Today was my first time at this UPS store location and the gentleman working (Mike) was very helpful. He was friendly and even helped show me some boxes from the back that were not on display. He took the time to show me different options and even went as far as to fold the boxes and discuss the prices. Good people deserve good reviews and this man certainly does his job right. Mike and his store deserve the pathetic rating and reviews. I stopped in here randomly to drop off a package. I asked if I could have a single piece of tape and Mike ripped a piece off a role and placed it on my package. I asked for another piece because that wasn't where I was going to tape the package to which he replied "you can buy a roll right there". I replied "I literally need two tiny pieces and I would have ripped the piece you pulled into four pieces had you not just slapped it on the package". Mike told me that I don't get it and I'm entitled because I don't think I should have to pay for tape. No Mike, I shouldn't have pay for 8 inches of tape and if you're not willing to dedicate less than $.02 of tape to a paying customer you probably shouldn't be in the packing business or you should just put up a sign that says you have a zero tape policy. It's called a cost of doing business Mike and I'm sure a $5 roll of tape would be more than enough to satisfy dozens of customers and help you avoid a crappy rating and uncomfortable confrontations like the one we just had. And please no one lecture me about the cost of tape and how people abuse it. All businesses have these types of sunk costs and it's the owners responsibility to figure out how to handle it gracefully and profitably. Mike has done neither and the reviews of his place are reflective of his competence. Go to another UPS store. read more

I will avoid this place at all cost, and I only live around the corner. The man that works there, who is pictured on this site, couldn't be any ruder, and seemingly easily frustrated with every single thing that someone does that is not to his liking. I dropped off a legal sized mailing envelope, with a UPS label. He angrily stated that I should have used something larger, due to needing to being more secure with what I needed to send. I apologized, and stated that I was unaware of the protocol. He still continued to treat me rudely. After reading all these other reviews, when is this guy going to just lighten up, and realize that people aren't doing things as a personal assault to him? There are a few UPS places in the Marina and Santa Monica. Avoid this place at all cost. ***i went to the Marina UPS, and they were lovely. I also found out something surprising. This is my very first negative review, I tend to use Yelp for glowing reviews, but in this case, I feel I have to warn others. The owner of this UPS store is rude, dismissive and downright hostile to customers. He used profanity at me and yelled because I asked to use his scissors to cut some packing tape. He did this in front of a line of customers, and two of them left the store because of his rudeness. On my way to another UPS store, I pulled over to drop off my packages with a UPS truck driver, who was incredibly nice and helpful. I told him about experience, and he laughed because he this man is well known for his rudeness. The UPS guy said it's not even worth my time to call UPS Corporate because the rude guy is also the owner and can treat people poorly if he wants to. There are better UPS store choices in my area and I will never give this man another cent of my business. read more

This is the very best UPS store on the entire west side. I've tried many of them. I have to say that I drive out of my way to come here because I always get treated respectfully, promptly and they ALWAYS give receipts for pre-paid package drop offs. I don't know about you, but I want a freaking receipt if I'm returning something expensive to Amazon, don't you? They never complain or resist here. The office is neat and orderly. It's almost never crowded. There is ALWAYS ample parking and the location is at a very good crossroads that's easy to get to (Venice and Centinela). AVOID THIS HORRIBLE PLACE. Most rude d*ck of an owner I've ever met. Surprised this place still exists with him running it tbh. I asked for a piece of tape for my box. He said I have 1 free one. Asked for 1 more since I just needed to seal the other side and he said I had to buy a roll for $5 LOL. What a joke. This is the best shipping/UPS option on the westside. Mike the owner is always in an upbeat, hilarious mood and I always leave in a better mood. Mike went above and beyond to help me with my damaged item. I recently moved out of state and had a lamp shipped out from this location. When it arrived damaged, I called the store and Mike helped walk me through the process of filing a claim. There were so many frustrating moments. The UPS at my new city picked up the merchandise for inspection and then mistakenly shipped it back to the old location rather than returning it to me...we're talking across the country. Mike intercepted the shipment delivery at some point in transit, but when I received it the second time, it was completely destroyed. The lamp was worth a lot in monetary and sentimental value, so it was bad enough to see it broken twice. When everyone else at the corporate damage department denied accountability, Mike helped get my claim through. He restored my faith in humanity. This is my go-to UPS store, I go every time I need to ship something. Michael is always a huge help, get's me in and out quickly, is entertaining, and he knows the shipping business inside and out. He's also a NO BS kinda guy, which is what I think bothers some people....which is the real BS with all the one star reviews. No Wonder there's such low ratings for this location. I came in with all my packages ready to go all have labels on them except for one for which Amazon gave me a QR code to show on my phone. The clerk asked me to place my phone on the counter instead of holding it up for her to pointer laser at. I said I don't want to put my phone down on your counter. A man emerged from the back to tell me that either I put it on the counter or I can go somewhere else. so obviously he is not interested in my safety my asking me to put my phone down on his counter where thousands of packages get set down all through the day and who knows what's on those packages. Whereas holding my phone from a safe distance for a laser to be pointed is extremely safe and reasonable. after I made a comment that it was unreasonable to ask me to put my phone on the counter with this covid-19 come on come on come on come on come on come on. Luckily the phone rang to distract him and the clerk scanned my QR code from a reasonable distance. He had said next time go to a different store. Gladly. I recommend everyone go to a different UPS store then maybe someone will get the right idea about how to speak to customers and what's reasonable. This store (and specifically this guy) sure gets beat up on Yelp. My experience wasn't terrible at all and actually better than other UPS stores. He took the time to answer my questions, package my item for me, and take care of business. I thought he was somewhat short with the other customers as they patiently waited, but he wasn't rude at all, and at least communicated with each of them. I wandered back in here as I saw the UPS sign, hoping that the manager/owner/hoodlum that was there before finally retired, died, whatever. Well no such luck. As soon as I saw him rambling profanities at another customer I turned and started to walk out. When I did that it caused him to yell even louder at the customer at the counter for ruining his business. Why oh why does UPS allow their sign to be hung outside his store. What did I do next? The parking is tough in this tiny shopping center at Venice Blvd. The guy who is always in there just seems to hate his job. He rarely smiles and is always abrupt and I always feel like I'm personally offending him, to return my Amazon goods there. Avoid at all cost. The bald attendant is rude and abrasive. I was on the phone with a client and he started yelling at me. I had no idea what he was taking about and was just trying to mail a quick work letter and finish a work call. He then accused me of touching customer boxes which I didn't. As I said I'll go to another location he continued to berate me and when I was getting into my car he stood out the front door giving me the middle finger. You can't make this stuff up guy is insane. After this incident, I immediately I look up reviews on Yelp and Yellow pages and they are littered with similar stories check them yourself too many to even believe. Best bet is to go to the UPS up the st at 10401 Venice Blvd it is 1 mile or so away. Don't go to this store unless you're prepared for rude and hostile service. I went in to return some equipment to AT&T that was a prepaid return. Based on the instructions I had in my hands, UPS was supposed to repack and use my AT&T customer ID number to return the equipment. I also had a return label and the man at the counter said "do you want me to use that label?" I tried to respond with the AT&T instructions that I had in my hand and the man cut me off and said "they have five ways to return this stuff". Very passive aggressive. So I try again to explain that my understanding was that he was supposed to repack and use my customer ID number and he cut me off again and said more loudly and aggressively "I'm trying to explain to you that they have five different ways to do it!" and he picked up the package and then said, what do you want me to do? He didn't explain anything. It was clear that he wasn't going to let me finish speaking, or explain what my options were, or perhaps read the instructions I had in my hand. I ended up just slapping the label on the box and he gave me the receipt and I left. I should have just walked out and taken the business to someplace that understands and values customer service. In reading some of the other reviews, its clear to me that this is not an isolated incident of a guy having a bad day. It seems like this guy has a lot of bad days. Went into this location to return 2 large bulky boxes. They took one and I had to go back home and get a different label for the second box. When I got there and began to set the large bulky box on the counter, the worker came out from the back and snarled at me to not put the box up because he needed to see the label. And, didn't I read the sign! Mind you that I couldn't see the sign due to carrying this large box. He continued to snarl at me while scanning and printing my receipt. I said to him, "just because you are having a bad day, don't take it out on me". This irritated him further and he accused me of having an attitude. I left. read more

