We just happened upon this spot in Grand Teton after heading out early looking for wildlife and the timing was good to stop for a good breakfast. It's a cute little place with a beautiful view, great service and a solid breakfast menu. Our server was Amy and she was very friendly and checked on us frequently but not too much and told us what the birds were on their deck that my partner was watching (barn swallows). I had a skillet that had bacon and vegetables with toast and everything tasted really fresh and not over salty. I was pleasantly surprised by the marble rye. My partner and I both really liked their potatoes as it seemed they were roasted and not fried as they weren't oily at all. Well to start this review I must begin with the view. Overlooking Jackson Lake and the Grand Teton mountain range was amazing. We sat at the bar for some appetizers and drinks. The staff were awesome with great drink suggestions. Food was decent but only having the appetizers I can't give the food a fair review. My family and I were coming from Yellowstone National Park. We came up to this restaurant grill before we camped at the campground. Reservations must be made on website to acquire a camping spot. No reservations for the restaurant grill. I liked how the restaurant sits with a nice view of the lake and mountain. Great scenery to enjoy the food. The views were great, but the food was just alright. We started with the Parmesan fries, which were underwhelming. They would've been better if they had something to help the parm and parsley actually stick to the fries. For our mains, everyone at the table ordered sirloins, and they took over an hour to come out. Each steak was to be cooked to different temps, but yet they came out at separate times. I did enjoy my steak, but my potatoes were lukewarm at best. Not the best experience, but there aren't many options around here so I'd probably find myself back here when in the area again. We were staying in Moran and this was one of our few dinner options. The menu prices definitely reflect the stunning view while you dine, however the food was average. The parmesan fries were basically normal/bland fries with thick Parmesan sprinkled on top, which fell off whenever you took a bite. We were returning from a day at Yellowstone and plan to have dinner at this place because the view. The views of the mountains are breathtaking. We're so glad we captured this location. There are two places to choose from we selected trapper's grill. We ended up splitting the tacos, which were flavorful. They were very filling. There were three of them and the fish in them were big pieces of fish. I got a salad which I thought was over priced for the size. My son got the nachos for four people she warned us about the size and he did a great job of taking them out. There wasn't a lot of protein in them seemed to be a lot of chips, but it was a fun night just to watch him. Try to take them out. The service was good could have been better. I have a pet peeve though about removing the plates from the table when you're done eating them and they seem to have just forgot that. When she brought me the bill, I didn't even have room on the table to actually look at it and you sign the copy because the dishes were so high. But let me go back to the view. The view was spectacular. The drinks were good. The food was good and put the Bill after a long day and Yellowstone. View is a 5, service 3, food 3.5 Caution: when you leave, be sure to follow the signs because we saw multiple animals along the road and a huge elk, moose be sure to go the speed limit. We went to the Trapper Grill. It's a great spot to go after a hike. The view is stunning. The patio isn't very big, so if you want to sit outside, ask for it but be prepared to wait. We went two days in a row after exploring the park. Both days were far from different experiences. We had the same waitress both days and her attitude was night and day. First day we went it was great. She was great. I got the trout tacos. Those were amazing. So good. It's pretty big too! The second day we were seated inside. The table did not look clean at all. The hostess actually cleaned it up as she was sitting us. The glasses were dirty. When our waitress came I politely asked if I could get a different glass because mine looked soooo dirty like it hadn't been through a dishwasher. She immediately went into defense mode saying that they don't polish the cups there. I just said oh ok. She swapped it with a cup from a table behind me, honestly I don't even know if she swapped the cup because it was behind me. She filled my water to the brim so I couldn't look at the glass. Oh well. I got the pesto chicken and caprese sandwich and it wasn't that great. The chicken was dry and the food sandwich tasted weird. Fries were amazing. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. The waitress never once asked if our party wanted drinks beyond water and acted as if serving us was a burden. When I ordered pancakes with their "signature" huckleberry compote, I was told it wasn't available--only to have her point to the jelly packets on the table as if that were an acceptable substitute. Completely insulting. My second choice, avocado sourdough toast, arrived burnt beyond edible. When I asked to have it remade, the manager (who delivered it himself) refused. Instead, he dismissed the issue by removing it from the bill and tacking on a meaningless 10% "employee discount." That's not customer service--that's avoidance. To make matters worse, when I asked for the meal packed to-go, the waitress gave me a hard time and reluctantly handed over containers, making it clear she didn't care whether I ate at all. Between false menu promises, food served inedible, and staff who act like guests are inconveniences, I left feeling not just disappointed but disrespected. I recently dined at the Trapper Grill at The Signal Lodge. I was out for a hike in the park and my family was kinda hungry so we decided to stop for a quick bite. I enjoyed the dining experience but honestly it was just ok but it was good for what it was (being a restaurant run by Aramark inside a national park (the day before the summer season ends). The service was just ok which again I understand why but the waitress was friendly. The inside of the restaurant felt more like a cafeteria than a lodge. And me the food was nothing to write home about. I had high hopes for the huckleberry short rib. I thought it was good, but I don't think cooking the short rib in barbecue sauce was a good idea as I couldn't taste the sauce and the short rib, haven't had no distinct flavor. Perhaps using the sauce as a finish would better compliment, the flavor of the meat. I thought the ranchers pie (basically a shepherds pie) was much better. the mashed potatoes were delicious and the beef was tender but to me it was more like a pot roast more. Would I eat here again? Sure... If I had to. Do I think it's amazing? No. Overall it's ok. Just ok. I've had better food in National Parks before. read more

