Julie Bedard at the UPS Store on 7th st is exceptional. I had gone in to ship a package back to a company, and had expected the shipping label in my email address. I spent about 1/2 an hour with the representative of the company, that I was shipping the package back to, trying to have her get my email address right, so that I could print it out, so that I could ship the package. The representative then told me, that it would take 24 hrs for me to get the shipping label, via email. I was fraustrated and upset. Julie, gave me her business card, and told me to leave the package, and when I receive the email from the company, to forward the email to her, and she would see to it that the package was shipped to the company. When I finally received the shipping label, the next morning, I forwarded it to Julie. Within a couple of hours I had received an email from her, along with a receipt, letting me know that she had shipped the package. In my opinion, that was exceptional customer service. HORRIBLE DISCRIMINATING EXPERIENCE WITH NOTARY SERVICES TODAY! Took my 26 year old son in today to have a simple form notarized so he can request a copy of his full birth certificate so can renew his current CA DMV ID to the CA REAL ID. My son is a young man diagnosed with autism but is capable of signing his name for this request. He signed his ID when he was 16 but she didn't ask me for that. Instead, as I was talking my son through signing the form she cut him and me off by saying she didn't feel "comfortable" because she didn't feel he "understood" what he was signing. She didn't let me or my son continue at "his pace" to sign the form. She denied my son access today to request a copy of his birth certificate because she didn't feel comfortable. I told her he was conserved by my husband and I and that I could sign for him legally but I wanted him to have the independence to sign for himself. She said she wasn't going to do it and that I would have to bring our papers in and that she would sign it then. So I grudgingly left and came back within 10 minutes with the legal documents of conservatorship. At that point, she said a certified copy of the papers wouldn't do and that I need to present the original signed legal document. Then her supervisor or rude sidekick joined in by asking me if my son signed his own ID. I said yes and presented it and she said then bring him back again and if he understands what he's signing than we'll notarize it. When do flunkies working at a UPS Store have the capabilities, education and experience of a Psychiatrist, Neurologist, Pediatrician or Behaviorist to determine whether my son can understand their question or not. They DENIED my son access today. They discriminated against him and were rude on top of it. The notary tried to tell me her mother was a special education teacher and that she understands a lot. REALLY??!! INSULTING!! I said I would make a complaint under ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and the rude sidekick said, "What's the ADA"? When I told her she just scoffed it off. Please don't use this store if you care about individuals with disabilities. I WOULD GIVE A NEGATIVE STAR RATING BUT THIS FORM WON'T LET ME. read more

I had a pre-labeled package that was ready to go. Barely stepped in through the door and I was already greeted by a young man who asked me what I needed to do, told him I wanted to drop this package off, and he got me a receipt. I was in and out in under 20 seconds. I was here at around 4:10pm on a Friday 08/12, he had a mustache. He's awesome. Thank you for making my day better and saving me so much time. They said it would cost $105....? Two very young very unhelpful very rigid females. Went to FedEx in downtown LB same thing $57! And the item will arrive a day earlier! Beware: Don't laminate anything you care to keep at UPS and don't expect basic customer service skills from these guys. I trusted UPS with a post card I had picked up on a special trip to Taiwan along with several cards that I wanted laminated so I could preserve them. Unfortunately, they were returned to me completely ruined. They were bent and the laminate edges look like they were cut or bitten by a child. When I spoke to an employee, Mylene (sp?) blamed me for it. She said, "I don't know what happened to them while they were in your possession". Why would I ruin my own things?? She offered to give me a refund but only if she kept my items! A simple apology would have been suffice. Never blame the customer for your mistakes and then try to keep your customers personal belongings. read more

I called saying I needed to open up a ups mailbox and was told it was $60 for three months... So I waste my time driving over to find out they require proof of residence matching a government ID. This was not disclosed to me over the phone. Not everyone randomly carries this around. They also then magically added on a $20 set up fee and a $10 key deposit fee and the price was $66/3mo not $60. read more

