Our first time at this location - very spacious and in a cute shopping strip. They got busy pretty quick! We were seated promptly for our reservation and wanted to try a few things. The servers and managers are all wearing masks and there is outdoor seating along with a private room as well. The pancake board - we only know about this treat because we saw it on open table, but didn't see it on the menu - all items made from scratch based on the various muffin shapes - yummy! We enjoyed this treat - the Nutella, caramel, whipped butter and syrup complimented the board....fresh berries along with dollar size pancakes & glazed hot donut holes complete the overall presentation! Worth the calories and a sweet treat to share! The crab omelette - we substituted the gruyere cheese for Swiss. The dish comes with breakfast potatoes. Lastly, I was most excited about the shrimp and grits, but it seemed a bit watery. You'll see the picture of the dish, but the waitress removed this from the overall bill. We have eaten at 2 locations and the food is always delicious. This time, at the Katy location, we ate pistachio chicken and Tyler's chicken pasta. Both menu items were delicious. The restaurant was a little busy for a Thursday night. There were 3 servers, but the food delivery was a bit delayed. We regretted not ordering an appetizer as were a bit hungry. One of the servers apologized and said they were short staff. We loved our meal and will dine again. read more

I have been to Union Kitchen several times now and it NEVER disappoints! The staff: Five s, absolutely amazing! They are always friendly, kind and anticipate needs. I've seen/encountered managers who come around to check on tables and assist staff, everyone there is a team player and want you to have a great customer experience. The Margarita Pizza: I get it every time! I add pepperoni but you do you.....it's phenomenal!! Five s for sure. The salad: It was tasty, it was a first time for me and the salad. I can't recall the name but it is pictured in the review. It was 4 s, great but not amazing. I have had the donut holes in the past and they are wonderful, they are not pictured because I didn't have them this trip. They are warm and glazed and definitely 5 s. Overall I love this place and you should definitely get the Margarita pizza!! read more

We sat on the patio Saturday evening as Matchsticks set up for some live music. Great musicians and loved their playlist. Volume was definitely enjoyable and not too loud. Mikal was our server and did a fabulous job of helping with our dinner choices and kept the water topped off. Very pleasant guy and will request his table when we go back. This was my second time eating here. Both times the service has been great! They are very attentive and polite and went above and beyond to meet our needs. We loved the fish and chips, the tomato bisque, and the baked herb cheese. Also got the mousse chocolate cake and it was really good too! The last time we came we got the calamari and we didn't think it had much flavor. Nor did the filet medallions. So today we were happy to really enjoy the food! We will be back to try some of the other appetizer and dessert offerings! They have several options that look really good! One last thing.... I love sweet tea. A lot! So when I ordered they said they don't have set tea. So I asked for water. But then they miraculously had sweet tea! Happy to know miracles still happen! Ha ha But seriously I hope they have sweet tea from now on. We are in the south. Gotta have heaven's nectar!! BTW, I have never given a five star rating to a restaurant that didn't have sweet tea. We love coming to the Union Kitchen. Great food and wonderful service. Mariana took care of us tonight and she is attentive and really nice! I had the Texas Cobb salad topped with grilled shrimp. It was delicious. We also had a crab and shrimp fresco pasta which they made special with gluten free pasta. My friend loved it. They also have live acoustic music on Friday nights! This was our first time here. Our waitress was new and she was absolutely awesome! Unlike most waitresses who are new, she was honest about it and she made our experience nice. The food was really good! The only thing that was saddening was that when you scan their QR code for the drink menu, it automatically brings up the happy hour menu first (which I was super stoked about) but then was told it wasn't happy hour. Brunch was okay the day I went 1/21/23... There was a musician there who was way too loud for the size of the space and the tables were crowded together which was a bit awkward. The hostess seemed inconvenienced to have more than one group to seat at a time and our server was okay to start but seriously pushy over ordering alcohol and then he disappeared once our food arrived. Overall it's an okay brunch, but there's other spots I would rather patronize. read more