Could I be happy eating in a restaurant just to see the view? Yes, but I also get hungry too, so if the food is pretty decent and not a total dive then I'm a happy camper. We stayed at Signal Mountain Lodge for a few nights and knew local restaurants were few and far between. There are options that require reservations at the more upscale lodges but I just wanted simple American family style food and that's what we got! This is September which is close to the end of the busy summer season. Local help and staff probably start to dwindle but we were fortunate to have very nice and helpful staff each time we came for a meal at Trappers Grill. There were ample choices and the breakfasts were hot and filling. Dinners were a small variety of different choices and we ate well. They have one of the greatest views of Jackson Lake and the Grand Tetons from their dining room. The viewing windows go up to the ceiling and there is outdoor seating too during warmer weather. You can see down to the shoreline and the dock and Marina office. I often tried their daily soup and was not disappointed. Afraid I did not take as much pictures of the food as I was blown away by the view more! If you are looking for fine dining this is not the place. If you are fine with something hot and filling you would be pleasantly surprised. They also have a local bar ( Deadman's Bar) close to the restaurant and it was pretty hopping on a couple of nights we were there. If you prefer to take out, they provide that service too. Decor is all warm woods and decorative light fixtures that were pretty whimsical and suited for the environment of wildlife in the area. read more

While staying at the signal mountain lodge, the trapper grill and deadman's bar was a really convenient dinner choice! As a part of 2 getting early dinner each night, we never had to wait for seats. A few times we even got seats on the outside balcony area which was so lovely! Over the course of a few nights I had wine and beer and ciders, all delicious. And I tried many food options- the veggie burger, Caesar with trout (the larger size is huge!), and the grilled cheese with huckleberry - nice for lunch. After a VERY long day of driving, my friends and I were more than ready to down some delicious food. Since we were camping at Signal Mountain Campground, we decided that this restaurant would be a great place to eat at. First off...the views from this place are AMAZING! My photos don't do it justice. Second, the food is also really good. I got their veggie burger, and it was exactly what I needed after our long day on the road. I also ordered a local cider (I forget the name of it) and it was DELICIOUS! Our waitress recommended it, and she clearly had great taste! She was also awesome, super friendly, attentive, and chatty. We appreciated her kindness and humor. We didn't go to it, but the restaurant also has a bar attached to it...and I think it could absolutely be the place to BE on a good night. After a hike at Taggart Lake, Nate and I decided to check out the Signal Mountain Lodge for lunch at the recommendation from a local friend. We had a short wait for a table, but the view of the lake was worth it. We decided to split the half order of nachos and a cup of chili. This was way more than enough food - the menu says the half order of nachos feeds two, but it could definitely feed four. Luckily we were pretty hungry after our hike, so we ended up polishing off most of the plate. Our server was impressed! The nachos were pretty tasty, but there were quite a few naked chips towards the bottom. I like that you can order them with beef, chicken, black beans, or any combination of the above. We got all three. The nachos came out with two generous sized bowls of salsa and sour cream, and you can also get guacamole for an extra charge. The highlight for me was the chili - it was so delicious! I honestly wished the nachos came with the chili on them, it was that good. The cornbread muffin that came with the chili was crumbly and moist. I'd probably come here again if we're ever back in GTNP. read more

We were able to walk in after about a 15-20 minute wait, which isn't a big deal at all given the other things to do around the place. All the meals were good, and dessert was stellar. The menu here is way better than at other national park restaurant offerings, but the place is really dirty and the staff not as friendly or efficient as everywhere else we stopped between Yellowstone and Jackson. It's a shame, because the views are stunning, and the menu *sounds* really good. We were disappointed by the wait times for food (even mid-afternoon outside typical mealtimes), and when the food arrived it wasn't hot enough. Take the portion sizes seriously - the half-portion of nachos was enough for 6 people to share as an appetizer, or 3 people as an entree. The fish and chips half-portion was more reasonably sized, but still too much for one person. The coleslaw was off-putting in color and flavor. I suspect the salads might be the best thing on the menu. The biggest problem was the filthy food-strewn floor and unwiped tables. Maybe worth putting up with for the view? I'm not sure. read more
