I enjoyed the sandwich and salad combo. My BLT was outstanding! The bread was buttery, toasted and thick. There were 3 thick strips of folded bacon, with tomato, and leaf lettuce. The bacon was chewy.  My fingers were greasy from the buttery bread and wet from the tomato and lettuce dripping with the mayo. Fabulous! The strawberry salad was fresh, and the chicken sliced very thin. But the chicken was very bland, and there were few strawberries on the salad for the salad to have this name. The vinaigrette was poured on with a heavy hand as well. I won't select this salad again. The lemonade was a disappointment.  It tastes artificial and sweet. I'm looking forward to eating here again to try something different. I don't believe this is truly a 3-star restaurant (based on my sandwich) and would like to see how this review can be improved. read more

Slightly above average, but overall pretty mediocre. I wish Yelp offered a 3.5 star rating, because that's the rating I feel this restaurant deserves. I think the reason The Toasted Yolk is so popular is because it is one of the only sit-down breakfast places in the area. In the times I've gone, I've found: 1. Service is 100% dependent on your waiter. Not a lot of consistency here. I've had excellent service and also terrible service. This can make or break the overall dining experience. 2. Expensive. This place is not cheap - the average cost of a breakfast entree (think omelette, scramble, etc.) is roughly $16 before tax and tip. For the price, they only include a side choice of english muffin or biscuit - toast is an upcharge (I've never experienced this in any breakfast restaurant before, and found it cheap of them + bizarre). 3. The food is good if you know what to order. I've made the mistake of ordering "The Toasted Yolk" signature meal, which was awful. The hashbrown casserole is also very bad and was served to me cold. However, I've also ordered the vegetarian scramble which is delicious. My husband always goes for the Brisket Tacos, which he says are consistently good. The churro donuts are fantastic as well. I don't think I'd go here nearly as much if I had more options in the area, but it is an overall decent place to grab a sit-down breakfast. read more

Summarizing my experience in one wordl- Fantastic! The food and service were outstanding. This visit I went with the two egg breakfast with the hash brown casserole (which was just simply scrumptiously delicious) eggs over medium (cooked to perfection) bacon (nice and crispy just as I ordered) and sourdough toast. (Could have been toasted a little bit more for my liking, but not bad the bread had great flavor ). Service was attentive and friendly, and the coffee cup was kept full. Stephanie was great and checking on us throughout our time at the restaurant. I really like this place... Very cool vibe and a great place to have a breakfast meeting... Plenty of space between tables to have a conversation. Needless to say, I like this place and will be back. Really great place to go to for your typical type of breakfast and brunch food! The service is awesome and we didn't have to wait when we went in for Saturday lunch. Besides having your typical breakfast staples, they also have a seasonal menu with some creative items! I got the strawberry pico pollo pancakes which reminded me of a mix of strawberry pancakes and tacos and also chicken and waffles. I was personally a big fan of this dish because I love combining savory and sweet. But I can see others not really liking it if they don't like this combo because the sweetness of the pancakes themselves with the red onion can be a bit weird. Woah baby, that line! We were so excited to get a breakfast/brunch place built right by us and apparently so was everyone else. Visited the Toasted Yolk very early on and the prices were a major slap in the face. Portions are decent but I'd almost expect more with the cost being so high. I had the eggs Benedict and they were alright. I've had better. The hash brown casserole is SO good. Service, I won't judge because we went so early on and I know the staff was still adjusting. Parking is a madhouse but I think everyone just fights for the closest spot. Restaurant is maintained and pleasant. The owner comes by and makes sure everything is good. My husband and I have been trying a few different breakfast places as of late. Now, we tried this one when it first opened, and was not that happy with it, but we chalked it up to "being new..and still working out kinks". Sad to say, it has not improved! Now, we were going to use the waitlist online, but found out, it was less then 5 min, we did not. We got there after 8am on a Sunday, and was shocked to find, no line, and got seated right away. There was maybe like 5 other tables that were occupied at that time, which was surprising. The