I have been using this ups store for many many years. I chose it for "my choice" deliveries because the people were smart, nice and it was on my way to work. I still like all of the staff very much as they recognize me and are really helpful (the exception being Matilda, who is usually pretty bossy). The one down side is this is a pretty busy location so there is sometimes a line. But they work fast and efficiently! read more

Can I give less than 1 star to this horrid UPS store? Now trying to deal with Manager (Matilda) after the store never shipped and now lost a package of gifts for my baby grandson, some of which were irreplaceable items Ive been saving that were my son's. March 31st is when I dropped the package off and the tracking number never worked, label was not created until 6 hours after that (if it ever was really made), past the last shipment time, and the package location has never been able to be traced since the moment I left that day. Filed the claim on April 3rd, sent all the receipts for the value of the items, NOTHING! Today is April 22. Im having to fight and beg to be compensated $100 plus the shipping I paid because this store is managed so poorly. Boxes piled and disorganized everywhere when you go in. Awful. read more

I don't appreciate her rudeness, her refusal to listen to what I'm saying(i.e.. my package is directly behind you...she spent five minutes looking for it and then comes back to tell me that she can't find it) and her constant bad attitude. For example: Yesterday the store was empty, there was one person in the front and the manager in the back. I asked if the front person could help me and my many packages to my closely parked car. Super fast service at this location. There were two workers when I came in. They both greeted me right away and all the other customer as soon as they got in. They were both attentive and helpful. As soon as someone came in, I can see that they both try their best to serve the customer and get them on their way. So, they were very good at multitasking. This store is the bee's knees. I love buying presents for pals, but I'm the WORST at mailing them out. ...which is why intended Christmas presents usually end up being Valentine's presents. I just went in for two simple Amazon returns. My boxes weren't taped closed and my labels weren't affixed. They did everything for me. I felt bad and was trying to tape my boxes with their tape, etc., but the young lady helping me offered to do all of it. It was only two boxes, but I felt bad that she was doing everything for me. They have impeccable customer service. Julie (the owner) is super caring and hires staff that share her attentive and outgoing approach. It gets busy during evening hours and there can sometimes be wait then, but this is just the nature of a small local UPS store: you can only fit so many employees in there at one time. I have a PO Box there and they often remember which box # I am as soon as I walk in the door. read more

The customer service at this location is outstanding. I've never had to wait long. I use bookrenter.com to order textbooks, and they use UPS shipping for returns. I come in with my textbook and my ripped up envelopes/boxes and my packing slips and who knows what else, and someone always takes everything out of my hands with a smile and a receipt and I know that it will arrive safely. And it always has! I used USPS ONCE to return a textbook, and I never will again! I know it's a government agency so it's a whole different ball game, but UPS is just a delight, as opposed to the harassed-looking & cranky postal service workers. Heading over there today! So I've never gotten a notary before so I didn't really know what to expect. I needed it to apply for financial aid for school. The financial aid office said I could just get my citizenship notarized. I presented my citizenship to the ups worker and she didn't know what to do with. She was so clueless and wasn't helping me out at all. Instead, she was giving very ambiguous answers as if I was missing obvious information. She was no help at all. This place is so efficient. I had a list of errands to accomplish. I had to fax some information, get a notary for stocks I was going to sell, scan the documents to send electronically and then send them physically. I was able to buy the full sized envelope there to send with a receipt on arrival. I finished ALL the tasks within 20 minutes! One tip: Park on 7th St. instead of the small parking lot they share with Starbucks and the Sushi place. It is a dead end and usually packed. read more

