Initially things started off positively. They were responsive and the rat situation seemed to be improving. After the first few weeks, they weren't very responsive to communication that there was still evidence of rats. Anthony and Brian sent by Twin Home Experts Consulting LLC found the entry point for the rats due to a sewage vent not being connected properly. With the help of smoke and camera . They found the issue. The issue was behind sheet rock and without the special equipment they used there would have never been a way to find the problem. The company does not do free estimates. They come out and guaranteed finding the issue to the problem. We have a three bed 2 1/2 bath + den home. The cost of finding the issue was $2800 Phase 2 involved Fixing the sewer vent pipe issue, putting in a rodent block in the clean out of the sewer pipe, setting up cameras and trap for any rodents left behind, coming back to dispose of the one rodent left behind, using the electrostatic fogger to remove all pheromones in the attic cost $3200. We are very happy with the results, since we had other companies come out that could not solve the issue. But the services of Twin Home Experts Consulting are not cheap. The total cost to us was $6000. We could have stopped after the determination of the problem and dealt with the rest ourselves, but we were concerned that we may not have the 100% guarantee , if something was missed and the rodents came back. read more

We worked with Twin Home Experts on two major projects. For the first one, we thought we were dealing with a rat problem in our master bedroom wall. Our pest control company could not figure out where the critters were getting in and referred us to Twin Home. Jim and Dave have some very entertaining videos on YouTube that you must watch--it will give you a good idea of what they do. They use a smoke test that pretty much no one else is doing to find where there might be a hole in the plumbing, and where sewer rats might be coming in. We were convinced that was the problem, but it turned out it wasn't! They brought a team in and did a smoke test as well as a very thorough inspection. No holes were found but they monitored our small crawl space/basement with cameras and traps. After a few days, nothing was seen. It was decided that the wall needed to be opened up. Evidence of skunks was discovered and cameras were set up inside our walls which confirmed the presence of skunks. Twin Home DID find where the skunks were coming in, which were some small arches under our porch wall which we didn't even realize opened to a hollow wall that was a pathway straight to our master bedroom wall. The Twin Home team was super professional and thorough, they protected everything really well in our bedroom when they opened the hole, and did a very thorough job of disinfecting the area. They even created a little space totally blocked off with plastic where the wall was opened. Everyone on the team was very nice and helpful. However at this point, they referred us to All Star Animal Trapping to complete the job of capturing the skunks. All Star was excellent (I will have to write them a review next) and they did complete the job for us. The reason I gave Twin Home Experts 4 stars is that their pricing for opening up the wall was significantly more than All Star charged us for pretty much the same thing (they had to open up two more walls to finish the job). However, Twin Home did do a more careful and thorough job and video monitoring was an additional service they provided. I do think Twin Home really provides a premium experience. But if you are looking for budget, they may not be your guys. We again worked with Twin Home for a mold remediation. Dalton was our guy on this job, and he was great to work with. We learned a lot about different kinds of mold and how to prevent them. Through air quality testing, Dalton was able to pinpoint exactly where the problem areas were. His team came in and treated the problem with HEPA vac, disinfecting with an antimicrobial and fogging, as well as removing a baseboard and piece of wall that had been water damaged and infected with black mold. My husband was disappointed about the cost involved. You have to be aware that in both the case of the skunk problem and the mold remediation, the cost of repairing the hole in the wall was not included. So we had to pay a contractor to do that portion both times. Again I felt we were paying for a premium experience with Twin Home for the mold remediation. Dalton did his best to make sure we were satisfied and happy with the work. At the end he retested two of the worst areas and they showed NO mold spores! Overall, I am glad we worked with Twin Home and our problems were solved. It was just a very expensive undertaking so that was the only downside. Perhaps it was unavoidable. read more

