I love this location, the owner is always helpful with my packages and returns. He's always trying to do his bests for his clients.

Wow. The infamous MIchael just had a meltdown right in front of me. I needed one seam of a box taped, but because it was a side seam and not center seam he refused to tape the box and threw a tantrum, ranting about not giving away tape. I actually became scared he might start foaming at the mouth. Never again. There are plenty of other shipping options nearby - no reason to subject oneself to this. And Michael, if you read this, please get yourself some help. read more

I've been using this store's services for 4 years now. I keep a PO box there and have shipped lots of packages from there, either Amazon returns or Christmas packages and the such. Mike has always been extremely friendly and helpful. Other then messing with the parking (where is parking easy in LA), this is a great place to use. read more

I have never had an issue here. I usually just drop off pre-packaged boxes but once in a while I need to ship something direct. It's cheaper than the post office and you always get a tracking number. Loss of a star for the tiny parking lot and it feeling like a dirty warehouse inside. But once again, the employees have always been nice to me. read more

Maybe Michael's just having a bad week? Well based on ALL the reviews from this week he certainly is. And I'm here to add another one. I walked in today and within SECONDS was the target of his abuse. I was screamed at to step back into line (there was no line) when all I had done was pick up an envelope from the shelf and put what I wanted to ship down on the table in the middle of the store. I was certainly not out of bounds in any way and was completely shocked that this man had the gall to speak to a customer that way. I informed him that I would be taking my business elsewhere and left the store (Go to the FedEx on Maxella in Marina Del Rey... the people there are courteous and professional and the store has been maintained to this century's standards). He laughed and told me to get out. Disgusting behavior that should not be tolerated. Update: Call the corporate office at (800)789-4623 and log a formal complaint. The person I spoke to was very receptive and professional and has promised to bring up these problems to the local manager. read more

After 4 visits I can verify how bad this place is. Only 1 time was the old man at the counter relatively pleasant... he is usually a useless arsehole. He did not know how to do a return from AT&T... and asked me to return when someone else was there, or go to the Marina del rey store. He is rude, and incompetent. I guess he must own the place, because no one who wants to run a successful business would have this person be who greeted and then told the customer to go elsewhere. The place on Maxella was awesome... take the extra time to drive to that store. read more

Another horrible experience at this UPS store, and another bad review to go with it. I would give zero stars if I could. I went I to the store today to get a form (as my 2 year old child was waiting in the car with a friend). There was a line 4 people deep and not a single form anywhere around that I could just grab. I went to the front counter and asked for a form and the infamous Michael (who actually OWNS this particular franchise) told me to wait in line and that he would bring it to me. Yes, for a form! So I reluctantly went to the back of the line and quickly released how crazy that was. I went back to the counter and asked the 1st gentleman in line if he minded if I just got a form (ahead of him) as I have a child waiting in the car. Of course he said no problem and this is when Michael started getting upset. Michael threatened that he told me to get in line and that he would bring it to me and that he couldn't just stop what he was doing! (Mind you, the forms are an arms reach away for him and it would have taken a second, literally). I told him I him I wasn't dropping off a package and just wanted a form and I walked out as he kept ranting about something. Now, this is the THIRD time I've had a crappy experience there. Shame on me for trying to give this place a chance. Little did I know this Michael guys has such a reputation. Stay away from this place. Do not support this man and his business. I was so frustrated today that I went as far as calling the corporate offices. No one should be attacked like this especially not when giving their patronage. My story is kind of long so skip to the conclusion if you don't want to read it I came in at around 6:30 pm when they were 30 minutes away from closing. There were two people infront of me and to be honest, I really just wasn't expecting a good experience after many visits to different postal service providers' locations all over LA. Michael was literally the most friendly store employee I've ever met in my life. Michael offered treats to a customer's dog and told the customer that he would have some other treats by the next time she visits. Michael patiently helped me with some extra tasks (because I didn't print my shipping label) and was just super friendly throughout the process. CONCLUSION: NOT SURE WHY THE REVIEW IS SO BAD HERE!! I have to say i was a little apprehensive about renting a mailbox here due to the reviews but it was close to my house so i gave it a try. I've had my mailbox here for almost 6 months now and i have to say that i've had nothing but great and pleasant experiences here. Incredibly satisfied. Run away from this place! Worst experience I've had in terms of shipping. This "manager" is in fact the owner, Michael Williams. He's not even worth the 1 star rating with his rude and obnoxious behavior both on the phone and in person. Seems I'm not the only one who has been treated this way going by the reviews either! Stay away from UPS stores in general when shipping. If you have a claim, UPS will not deal with the sender at all and only through the UPS store themselves. In this case, the owner is useless and has no idea about manners or customer service. I could be mistaken but I thought that the UPS store was supposed to take my packages and not tell me to come back at a later time? Apparently accepting a package is a complex procedure that only one employee has knowledge of and they were not working at the time I visited. When I questioned the guy behind the counter as to why he couldn't accept my package he said come back at 1, when I told him it was not convenient for me to return and that I would like to take care of this right now because I'm here, he said come back at 1, ridiculous. read more