I'll have to say location location is great, along with their facilities is beautiful, what's missing is quality tasting food. There were 5 of us that all something different, of the 5 only one eating a hamburger was happy. In my case I ordered soup and sandwich, with vegetables soup, they brought out sandwiches and tomatoes soup with extra cost vegetables soup, to be honest of the three, I would not suggest any. I was really hoping for a restaurant with good food, good service. Our waiter started out good, then more people came, and our server couldn't keep up with nothing. Im not sure we will ever come back, if the food was good and service was bad it's one thing, but there is nothing at all that will bring me or my $250.00 bill back. The service was OK but there doesn't seem to be much training that goes on as the waitress had no clue on how to open a bottle of wine let alone present it. RESPONSE TO OWNER: it was the border egg rolls. The menu in the restaurant did not list any pork in the rolls. And the manager on staff admitted that pork products are present in the food despite not being listed on the menu. The manager did try her best to make this right and was extremely professional. But it still is concerning when I asked the server several times and was assured over and over pork wasn't in it. read more

Friday night out and decided to take it casual at the bar. Thomas the bartender was fantastic. He showed us some of his amazing drinks he was making. I ended up having a Purple Haze. I generally don't do sweet cocktails by this one has a jalapeño-blueberry infused simple syrup that had a tiny kick at the end. I ended up ordering two. The margarita pizza was perfect. The crust was great and not too heavy. The restaurant is not loud and it set up to where you can have privacy in multiple locations. The staff was on top of all of our needs. This has a neighborhood pub feeling. Its a great place if you're looking for a great casual dining experience. We ordered all of their appetizers and they all were delicious especially the crab tower and the lobster pot stickers oh and the carnitas egg rolls is a must try, you won't be disappointed. My husband and I eat here fairly frequently because the food is generally good and it's very close to our house. Unfortunately, there are issues with the service or general experience every time we visit (and I do mean every time). We went yesterday around 5 pm. We ordered water with no ice, waitress brings it with ice and realizes her mistake and brings second glasses with no ice. No big deal. My husband ordered a Crawford Bock, waitress comes back 10 min later and says they're out. Later he orders the pistachio chicken, and they were out. They're out of one of their most popular dishes at 5 pm on a Saturday? I ordered the honey siracha salmon and subbed fries for the rice (their fries are amazing). I ask her to put the fries on a separate dish so they don't get soggy. They come out on the same plate=soggy fries. The time before this we went here for brunch, and I ordered the Union Breakfast, which comes with three eggs. They brought it out with two eggs, and I had to ask where the third egg was. What the heck? There's, quite literally, an issue every time we visit. Some small and some large. But it's annoying enough that we won't be back for a while. read more

Came on a slow night to pick up take out in which the key components to my salads were missing. (The quinoa and the jalapeño cheese cake). I found out upon returning home and called in. This was a huge inconvenience as we had already almost finished our dinner by the time my husband had returned with the missing order. To top that off, the hostess asked, "it's here. Do you want it?", very unapologetically. I'll opt to make my own salads at home or purchase from elsewhere due to this. There was one other table in the whole restaurant. Came on a Sunday morning for brunch and ordered the classic eggs Benedict. It was just okay. The hash potatoes on the side tasted slightly stale, but it could've also been the way they were fried. My wife and I had not been to this restaurant location in approximately two years. Covid seemed to prevent us from going out much. We are now trying to correct that and decided to stop by Union Kitchen in Katy. Unbeknownst to us, we arrived when they were starting Happy Hour. Given it was several hours before dinner, we ordered from their small plate's menu. The food was absolutely outstanding and plentiful enough that we could share several of the small dish offerings. The drinks were superb, as well. We had a wonderful time due to the outstanding service provided by Joe, the bartender, turned server on this day. Highly recommend The Union Kitchen in Katy. The staff is so welcoming and take amazing care - even with large groups! And then there is the food...FANTASTIC!! Everyone raved about their meal. I ordered Sarah's Chicken Avocado and others ordered Bang Bang Shrimp, Chicken Piccata, Cobb Salad, wedge salad, and the Union Burger - just to name a few. Oh, and save room for dessert!! I highly recommend the beignets! Side note- On cooler days, I love to sit on the patio. it is dog friendly! They also have wonderful promotions - like painting nights, teacher happy hour, etc!
