    Loaded Home Fries

We tried to stop here last time we were in NY and they were too busy. Decided to give it a try on a Monday, still busy but had zero wait to get seated. Staff were super friendly and eager to help. The vibe was very laid back and I can't count how many times I heard them say "take your time" as my wife and I tried to decide on what to get. We decided to go with French toast for me, the eye opener burrito for her, and a side of loaded home fries. The food came out hot and the portions were VERY generous. Could not finish everything even though it was DELICIOUS. If you are in the area during the week I would recommend stopping. They do have notes on the door that indicate weekends have long wait times.

The Ugly Rooster is a very delicious diner. It is usually busy, but be mindful that they close in the afternoon. The pancakes are scrumptious as are their lunch dishes and meats. Soups are basic, so get a real dish or entree and you will be satisfied. Perfect diner, happy kitchen and crew. Ambience is subdued but warm! Review: 5+

    Panini Breakfast Sandwich.

We had been trying to plan a time to visit this location of the Ugly Rooster since they first opened about three and a half years ago. Fortunately, we had a nearby appointment that allowed us to arrive about thirty minutes before their 2PM closing. There were still a good number of customers in the section where they were seating. We were seated right away and provided with menus. Our server was close behind with the typical opening question, "What would you like for a beverage?" Our hot coffee was served in the old fashion, 2 lb., white coffee cup. It was a decent brew. Their menu has breakfast on one side and lunch on the other side. My wife chose the Panini Breakfast Sandwich ($12.50) with scrambled egg, prosciutto, and provolone on grilled Italian bread. It came with a side of Home Fries that were very tasty. I had a taste of her sandwich and we both agreed it was quite flavorful. I was intrigued with the description of the Yummy Style French Toast ($12.50). They make their cinnamon buns in-house, slice one in half, dip the halves in a vanilla, nutmeg batter, and drizzle a vanilla glaze on top. It was, in fact, supper yummy! It rightfully earned its name. It had just the right amount of sweetness. Staff were friendly, polite, and the premises was clean and well kept. Hopefully, it won't be another long time before we are able to return.

Solid breakfast cafe! I visited on a Sunday morning and waited about 10 minutes for a table. They take your name and give you a buzzer when your table is ready. The menu has a ton of options but I do wish they had more breakfast meat options aside from just ham, bacon and sausage. I'd love to see turkey bacon or sausage as another option. I ordered Blueberry pancakes with sliced banana on top. They were delicious and under $10 for a stack of two large pancakes. You can't beat that! The staff is friendly and the space is large. Highly recommend!

Ugly Rooster Cafe in Malta gives classic diner vibes. Super busy on the weekends but we were able to get sat right away before 9am. Lots of parking but the place does get packed. I found the food to be priced reasonably. Absolutely loved the yummy cake and the yummy style french toast. The chocolate chip pancake was maybe a little overdone, the chocolate chips were all burnt by the time it got to me. My partner enjoyed the foghorn leghorn burrito, and the home fries were pretty tasty! Service was friendly and pretty quick, and the regular coffee was decent. Definitely worth coming back.

Great service that is always kind and pragmatic. Loving the huge variety in menu offerings. The ambiance is homey, east coast diner yet the food is a step or two up from the classic greasy spoon. I had the best patty melt ever (melted swiss cheese served hot, with perfectly caramelized onions and a juicy beef patty) just can't get one good enough out on the west coast bay area. The side pasta salad was tasty too. Can't wait to be back in town so we can go here again! If you live nearby you are lucky!

Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience. Service was extremely spotty, albeit friendly. Our food took an extraordinarily long time for some pretty simple breakfast items. When three of our meals arrived, the fourth was MIA for almost another 20 minutes. It was a bit weird/awkward... and not really addressed by the server appropriately. We all found our meals to be mediocre and nothing really exceptional.

Great place, 11:00 am weekday is the perfect time for a meal (sound & busy). The place is lovely, service is tremendous, food is scrumptious!! Hubby & I had "brunch" together. I completely recommend this place...Maya was attentive, kind and made this experience wonderful. Attached is pictures of food & menu...take the time to visit. I challenge you to pick one thing, it's filled with yumminess!!

    Eggs Benedict & fried potatoes

First Time Visit.... Went there for a breakfast on a Monday morning. The place wasn't busy which I'm happy about. I ordered Eggs Benedict with home fries and coffee. I found the Eggs cooked to perfection the way I requested them. The potatoes were good, this restaurant uses a seasoning on them which I enjoyed, but my breakfast buddy didn't care for them. I don't think this should be a deal breaker. The restaurant was very clean and organized. The restroom was clean and had a nice smell in the air. Service was excellent, plenty of offers for more coffee.

