Breakfast Burger w/ truffle fries and a Sunrise
    Violet H.

Tried The Toast & Jam in Inglewood today. Walking in was a little confusing at first because there isn't really a host stand or podium when you enter, you're basically walking straight into the dining area. I had read reviews mentioning a sign-in sheet and noticed a yellow notebook on the wall, but before we even got to it, one of the servers greeted us warmly and asked how many were in our party. He let us know there were two tables available and let us choose where we wanted to sit, which was nice and easy. To drink, I ordered the Sunrise, which is lemonade and orange juice mixed together. It tasted exactly like what it sounds like, refreshing, but nothing super memorable. For food, I ordered the breakfast burger with truffle fries. The truffle fries were good and came with a honey mustard dipping sauce that I actually really liked. I almost wanted to ask them what brand they use. The burger had very fresh ingredients and didn't taste bad at all, but overall it was pretty basic. I do think it could've used a little more sauce, though thankfully it wasn't dry because of the avocado, tomato, onion, and other toppings. My friend ordered the catfish and waffle with two wings on the side, and honestly her food seemed to be the standout. I tried some of the catfish and it was flavorful and well seasoned. She really enjoyed her meal and ate most of it. Overall, I wouldn't say the food was bad at all. Everything tasted exactly as described on the menu. For me personally, there just wasn't anything that made me want to come back and explore more of the menu. But if you're looking for a casual breakfast/brunch spot in Inglewood with friendly service and decent food, it's worth trying at least once.

The food was good, but the chicken was mid; something was off with it that day. Waffles were delicious! The wait for our food was extremely long, which is why the stars are so low. We came on a Sunday after church. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here again.

Some of the best brunch in all of LA!! banging catfish, all of their fish is cooked to perfection, and the Chicken and Waffles is next-level (fried exactly how I like it). Customer service is amazing. This is a Black-owned, women-owned restaurant and it is a 10/10 all around. I'll definitely be back.

I ordered catfish, cheesy grits and scrambled eggs-medium with wheat toast. I ordered online for pick up, it was ready in about 12 minutes on a late Saturday morning. The catfish was fried, seasoned and cooked perfectly. The grits were good but the cheese was not mixed in, so the cheese was stuck to the paper. The eggs were good and scrambled just right. They buttered the toast and I added grape jelly. This was a nice late breakfast for me. They offer waffles, fried wings, bacon, sausage, and many other breakfast options. The place is a little on the small side but there's a food amount of tables and chain side and a seating area outside. Metered street parking is available. There are other businesses in the area and people are coming and going. I've never had a hard time finding parking on the block.

Really enjoyed this spot! Service was great and the food was really good. Will definitely be back. Bully omelette was good but I'm coming back for that Catfish!

What a hidden little gem in Inglewood. We were in the area for a funeral and decided to get a bite to eat before we left. We asked the locals and this is where we were sent. Cool little place. Food was delicious and atmosphere cozy. I had the chicken and waffles and the Mr. Had the fried catfish sandwich. Service was wonderful I believe our server was Miguel. We will definitely come back.

Service is great. Coffee is AMAZING. Portions are small and bill was 54 something for two plates and coffees. That's high for the food that we got. I ordered the waffle and chicken wings which were the size of buffalo wings (3). My plate was 23 dollars. It came with perfectly prepared eggs too. My son got the breakfast burger with potatoes. (See pics). His plate was 19. Food is good and again, coffee is excellent. Miguel was a great server. He was prompt, friendly and gave had amazing energy with a beautiful smile. Parking is metered for 2 hours. This is a cute, little breakfast spot.

    Chicken and waffles

The toast & jam has the BEST chicken and waffles in all of California. We've been frequenting this establishment for the past 8 years, and even though we moved an hour away, we still make a point to stop by for breakfast. The chicken wings are a special kind of magic, perfectly crunchy while succulently juicy. This place truly does not disappoint.

If you live in LA you know many soul food restaurants are not open on Mondays and some Tuesdays. I wanted grits, eggs, pancakes, catfish, something along those lines. I found this little gem without the pancakes. They serve waffles instead. It's weird when you walk in because there isn't a podium or area to check in. The waiter came out and said I could sit anywhere. There are 5-6 tables inside that seat 4 people and one bar height table that seats 2. Outside seating has 2-4 tables. I was going to take out but since it wasn't crowded I decided to eat in (Monday at noon). I wanted the waffle, egg and catfish combo but there wasn't any catfish. I changed it to wings. I also ordered a side of cheesy grits. It took about 10 - 15 minutes which isn't bad. Everything looked great. I try grits wherever I go. Always! Even when I travel. These grits were sooo good. I only added butter and they were flavorful. Not bland. AND they were creamy! The only negative was the cheese wasn't mixed in. The waffle was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside!....sooo good. The wings were fried and seasoned perfectly. The eggs were scrambled nicely. I tried not to eat everything. I wanted to save some for later. I ate all the grits and half of the waffle combo. The waiter was nice and friendly. I will definitely return and try to get the catfish.

Service team was so nice and efficient. Food was delicious. Asked to speak to the Owner to let her know how wonderful my experience was, and she was delightful. Nice lunch/brunch after church :-) Definitely going back! The side of tomatoes were so good with their sprinkle of herbs. It also came with buttery sourdough toast that was yum!

