We usually go to twisted or on Thursdays for the crab legs. Last Thursday we were sitting inside in the bar area and three baby roaches were crawling on the wall. I brought this up to the waitress and she said we can't help it because were outdoors. I lost my appetite after seeing the roaches. We will be making our own crab legs from now on. Favorite place on the lake for my friends and I and close to the boat docks. Service can get a little slow on Friday and Saturday nights but that is expected with the increased crowd. I wouldn't recommend families coming with little ones on those nights after 6, some of the older regulars get a little loud and obnoxious from their day drinking. Worst experience we've ever had. Food was terrible and cold and service was extremely unprofessional. Things went wrong continuously from beginning to end. The worst part of the night was at the end when we couldn't find our credit card after paying for our food. We thought maybe it fell through the cracks of the deck, and after searching for about 25 minutes, including going under the deck ourselves on hands and knees to look for this card, the server tells us it was in another book the whole time. I really enjoyed this place, the food was great. I met the owner who was a wonderful man. Great time! After we left, my wife told me the the two guys sitting to my right tried to take my bar stool when I went to the bathroom. She said "No, my husband is sitting here." And one of them responded "You need a better husband." That guy is lucky my wife chose to tell me back at the hotel, because I would have given him a case of sudden deceleration trauma. My husband and I love this place!! It's great that you can pull your boat right up to the deck and tie off and walk right up to the outdoor area. The food is great and the atmosphere is awesome!! They also have live bands that play which is awesome along with all of the tv's so you don't miss whatever sport you're into!! Went for lunch today, ordered fried chicken sandwich with onion rings, grilled cheese with avocado and tomato, chicken fingers for young daughter. Waitress was very nice but quickly got busy with other tables, she may have been the only wait staff there. Almost all the food was inedible!! Chicken fingers were slimy and undercooked, grilled cheese was cold and avocados not fresh, about a day or two over ripe, fried chicken was overcooked but cold so it had been cooked earlier and set aside. My party walked in around 10:50pm & was handed menus... A server, by the name of Kenzie, walked up to us & told us that the kitchen told her that they had already put everything away & that it was closed. I then explained to her that we were just given menus & told that we could order. She then went on to state, with much sarcasm and a "know it all" attitude that all restaurants' kitchens close an hour before closing & that was the rule "everywhere she worked"; I then asked her was that a Lake Lanier thing because that's not generally true... she proceeds to get snappy with her response & told me if I had an attitude, which I did not - until her statement, that she doesn't have to deal with me & put her hands up as if to be washing me away... a manager was called over & he was actually the person who gave us our menus to begin with; he honored our orders & changed the energy... Kenzie, however, lightened up SLIGHTLY but you could tell she still wasn't pleased to provide the customer service. We ordered lemon pepper wings & they were GREAT! This is the best restaurant/bar on Lake Lanier. New owner totally reinvented this location with the bar moved to be between the inside area and the outside covered patio. I can imagine this place gets packed during the middle of the summer, but it was about 50% full today for lunch. The food was surprisingly good. I had the coconut shrimp and my wife had the baked shrimp. Portions were generous and there were a lot of options for sides. I thought the prices were a little low for the location right on the water at a marina. The service was outstanding. Our server came by to check on us frequently. I'm sure service would be a little delayed when they're slammed. I will frequent The Twisted Oar when I'm on the lake and want to avoid the hundreds of boats near LLI or Port Royale. This is a much more relaxed place to enjoy the lake while getting a bite to eat or enjoying a cocktail (Yes, they have a full bar w/ liquor, wine and beer). I ate here a few days ago with my family and the short old lady hostess was really rude. We eat her once a week, so we're practically regulars. That day I even brought a good friend with me to experience the wonderful food I've been bragging to them about. On top of that the short waitress with glasses took forever to take our order and we only seen her twice the entire time we were there and that was to give us the check. She never checked on us to see if we needed anything. When we had asked to speak to the manager they pointed to a elderly man at the bar who was really intoxicating and stated that was the owner and to talk to him about any problems we had. The owner was racist and rude as if my kind wasn't good enough to eat at his establishment. I'll never eat here again, if they don't like their jobs then they need to find a new profession. I use to love this place and have been going for years but my past 3 experiences there have been absolutely horrible. 1- I got a salad with salmon on it. It was extremely expensive for what it was about $13 for a tiny plate with iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese and a piece of salmon that was hard as a rock. I threw up only 20 mins after leaving the restaurant and I NEVER get sick and nothing that was stated on the menu was on my salad. It was supposed to have onion, carrots and tomatoes too. 2- im not even going to get into this one but after 1 hour and 20 mins we had NO food and left because we were told we were still going to have to wait for our food. 3- I get a side of coleslaw that was absolutely rotten so they bring me another side of "new" slaw that was still rotten. I paid 13 dollars for !!5!! shrimp that were supposed to be blackened and they were absolutely plain and rotten slaw. The Mac and cheese was good though. THEN We watched our server clear a table and put all the old drinks into a pitcher then COME AND FILL OUR CUPS WITH THAT PITCHER!!!!!! Every time I've been in this calendar year of 2018 has been a disappointment. I'm not sure if the management changed or the kitchen staff changed but man, has it changed. read more

Exceedingly mediocre. Limited variety, total lack of ingenuity, and a liquor selection that would seem great if it was 1997. We ordered Lemon Pepper wings. When they arrived they reeked of Movie Theatre Popcorn Butter, and were so covered in grease the any seasoning had been washed away. In fact, all of the food lacked proper seasoning. Good thing they have little Coronita bottle salt and pepper shakers on the table! Truth be told, there are better options on the lake, but if you're in a pinch, this place does technically have food. read more

We were there on Friday, June 9. We were there late at night. The server forgot to place one person's order. After about 45 minutes of waiting we left without any food for that person. Our server was not concerned at all, thus we didn't leave our normal 20% tip. We eat at your establishment approximately once a week during summer months and continue in the off season.
