Italian platter with chicken Parmesan and long hot
    JY H.

Went to Our favorite restaurant in town for the valentine's dinner. Food rarely disappoints us there. The coconut shrimp was super: huge shrimps butterflied and dipped into coconut batter, then fried to almost perfection as you don't taste greasy. It was great flavor in its own as the shrimp and batter was savory while the sweet coconut flakes gave the sweetness needed to push it to next level. My haddock en croute was almost excellent: full of flavor, fish was tender with plenty of tasty sauce. The layer was complex and each of them has its flavor to compromise each other: savory puff pastry with roasted red pepper layer over spinach, all on top of the haddock. Rice was cooked well and sucked in all the flavors. I enjoyed my meal very much. His Italian platter with chicken Parmesan was still his favorite. I think the chef(s) at trackside really know how to play with flavors and cook them into perfection. The chocolate lava cake was warm and rich - good but somehow not to our liking tonight. I feel instead whipped cream, paired with ice cream may be better as the whipped cream was not enough to balance the thick texture and chocolate flavor. There are also areas needed improvement: the service!! When we were there it was not that busy. From the very beginning we felt they are understaffed: waited forever to get the waitress to serve in every round, they messed up his order first, we never got our salad or lemon sorbet... well, the good thing is they admitted it and took of the drink as an apology. So far, still the restaurant on top of our list. #thisisutica #italianrestaurant #uticany #uticastation #uticafood #uticarestaurants

Fish is cooked to perfection. Wonderful place, atmosphere is great. The owners are wonderful........ the food was more than wonderful.. The perfectly fried fish came with cole slaw, excellent and macaroni salad with Tuna. Just wonderful, and the french fries were flavored with no less than perfection. So great!!!!!! I just love train stations and it made the dinning over the top for me.

The fried clam strips are absolutely a must. They are getting hard to find around the country and it is a pleasure to be able to get them when in Utica. They are seasoned just right. The oysters were a bit small, but very fresh and served with wonderful accompaniments. The haddock was perfectly cooked. And everyone at my table seemed pleased with the full variety of this most satisfying menu. Coffee and dessert were very nice. No cappuccino or espresso, but that's not why you come to this delightful seafood restaurant. I will continue to come back when I am in Utica.

The dining area had lots of decorations as you'd imagine the theme was beach like. Started off with calamari and it was very unique - the rings were cut thinner than most places and the light breading really let the flavors come through...definitely fresh and really good. Opted for the deep fried haddock and shrimp special, shrimp were very large and still had bite to them so I have to believe they were very fresh. Beer battered haddock was good - two strips with a nice coating. Took a pic of the dinner but it came out lousy - good reason to return.

A real struggle on graduation weekend:…read more Party of 12, Saturday night. We were told that it wasn't going to be a prix fixe menu as we were a party of under 12 when the reservation was booked (we asked). It was. Selection was somewhat limited particularly for the vegetarians but the waitress said that they could swap veggies in for the trout in the risotto. They didn't. It was just risotto. Potato leek soup. So salty that it was inedible. Like sea water salty. Three of us sent it back. NY Strip. Boring and clearly hadn't been seasoned before cooking (ironic). Not quite cold but really, really close. A little tiny ramekin of chimichurri sauce which I was supposed it make it interesting or tasty I guess. It was neither. The whipped potatoes were delicious. Desert was a borderline interminable wait. And then they served gelato and sorbet to four of us. Think milkshake. A thin, runny milkshake, approaching soup. The food runners and waitress were so embarrassed they couldn't look at us when they dropped the desert and ran. Who lets ice scream, posing as soup out of the kitchen. It used to be a quaint little place with fantastic food ... And now, an overpriced, industrial'ish place with sub-par food (although the owners are clearly cashing out, leaning on its prior reputation). Unfortunate. $85 a head, $1,500 all in with drinks and tip.

Cute crab shack ambience, it's a hot spot so order or arrive before the dinner crowd. My first visit was a Saturday around 6 and it was crowded and not a seat to be had! All the seafood platters being served looked amazing, so I knew I was in the right spot! I was greeted as I approached the counter and was assisted with my take out and recommended popular party sack combinations. I ordered #3 which includes a lobster tail, one cluster or 1/2 lb snow crab, 1/2 lb shrimp (I recommend requesting Head Off!) a piece of corn, and 2-3 potatoes. I chose Cajun seasoning and, very hot spice. Warning you best be a very spicy hot lover, it was challenging but loved it! I have already returned for a second time, also #3 sack added extra corn $3 and extra potatoes $3. CrabnGo special seasoning and still extra hot! Delicious not as over the top as Cajun Hot! $47 and change with the added corn and potatoes. $42 and change without. Only one quarter piece of corn first order and two potatoes. Love it! It's going to be dangerous now that I've tried this Cajun Seafood that makes you feel like you are in the Bayou! And the heat that matches!
