a place that was getting rave reviews. We ordered and waited and waited and waited. Forty five minutes later we still had not gotten our food, way too long when there were not that many people in the place. The pizza was good, but the crust was burned. I've been to the Toad House a few times in the past, but since the last time I was there I've found no reason to return. The first couple of times I've been there we got pizza. While they do seem to take a while to prepare and cook them, they were decent enough, but not good enough to make me be amazed. It is better than most of the pizza chains around here, however. So with that it's not bad. Since Toad House is also a pub, my bf and I decide to go there for "pub grub" and order the bangers and mash, which runs about $12.00. I always hear about bangers and mash from television, and imagine big sausages and a big portion of mashed potatoes. However when I got it, it was the smallest portion of it I'd ever seen. Hardly even worth $12! 2 small wieners and a palm sized portion of potatoes. You'd think for $12 it must at least taste amazing. But that wasn't even there. I was so upset. This was at least last year, and since then I've seen no reason to return. I hope that they've either dropped the price on that abomination by now or decided to be like a REAL pub and serve the proper proportion. read more

The toad is fantastic. Only problem is, it used to be FANTASTIC!!!!! Still 4 star quality but maybe because I am still romantic with the old days. As a salute to the local submariners they used to have this beer qual card. You drank a beer out of their 100+ beers they offered and they would sign it. After every milestone up to 100 they would give you rewards, your own pint glass hung up at the bar, a shirt, up to your name on their wall of fame! No longer, the place is now a local legend and they did away with that. They got rid of almost half of the selection you used to be able to get. The prices increased dramatically and the time is almost ludicrously long. The customer base grew and so did the time waiting, such is life for great restaurants. Typically however they will hire on more staff. Not so for the toad. If you want great pizza and beer the toad is still the place to go, I just wish you could see it in its former glory! read more

Best pizza place in town (and probably on this whole side of the Sound). That's all I really need to say...but I'll elaborate... The whole roasted garlic appetizer makes me drool thinking about it. I've only ever tried the 'Winning Combo' pizza, no olives, add goat cheese. It is so good I haven't been able to try anything else. Why mess with a sure thing, or haha, a winning combo??! Though I swear next time I dine there I'll try to mix up my order a bit....explore their appetizing menu for once. Maybe half Winning Combo, half something else. Everything else looks delicious too, so I'm sure they won't disappoint. They are super accommodating for people with custom orders & allergies too. They brought out box labels from the kitchen so I could look at the ingredients to avoid allergens. Very friendly staff. This is my go-to delicious pizza place in the area. We have been here several times and always enjoy the pizza. It is a small place, a little nicer than most you find in a plaza. They have some really unusual specialty combos. Today we went plain with the Four Cheese which has mozzarella, Gorgonzola, feta and goat cheese. The crust was perfect and the cheese had just enough tang to it. We only had one piece each, that cheese is filling. $22 for a large, plus you just have to try one of the craft beer. We will be back again. read more