Everything was perfect from the staff to the patrons and don't even get me started on the delicious food ! I usually get the wings and waffle. The wings are old school...season, drop em in flour then into the hot oil. Not that over battered nonsense! Today l had an omelet with Chipotle aioli sauce and grits. My friend had a ginormous breakfast sandwich. DE-LIPSMACKING-LICIOUS!! (Yes, that's a word bc l said so!) Now we have the Itis and need a nap IYKYK! Do come with an empty belly. You will not be disappointed

Classic breakfast with catfish and sourdough
    Nick D.

Great local awesomeness. Ordered classic breakfast with catfish, potatoes and sourdough. Fantastic. The catfish was perfect. Not a lot of "ambiance" but staff were dressed well, and incredibly polite and kind. Very welcoming to a traveler like myself. I look forward to visiting again!

    Classic breakfast with wings
    Drizzy J.

Just left about 5 minutes ago and my overall opinion is that the place is very basic. I had the classic breakfast with wings. Eggs scrambled hard, wheat toast and breakfast potatoes. Chicken wings were basic, not much seasoning. Hot sauce needed. Eggs were basic. The breakfast potatoes looked great but had ZERO flavor. I had a bite of my girlfriend's waffle and again was very basic. Not much flavor. My toast was amazing. My biggest complaint is that the place is called Toast and Jam but they serve prepackaged Smuckers jam. What a let down. The best part about this place was the food came out fast. They also charged my card for the wrong order then refunded and charged me again. Probably won't come back.

    Waffle, cheese eggs, fried catfish.

Howdy folks. In this edition of Nasty Nathanial's "Nasty" reviews I am going to be telling you all…read moreabout a groovy little place called The Rusty Pot Cafe. What is there to say about The Rusty Pot Cafe? Actually, there is a lot to say and I am going to get into that right now. So strap on your safety belts because we're blasting off to good ol' Inglewood. Located in the heart of Downtown Inglewood, this place truly is a gem. I first came here back in 2018 when myself and a fellow activist known as the Angry Gay Pope came to Inglewood to do an infiltration of the Scientology Org located directly across the street. I could go on and on about that place. But this review isn't about Scientology. It's about The Rusty Pot Cafe. But before we could begin our work, we decided to go grab a bite to eat. This was how I first discovered The Rusty Pot Cafe. So fast forward to 2026, I found myself back in Los Angeles. I had traveled there with a friend of mine who had some legal matters to attend to at the LAX Courthouse. We won't get into that either. So instead of sitting around in court all morning, I decided to head on over to The Rusty Pot Cafe. I ended up walking all the way from the LAX Courthouse over to Downtown Inglewood. For those of you reading this who live in LA may be asking yourself, why didn't he just take the Metro? That's a good question. By the time I arrived at The Rusty Pot Cafe I had worked up quite an appetite. One of the first things I noticed upon arrival is that they still had the same style sign hanging over the entrance. It's like one of those banner type of signs with the businesses name and phone number on it. You know the kind you'd see hanging on the side of a flatbed truck during a parade. I love it. I like how they haven't changed the sign's style. To me a sign like this ads character to the place. Plus it brought back memories from my original visit here. Upon walking into The Rusty Pot Cafe I was immediately flooded with a boatload of memories. This place was exactly how I remembered it. White walls with black tables and pieces of art hanging on the walls. It's not over the type flashy. But not a Plain Jane kind of a place either. More of a humble kind of a feel. Just enough character to make you feel right at home. Or at least to me it did. Anyways, I walked over to one of the tall tables and sat down. It wasn't long before I was greeted by a friendly, and handsome, Latino waiter. He was friendly and had the smile of a Hollywood actor. But not a phony kind of way that you see at a lot of restaurants where the servers are constantly trying to upsell you. It was that of a waiter who really cares about the customers he is serving. He didn't hesitate to bring me some freshly brewed coffee. This really hit the spot as would the burger that would soon follow. Now I'm not going to be shy when I say that The Rusty Pot Cafe has the best burger in all of Los Angeles. I know that may seem like a bold statement. But it's true. I've eaten at a lot of burger joints in and around LA and I've stuffed some tasty burgers into my belly. But none of them have tasted near as good as The Rusty Pot Cafe's burger. It puts In-N-Out's burgers to shame. The angus beef is soooooooo delicious and they cook it just the way meat should be cooked for a burger. Not well done and not rare either. But just enough so that those wonderful flavors come out of the patty and into your mouth. My oh my did this hit the spot. So did the flavor able fries that were served with the burger. Seriously The Rusty Pot Cafe's house burger is AMAZING! I highly recommend it. This burger is better than sex. The service at The Rusty Cafe is also top notch. The waiters were very attentive and are always checking on the customers to see if any of us needed more coffee or water or another margarita. Hold it. They don't serve margaritas here. You got to go to Los Amigos for that. But I think you get the idea. I really dig this. One thing I hate is when you go somewhere to eat and the servers let your drink go empty. Then you got to flag someone down in order to get some more coffee or whatever you're drinking. That is such rubbish. But that is not a problem at The Rusty Pot Cafe. Their servers will make sure your cup gets refilled before it goes empty. These folks are right on top of it. So if you have gotten to this point, I am sure you will see that I really love The Rusty Pot Cafe. I live about 3 hours north of Los Angeles and I would make a trip down there just so I can go eat at The Rusty Pot Cafe. And that's real talk. So if you happen to be in the LA area and want to fill your belly with some delicious food, I highly recommend that you make the trek over to Downtown Inglewood and check out The Rusty Pot Cafe. I know I will. Plus I'd like to see that handsome waiter again. Wink, wink. Thank you for reading and may the burgers continue to be better than.... Ok, ok. I think you get the idea. Happy trails.
