    Shredded chicken hard shell tacos
    Bridgette R.

Listen...I hate to give this review, but I hate spending my money, and the food isn't consistent, and tastes the same each time. This place can be a hit or miss, and I hate the days they miss because I'm normally starving. The shredded chicken hard shell tacos were not tasty. The chicken had no seasoning at all. The salsa they send is never enough. In order for me to finish them I needed all that sauce. Please do better, and be consistent with your flavors as that's what keeps us coming back.

    Wet burrito
    Carla B.

Had the wet burrito with red sauce. The taste was okay--the red sauce was good, the meat was decent, and the beans and rice were solid. But the burrito didn't quite give me that fresh, classic "wet burrito" taste I was hoping for. Here's how I wish it would've tasted: * Thicker, wetter steak--more of a chopped style meat. * The beans and rice were great, no complaints there. * The tortilla was fine. * The red sauce was solid. * The cheese, though--I'd switch it up. The flavor and quality of the cheese didn't quite scream "wet burrito" to me. I wanted something meltier and more flavorful--give me Monterey Jack, asadero, or a good Mexican blend. I also realized it was the sliced meat (instead of chopped) that threw me off. Price was about $13.

To say that I am obsessed with this place is an understatement. I love their brunch menu but their new dinner menu is also AMAZING. I had the enchiladas suizas and one of their mezcal drinks and the food was fresh and delicious. Everyone is always so attentive and the vibes are also great!

Amasxbxosks.... Sorry... Had to wipe the drool from my screen... AMAZING FOOD, SERVICE, AND STAFF! This place always hit the spot on so many dishes. I visit so many places, and this is one that I can guarantee will be delicious. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME! The place is always clean. Whether busy or not, the staff is always quick and food comes out as fast as it can. I love seeing them being so busy because it only confirms how good the food is. It's always very homely and you will always get a smiling face welcoming you in. I've been coming here frequently for over a year, and I look forward to all my futures visits.

    Detox smoothie
    Chandra J.

Was told by a friend to check out Puerto Nuevo Coffee as they have good smoothies and to go items. After finding them, which is a little difficult, as they are tucked in a strip mall and the best way to park and walk in is through the back. I was warmly greeted and asked for a menu as this was my first time there. I flipped through the menu and decided to order their detox smoothie in a large that came with strawberry, pineapple, kale, spinach and apple juice. The smoothie was thick, but oh so refreshing with a little hint of sweetness from the mix of fruits. Next time I am coming back for a bigger breakfast as the plates that went by looked fabulous!

    Mole steak
    Darice L.

Not only is this is our go-to neighborhood breakfast spot with both American and Mexican choices, it's about to be our favorite dinner restaurant! We just had incredible steaks that were cooked to perfection and generously proportioned. My husband had the rib eye and I had the mole steak. So delicious! On top of that they are servicing cocktails. We had the old fashioned and Oaxacan old fashioned and they were tasty well-priced! They are opening for dinner Thursday-Sunday soon

Green cheese enchilada with taco dorado (not pictured)

I am so excited to write this review! I've been coming here for 25 years, but I don't get to enjoy but about once a year now because I live a bit far. I LOVE the complimentary nachos, which can be ordered in a larger size. Today, I got a green juice (the #3) and a taco dorado and enchilada verde combo. Juice was refreshing and perfectly green and sweet. My food was exceptionally flavorful! My brother got a grilled chicken wet burrito with red and green sauce. The chicken was flavorful!! Excellent service! I saw one familiar face from back in the day, but the newbies I saw were still so nice and attentive. I can't wait to go back.

Chips that came with Mexican sausage skillet. Iced caramel latte
    Ruby P.

This is a small busy Mexican American restaurant (not cafe! no guest wifi) near a K line train station. After I chose a spot and sat down, the waitress "Mei" greeted me soon and nicely explained how things worked to me. I ended up getting a Chorizo (Mexican sausage) skillet and a glass of iced caramel latte. The skillet came with chips and tortillas. All of them were good! Mei also came by my table several times to make sure things were ok. It was super busy and packed on the Sunday late morning/noon I went. People were waiting at the entrance to be seated. Since it was so busy and people were waiting, a waiter kindly asked me to leave after I had paid. I still had some coffee when he told me that. So if you don't want to have the same disturbing experience as mine, you probably don't want to come here during a busy weekend. I'd give 5 stars if I had not been asked to leave before finishing my coffee.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and everything was presented really well. The enchiladas were flavorful, the grilled fish was cooked perfectly, and the tortillas with the short rib were a table favorite. Portions were great for sharing, and the sauces really tied everything together. Service was friendly and our server checked in on us throughout the night without making us feel rushed. It did get a little busy, so there were a few waits between courses, but nothing that took away from the experience. Our waiter then told us we needed a specific Dine LA reservation, something that was never mentioned when I called or when I made the reservation. I've been to plenty of Dine LA restaurants and have never experienced this. The service wasn't necessarily bad, but it was very dismissive. No apology, no real explanation--they basically just brushed it off. Thankfully, the food saved the night! The Michelada oysters were TO DIE FOR--seriously one of the best oyster flavors I've ever had. We also had the short rib plate, which was delicious. The outdoor atmosphere and decor are really cute too. I would come back, but ONLY for those oysters--definitely not for the service.

Sonoratown was our first stop as it was highly recommended by my boyfriend's brother, and it did not disappoint. It immediately earned a spot in our top five favorite taco spots for carne asada in all of Southern California! The location that we went to is located in between Elysium DTLA and Perfumeria Starlux on E 8th St in downtown LA. There is only paid(?) street parking around the area that could be extremely difficult to find during work days. Because we couldn't snag a spot, my friends and I opted for takeout and didn't end up eating until about 30 minutes later. Despite the travel time, the tacos were still absolutely incredible--I can only imagine how spectacular it tastes fresh! My friends and I ordered the carne asada tacos, and my boyfriend opted for the cabeza. Before I even took a full bite, I tasted a piece of the loose carne asada and was blown away; it was perfectly cooked with a wonderful tenderness and deep smokiness. The use of a single, thin, handmade flour tortilla--rather than the standard double corn--was a total game-changer and exactly how I preferred my tacos. The salsas were equally impressive, offering fantastic flavor and a great kick. My boyfriend's cabeza taco was just as standout, featuring super-tender meat with a rich, savory profile. Wowowow! Between the exceptional meat quality, bold flavors, and great value, this is easily one of the best taco spots I've visited. It's a huge bummer that they don't have a location down in San Diego, but we will definitely be back!

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.
