Staff is fairly nice, yet really uninformed about basic shipping issues. I was returning two items to amazon, and the guy at the front insisted that they must be sent together, even though they were different items in two different boxes. So he proceeds to pull out a box cutter, opens one box and then dumps the contents into the other box. (why??) He told me this was the only way to return items that are going to the same address. Even better, he left the cut open box for me and told me they could not recycle it. I told him I had returned 1000 amazon items before and never was told that they need to be bundled together. Then after calling amazon, they told me this was totally wrong, and I was at risk of not getting a refund if this happened in the future. Next time, I'll go somewhere where people don't make arbitrary decisions about my packages that put them at risk. read more

I want to write a complain against the people woking in Elcerrito plaza store #1179 They treat me like they dnt want to do the work I came here for notary and to print pic..!! I came to do the my high school certificate copy notarized but they American African lady she said No i cant do it but there is a way that she is Not going to tell me...i was like what..???????? The other lady name Skylar who ring me up for making a photo copy was also very rude..!! The asian guy when he talked me very nicely and when he is trying to tell me how to get my certificate notarized they were giving him big eyes.. like why he is helping me.!!!! When i tried to print my picture they said its long wait and recommend me to goto cvs that they have printer so they will do faster work...!! I've been to this UPS location probably about ten times now, and every time the staff has been incredibly kind and helpful. I have even left a few times with a big smile on my face from having such a pleasant interaction. They also have a selection of very cute and silly greeting cards. I highly recommend! read more

I have been having issues with this store since I moved here in June 2018. I try not to give bad reviews unless they really deserve it and they really do. This store is always busy but when they leave the door unlocked and will not accept packages anymore because they are closing but when it's 10 minutes till closing they should always be accepting packages. I have been in the store when someone went home and took the keys home with them and the employees were talking about how that person was a moron in front of customers like myself. The store on a regular basis will not accept UPS packages.. that's your only job is to accept UPS packages. If you need more storage keep a UPS truck parked outside to store packages. Today they have a hand scrawled piece of paper saying they are no longer accepting any drop offs UPS or otherwise...but they are taking customers paying to drop off packages...what's the difference? You have room or you don't have room. The people that work there are hit and miss. The younger employees seem to not care they are there while the more veteran employees always try to be in a food mood. Maybe the store is being run badly but overall I hope this changes in 2019. read more

The lady at the register was polite, but the person that seemed to be running the store was literally throwing packages on top of a 7ft tall pile and letting them crash to the floor. She told everyone that UPS wasn't taking packages today, and refused to move packages to take passport photos, and put packages on top of scales that were being actively used to weigh other customers envelopes, which made the cashier have to restart the transaction. read more

Have been to this store twice in recent weeks. On both occasions the staff was pleasant, the service fast and the cost reasonable. On the first occasion, the manager packaged materials for me, costed out the various mailing fees and sent the stuff out pronto. Definitely a good experience. On the second occasion, I only had couple of pages to copy on the machine. This went well, I was in and out in minutes with the bill of 23 centavos. So...they are creeping up in my "star book." But the acid test will be if I order something unique, like the aforementioned business cards. I'm hoping that if they say they can do my order pronto...that it will be. And, of course, that the cost be reasonable or at least competitive. read more

Whenever someone starts spouting off about how socialism is evil and President Obama is trying to ruin our country, just point them to the UPS store. A package that would cost $6 to mail at the post office, costs $18 at a private establishment that's not subsidized by the taxpayers... Having said that, they do have really nice people working there (not the wastes of oxygen that work at the post office) and they do help you if they notice you haven't packed your package quite right... For the holidays, pay a little more and get things shipped right. read more