Incredibly impressed with Jim and Twin Home Experts. I got their number from a friend who had tried umpteen contractors to address their water issues, but only Twin Home finally solved it. When we found we had water in our crawl space I didn't hesitate to call them. Jim is extremely responsive (never left me hanging either by text or phone call), communicative and efficient. His team was able to remove the wet drywall, treat and protect the affected area, conduct leak detection / moisture testing and provide a mold certificate. Dalton was very communicative and also provided detailed photos of the work that was done through text. He also recommended a contractor to do the follow up work which we also appreciated. Amazing job by Anthony and Brian with Twin Home Experts. They were very professional throughout the job and were able to identify the point of entry quickly of how rats were getting into our attic. This company offers smoke testing for vents on your roof, which no other company I have found offers. Through the smoke testing it was found that there was an opening in a sewer pipe in the wall that was allowing rats to go through the city sewer pipes and get into the attic. It was amazing that Anthony and Brian were able to open up the wall at the exact spot there was an opening in the pipe. Very impressive. It was money well spent as no more rats have been seen since!! I don't enjoy writing bad reviews -- especially having previously given Twin Homes a glowing recommendation -- but after almost four years of emotional attrition, I'm done hoping for a positive outcome. Here's the timeline: As stated in my previous review, back in Apr 2018, I hired Twin Homes to locate and identify leaks coming into the south wall of my garage. Promised an end to the leaks, I accepted all of their findings and recommendations, paying over $35,000(!) out of pocket for them to tear out, reseal and replace the stone patio deck directly above. On Dec 2019, the leaks returned in the south wall of the garage. Twin Homes denied responsibility, but after I threatened to litigate, they attempted a second repair in Jan 2020 by tearing out and resealing a small portion of the stone patio directly above the south wall. But the leaks reappeared again just two months later. This time, they claimed it was due to gaps in the walls that just needed some $12 Home Depot sealant. So we took their advice and sealed the gaps. After a year of drought, in mid-Dec 2021 heavy rainfalls revealed severe leaking and bubbling in the south wall of the garage again. We attempted to reach them via email, phone and even certified mail, but they flatly ignored us. Sure enough, they verified that the leaks were clearly coming from a compromised deck, noting Twin Home's substandard construction/repair work including failing to completely remove the rotted subfloor (as stated in our contract), failing to seal the deck drains to the gutters, and using cheap sealant not graded for decks among other shortcomings (see photos for reference). I would like to believe our experience was just a fluke, but based on the recent string of bad reviews and complaints posted on Yelp, Angi.com, and the Better Business Bureau, their poor performance appears to be a growing trend. They're not even a member of HomeAdvisor anymore, even though they proudly advertise an "elite" and "top rated" status on their website. Still not convinced? I checked the licenses of Twin Home Experts (#439600) and their front man Joe de la Fuente (#1046528) on the Contractors State License Board(CSLB). Twin Home's is currently "canceled and not able to contract" with a number of citation violations, and Joe's is currently suspended. Per the CSLB, "It is illegal for an unlicensed person to perform contracting work on any project for which the contract price is $500 or more in combined labor and material costs." So here we are -- $35,000, four years, three recurring leaks and countless wasted hours later - and rain continues to dump water and spread mold into the walls of our garage where our now-toddler used to play. A home is meant to be a place of comfort, rest and peace-of-mind, but Twin Homes has taken all those things, our hard-earned savings, and countless hours away from my work and home-life and left my family holding the proverbial bag. Their use of non-toxic smoke to locate entry points and utilization of camera's and tracking techniques to monitor rodent activity are awesome! Get another estimate! They're big time price gougers if they know you trust them to do the job. I checked their pricing after I had them replace my sewer line, by showing another plumber the estimate, and I overpaid by triple the normal rate. I do not recommend them for this reason alone. The work they did was fine. The price they charged during my sewage emergency was outrageous. I trusted them. Should have known better to trust a plumber. Get a second estimate, regardless of how desperate you are to have repairs done! Or prepare to over pay by a lot! First off, I loathe to give bad reviews, not because it will shed a bad light on a particular vendor, but because it states I made a mistake choosing one. Embarrassing! With some 31+ reviews, I enjoy giving my fellow Yelpers good news on honest businesses. But today, this is not one. I feel obligated to warn others about this outfit. Back story - Foul smell under the house, wife annoyed, no good. 3 weeks passed, because, I didn't smell anything! On 12/22/20, bam! I can smell it, ugggh! Gotta be a leaky pipe? On 12/23/20, I hit the net. Quick, wife not smiling, me- gotta get somebody in here quick! I made two mistakes that led me to this outfit. Mistake (1): Not only did I not read the negative reviews (which are many), but I didn't even check Yelp before making an appointment. Mistake (2): I didn't check the California Department of Consumer Affairs Contractors