I have used this store many times over the years. After the pandemic their service declined. There have been changes there, turnover of the employees. Today I had an Amazon return 2/19/25. Not a big deal. I put the CD down on the counter and said I have a QR code for you. The response was "put the item on the scale". The employee could not be bothered to say please or pick the item up themselves. I said - "Say please and I will do so". She just stared at me. This person looked like she would rather be sitting in front of her big screen TV eating popcorn than working. Maybe she should do that - she is not doing the owner of this store any favors by staying. I finally was able to complete my transaction with a horrible UPS Store employee and departed. I wish I would have read the Yelp reviews before doing business at this location. The staff could not be more rude to the customers and very racist as well. I am white the lady, Danielle behind the counter acted like she was spewing venom while helping me Tuesday morning, had I been black she would have been nice to me. The only time she was nice when she was telling her coworkers to stop with the inappropriate conversation that everyone in the store could hear. I went back there this morning to check on my package and got the same lady, and again not very nice. You know if you don't like your job, move on but the customer service here is absolutely horrible. While I was being helped the other lady behind the counter was mopping/dusting the floor while a line of customers were waiting. She did take a phone call from a customer wanting to check on a shipment and she was about as rude as it gets. She finally put the mop away to help them but that should have stopped as soon as she saw people in line. if i can give zero review i would for sure do it. Today 12/31 I came in at 4:50 and they close at 5 PM. I was so glad I could able to catch the last minute mail. But the woman (the staff) saw me opened the door. She immediately closed the door and lock it. She yelled from inside the store "no more" and told me to leave. what the heck! For years I dropped off my Amazon packages exclusively at the downtown Hayward UPS, but I started coming here recently (every once in a while - I am still dropping off at Hayward location as well) to do it instead because the location is more convenient for me. Half of the time when I drop off packages here, Amazon ends up charging me again because the package never makes it to the final destination. I have NEVER had this problem at the Downtown Hayward location. Downtown Hayward UPS - years of dropping off, 0 issues Castro Valley UPS - a few months of dropping off, 4 issues And yes, the workers at this location do give you the side eye when you drop things off. read more

There are times where you'll walk in with no one in front of you and other times when you might be waiting a little to be helped next. I go to this location only out of convenience. The customer service has always been consistently horrible. But today's visit topped it all. I went to get a document notarized. With no one in the store, I was instructed to wait by a counter. 10 mins later a lady that was standing around in the back doing nothing comes out. She gives me a dirty look and slowly proceeds to a desk. Another 5 mins have passed before she summons be over to her. I'm too cheap to buy laser ink, but I needed to print a few documents. With other errands, I found this store on Yelp. A nice woman helped me out I don't like to use my credit card, but I was able to pay in cash. Armed with my jump drive, I was able to complete all my printing needs. It's $3 minimum for computer use and $0.25 per page. I guess I'll go buy the ink for my computer. read more

She said I needed a special package for it not just wrapped with plastic. She pointed at the "special package" at their store. I frequent this location pretty regularly and I've never had an issue. I've done Amazon returns here and have sent multiple packages using prepaid shipping labels. Even when there is a long line I'm in and out pretty quickly. It goes fast if you go in prepared. I read a lot of reviews saying the staff isn't friendly but I don't agree. They don't go above and beyond but I also don't expect/need them to be. They're friendly enough and more importantly I need them to be quick and efficient which they are. It's a fast paced business with a lot of customers at times and I appreciate how quick they are. I'll continue to come here because it's convenient and gets the job done. And as a red headed minority I haven't experienced any discrimination here. I do have a soul and they treat me as such. read more

DO NOT use this or any other UPS locations for your NOTARY needs. Apparently, the forms they are using are rejected by the Sacramento apostil office. I paid $90 to notarize some documents, drove to Sacramento, stayed in line for 30 minutes, only to be told that forms are not valid by their standards, so I had to leave the office, find local notary service to notarize my documents with proper forms, come back, wait in line again and finally apostille my documents, and I was given a formal rejection letter by the apostle office to get a refund from the UPS. To my attempt to get a refund with a receipt and all, I was denied, the UPS store manager in Castro Valley, refused the refund, and printed out a completely different even from their store form to prove it's legit, and claimed the representatives in the apostille office in Sacramento are wrong and are trying to scam people. Sodana & Kimberly were amazing! Great teamwork on their part. I came into the store in the early evening needing a last minute run of business cards for an international colleague who forgot to pack business cards. The only glitch.. I had ONE hard copy to work with. Sodana warned me this type of job could take a couple of days. However, due to my deadline, she was able to squeeze it in between faxing, etc. She masterfully scanned, tiled and printed a few sheets on card stock. This is the most rudest ups store ever! I seriously can't believe how rude they are and how Castro valley, a nice family oriented city, allow the worker to treat us like we're nothing. The min you walk in, they are already look miserable. No greeting no nothing. They just stare at you as if they are bothered by you for coming in. I tried calling ups to complain about them, but they give me the run around how this is a franchise store and blah blah!