The head staff lady here sucks and is not professional at all. As a former UPS employee in Management in a major hub its not hard to identify terrible customer service. She gets overwhelmed with small risks and spends more time trying to make paying mailbox customers feel guilty for her lack of being able to respond to the obvious demand of a ups store. This is a serviceable and friendly location. I haven't had any problems with em, so I prolly take that ease for granted. In and out, no problem. They have a small workstation to take care of business in case you forgot some small thing, like taping up your package. But why is it when I need to ship a return item I've ordered online, it costs more to return it to them than it did to receive it? That's not the branch's issue, but it's a puzzler to me. Julie Bedard at the UPS Store on 7th st is exceptional. I had gone in to ship a package back to a company, and had expected the shipping label in my email address. I spent about 1/2 an hour with the representative of the company, that I was shipping the package back to, trying to have her get my email address right, so that I could print it out, so that I could ship the package. The representative then told me, that it would take 24 hrs for me to get the shipping label, via email. I was fraustrated and upset. Julie, gave me her business card, and told me to leave the package, and when I receive the email from the company, to forward the email to her, and she would see to it that the package was shipped to the company. When I finally received the shipping label, the next morning, I forwarded it to Julie. Within a couple of hours I had received an email from her, along with a receipt, letting me know that she had shipped the package. In my opinion, that was exceptional customer service. I came into this location after having a horrible experience with the location on Pine Street in Downtown Long Beach. It was like night and day. We were able to speak with Julie over the phone and asked her if she could provide notary services and, due to time constraints, if they could also get out an important document there. She stated, that they definitely could and we were excited to get there. Upon our arrival, she greeted us with a smile and kindness and let us know that she would be with us after her customers who were already in line. We kind of both stated that we were the ones on the phone and it seemed like she recognized us immediately and stated that she figured as much, and she would be more than willing to ensure that all of our needs were met per our conversation and as soon as possible. She very quickly took care of the several customers before us and made copies of our documents, provided the notary, and ensured that we knew all the options to get our package to the correct recipients in a timely manner. It took a while to get everything taken care of but she was totally focused on us and our needs and greeted everyone else who came in, though still made sure that we were number one. That made us feel good and valued. She remained patient the entire time and it was a very very good experience. She was very friendly, very courteous, and very professional. I greatly appreciated that. I will be back there when I have other similar needs and would definitely recommend this particular location, and Julie, to anyone for all of your office, shipping, notary needs, and more. Thats how you do it, Julie. You went above and beyond! You show them how to provide good and quality customer service! Thank you!!! We appreciate you! UPDATE: I had another unexpected situation where I needed to quickly run out to get some documents signed and notarized as well as send them off overnight. Still, she greeted me with a smile and when I got to the counter, she took her time and knocked everything out, despite all the traffic. She remained professional and so I'm very thankful for her consistency. That really matters. It's not a one-time thing or based on emotions. She's just very good at what she does, patient, logical, and genuine. She admits if she was wrong, acccepts responsibility, and keeps it moving. Awesome! Oh, just dont call her "Julia". Lol. (Inside joke) UPDATE: on Saturday April 17th, I went back to UPS store to take care of another transaction. My immediate thoughts were that I would see Julie since she's the one that I've seen every time I went there, be it on the weekends or during the weekday. However, that particular day, she was not there and not on the schedule. I ended up working with Emily. She was no Julie. I don't try to compare, but, the customer service was like day and night. She did a decent enough job to eventually get the job done. But there was one point early on in the transaction where I asked her to wait to put the papers in an envelope so I could add copies & she kind of just dropped them in a very hasty and bad attitude type manner and I gave her the eye and then she looked like oh I'm sorry did I do something wrong. I told her I did not appreciate her reaction and response. Eventually, she got it together after that experience. I would also like to add Jose, another CSR there, is very poor at customer service. I walked in. He was with someone. There were no other CSR's around. He never said hello or barely made eye contact in any way and just kept working w/the customer for appr. 5 minutes before Emily came out. I called later to ask Emily about a text message that appeared to be affiliated with my transaction. It stated my package had been changed. Jose answered. He said Emily was at lunch although I could hear her. He was rude when talking and very dry about the situation. Robot. Needs training. Julie help! Initially, 5 stars with Julie. I came here super stressed out bc I had to send my book back and I have never mailed anything ever. Desiree was super helpful and efficient! I've been to other UPS Stores where they charged me a whole $6 just for tape and she taped my box as a courtesy which was very much appreciated. She gave me a receipt and told me she will take care of it from there. I came back two days later and printed out documents on nice paper and had it binded by her as well. HORRIBLE DISCRIMINATING EXPERIENCE WITH NOTARY SERVICES TODAY! Took my 26 year old son in today to have a simple form notarized so he can request a copy of his full birth certificate so can renew his current CA DMV ID to the CA REAL ID. My son is a young man diagnosed with autism but is capable of signing his name for this request. He signed his ID when he was 16 but she didn't ask me for that. Instead, as I was talking my son through signing the form she cut him and me off by saying she didn't feel "comfortable" because she didn't feel he "understood" what he was signing. She didn't let me or my son continue at "his pace" to sign the form. She denied my son access today to request a copy of his birth certificate because she didn't feel comfortable. I told her he was conserved by my husband and I and that I could sign for him legally but I wanted him to have the independence to sign for himself. She said she wasn't going to do it and that I would have to bring our papers in and that she would sign it then. So I grudgingly left and came back within 10 minutes with the legal documents of conservatorship. At that point, she said a certified copy of the papers wouldn't do and that I need to present the original signed legal document. Then her supervisor or rude sidekick joined in by asking me if my son signed his own ID. I said yes and presented it and she said then bring him back again and if he understands what he's signing than we'll notarize it. When do flunkies working at a UPS Store have the capabilities, education and experience of a Psychiatrist, Neurologist, Pediatrician or Behaviorist to determine whether my son can understand their question or not. They DENIED my son access today. They discriminated against him and were rude on top of it. The notary tried to tell me her mother was a special education teacher and that she understands a lot. REALLY??!! INSULTING!! I said I would make a complaint under ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and the rude sidekick said, "What's the ADA"? When I told her she just scoffed it off. Please don't use this store if you care about individuals with disabilities. I WOULD GIVE A NEGATIVE STAR RATING BUT THIS FORM WON'T LET ME. read more