Such a pleasant experience I had to leave a review. Stopped in to mail a package to Canada, sending packages to Canada can sometimes be time consuming but Mike had me out in minutes and with a great price. Mike is a very nice fellow who knows his business, he seems to know every customer who walks in, and keeps treats handy for customer's dogs. Black guy who works here is incredibly rude and yelled at me that store was closed, when there was still 10 min before closing and all I had to do was drop off a prepaid package. He let somebody in seconds before he told me no. I'm 39 weeks pregnant and it was difficult to walk as is. The least he could do was be cordial before he slammed the door. And another person who got there a few seconds after me was also shocked the store closed already. I have video footage from my dash cam. I later documented him opening up the store a little after 9:00am anyway (the sign still says closed though he may be physically inside), so what is the huge deal? Last time I came here he was busy yelling at some girl for no good reason. Totally unprofessional. I'd rather he keep working here than to lose his job and be on welfare, I cannot imagine that anyone would ever hire him. This is an independent franchise so I guess UPS doesn't like to interfere. My recommendation is to go down the street to the Villa Marina Marketplace location. It literally took them 15 seconds from the time I walked in, to the time I finished my transaction (i.e. scan in my 2 prepaid packages, hand me the receipt with tracking numbers, and answer a question about UPS dropbox package dimensions). I was treated cordially, and am confident that my package was not going to be sabotaged ... a concern that some other reviewers had expressed and that I now harbor. There was so much ample parking! I don't like giving bad reviews to places, but I would never like to return here again. I think the mix of reviews comes from the service you look for/ or the staff you have to deal with. I do not intend to shame this place, you can probably get proper service if you just have to drop off something or just mail stuff (things which are straightforward and easily done). However, my problem is when you have any complications/need additional help, the service is very unprofessional and rude. I had some issues with my UPS delivery to address so I arranged for a pickup at this store. I arrived here in morning and I was treated very nicely by the female staff. She was kind enough to answer any questions I had and very patiently listened to my UPS package delivery problem. I was then asked to come in the afternoon to check again, not very convenient but still fair and professional. The specifics of my problem required me to make a call to UPS before I come in the afternoon. I recognized there was a change in voice ( this was Michael, the store owner, on the phone now). Now the bad review comes for Michael who attended me very rudely and I could barely get any help on the phone. He refused to listen to any specifics of my problem and I was hung up on and my calls were re-routed to an automatic assistant. Afterwards, he did pick up and I was treated again with contempt and rudeness. Making the trip to the store, I was refused any constructive help regarding my problem and Michael just wanted to be done with me, again being unprofessional and rude. I couldn't get the package and got a very bad taste of consumer service. He is ignorant, rude and unprofessional. I understand the positive reviews would come from people for whom the process was rather simple - drop stuff off/ mail something - straightforward things; however the way any queries regarding unexpected problems during delivery are treated is very unprofessional.