For my money this is the best mail/packaging store in the area. Several months ago, I returned a package sent from a pond supply company in Florida where I had ordered a fragile lighting fixture. The company had shipped me the wrong size light, so I sent the unopened package back to the original shipper via UPS. The pond supply company claimed that the product arrived damaged and refused to refund my money. They told me they had insured the package and to contact UPS, which I did. Stephanie Bandy, the El Cerrito store manager, went out of her way to help me file a claim with the UPS insurance people, who after investigating my complaint, issued a full refund for the lighting equipment I had purchased. I was amazed! Never before, have I experienced such excellent customer service from a corporate retail establishment. Stephanie Bandy and her UPS team at the El Cerrito Plaza store are terrific. The one star I give because the staffs ate very friendly... I went in there for a live scan, I was waiting inside there for at least 25min for no reason because that perish before me he was not ready ...He took too log to figure out his information. So I was forced to wait n serve even I'm ready, and the other staffs are unable to help because he occupaite the holy computer and the finger print machine!!!! I'm so so so mad, I begin I just play w the dog of other clients, then I GOT HIT ON MY FACE With their POSTMAN with loads of their boxes!!!! Ok so I have no way to tell you all the possible services this place provides because it looks like its everything from copies, stationary, internet access and package delivery. I typically just park, run in with my pre labeled envelope (created at my office) and drop it off to the smiling clerk. Never had an issue, never had to wait. The only time I received rude service was from the manager/owner and the employee made every attempt to rectify the situation after the manager walked off after not helping me. Funny huh? DO NOT go into the shopping center to park! Did you hear me? DO NOT go in to the shopping center to park. Just stay on Fairmont and park on that side. Getting out of those spots can be annoying but not as bad as the inside. Promise read more

So I rarely write bad reviews. But I frequent every UPS store in the Bay Area. Part of my job entails dropping off prepaid packages to be shipped out, and as such I have a good run down of the best UPS stores in town. This is not one of them. When you have a pre-paid package, what you really want is to drop it off without having to talk to anyone. You already have a receipt, because you bought the postage. You also already have a tracking number. This store had no area to simply drop off packages, and when I asked about it they INSISTED I had to take a receipt. I didn't want the receipt...I HAVE an ONLINE receipt. When they printed it out anyway, they insisted I take it. I asked if they had a trashcan, which they said was outside. I went outside...no trashcan. So I am supposed to have this unnecessary receipt for a package I already have a receipt for rolling around in my car? Not to mention that the staff were pretty rude, although this may just be due to the company culture of their particular store? Anyway, I won't even go here again. Go to the UPS in Emeryville Marina if you ever have the option! read more

I am not the first one to write a review about the process of getting a LIVESCAN through this UPS Store. I will make my review short. I walked in one day, not knowing what the process was to get a LIVESCAN. The girl said I needed a form from the agency / employer requesting the LIVESCAN. She did not mention that when I return I would need any other document when I return. I get the form, fill that out. I go on line and fill out the on line application / form through CERTIFIX. I was emailed a "TOKEN" which is basically a code proving I registered which the UPS store would need to finish the process. Well, I go to the UPS Store the next day (today) and the girl said I had to have it printed out. Well, I don't carry a printer with me but she offered me to forward the email that has the "TOKEN" information in it for a fee of $5. Yes, $5 to forward an email with the information. Or if I wanted to print it directly I could rent one of their computers for a separate fee. The biggest kicker here, even though I paid the $72 through the CERTIFIX n line application process, they were adding a $40 something dollar extra fee. When I called Pak Mail he advised me that there is no extra fee since I already paid on line: Pak Mail Center 649 Main St., Ste 102, Martinez, CA, 94553 GREED! GREED! GREED! What happened to just doing something nice for a customer? Receiving an email and not charging $5. Actually providing a customer with thorough instructions on the steps required for a process like LIVESCAN. Required documents, additional charges. Make sure they understand so they are not driving back and forth. I know, it is so you can charge the $5 for the email process! You are a sad representation of a UPS store and you should be ashamed! read more