strangest thing was this busser guy standing against the windows on the left side like a statue, and just looking out at the dinning room. It seemed very creepy! LOL. Come to find out after we sat, and a table left, he was the bus boy, and went over and cleaned off the plates and wiped down the table, so fast, it was like watching the ball person at a tennis match, catching all the stray balls on the court. And, after the table was clean, he went back into the "still position" (like a ball person) against the window again. LOL Our waitress was very spry for early Sunday morning. We joked with her, as we saw the alcohol drinks on the menu, that we wish we could get one of these right now. She said "You can order one of those if you like". Ummm....we said, "No, we can't..it is Sunday and can't serve alcohol until 10am on Sunday (as we have experienced at other restaurants before)". She just laughed it off. We stuck to our coffees and waters. Now, my husband, LOVES his breakfast burritos (swear, he has tried one at any breakfast place we go)! So, he opted for it here. He asked the waitress, "Is it big?'. She replied, "Yes, it has 4 eggs in it" (*menu says 3 eggs). She asked if he wanted hash browns with that, he said "yes". Not realizing until it arrived, the "hash browns" was actually like a "hashbrown casserole" type thing. Now, he was also disspointed in the size of the burrito (see pic). It was not that big, and had this queso type sauce mixed with red sauce. It did have sausage it, but could barely taste it. I had a bite, and mostly egg and onion flavor. Now, I have seen at last few places I have been, a "Country Fried Steak", and like going to Italian places (and eating the Chicken Parm), this is usually a good test for a breakfast place on frying the steak and also the gravy. In this case, they both failed! Most place, at least the gravy was good, but this one did not have much taste at all. Then, the most sad, steak itself! Now, where most restaurants fail is the breading, and this one did, and just cutting into it (*which, by the way, would have been better with a steak knife, not just a butter knife). The breading just came right off, and tasted it by itself, and again, not much flavor. But, was dissappointed me the most, was the steak was over cooked and very tough! Now, if the reasons above was not bad enough, the waitress was hard to track down to get coffee refills. But, when I did, asked her if I could could just a get side of Sourdough toast. Five minutes later, I got a small plate with, what I determined, was wheat toast. It looked nice and toasted, but not what I wanted. She took it away, and brought out, what I think was just white bread (not sourdough), and worst part of all,,,the two pieces of bread was buttered and very soft...so soft I could fold it in half. There was not "toast" to it at all! It was not worth trying to track her down again, and trying again. I was now done. Sorry, Toasted Yolk, I will not be back! :( read more

When my favorite nephew comes to town, we like to indulge his "try a new place" itch and the recently opened Toasted Yolk Cedar Park made the perfect brunch option for our family group. I joined the wait list online via web browser https://book.w8li.st/waitlist/the-toasted-yolk-cafecedar-park and we made our way out about 3 miles northwest of Brushy Creek Park on Parmer Lane (which becomes Ronald Reagan Blvd. in this part of Wilco). Despite being open for just a couple of weeks, the place was packed at 10:30a on a Sunday. Every available waiting seat in the small hostess area and outside the door was full. Luckily, our party's reservation came up immediately and we got straight to our table. Upon entry, we noticed the cute hand-painted artwork by Deanna Frye around the room and the full bar at the back of the open-concept dining area. Their motto is "It's never too early to get TOASTED," so if day drinking is your thing, do as thou wilt (within reason). The mimosa and spiked coffee drink menus are extensive; beer & wines, more limited. We had the "gourmet" coffee, which was just fine and served in a cute branded mug available for purchase. The breakfast food menu includes decadent pastries like churro donuts & waffles, as well as the usual egg-focused options like omelets, scrambles, and poached eggs Benedict variations that they call "Arnolds". For the sides, you have cheese grits and loaded hash browns, or fresh fruit. Meats include sausage patties, links, including turkey or chicken options, and applewood bacon. The lunch menu adds an assortment of sandwiches, soups, and salads to the mix. I feel like anyone with diet restrictions could find something to enjoy from the list. We ordered an assortment of offerings and all liked our food. Meals did seem a tad expensive to me (around $12-17 per meal, plus $4 each for