I'm not sure what was going in this evening. So I arrived at the store 10 minutes before closing. I was inquiring about shipping a flask. I realized it wasn't completely empty and ask where come I dispose it. The staff informed me that I could pour it outside. So I did. I came back in the store, another staff member gave me a bottle of water to rinse it. I went back outside to pour it out. As I'm pouring the water out, I was rudely approached by a ups driver saying, "excuse me ma'am can you move away from my truck. I'm trying to drive off." So then I go back in the store to continue and the staff member says he was just trying to move his truck. I advised her that I was standing there proper to him getting in the truck and he could've waited a second. She keeps going on and on about him being a nice guy. So we continue on the ship the item. She asked for my Id. I informed her that I didn't want my name on it, but she can use my business name. She advised me that she was being NICE allowing me to use my business name.. I told her I use my business name for all shipping and that she could look up my ups store acct... She told me that the stores were franchised and she couldn't look up that info. After crying due to frustration from being treated so poorly, the shipment was sent. I've had accounts with different ups stores from LA county to San Bernardino and never had problem like this. They always look my account up. This is probably a good store but idk why they treated me so bad. I was just trying to ship an empty flask to a friend that was left in my car. read more

I dropped off two packages on Saturday morning, and was told they'd be there by Wednesday. I got a call from them a few hours later, saying they made a mistake and they wouldn't be there till Friday. I told them that was too late, and since this was their mistake, would they eat the additional costs. I was told yes, they would. Then another call on Monday. My packages are still at the store, and they won't be there till Friday, they say. Unless, that is, I'll pay the additional fee to get them there on Thursday. This is a day too late as I'd already told my contacts to expect a shipment on Wednesday, and to be expected to pay more than double the original price to get it there a day later is galling. Finally, they refunded me half of my original shipping, but the package will be there two days later than they had originally said--which is too late for me. This entire exchange has been frustrating and the end result was still much less than I was originally told to expect. If I must do business with UPS again, I will but my expectations are now very very low. read more

When you make a large amount of color copies and the counter girl says, " I dunno, like 20 cents" when you ask how much color copies are, it comes as an unpleasant surprise when they are actually 49 cents. This more than doubles my expected price and the girl didn't feel this was important enough for her to mention, even when you are paying ask, "wait, that's like 50cents a copy" and she just mumbles under her breath. Is is that hard to find staff that is either knowledgable OR friendly? I won't be back. I hope you guys aren't paying this girl more than minimum wage. read more

Customer service is usually ok. Today wasn't different but, the employee failed to tell me the price for scan to email. So he proceeded to help me. When it came time to ring me up 121 pages of scan documents came too $72.59. At .59cents a page that nobody disclosed to me. Even the employee was outraged and asked his fellow employee "Is this right? ". The employee said "yup". This is outrageous and ridiculous. read more

I dropped off some returns and I was with my son at that time. He's 6 six old, I was trying to juggle between the big box, locking my car and holding my son's hand. This very nice UPS guy was about to leave, he noticed be. He got if his truck, carried the biff biz for me. He opened the door and assisted me. STAY AWAY!!!!! WORST UPS STORE. They were "re-modeling" and got there 2 hours before they closed and there doors were locked but they opened up to take a lady's package but when I tried to give my "pre-paid package" right after her he said no and gave me an attitude and was told to drive 8 miles to another store and told me to yelp it and their employee was confrontational and Rude. Worst experience ever and don't even know how this store is still open. Will never come back and hope they go out of business. I was helped efficiently when I tried to send back a defective computer. I enjoyed the worker's charismatic approach when he helped. The shipping was reasonable and my experience was nice. I went to retrieve a package that was shipped to the store. The staff politely requested $5 for "receiving and holding" my package. When I asked about the charge I was informed that it accrued daily. No grace period? "If you have a PO Box then there is no charge". I would have to receive 28 parcels a year to make it worth having the box. Fedex holds items for 5 days! I hope this is not a system wide policy but just an aberration of the particular Long Beach Store I tried on 7th St. read more