Very good pizza and service with a extremely interesting beer selection which includes many exotic and hard-to-find beers from all over the world. The rest of the menu, that I have had, is not worth it but I have rarely ordered anything other than beer and pizza. The pizza is made with high quality, generally authentic italian, ingredients and cooked just right in a wood burning oven. A long-overdue stellar review for the Toad House. What is there NOT to like about this place??! Seriously. Everything is perfect. Starting with the BEER! The beer selection is phenomenal, and to top it off the servers are knowledgeable and somehow manage to keep up with the enormous rotating selection. Last time I was there, I gave our server a general idea of what I wanted - light on the hops, local - and she came back with three fantastic samples from Kitsap breweries. They carry a number of Seattle brews, too, as well as a smattering of California/Montana/Colorado/further afield microbrews. And the PIZZA! It more than holds its own against the fantastic beer menu. There are all kinds of delicious concoctions on the fixed menu, plus one or two special pies that are generally surprisingly awesome. Our staple is the Bobdacious (pesto! italian sausage! basil! cheesy goodness! nom nom), but they let you do half & half pizzas so we usually mix it up and try something new on the other half. A large pizza gives my boyfriend and I enough to take home for another couple of meals. There's a fun "make your own" pizza option where they actually bring the crust and your selected toppings to the table for you to make up exactly as you wish, then whisk the finished product off to be fired in the wood oven. The Toad House pizza guys are magic makers, though, so I have no qualms putting them in charge! The service is also excellent - very friendly, and generally fast even when the house is packed. I usually make a substitution or two (I pretty much want goat cheese on every pizza I eat, ever...) and they have never once screwed up an order or been anything short of cheerfully accommodating. Basically, I love everything about this place. I'd love them even more if they'd just open shop in Seattle... I can't make the trek to Bremerton often enough to sate my Toad House appetite. I'd heard people talking about this place for awhile, but for some reason thought it was further into Bremerton. But it's right there with easy access from 303 in the little Safeway complex next to Wal-Mart. We split the four cheese pizza, which had a TON of feta. I kept asking my boyfriend if their sauce was sweetened or if it was just the feta putting my tongue into some sort of cheese coma. The pizza would have been better with less feta or something else...olives or something to help offset the flavor. My boyfriend has been here several times and said that the four cheese was not their best pizza that he's tried. We also had the artichoke dip, which was pretty tasty. Service was okay. Our server asked us if we were ready to order and we said no...then he kind of stayed away for longer than necessary (10 minutes perhaps) and I did have to wait awhile for a refill. But he was friendly enough and it didn't take too long for our pizza to come out. They were offering a lunch buffet that I saw a few folks go for, probably a nice option if you work in the area during the week. I think I need to give it another go around to get a complete feel for the place. It's not on my new top places to go when I'm in Kitsap county list...but I'd definitely go here over Dominos. read more

We have been back several times with friends ( no kids, adult time :) ), and this place is really good. Our friends live close to Toad House, so it is an easy swing there for pizza and beer. The pizza is always really good, and we have tried several. Our favorite remains the Four Cheese. The salads are always fresh and tasty. Probably what keeps us coming back the most is their selection of beer. The guys like to try whatever new brew they have on tap, their wine selection is good, too. We haven't been here in quite a few years. Happened to be in the area and decided to check them out. It happened to be a Monday so it was Micro Monday. 9 dollars for a pitcher of ANY beer. Can't beat that price for a good IPA :-) The server was great. Very personable, and knew his stuff. It was pretty quiet since it was more lunch time so our food was pretty quick. Service was good parking was fine. I'm driving past your if your time is going to Sushi and always wanted to stop somebody suggested this to me and I'm glad that we finally went in. I walked up to the open kitchen area, and asked the Chef if he knew if I had been missing out on anything, if I've only ever eaten Peperoni and Pineapple on my Pizza. He was right: Pepperoncinis MADE this pizza! The ambiance and food are second only to the outstanding staff and service. You can't buy a bad pizza, or anything else... and you won't be able to leave unhappy. The beer is fresh, and he prices are incredibly fair. Other reviews have gone in-depth on this restaurant and pub but I felt the need to add another voice to the few that liked the food and selection of beers but didn't appreciate the service. I went in expecting it to be slow since I read the reviews before going so I wasn't surprised. The cook was even getting aggravated with the waitress. The place wasn't full and there was no reason for the slow service other than a slow waitress. About all I can say. I will return here because Kitsap needs more places like this and maybe the management will read this and make a change. I suggest you try it too but be prepared. I don't have anything bad to say about this place, but nothing about any visit was above average. I guess if I drank more, I would appreciate the massive beer selection. We arrived on a Monday which was very lucky ! 3$ taps all Monday was amazing. My boyfriend had the silver city toad house pale it was cold and delicious. I had the sour caldera and was not disappointed. I highly recommend the artichoke dip , the bread it came with was perfectly toasted and paired divinely with the hot creaminess of the dip. Probably one of the worst pizzas I've ever had. Nothing is seasoned, the dough is so bland. Sauce is terrible. We got charged for toppings that they forgot to put on the pizza. Every server is only out for themselves, i tried to get help from one of the 3 people walking past me and they completely avoided eye-contact and were very unhelpful. Everything took forever. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I came with a large group (9 people) The made us wait over 30 minutes to sit at the only table that was large enough to accommodate our group size when there were only 3 people sitting at the table waiting for their checks. Eventually they took care of the customers, who were still conversing with each other and set them up at a smaller table. The host was very short and never smiled through the entire process. We waited patiently and never expressed frustration. However, the host seemed as if it was a big hassle seating us at all. I finally went to the Toad House after living here for just over a year and I will say, this is the BEST PIZZA I have had in Kitsap County. My experience was a little different though. We got there and the place was fairly empty and the hostess asked us where we would like to sit, we pointed to a table in front and was told to pick another in case a big party came and they could combine tables, why ask us where we want to sit. So we were seated and then nothing, no one came to offer us drinks or take our order. Walked up to the bar and ordered the wife a glass of cabernet and I had the Bain Bridge Island Pale Ale, both were very good. Ordered the Standard Pizza with extra sauce and it came with extra cheese, I like sauce so a priority remake was put in. We ended up taking the pizza to go as we had to feed and walk the dog at home. Sat down to eat the pizza and it was heaven, the best pizza I have had in a long while. The sausage was slightly spicy and the sauce was awesome. I gave this place a 4 overall but I will break it down: Food 5 plus, Bartender 4.5, hostess 1, ambience 5. I will repeat but I now know what to expect. read more