State License Board (which I do often); it can be found at https://www.cslb.ca.gov/OnlineServices/CheckLicenseII/CheckLicense.aspx Check this site before you hire any contractor, for any job. Rule #1: they must have a current license; Rule #2: they should not have any complaints against them! The license gives us options for relief, no license-no relief. I experienced similar treatment as the other negative reviewers. On 12/24/20, the guy who came to my home, Sergio was nice enough, polite and professional, can't blame him. I'm sure he has his orders from the owners. Simple leaking sewer pipe. But the upselling; the gloom and doom scenarios; the $250 inspection fee; the withholding of pics from the inspection (even after paying the invoice); the front office not aware of field team's activity; the failure to send the written estimate (only oral numbers, which were outrageously high) and little to no follow through. I paid the $250, as I authorized it, and I pay my debts. But I'm not one to throw good money after bad. They can keep it. I got another plumber out to my place, he fixed the problem in 2 hours for a fraction of the estimated $2,300 verbal estimate. When I say fraction, I mean 350% less. So I will leave it at that. Take heart to those who have complained. Checked their License Number (# 439600) and there are 4 citations pending (as of 12/18/2020). Check it out. They can't buy my silence and I don't want a refund, because it was a $250 lesson. Lastly, beware of the written language in their 'estimate - proposal' having you waive the 3 day cancellation, calling anything they inspect an "emergency" when, most often it is not. Did your roof just blow off in the middle of a storm, OR is your toilet stopped up? That in and of itself is highly suspicious behavior. Yelpers - Before engaging any contractor please check the CA License Board first, then read all negative reviews (the latest ones are the most important). Don't get swayed by a fancy website and smooth sounding words. I did. But, hey, that is life, and I know better! Live and learn! Dang, and to top it off, my wife was pissed at me to boot! They were hired to remodel our master bathroom. Was given a great quote and was told it would be a 4-5 day remodel. The quote included painting the walls which I ended up finishing. It took 5 weeks to even get to the point of me fixing the texturing and completing the painting. The shower and tile looks great. I was told worker would be here at 8:00 am and wouldn't see him before 9:30-10:00 and he would leave and be gone for hours. I might see him one day and have to wait two days before seeing him again. He was even pulled off in the middle of my scheduled day to go to another job. The finish bathroom is beautiful. We had long-term issues with rodents in our attic that two other companies were unable to resolve. Jim at Twin Home Experts explained that it was likely a sewer rat issue, and they were able to do a smoke test to identify openings in our sewage vent or drain pipes. I had a very pregnant wife and then eventually newborn throughout this process - and Jim was very responsive (within a day max) where the other companies could take up to a week to do a trap check or check on our property - which is a very long time with dead rats in our attic... Within 30min of the smoke test he identified the wall where a cracked lead sewage vent pipe was, and identified evidence of rat comings and goings in that location. They were able to cut and reseal the pipe, and even set up cameras to check on remaining activity until their traps took care of the rest of them. An 8month ordeal with standard attic rat sealing and trapping, looks like it was resolved in a few weeks - I wish we knew about this service earlier and could have saved us time, money, and a lot of sanity for our family. This company is AWESOME! I can't say enough good things about them. We had rodent issues for over a year and tried Terminex, Hydrex, Stanley and others to rid our attic of rats. No one was able to help us. Then, I came across TWIN from watching their video on YouTube. Jim, one of the owners of TWIN, and his crew, came by the house. They performed a smoke test and visual inspection to find the openings to the attic where that rats were coming in. Hired this company to replace our shower pan because of a leak. We just found out from another plumber who looked at it that their work was shoddy (the piping done incorrectly, not properly sealed), and there is still a leak. They recommended we have to have the entire job redone (this was thousands of dollars). We've tried to contact Twin Home Experts about this (mainly Jim). At first he was friendly, but the next time we called, the owner lied to us and said Jim doesn't work there anymore (the woman on the phone the day before said he did). And then, Jim blocked my husband's phone number! What kind of business is this!? Fortunately, my husband is an attorney, so we won't have to pay for one to help us get our money back. I found out about twin experts through YouTube. You have to check out the videos. The previous pest control companies I have talked to only mention setting up traps without looking at where the rats were coming from. Once the company came in they set up the smoke machine and found two pipe openings where sewer rats were coming in from and they have sealed them.