    "Hash"

The service was top-notch. Fried pickles spears were good. We all got a variety of breakfast and lunch items. I got eggs Benedict which was ok. Seemed a bit overcooked. The English muffin was thick. The home fries were eh, they tasted a bit old, some of which was overcooked, some which wasn't cooked enough, the homemade hash was just a plate of meat with some potatoes thrown in there, which wasn't very good. Not hash! One of us got rye toast with breakfast, which was not even toasted. The " toast" was mushy. Probably brushed with melted butter. Another got a wrap which he said was barely warm in the middle. The tacos were enjoyed by another and they looked good. I was not impressed with my food which is surprising because there's a constant line to get in there. I think the food is overrated. The place is big and welcoming though. The staff is great!

Reuben with a side of their homemade chili

We experienced mass confusion when we entered at noon on a Saturday for lunch. There were people everywhere in the front of the restaurant, half of them waiting to be seated by the hostess, the other half waiting to pay their bill at the counter (you could tell them by payment and bill in hand). The poor hostess had no idea who she was seating next. For the 5 minutes I experienced this, my thought was, "People must really enjoy the food to endure this." That seems to be the case, at least if our lunch today was typical of meals here in general. Once we were seated, I couldn't find fault with anything about our meal. The portions and the taste of the food were both excellent. My mom's Reuben was stuffed with all the right ingredients. She accompanied it with their homemade chili, which includes several types of beans and is spiced just right. My Mechanicville Special burger was cooked perfectly, topped with a generous helping of greens, several perfectly cooked slices of bacon, and at least half of an avocado sliced, maybe more, and then some ranch dressing. This went beyond my typical "messy good" comment to "messy excellent." For the side "salad" option, today's choices were a broccoli and dried cranberry salad or their homemade cole slaw. I opted for the latter, and it had the right amount of creaminess and sweetness. Service was also quality, as our waitress was friendly and quick and almost effervescent in her behavior. It was a pleasure to be served by her. One note on getting here - If you're driving north on Route 9, navigation may say turn left onto Blacksmith Drive, which you can no longer do because the highway division starts there, accompanied by a "No Left Turn" sign. So instead, go to the traffic circle just ahead, and either take NY 67 west to the exit there, or double back onto Route 9 south.

Solid breakfast stop on our way home from Vermont. About 2 minutes off 87. Face paced, diner like setting. There was a long line of people waiting for tables but the wait was only about 5 minutes. Quality breakfast. Egg white omelette was delicious and so were the potatoes that came with it. Bananas foster French toast was a treat. And a side order of fried green tomatoes was delightful!

If you're looking to feed a large group of people in Lake George, and you want to sit by the water,…read moreThe Lagoon is an eminently solid choice. The menu is massive, and so you should easily be able to find something for everybody...unless that person is looking for something super healthy. The Lagoon has burgers, and pizza, and lobster boats, and fish and chips, and four kinds of mac and cheese, and the appetizer list consists of all the things, fried: brussels sprouts, mozzarella wedges, wings, and more. We ordered all three of those fried things I mentioned to start, buffalo mac and cheese, a pizza, fish and chips, a cheesesteak, chicken fingers and a Greek salad. Our server was super bubbly and brought us all the sauces and drinks and everything else we asked for. It isn't going to blow you away with their culinary innovation, but The Lagoon hits a certain spot, and can seat your whole party with a view. I'd do it again.

I was here on a Tuesday afternoon and generally felt unwanted. The staff would congregate in a…read morecorner inside and someone would only venture out to the patio if there was food to deliver to a table, but you would have difficulty getting their attention even as they were walking back. Ordered was the poutine, a turkey club, and the hot buttered lobster roll. I came here for the poutine, a previous review had been very complimentary. I was underwhelmed, the gravy was thin, the cheese and tenderloin scarce. I will give the fries credit, crispy and seasoned, they were a solid base. Being so close to Canada, I'd expect better. The club was loaded up with dry turkey and not enough mayonnaise to help balance that out, but again the tots were crispy and seasoned so they were a gem, possibly the best thing here (and that's not a compliment because they're clearly a prepackaged product). The lobster in the lobster roll was chewy and dry, the roll was crispy but it was as though they had made garlic bread with a hot dog bun, then shoved some sad lobster bits in it. The coleslaw was drenched in dressing, but bland enough that I ate it for some texture and filling after being left wholly unsatisfied by my roll. All in all, I get the impression this restaurant relies solely on the lake, and their proximity to giving you a view while you eat, almost entirely to distract from a subpar performance in every other aspect of restauranting.