I brought a package in at noon on Tuesday 12/18 and paid for it to be delivered before 8:30am on Wednesday. When I checked the tracking on Wednesday, it hadn't even left El Cerrito so I went to the store. They told me that (a) it had already gone out (not true), (b) dellivery was for the afternoon and not the morning (I paid extra for morning delivery), and (c) someone would call me later that day. I did get a call and they apologized and said it had been found, it would be delivered tomorrow (Thursday) and they would refund what I paid ($89.84). Come Thursday and I check tracking again and find out it's not expected to be delivered until end of day Friday. Granted it is the busy Christmas period but when a package that was to be delivered by 8:30am Wednesday isn't expected 'till late Friday - does not make this customer a happy camper. My thought is that when they eventually sent it out on Wednesday, they marked it as two day delivery instead of next day before 8:30am and that's just inept. read more

Not very helpful at all. The Assistant Manager was very condescending while explaining why the store doubled standard UPS rates quoted by UPS over phone. Apparently, as an independent UPS franchise, they have complete freedom to charge whatever they feel like. I got friendlier service in a Post Office, enough said. read more

Parking can be quite a pain in the butt unless you come towards their closing hours. For the most part, it is a pain in the butt (-1) Staff services: There are days when I come in and I see DMV style line to the door if not into Starbucks where I seriously consider asking "are they always under staffed"? But at least the staff here doesn't always have to run back to grab a manager just for remedial things. *knock on wood* (+2) Shipping and packing rates for packages are comparable to FedEx, but depending on what it is, like the other places, it can be quite noticeable. (Push) Want efficient pricing? Go to USPS, fiddling with their tracking services can be something else tho.. Came in here a few times to drop off packages that were pre-paid online. The first time, I had no idea if I can just drop them off and go. There was a person in front of me and he took a long time. So, I left and coincidentally ran into the guy delivering in my condo to take my packages from me. The second time, there was no line. They scanned my pre-labelled packages and put them away. I've been in here to buy boxes. They seem to offer many services that I did not use, but it's good to know there are options here. They open at 8:30am, which is a huge plus. While I can accept that they charge $2 to re-tape a package, I just wish they could have made an exception to tape a label that was peeling off to one of my boxes. read more

I found the staff to be prompt, efficient and very friendly. When I first entered the store, I saw a church member of mine being assisted by an employee, by the name of LaNise and when I went to the counter to drop off my package I was greeted promptly by another employee, whose name is Leona. After reading some of the reviews for this particular UPS store, I was a little reluctant but contrary to what I read, I am very happy to say that these two young ladies made my experience a very pleasant one and because of this experience, I do intend to use this UPS store for all my future business....!!! read more

I've gone to the store several times over the last 15 years and I never had an experience like today's. I don't know if there's new ownership, but there's a problem with the management. I had documents notarized and the entire process was extremely chaotic that I almost left without paying by mistake. Sensitive documents were strewn on a crowded counter in front of other clients. I gently suggested that they say something simple like, "I'll ring you up," to remind me to pay. I also suggested that maybe a small area could be set aside for notarizing to help. I was honestly as sweet as humanly possible as I spoke. The manager was incredibly irritated and told me, "We train our people." and regarding a small notary space, "You are overstepping your boundaries." I was shocked, was simply offering customer feedback, trying to help because I cared. I couldn't believe that the manager would respond like that. His whole demeanor was dismissive and mean. I would suggest using another notary service, Wells Fargo just next-door can help. This place deserves an "F" for poor customer service. read more