Barely stepped in through the door and I was already greeted by a young man who asked me what I needed to do, told him I wanted to drop this package off, and he got me a receipt. I was in and out in under 20 seconds. I was here at around 4:10pm on a Friday 08/12, he had a mustache. He's awesome. Thank you for making my day better and saving me so much time. Beware: Don't laminate anything you care to keep at UPS and don't expect basic customer service skills from these guys. I trusted UPS with a post card I had picked up on a special trip to Taiwan along with several cards that I wanted laminated so I could preserve them. Unfortunately, they were returned to me completely ruined. They were bent and the laminate edges look like they were cut or bitten by a child. When I spoke to an employee, Mylene (sp?) blamed me for it. She said, "I don't know what happened to them while they were in your possession". Why would I ruin my own things?? She offered to give me a refund but only if she kept my items! A simple apology would have been suffice. Never blame the customer for your mistakes and then try to keep your customers personal belongings. read more

I called saying I needed to open up a ups mailbox and was told it was $60 for three months... So I waste my time driving over to find out they require proof of residence matching a government ID. This was not disclosed to me over the phone. Not everyone randomly carries this around. They also then magically added on a $20 set up fee and a $10 key deposit fee and the price was $66/3mo not $60. read more

I dropped off two packages on Saturday morning, and was told they'd be there by Wednesday. I got a call from them a few hours later, saying they made a mistake and they wouldn't be there till Friday. I told them that was too late, and since this was their mistake, would they eat the additional costs. I was told yes, they would. Then another call on Monday. My packages are still at the store, and they won't be there till Friday, they say. Unless, that is, I'll pay the additional fee to get them there on Thursday. This is a day too late as I'd already told my contacts to expect a shipment on Wednesday, and to be expected to pay more than double the original price to get it there a day later is galling. Finally, they refunded me half of my original shipping, but the package will be there two days later than they had originally said--which is too late for me. This entire exchange has been frustrating and the end result was still much less than I was originally told to expect. If I must do business with UPS again, I will but my expectations are now very very low. read more

When you make a large amount of color copies and the counter girl says, " I dunno, like 20 cents" when you ask how much color copies are, it comes as an unpleasant surprise when they are actually 49 cents. This more than doubles my expected price and the girl didn't feel this was important enough for her to mention, even when you are paying ask, "wait, that's like 50cents a copy" and she just mumbles under her breath. Is is that hard to find staff that is either knowledgable OR friendly? I won't be back. I hope you guys aren't paying this girl more than minimum wage. read more

Needed a guitar packaged, insured, and shipped only to San Fernando Valley from this Long Beach store! Smaller very light weight guitar in a very hearty hard shell case! They said it would cost $105....? Two very young very unhelpful very rigid females. Went to FedEx in downtown LB same thing $57! And the item will arrive a day earlier!