But I ship almost every day from this UPS store and Mike has helped me so much over the years. He is so knowledgeable, he has saved me literally thousands of dollars in shipping costs with his advice on how to pack and ship things. Have gone in quite a few times, and Michael has always been nothing but friendly and full of hustle to help get packages out. Don't feel like I have much to add to what's been said already - this morning I made the mistake of borrowing the scissors at the front desk (in the receptacle clearly designated for customer use) without asking first and got an earful. Between getting charged for tape, the minuscule parking lot, and the weird attitude I've received the times I've been here, this was my last visit. Drove to the Sawtelle location, had great service. Not coming back here, even though it's way more convenient for me than every other location. I suppose if you show up with your box all 100% ready to go and don't do anything random to earn the ire of the owner, this place gets the job done. Myself, I'm not always organized, so I appreciate the stores that can help me out. Oh, and the Sawtelle location didn't charge me $1 for a piece of tape. read more

2 girls were working the counter when I went in on a Saturday so no problem with service. I needed a 1 pound (or so) package shipped to Ohio and they said $12+ dollars by Monday. I said, I'll just take the slowest option and she said that is... Next Monday. Ha! I left and went to the shit post office nearby, it was only half the price for a priority package! Yikes! So it appears I'm not the only one who's had less than satisfactory customer service from this store! It started off pleasantly enough with no incident...but we hadn't walked in yet, but once my young son and I set foot on that gray carpet tile, there was an eerie silence from the 3 or so customers huddled together along one small Formica'd island of fear, eyes darting up to me as if to say 'it's too late for us...we're in mid-process....take your kid and save yourselves'. I walked over to the checking area and asked a nice-enough assistant that I was unable to print my return label at home and if I could send the PDF straight to them, she said of-course and I was like 'Yay! This place is so close by and convenient, I'll come here from now on!' {on hindsight? My response is more HAH, screw that! than 'Yay!'}. I found it weird that she wouldn't spell the email address to me so I could type it in my iPhone, but instead point to the minuscule writing on some sort of business card...um, ok. Then this delightful, and much-yelped MICHAEL P. WILLIAMS made an appearance from the behind the doorway, he brushed passed me and without any eye contact, hammered 'BOXES OFF THE COUNTER!', I looked around...was he talking to me? Me with my box...a shipping box?? I looked at the assistant who, embarrassed, asked me if I could move my box to the main counter. I moved myself and my box to Fear Island and stood there, waiting to be summoned again by this oh-so-dear Mr Williams. My label printed and lo and behold, he wanted to charge me $2.50 for a simple black and white printout ..'WITH TAX' he sparkly added. I questioned him about the costly sum and he spluttered 'WELL IF YOU DON'T WANT IT THEN I'LL TAKE IT, GIVE IT HERE!' pretending to reach out and take it from my hand. Wow, what tone and attitude! I said that'll go ahead and buy the copy and if there was any tape or do I have to buy that for $8 but the poor assistant interjected that she'll put it on the box free of charge. She was nice enough, even giving my restless 2 year old a balloon to entertain him but seriously Mr. Williams, if you think YOU'RE having a bad day, try multiplying that by 50 and adding a terrible 2's child in tantrum mode into the mix. There are people out there having a much worse day but handle it with much more decorum and awareness as to not make others feel belittled or disrespected....or just downright crappy. Grow up, be a worthy man, a business man and part of this cool Mar Vista community of small business owners or, really, just take YOUR business elsewhere. read more

