As a service dog handler, I am very pleased how I was treated the entire time I was there. They were very accommodating to seating me at a table where my SD could be placed under a table. Most importantly, I loved seeing a NO PETS, TASKED TRAINED SERVICE ANIMALS ONLY sign at the front door. The food & service was amazing! The toast was very thick and fluffy. Finally made it to the Ugly Rooster which is pretty close to Saratoga springs, that is, the one in Malta. The one is Mechanicville is about twice as far , but the original one. The cafe looks more like a diner inside. It has a fun menu, and a number of vegetarian options. I like being able to order just one pancake or one waffle/ French toast. Food was tasty, ( home fries were really great!) and portions good and healthy looking .servers were friendly and attentive, coming by regularly to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything or a refill. That is always appreciated. They are open for breakfast and lunch, closing at 2:00pm. Ample parking around restaurant. Prices are very reasonable, which is also appreciated.great place for breakfast or lunch. read more

I came her with a buddy on Memorial Day and we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. Not a big deal at all as I expect places to get busy on holiday weekends. What turned me off was waiting over an hour for our food, which included a sandwich and egg white omelette. I'd also have forgiven the waitress as that is usually a kitchen backup, but she didn't check on us, refill water, check in on the kitchen, unless we asked her (which we only did twice as we knew she was busy). The food was fine, nothing special. It was also pretty expensive for the area and what it was. Maybe we missed something, but I wouldn't go back. We went for breakfast before starting our road trip back to MA. They have a fun menu with lots of different options for lunch and breakfast. I did the yummy French toast which came with vanilla icing on top. It was truly delicious and the side of bacon was perfectly cooked. We've been here quite a few times and have never been disappointed. It's always clean, staff are always friendly and helpful. Love that breakfast is served all day here because this is one of the best places I've been that have DELICIOUS breakfast entrees!! Huevos Rancheros is personally one of my favorites but the eggs Benedict is also a star with its homemade hollandaise sauce. The bacon and French fries here are always perfectly cooked and crispy. Prices are fair and plates are full because the portions are plenty. If you ever find yourself walking through the doors see if the waitress Marissa is working. I can't believe that after all of the trips we have made up here to Saratoga Springs NY this gem was only a town away. Every Father's day weekend we would drive up to Saratoga Springs for my husband's car club's annual rendezvous. Our hotel was in Malta, NY a step away from Saratoga Springs. We wanted to have brunch and really could not find too many places that served breakfast. We looked on Yelp and saw this place was literally down the street from us. It had great reviews so we had to check it out. It was a rainy Sunday but we found after passing it one time. The sign on the back road where we were driving was small. We did not realize we were on the road behind it. The parking lot was nearly full at 130 pm. It looked so small on the outside but had many booths and tables. You could also sit at the counter. I had the Hen peck 3 of your own which was an omelet where you select 3 add ins. I chose spinach, feta and bacon. The omelet comes with home fries and toast. The coffee was to my liking. My husband had 3 strawberry banana pancakes with a side of homemade corned beef hash and coffee. We were in our happy place. I was so afraid when we first arrived the wait for a table would be long but we were seated in no time. The servers were very friendly and had our orders on the table in no time. We noticed that the back of the servers t-shirts said "Rise and Shine Mother Cluckers". I thought that was hysterical . If you're ever in Malta please give them a visit. Also Malta has a drive in movie theater! Love it! read more

Walking in I could tell this is where the locals come for their weekend breakfast. Place was jumping but we were seated right away in the large dining area. Looks a lot smaller from the outside, but when you step inside you realize just how much area there is. As expected, the decor is a collection of ugly roosters and hens. If you ever wondered why the chicken crossed the road, I'm betting the staff here know why. I ordered the foghorn leghorn breakfast wrap and was delighted. It had a good balance of eggs to steak and the juiciness of the steak made for a perfect bite combined with the sautéed onions and peppers mixed in. The Italian panini was equally tasty on a perfectly toasted panini with plenty of filling. After ordering, our food arrived within ten minutes. Highly unexpected given the crowd. But it was hot and delicious so I have no complaints on that end. The menu (as seen in various Yelp! posts is simple and easy to navigate. All the food coming out to tables around us looked delicious so we definitely intend on returning to try some of their other offerings. Took my daughter out for breakfast at the Ugly Rooster Cafe in Malta this morning. The diner was getting crushed, but there was only about a 15 minute wait. The guy running the register, handling the waiting line, and seating people is a freaking gem.....the waitress was a little shy, but I'm a big, loud guy, so I can understand that a little. The coffee was hot and fresh, the corn beef hash was homemade and possibly the best I've ever had.......and the Yummy Cakes (think pancake that tastes like a cinnamon roll) were the best pancakes my daughter has ever had. Breakfast for 2 was less than $23 (before tip). We will certainly be back. read more
