Walked right up and sat ourselves. Waitress was very nice and accommodating. Had a Brisket special going on and asked for a sample. Was brought chopped because they were out of sliced. Understandable. Ordered a philly, 8 wings (lemon pepper hot), side of beans, onion straws, and a side of Hand Cut fries. The fries are out of a bag and not had cut. Wings came lemon pepper only. I asked if it was right and waitress said it was won't but she would bring me a side of hot. Not really what I wanted. Also ordered a queso that was about 6oz and cost $10. Tasted good but far from $10 queso. Has anyone ever had a $10 queso?! Onion straws were ice cold. Most food was out of a bag frozen and bar food. Environment was a typical bar. Was hoping for better food. Won't be back to spend my $45 again for 2 entrees, 2 sides, and an app. read more

Lovely little spot on Lake Lanier with friendly and courteous service. The food is simple, but pretty good, depending on what you order :) I had a grilled cheese with avocado and tomato. When it arrived it looked a little sad. All bread and a wee bit of cheese. But it was actually pretty tasty! Great outdoor patio where you can watch boats come and go and love life on the lake. They lost stars for their use of plastic and styrofoam. I mean, come on, in a world that's getting so destroyed by toxic styrofoam and plastics, what does it take to use recyclables or hey, maybe real plates and eating utensils that you can wash and use again! Especially in such a beautiful spot where nature is key to your business. At one point, I glanced down at the water below the patio and there were a bunch of discarded styrofoam cups bobbing on the water, and a goose nibbling at the styrofoam. Come on guys, do better!! I WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS. For "Patrick" and "Patrick" alone. I don't even know if that was the real servers name but it was awful. To sum it up in fast terms: He didn't greet us for TWENTY ONE minutes, when he did, it took us an extra eight to get our drinks. I would never ever wish someone to be fired even if it was a bad experience, but for this matter, "Patrick" needs to go. I finally asked him why it took so long for everything and he walked away. He came back with the check that read "fuck you" and left no pen for me to leave a tip. I am and have been a server and would've left him 20%. He is immature, young, and doesn't care about his jobs or customers. I did NOT take the check to a manager. My girlfriend and I watched another server with light brown hair server his table to the T!!! He was amazing. He was on top of everything and never got behind no matter how many tables he got. From experience, I took the check with the evidence that I have pictures of to him. This check, with evidence; could bring the entire company down as I could and may easily push a civil law suit. This mature adult said he'd take care of it which I am more than appreciative of. Overall, "Patrick" was a rookie, short, blonde haired male, who doesn't want or deserve a job. If this is not taken care of, I will pursue this through a jurisdiction. I come here to Lake Lanier every week and will not tolerate myself or any others leaving a 5 star restaurant believing it's a 1 star because of "Patrick". This place used to be one of our favorites...lately both the service and the food are hit or miss. More miss than hit. They allow people to bring dogs inside and say nothing when guys at the bar encourage them to go at each other. They sit up at the tables, the servers pet them and then are serving food. Guys are allowed to sit drinking at the bar till they are loud and totally obnoxious and obviously drunk. Absent management to say the least. This place has definitely gone downhill in the last year. Whoever manages this place needs to learn new skills!! Absolutely NO management! People answering the phone who have no idea what they are doing! Horrible experience. Unless you're inebriated or are close friends with the wait/host staff, this is not the place for you. Our family has been going here for years. Yesterday was the worst we have been treated at at a restaurant period. There was a long wait, and let me be clear, we were fine with that. Our table is called and I walk up to the hostess stand (pregnant and carrying a 2 year old) to be told "you were called on accident. Have a seat it will be 15 min." Frustrating, as it's much more comfortable to be waiting on the boat, especially with a toddler. But, things happen. We sit, and sit, and sit. We watch friends of the host and wait staff get sat. We watch people come up yelling and saying they had been waiting for 2 hours (so had we). And then, most infuriating, we watch a party of 6 that walked up and added their name 20 mins prior get sat in front of us. They had congregated around the host stand and apparently chit chat is the way to get sat at the Oar. At that point, soaked, pregnant and wrangling a toddler (more than 30 min beyond our second quoted- just give 15 min) we left. Get it together Twisted Oar!!! Management is joke when they are the ones contributing to the "seat your friends first and paying customers later!" Highly encourage you to spend your hard earned money elsewhere. We certainly did. The twisted Oar is located in the Holiday Marina on the south side of Lake Lanier. I visited with a group of friends on a Saturday afternoon after some boat time on the lake. The restaurant is essentially a shack overlooking the marina and lake, which actually made for nice amience, when the weather is nice, their outside porch is open, although most of the seating is technically outside with a roof. It is a bit dated inside, as indicated by the napkin holder with a promotion expiring in 2017 (we visited April 2019). Their menu is quite large, mostly featuring standard bar food, heavy on the seafood (for some reason people like eating seafood from the ocean when near any body of water, including inland lakes). We started with an order of nachos, one friend asked if it came with cilantro and he said no, but it in fact did include cilantro, not a big deal, but that was the first indicator that service was not key here. We asked the change tables before any food arrived and despite being 50% empty, were told no, and only allowed to move after persisting. The food was mostly good, but nothing great. The prices are reasonable and the location is quite nice, but be prepared to mediocre service. read more

Used to LOVE this restaurant! Been there for a quiet lunch of fish tacos and reading my book, looking out at the lake; had dinner with the family, checking out the fish and the Canada Geese and the turtles; and I had fun boating in with friends for takeout on the boat. But...in the wake of COVID-19, their posted social distancing rules are a joke! The restaurant was tables-full-packed, the bar was shoulder to shoulder, and the takeout line, while I kept proper distance between me and the people in front of me, the people behind actually bumped into me! And when I told the hostess, all she did was look at me over her mask and say, "yeah, I know." The sign said anyone not following the rules would be asked to leave, but NO ONE was even checking! On another note, we have been there three times in the past couple of weeks, and the main hostess has been nothing but rude! Every question, every request...NO! No, no, no...so what CAN she do to be helpful and welcoming?! I think we will move down the lake to "Fish Tails" or "Pig Tails" for, hopefully, a warmer, safer, and more enjoyable experience! read more

Came here for the first time. I definitely would go back. The food was good but it was pricey. I ordered shrimp and it only came with about 6 small pieces for $14. Definitely not worth $14. "The food around here isn't that great" - NO WAY. I love food. That's the worse thing you can say to someone. Considering, I was spending the entire day at Lake Lanier - hunger was closing in and the restaurants didn't have the best reviews. As we docked the boat, I noticed a PokeStop and thought well - this seems promising. The ambiance is fun - they have outdoor and indoor seating, plenty of televisions to watch sports. The staff was friendly and the food was - DELICIOUS. Do you hear me, delicious? I rarely finish all my food, because I get full easily - but it was GOOD - every bit. I ordered the Mahi Mahi with a butter caper sauce and my friend ordered the chicken salad sandwich - which was so good, he went home and made a batch for the week. The new owner also checks up on all tables to see if everything is going good. They have TVs all over the place now which is a plus for me cause I love sports. The whole inside is remodeled also. I thought maybe it was a bad day the last time we were here but now two times it's starting to be a pattern.