I have been searching for an exceptional shipping store since moving from Southern California. I had an amazing person out there that handled all of my business needs. I looked around everywhere out here, south bay, north bay and east bay. I found you guys a few months back and will continue to do business with you for good for a multitude of reasons. This store has extremely professional, responsive, and has proficient staff. Even when there is a long line the staff expedites their services while maintaining excellent service to each customer. I have watched and listened to how they treat each individual they are assisting. I was stressing out about an extremely time sensitive matter. I came in for a notary and the documentation I had on hand from another party was confusing. When called up to the counter, the representative whom I spoke with was able to explain everything I needed to know. She did not explain it in terminology that i wouldn't understand, showing she is truly educated and has expertise with notary services. She thoroughly read through all material I brought and identified there was a form missing. She then let me know not to worry they have that form on hand and would be able to complete my necessary service. I did have a few questions about this form i had never seen and she spent every minute needed to clarify any confusion I had, again showing her expertise and professionalism. Her name is Kajoi and everytime I now need notary services I will be coming to this location. There are many other stores much closer to my home, but because of Kajoi, I will be making the drive to this location. As stated above, I have used you guys in the past for other services and received the same exceptional service. My documentation had a time restraint and she ensured it will be completed and received by the recipient on time. She was 100% correct and my worries diminished due to her knowledge. So, a huge shout out to Kajoi for making my experience beyond 5-stars. I truly hope she gets the recognition she deserves. The woman managing this store has very clearly only been promoted to a leadership position be default because she's so incredibly inept it's a joke. She assigned us the wrong mailbox when we signed up, then didn't bother calling or mailing that info to us at all for weeks to let us know - ALL WHILE SHE WAS PERSONALLY REFUSING ALL OF THE PACKAGES THAT WERE COMONG IN FOR US BECAUSE THEY WERE BEING SENT TO THE WRONG ADDRESS THAT SHE TOLD US WAS OURS!!! Not only that, but when confronted she threatened to CALL THE OWNER OF UPS to have our box cancelled lol it's not funny because that's our business mailbox but the facts that her brain is so ... small that she would threaten to call the owner of ups because she didn't appreciate our disappointment after learning she had refused dozens of peices of our business mail... it's just a joke. It's one thing to make a mistake. It's another to blame US for her misassigning our box and refusing 20+ packages our business needed. But then to threaten to take our box away when we do to speak to a manager and ig turns out this idiot is it smh they're costing this business so much money. We immediately found another box down the street to rent just to avoid further damage to our business. I went to the El Cerrito UPS store for the second time, and again had the best service one could wish for from Shanya. I was in fact delighted to see that she was the next available assistant when my turn in line came up. People like Shanya are a real blessing to those of us who don't find it easy to deal with computer and copier functions. Located in the El Cerrito Plaza shopping area, the UPS Store (formerly Mailboxes, Etc.) has been a staple in the area. The people working here are friendly and helpful. We've used the notary service many times and have always been given first-rate service. It can get busy so sometimes there is a little bit of a wait to get served but usually that has more to do with the customer not really knowing what they want or what the various options are for shipping, photocopying, etc. They also have mail boxes available which allows you access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using a special electronic key. Locally owned and operated, you can find the owner at the El Cerrito 4th of July celebration passing out American flags sometimes! So, despite the corporate backing behind the store, it's definitely got a local business feel to it with how they treat their customers and their community. read more

*This location charges $2.00 to tape your box closed. Is tape really that expensive? Is it worth two bucks to piss off your customers? The UPS store on Solano has a tape "donation" box, so you can throw in a quarter or two. Stop charging $2.00 for TAPE.* *When I got there and asked for some tape, they said that they would need to charge me $2. Seriously, I only needed two strips of packing tape for a small 6"x6"x6" box. The cost of the tape ! & service* *I didn't want to be dramatic and give only one star but I truly couldn't find any reason to give more. They were so slow and the parking lot was crazy at 1 on a weekday. They advertise that you can pay $2 and they'll tape up a box you have a prepaid slip for but, after waiting for 15 minutes in line, they wouldn't tape mine. I had two boxes and one slip from Amazon (Amazon told me to just secure the boxes together) and they just refused. I was stunned and frustrated. I've had such wonderful experiences at the UPS store on Shattuck in Downtown Berkeley so I guess I'll just go back to that one.* *$2 taping charge! For appox 2 cents in tape cost to them.