I have to agree with the below reviews that I had an absolutely horrific interaction with the manager and will never do business at this store again. I shipped several packages from this location, and one of them was lost. Instead of even taking the time to look up the tracking number, he accused me of lying and proceeded to hang up on me. Despite all the negative reviews by overly sensitive customers, I think Mike is a good guy. He spends time with each customer ensuring that they get what they need. While he may deal out some reprimands, I would choose honest and candid businessperson over a friendly fraud, especially when shipping and receiving important parcels. I have been bearing with this rude UPS store owner, Mike Williams, for many times. Tolerance of his rude behaviors definitely does not make the service any better, only make it worse. In my recent visit, he crossed the line way too much, and I will never go to this store again ever. In my previous visits, he usually yelled at people out of nowhere; he likes to command costumers, such as yelling at customers to stand way behind the line, which is not very clearly marked, btw. His bad jokes are not funny at all and very intrusive. Every time I visited the store, he spoke rudely and made me feel that I was doing some wrong and I was to be blamed. In this recent visit, the other staff helped me take a passport photo, and yet the photo print-out did not meet the requirements of passport photo, and the figure size in the photo was not correct. I tried to explain to this staff, and this Mike Williams stepped in and yelled that this was the only passport photo they provide and they would not retake the photo. He kept yelling and would not even let me explain. I wanted to explain and to show him the requirements and sample passport photo on the official website. He would not listen, and kept yelling at me. Long story short, he chased me out of the store in the end. I have never had any experience even close to this one. I cannot even communicate with him because he refuses to listen. He seems to be incapable of working in the service industry. read more

I totally recommend this store! I am so surprised by the rating. I have lived nearby for almost 11 years. I have almost always been helped by Mike, occasionally by a couple of women who also work there. I have always received the help i needed. If there isn't a line, I'm in and out very quickly, And even when there is a line, the people there can only work so fast, especially if a customer is not prepared. Mike has always been polite and professional with me, and the other customers who have happened to be in the store at the same time. He's also got a stash of milk bones behind The counter for the dogs who frequent the store with their owners. My dog likes Mike too. I question who these terrible reviews are from. Perhaps competitors. Or perhaps, given the current climate, people who just don't like successful businesses owned by people of color. .? I hate to be so cynical, but it's hard for me to believe that so many have had such a bad experience. read more

Mike and his team are my favorite! I am a house call veterinarian that uses UPS to send a lot of samples to my laboratory, so what I'm shipping on a regular basis is pretty much "precious cargo". I stop in almost on a daily basis. I trust this UPS completely, and everything has always been delivered perfectly, and with efficiency. I also wanted to pop on here on yelp, because I'm seeing Mike and his team deal with a lot of abusive customers that seem to be the embodiment of 2020 itself. Folks trying to pack into this tiny store instead of waiting outdoors in a courteous way for the line to go down a bit like the sign outside says, or trying to walk in without masks. People are really nuts these days, and they always seem to flock to yelp for the most ridiculous reasons. These guys are really hustling, working extremely hard, are incredibly efficient, and have always done an AMAZING job. They are continuing with their high standards of service even since Covid started. Somehow Mike and his team always seem to always maintain their sense of humor and kindness too. I've never been spoken to so disrespectfully by someone in a customer service position, he went as far as to actually cuss at me during his temper tantrum. A poor Yelp review only goes so far, but if corporate gets enough official complaints then maybe there can finally be some accountability. I have a business and ship out products from this UPS location almost on a biweekly basis. I have had nothing but good experiences with the franchisee Michael. He has always been kind and patient with me. I have witnessed many customers be rude to the staff, and watched them be nothing but professional. This is a great store and great service. We have had repeated problems with the post office getting our mail to us. Mike is always up beat. They also do a great job at promptly forwarding our mail when we are traveling. We began using this place for our mail back when it was Mail Boxes Etc. back in the late 90's. This is by far the best UPS Store I have used across 3 or 4 states. It's my "go-to" UPS shipping center, I have returned to it many times, Mike consistently asks about me and my family, and offers to go the extra mile be it track a package, box something, and more. He cares about his customers and guests, including their safety during Covid-19. Surprised and sorry to see some of the reviews here, I have never experienced that myself once in the past 5-7 years of using his store nor have I witnessed it. He treats every person with respect, consideration, and concern. He knows me and once I was standing out of line, and he considerately asked me to move - that was my fault since I was messaging on my phone. Every person I have recommended this store to has echoed a similar experience. I encourage you try it yourself and see. I would have to say over the years I have shipped north of 100 packages from this store and never once had an issue. UPS has gotten WAY MORE of my business with Mike than without. Customer for Life! Just as everyone has said, the male bald attendant is beyond rude, impatient, and just a real nasty human being.