I have never had a problem with this location. Everyone is polite, helpful and usually can multi-task two clients. My company uses them as our shipper. However, I subtracted 2 stars for following reasons: -parking -hours A tip for parking: It's small and if you come during a time that it is busy it is very hard to navigate in and out of the parking lot. Hours: They close around 6:00 pm but I believe the last pickup is at 5:30 pm so regardless you need to be there before the last pickup at this time. I find this inconvenient as Fedex locations are open later. This can be a challenge when you need to send things out later in the day but I don't have time to drop off during the morning. The morning can be busy because everyone is trying to access the parking lot to get Starbucks. One morning it took me 30 minutes just to park and drop off a labeled/paid package. Today I was lucky. The lot was empty around 4pm. read more

I signed up for a UPS store box at this location a little over a year ago--now I don't know how I ever lived without one! It isn't cheap, but it is worth every cent. The staff great me by name every time I walk through the door! Anytime I have asked for their help with anything, they have gone above and beyond to accomodate my request. They are always up front about the cost of their services vs. Post Office, etc. They even have supported my business, though not in a quid-pro-quo kind of way--in a community kind of way. Love them! I had a package rerouted to this location after the UPS truck tried to deliver to my apt. The gate was locked, so that wasn't their fault. However, I had it rerouted because the hours of this store online say they close at 5 on Saturdays. Not true. They close at 3. My package was already late to begin with, so now I have to wait till Monday. Oh well. I called the store early Monday morning and they said it would be in by noon. Not true. I went to store at noon and the girl who "helped" me said it might be at their Cerritos holding center, and that if I had it rerouted then most likely it would be another business day till it arrives. Doesn't that defeat the purpose???? I asked if she could track it for me to see where it was, and she just said no and acted like she was too busy to deal with my questions. I understand that things have been a bit slow or weird with parcels and what not, but that doesn't excuse poor customer service from the girl who "helped" me, or poor package tracking on the part of the delivery drivers. Very sad! This place used to be great. Run by two ladies, but apparently it changed hands. I asked if the ladies still owned it and they said no. I asked who the new owner(s) were and nobody answered. I asked again and they literally ignored me. I asked a third time and the employee stared into my eyes and didn't say anything. I was like WTF?! I'm speaking to you! They ended up messing up my print job and I had to ask 2 different people to ring me up. So sad. read more

Just one headache after another. They're too incompetent to have machines that are able to print off USB or actually successfully print from their emailed files that literally to print anything, you must 'rent' their piece of crap computer for $1. I have had many many Things done here and they are ALWAYS wrong. I now go much out of my way to a different, more sensibly equipped store. read more

Absolutely the WORST experience Iv ever had. I needed to ship some very expensive speakers to Miami. I brought them to this UPS store and paid for the store to package and ship them, costing me $300. I also made sure to buy the insurance because of the value of my package. When they arrived to the destination they were completely beat up. No big deal, I understand things happen, that is why I purchased the insurance in the first place. Now the trouble begin. I contact the store to file a claim and have my money returned to me for the damaged product. At first the store staff was very helpful and worked with me to file my claim. They continued to help me until they realized that they were going to be the ones responsible for honoring my insurance, and paying me for the damage. UPS wasn't going to take responsibility for the claim because the item had been packaged poorly, which again I had paid the store to package them for me so the responsibilty laid with them. Then it turned into a cat and mouse game of them trying to avoid and delay paying me. It took almost 2 months of me making weekly phone calls trying to figure out when I would get my refund. Finally I started physically going to the store so I couldn't be ignored. There last attempt to not pay me had to be the worst display of business Iv ever experienced. The owner of the store had his PARENTS pull me into the corner and try and guilt me into not making them refund me! They laid a sob story on me about how I was taking there retirement money. It was so uncomfortable and unprofessional. SIDE NOTE ( I am visibly pregnant and this money is for my maternity leave) So long story short DO NOT ship anything important from this location. They will do anything they can to not honor the insurance you purchase on your package. - Also they WAY overcharge for every transaction they do. Very money hungry and dishonest people. read more