bottomless coffee), but the portions were large and all ingredients seemed extremely fresh and high-quality. Our total bill for 4 diners before tip was $69, steep for breakfast on a regular basis, but okay for "once and a while" for us. Toasted Yolk reminds me of the many other brunch-themed chains that have been popping up in the last few years around town, albeit with a boozy, Texas twist. The company was founded in Houston in 2010 and recently ventured into the franchise business, with 27 locations around the South and as many more slated to open in 2023. Pro-tip: Sign up for their email club and get a free order of donuts at your next visit, as well as during your birthday month. I thought both were scrumptious. The place seems pretty popular so there is a wait time. I sat at the bar, and met some new friends which was quite nice. Looking for someplace new for Breakfast. So I headed to the Toasted Yolk. It says only an 28 minute drive but it felt longer. On a weekday it was not crowded, actually only two tables besides myself. My server was there to inquire what I'd like to drink. Coffee no cream and he disappeared. He did take a while getting back there, but I did get my coffee. It gave me time to look over their menu and decide what I wanted. I chose the two eggs breakfast deluxe. That included two eggs, breakfast meat, grits, or hash brown casserole, and a biscuit. Once he had that information, he disappeared again. For only a couple of people in the restaurant, the food seem to take a while to come out. It looks like the standard fair that I usually get at a breakfast restaurant. I must admit the bacon was crispy. The eggs were OK. May be a little over cooked for my liking. Grits were normal nothing special. And then there was the biscuits which was decent. The place remind me of an IHOP, or Denny's set up. Nothing fancy. The only thing they have that makes them stand out is alcohol for breakfast. If that's what you like this is the place to go. It was our first time here, the menu is overwhelming and Tristan was every bit of patient with us. This was much appreciated. I'd say that we are now regulars here. My husband and I love to get their club sandwich and Reuben. We could do without their so so fries, nothing unique about them, so I'd recommend another option of side. Other than that, all was good. This was my first trip to The Toasted Yolk-Breakfast/Brunch & Lunch Cafe in Cedar Park. The large laminated menu had breakfast on one side-lunch on the other and a separate large adult beverage menu. I must say the bar was quite active on this Friday morning. I observed many mimosas, glasses of wine and sangria being served. They had about 20 different varieties of specialty coffee drinks. They also had standard beverages like orange juice, milk, coffee, and soda. The food was upscale. I didn't see any thing as plain as eggs and toast although I'm sure it could be ordered à la carte! There were probably 10 different varieties of Eggs Benedict. Lots of other egg dishes, including four egg, omelettes, and breakfast bowls with grains and eggs or grains alone. Their version of breakfast potatoes is a potato casserole. There were seasonal crêpes available. They are known for their shrimp and grits, which I plan to try on a return visit. It's rare when my husband and I actually are able to go out and have breakfast together! He had two eggs over easy, three strips of bacon, and a biscuit with butter and jelly. I opted for what I called "toad in the hole," (which I have made my grand children for years) but have not eaten myself since I was a child. Their version was designed with two slices of sourdough bread, the middles removed, then stacked and per my request over easy eggs inserted. It was very good. My plate was accompanied by their potato casserole, two sausage patties, and a small container of fresh fruit. It was quite a bit of food, and we ended up taking half a biscuit along with the sausages, and potato casserole home. I am not sure of the ingredients in the potato casserole. I found it rather bland (and it reminded me of Cracker Barrel's potato casserole,) which I believe is quite popular but my preference is hash browns. I think the simplest thing on the menu was oatmeal. Our server was very pleasant. He gave us plenty of time to study the menu when we told him it was our first time in -usually I'll ask what the favorite dish is -but I failed to do that! Our food came out in a timely manner and as ordered. One minor complaint- I was never offered a warm up on my coffee. -I must admit, It was a large mug. The atmosphere, patron wise, ranged from someone with a laptop open in front of them to lots of ladies having brunch. There were men scattered here and there. The property itself is beautiful. It's quite large and I bet on the weekends it's full up.!! With