I came in with an envelope for international mail and asked for 4 oz. of postage. I was charged $17, but when I got home, the postage was only $7. I went back and was told after-the-fact there's also a "convenience fee". I asked why I was not told about the 130% extra fee, and received a dumb stare with no explanation. Very deceptive. After a lot of bureaucratic nonsense, this place finally admitted their fault and refunded my sister. Thank you for doing the right thing. Pro tip: UPS will take 8 business days to get your money back if they misplace your shipment, rather than just put the money back on your card, in order to do an "investigation" in to something that has a digital paper trail and therefore can be cleared up in about 5 seconds. Taking it here to the actual location though, was probably a big help in getting our money back. They would've likely found any possible way to make their losing our package our fault, had we arranged for pickup. read more

First, let me give you some background as to my own personal perspective. There are plenty of reasons for why it can suck being a college student. For instance, printing papers. Love writing them (just look how much I wrote here!), but in the year 2013, I don't see paper and ink so much as a necessity, but rather an antiquated art form best employed in areas of romantic intrigue, sentimentality, and showing your elders you care. Professors don't seem to agree, and it would be my luck that every printer I buy stops working in about a year. **Sigh**. So, I figured instead of dropping a reasonable sum of cash into another possibly unreliable printer, I've been opting for printing services such as Kinkos, UPS, etc. I've visited this UPS 3 times now. The first visit was actually quite pleasant. It's a small and quiet store with one computer and a couple of printers. The lady helping me that day told me she would waive the computer use fee (a minimum of 3 dollars, as per the sign in the shop) because I was only using it to print. That seems reasonable to me. The second time a gentleman helped me, who I've come to believe is either the manager or owner. He offered to sell me stamps during the transaction, and I thought "well, it's always nice to have stamps on hand". Then I got the bill - something like $20. There was of course a markup on the stamps (what was I thinking, buying them from a place like this?), but also a $3 charge to use the computer to print 3 pages. I didn't say anything at the time (I was pretty angry), but I resolved to ask about it the next time I went in. That was a day ago. I asked the lady at the desk (a different one this time) if she would charge me for using the computer for printing documents. She said yes, because I would technically be using the computer. She then added "Do you have a USB drive?" I said no, because my documents were accessible via email. I then asked, "Well how can I print something without using the computer?" Just as she was about to respond she hesitated, and looked pretty irritated with me (she wasn't that nice to me to begin with). Enter the manager/owner (I presume). "What's going on?" I explained. He then begins to tell me that the computer use fee is only a dollar (yes, this is the same person who charged me $3 the last time I was there), and that his business makes money on renting computers for people who don't have them. I told him I do in fact own a computer, just not a printer (which I think is more of the norm, anyway). He then tells me he'll make an exception, but I have to understand from his perspective, he's let people use the computer for just printing, and later those same people come in and try to use the computer for free. Also, that I need to know that the charge is the policy. Then something magical happened. He says... "You know, you can just email those documents to us in advance, and we can print them for you when you arrive." Wait a minute. You mean to tell me that I could have avoided this charge, but you decided to not tell me the first two visits? Only when I question your "policy", you then tell me I could have avoided spending extra money for a service I technically don't need? This is of course on top of the sudden change in the fee (from $3 to $1) and the rant about other customers using services without paying for them, when it's clear that I'm a paying customer. That's just plain unprofessional. Also, claiming the business makes it's money on renting computers when there is only 1 computer in the shop - that's just nonsense. You make your money on the impulse buys in the shop - the cards, the pens, etc. In any event, he graciously waived the fee. I emailed the documents to them from my phone (I only had to use their computer because I was printing some documents for a friend, and hers were formatted in the Pages app - it's common that shops like these don't have the software capable for opening Apple-formatted documents, yet another pain in the ***). And about the email thing...how is that secure? Anyway... I bought a pack of colored pens from the store. Unfortunately when I tried to use them in class yesterday to take notes, they ran out of ink super quick. I might be able to find a way to get them to work again, but suffice to say they were not high quality. I guess that was the cherry on top of the whole experience. I've had a mailbox at this location for over 6 years. I can have packages delivered anywhere including to my home or business. I prefer the safety and security of my packages being stored inside, not just sitting outside on a porch at my house. I get an email the moment a package is delivered. Awesome service!! I love good customer service, but then there is exceptional service that really stands out. It's when people work fast, efficient and great under pressure. I came in at the end of the day and Geoff was working, taking care of a million things at once. Juggling everyone and everything at once and quickly moving back and forth to ensure the best customer service for everyone without making anyone wait! On top of, a bad internet connection and connection failing. It's not often that you see someone doing their job well when put in that situation. He assisted and took care of me promptly! I mailed a table to myself from The UPS Store #4298 in Elk Grove to my residence in Texas. This table had been in my family for generations.I boxed the the table myself and I ask the lady at the counter if there was anything else I needed to do. She told me everything looked fine but she was going to to put a little extra tape on the box. I wanted to insure it and she said that would be a good idea. So I insured it for $500. I left The UPS Store feeling good that I would receive it back home in Texas. Well I did. In pieces. I filed the claim with UPS and they told me it was in the hands of the store that originally mailed it. I called the store and got the manager. She said there was nothing they could do for me. I asked about the insurance and she told me the insurance was for missing packages not damaged packages. This is a load of BS. The wor st UPS Store ever, Do not take your packages here. There are other UPS Stores in Elk Grove. I know they will probably delete this comment from FB but I am contacting Yelp, Google, and the BBB. I had a greatest day, before i visited this place. Not sure if he provided his real name or fake name. He said his name is Raymond. At first he doesn't know how to ship international, and said Korea is not deliverable. And then jacked up the price to $150??? Online quote and customer service's quote over the phone was $90. I told him that price is incorrect. It is 6 pgs of paper documents. Not a box shipping. Then he started to show ready to fight argument as "ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIER??" I had my 3 year old, so i walked away, but he still tried to talk smack arguments. I spoke with another customer and they were shocked too. I believe that Raymond's attitude will cause the owner big law suit someday! If anybody run into same experiences, please record the video. i regret that i don't have the video recording of how terrible Raymond was. He also commented this store is not actual UPS. They are franchise, so that it cost more to ship than UPS website / phone quote from UPS customer service. Then insults. read more