I can't believe this was my first time here and I have lived so close for 8 years!!! I was looking for a casual and quiet place for lunch while running errands with my 2 toddlers, figured why not pizza? I was very impressed that they were offered to make their own pizza and that the staff didn't mind the mess my kiddos made. They gave them coloring books while we waited. I only have 4 stars because although I was pleased with their staff, ambiance, and pizza my sandwich left something to be desired. The way the menu described it sounded way better than what was delivered. I think next time I will stick to pizza with the kids. read more

The fella and I tried The Toad House out a couple weeks ago and wished we had sooner. I was expecting something a little less embellished for being in a strip mall (shame on me for stereotyping), but it's surprisingly decked out fairly well inside with cozy low lighting. It's not the very best pizza I've had in my life, but for the area it's very good. We shared the Balkan Salad and The Toad pizza (pesto, chevre, artichoke hearts and pine nuts) and both were great. The pizza dough was nice and chewy but thin enough as to not be too bready, and the toppings were a tasty combination. The salad ingredients were fresh and crisp, though in my opinion it would be even better if they'd used kalamata instead of black olives. I had a glass of pinot grigio and the husband had an IPA; they have a pretty large selection of beverages to choose from. Our servers were very nice and attentive. I ordered pizzas to be delivered to my daughters birthday party on Grubhub, they had the option to choose a specific time for the pizzas to be ready & delivered on time. I placed the order online at 2:15pm to be delivered at 3:45pm. Shortly before my pizzas were supposed to be delivered, I received a voicemail stating two of my items would not be available & Grubhub would be issuing me a refund. I then received a message stating my order was running late. Because I wasn't getting any information on why my order was so delayed, I called Toadhouse directly to find out what was holding it up. They stated, the driver had been there ready to pick up the order for a while. When I asked why it wasn't ready, I didn't get an actual answer. I told the woman, I had arranged for this to be delivered at a specific time and the woman stated, I don't know what to tell you, your food wasn't ready. Not once did she apologize or actually try to look into what happened. When the driver arrived an hour late, he stated, this happens every time he delivers something for Toad House. He said they are consistently an hour or more late all the time. It's disappointing that I spent almost $200 for pizza to arrive an hour late & your hostess could care less that someone was inconvenienced because you don't have things more organized. None of this was Grubhub's fault, the driver actually apologized several times, unlike Toad House. We will not be coming back here. read more