tax and tip for two of us (without any alcohol) it was right at $45. Let's start with the ability to join the waitlist online. This would be a dealbreaker if it weren't available. But it is, and works well. We went twice while babysitting our grandkids and I really appreciated how the staff members interacted with the three-year-old. The restaurant is lively, but not too difficult for hearing. TV's show sporting events, so if you're interested you can avoid talking to people at your table that way rather than the current method of burying your face in your cellphone. The food is great. The yogurt parfait was excellent and I shared it with my 10-month-old granddaughter who found it very exciting. The egg dishes we tried (brisket scramble, a build-your-own omelette) were tasty. The biscuits were flakey and delicious. Beverage service was prompt, although my coffee could have been refilled a little quicker. The only complaint was the wait for food after ordering. Now, to be fair, our visits were Saturday around 10:30 AM and Sunday at 12:30 PM, both prime brunch times and the place was hopping. I didn't put a stopwatch to it but it was long enough for the kids to get a little bored and my wife and me to comment to each other about it. We've passed this place quite a bit and decided to go in one morning when there wasn't a whole parking lot full of people. The food was very expensive for smaller portions. The hash brown casserole was very good. The French toast was ok. Eggs and everything ok as well but not worth the price. The atmosphere was also pretty weird. The decor is really weird. Newly opened, they're still working kinks out on their wait list, seating, and service. The wait was longer than they projected, waitress was absent for a long period to start, and our drinks didn't come until after our food. Those are hopefully things that will improve. Decor was modern. However, the walls are strangely bare and leads to the place being extremely loud... and many of the tables were empty (don't think they were fully staffed to seat all tables). Food-wise, the menu is large, all though unimaginative for the breakfast items. I got the cowboy scramble - biscuits with gravy, eggs, and meat on it. It was solid but not anything I would rave about. The hash brown casserole was outstanding though. Wife got an Benedict, but the eggs were overcooked and essentially hardboiled. Wonderful experience! The restaurant is clean, open and light. Service was top notch!! Ask for Alex, he was the best server and I enjoyed his friendly banter and kind demeanor. He checked on us regularly and when we were finishing up, Alex brought a coffee to go without me having to ask. Now onto the food! Wonderful food and plated with love. We first heard about the Toasted Yolk at a family fun fair in August and we have been meaning to try them but we hadn't made the time until now. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was very nice. Granted, it wasn't too busy on a Wednesday morning. My son had the seasonal crepes which had Nutella, bananas, strawberries and caramel. He thought they were very good but really rich and too sweet. He wasn't able to finish them. I had the southern fried Arnold and was so incredibly pleased with the portion and the taste. The gravy was great and the chicken wasn't over fried or dry. The biscuits were also still fluffy even though they were under the gravy, chicken and egg. Omg yum! First time for us. I got the brisket scramble with the jalapeños on the side cuz I'm weak with spice. It was soooo good!!! I got the hash brown casserole and a biscuit. Couldn't finish it and brought some home. Oooh also loved my iced caramel macchiato. My friends got a waffle, side of sausage and some eggs and enjoyed all of that. Biscuits and gravy didn't have enough flavor for my friend. She said the biscuit was good, but just wanted a little more flavor. Almost forgot that we started with the churro donuts. Holy moly were they good! The caramel sauce isn't needed at all. They came out hot and fresh and a little crispy. Loooooved them! And you can just get two if you want instead of four. Our first visit to The Toasted Yolk was delightful. We arrived at 10:00 am on a Sunday and the place was packed. Our server, Chloe was enthusiastic and attentive. WOWZA!!!! I have never been so delighted to eat breakfast in my life!! This place was absolutely delicious. So many selections on the menu, we had a very hard time deciding. The ambience was very welcoming and bright. The service was on point, and the food was out of this world. I had the brisket scramble with the hash brown casserole. I could've eaten the hash brown casserole all day long!! SO GOOD! We had the cheesy grits also, and I must say, they were bomb! Next time we go, and we will try the mimosas or the bloody Mary drink.