The people who work there are lazy. They have TERRIBLE customer service. I dropped off a package on 06/08 at 12:02 pm to be sent to Santa Rosa, CA by UPS Ground. They were busy so the lady behind the counter took my package and gave me a receipt. I checked that night and the package wasn't picked up yet which I thought since it was Saturday maybe they dont pick up. I checked Monday night and still hasn't been picked up. I called UPS and they told me that it might haven't been updated yet check back tomorrow morning. So on 06/11 the next morning I looked and still hasn't been updated. I called the UPS store on 06/12 & twice on 06/13 they told me that package wasn't at the store and they didn't even bother looking for it. So I called UPS again because this package should have been delivered by 06/12. UPS ended up starting an investigation and they finally found the package at the store and was picked up on 06/14. I just cant believe how lazy people can be. read more

Wow UPS! Just wow. Walked into the store at 6:19 pm to have 1 document notarized. Was told by the female employee with the purple hair that you stop at 6:15. Really she couldn't make the exception or the sale for 4 minutes? I called a different store who advised they do it until close, and when I mentioned that she was rude and said not us we tell customers we stop 15 minutes before we close. She took longer telling me no than had she just notarized the document. I was not the only person in the store either so it's not like she was about to walk out. read more

I had to return some products to a company in New Jersey. I paid $20 in freight charges to have the package shipped UPS ground to me from the company. I removed 2 items in the box that I was keping adn repacked the remaining item in the original box and took it to this UPS store to have it returned. my package was exactly the same size (since it was in the original box) and was lighter (since I'd removed 2 items.) They charged me $47 for the return. i had a schedule to keep and couldn't afford the time to find another shipper. Feeling completely robbed, I paid the $47. I will not return. Not sure if it's UPS or this particular UPS store, but I was seriously overcharged. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER. read more

My husband and I came in to drop off 2 packages. Angelina was the rudest person I've had to interact with in a long time. When my husband pulled up the Amazon label, she could not scan it from his phone. She told us that we would need to email it to the store and handed us a label with the mail address. She was helping us at one register then moved to another one and looked at us like we knew she wanted us to move down. At the end, she says" that will be 2.17 for emailing and printing ". The store is pretty standard but the employees are exceptionally nice and put up with way to much of their customers crap! They have the absolute worst customers! If you want terrible service from unprofessional who don't give a crap about your needs, then continue shopping at Staples because that is what happened to me. Staples sucks! I placed an simple order and I told them how important it was to get it done. Staples never called me and they messed up not once, not twice but thrice. Yes three different days, three different orders that were messed up. I get it, shit happens. But what I can't stand is lack of communication. They never called me, I would have to call and hunt them down about my order. Or walk into the store and see what the status is with my order. I can go on about Staples but I wont. They are not worth my time, UPS is worth your time. Excellent customer service, very professional, and everything is always done in time with great prices. The first time I went in, I wanted to print some copies and I was trying to log onto the computer but it wouldn't work, I asked the Caucasian girl who works in there what I should do since it was not working and she said, "I don't know what to tell you, I can't fix it", I went in again several months later and she was the only one at the counter, she did not even say hello and I had to go to her and ask her use the computer and printer, it was almost closing time and she said, "It's not working!" She is extremely rude and if she doesn't like people then she shouldn't work in Customer Service! Never going there again. read more

My grandfather who is 82 years old visited this store today to get visa pictures. First of all the guy who helped him had no idea what size the visa pics should be, so I had to look it up. Then he took SIX pictures of my grandpa, all of which were off center, not the right size, cut improperly, and wet when he put them in the case so they were damaged at the sides. After that he proceeded to sell them to my grandpa for $40. This store completely took advantage of my grandpa and we will never be going here again. read more

I come here to get my mail, they are always helpful and try to juggle a number of people in line wanting different things. My only complaint is when there is a notary going on, they don't have a back up person to help, so often I end up waiting for 10-15 minutes to get my mail. read more

This store refuses to pay out money for insured packages. The irony is that I paid the store to pack and ship my package, which was damaged in transit. I called multiple time to inquire about the money due to me for the insurance, and to be repaid for lack of delivery. After more than a month of empty promises to call me back with results, I wrote a letter to UPS corporate, who would not do anything either. Why pay for extra insurance when the store won't pay out when the package is damaged? This is a greedy store who is pinching nickels and steam rolling over customers all in the unethical act to pocket extra money. Now I'm forced to go to small claims court ... all because they won't pay what is due. I would recommend NOT using this UPS store, or even UPS in general because of the responses (or lack thereof) that I have received from this company.
