I recently moved and sent a number of odd sized items to family out of state. Some were really challenging to package. One table they had to take apart. Dennis and his crew handled it all with great care with an eye on cost. I would just leave the items at the desk and in a few days he would call with the various options for shipping. Everything arrived in perfect condition. It was stressful enough to move, but this was one thing that I didn't have to worry about. Avoid. Never coming here again. Previously: slow, unhelpful, my wife got charged for something she didn't need without being asked, etc. Last straw was coming in to use the (expensive!) notary, needing to print a one-page document to notarize. Was told to "use the computer" to print, which costs a minimum of $2.50. When asked about a more reasonable alternative, the employees shrugged with a complete "eff you" attitude. No manager on duty, "you can come see him at 5". Went to Postal Annex, was helped with a smile, $15 notary service, and they printed the document for me no questions asked. read more

Instead of helping the fast-working United States Postal Service employee who was dropping off mail there, the UPS employee (who's very slow!) spent his time complaining at him and talking down rather than helping his own queue of UPS customers. The UPS employees also treated customers very rudely; they're apparently more concerned about their own agendas, which excluded helping their own customers. Also, very cramped and crowded store -- the UPS employees were unable to handle a normal workload and there were boxes littered everywhere on the floor, presumably these were all meant to be shipped out yet I feel it's easy for them to mess up and keep a box for a long time without even noticing. I'm going to the Castro Street UPS store from now on -- the service there is lightning quick and genuinely helpful! read more

We purchased a P.O. Box for our business. My experience was positive. All-in-all a good place to do business. In some cases, yes, I think there could be better training for some of the employees, especially the younger ones with less experience working with the public. Side Note... By the way, when I happened to look at the reviews for the Castro store, it turns out they have a mix of bad and good reviews. I have been to the Castro store at least five or more times in the past two years, and my experiences have all been good. So, it's interesting that some of the bad reviews for this Showers store say they had good experience at Castro. But you look at the Castro reviews on Yelp, and you might not expect it to be any better. I think it's just that when you have a bad experience, you want to complain; and when it's a good experience, you have no incentive to write a review. Who knows, but I'm glad this store is so convenient, and so far, it's all been mostly good. Back to my review... The "Good" -- The price is much lower than the one on Castro. (I think Castro is such a prime location, being downtown near all those businesses and homes, they can charge more.) -- It gives us the advantage over the U.S. Post Office because we get a physical address that does not mention the words "PO Box". -- For my business, the one on Showers is a great location, close to our place of business and home. The parking is never a problem since it shares the same huge parking lot as Walmart and Kohl's. -- Convenient extra services like Notary Public. -- Great hours, open until 7pm weekdays, and until 5pm on Saturday. -- The woman who served me, Jennifer, was friendly and helpful. The "Bad" -- When I called the next day, the woman who helped me was again friendly and helpful, but she did not know what zip+4 was. And then, she was not able to find the correct zip+4 number for the Showers location. (This is an example where employee training is needed.) So, I Spoke to the Owner... It was at that time that I decided to look up the zip+4 online, to find it myself, and I noticed all the bad reviews for this store on Yelp. I ended up calling the Corporate office to find out what was going on. They apologized and said they would have someone call me. In less than an hour, the store owner called me. (His name is Dennis Ro.) He was friendly and professional. We talked for quite a while, about fifteen minutes, and discussed what it was like to run the business. He thanked me and said he appreciated my comments and that he would be working on solutions to some of the issues. read more

I rented a PO box from this store 2 months ago and explained I would be traveling overseas and would periodically need my mail shipped to me. I called to make this request and was told they would not accept a request to forward my mail via the phone. Then they sent me PDF form to fill out print and sent to them with my request. I explained I am not carrying a printer to manually fill out then mail the form back to them. They have accepted my credit card information but now are confused how to process the card or how to address an international package. I had no idea of the problems I would create expecting them to provide the service I signed a contract to receive. Now I have the added expense of having my attorney review my contract to determine if they can legally confiscate my mail. My account has no past due balance and is 'paid in full'. They honestly seem to not understand the process of forwarding mail. They have however taken my credit card information. This UPS store is a SCAM their process is simply to take our money an nothing else. read more

Service here is slow, but not any worse than at the USPS. I wish that there was a UPS drop box outside, though. I don't come here very often because I often want to just send off a prepaid package. Having to deal with making sure the store is open for that kind of service is too much of a pain. I can do the same thing with USPS and drop my package in a blue box. Also, what is the deal with charging for box taping? Come on! It's called customer service. If you make me feel taken care of, I'm MUCH more likely to want to be a return customer. I know tape costs money and all, but better put out a little for tape and keep customers coming in the door. Am I right? Additionally, I wish that this store sold some simple products such as birthday cards. I guess that my general experience here is that the customer does not feel welcomed. WOW... talk about the worst service ever. The old man behind the counter wanted absolutely nothing to do with me and helped 3 customers in-between "attempting" to help find the right size box for my item. Not only that, but when he finally had no one else in the store and was forced to focus on my things, he sized my item wrong and was telling me no box would work for it because he wanted it to fit PERFECTLY inside--even though it needed to be bubble wrapped still. I can't believe I sat there as long as I did. Once I realized how much I had been repeating myself and explaining that it needed to be bubble wrapped, I high-tailed it out of there. Sadly, I too went to the same notary mentioned in an earlier review... the attitude was incredible... so condescending... and in a recession too! CLEARLY, she's not the owner. I've been in there on another occasion and had the same woman "help" me ship 5 boxes. I specifically asked for everything to be packed in 6 small boxes - since the item was heavy and I was concerned the person receiving it would have difficulty handling a box that was both heavy and bulky. She rolled her eyes at me and said I've been doing this for X years and I can get it into 5 boxes. My reply was that's nice, but I'd like it in SIX boxes. Serious attitude. I then wanted to watch her pack the boxes - which has been my experience at every other UPS store I've visited - she refused. She could tell I was in a rush and damn it she was going to pack my stuff in 5 boxes. I finally gave in and left... turns out the woman ended up shipping in FIVE boxes after all. That irritated me to no end especially since I paid several hundred dollars for the shipping. From what I can tell, there's this Korean couple that owns the place and they seem very nice and helpful when I've had a few brief interactions with them. But the older, woman they have manning the front counter the majority of the time is just terrible. I won't go there again (shouldn't have gone there the 2nd time, but they were the closest location and I was in a rush). I will gladly drive 5 - 10 minutes further and pay twice as much to avoid being in the presence of someone who excudes such attitude and negative you feel like you'd better run before it's contagious. Geez... get a clue. We're in a recession! If you can't be nice to your customers, at least try to avoid treating them like they are inconvenience your day by giving you money. Amazing. Seriously. Some businesses do not deserve to stay in business. This is one of them. I can not say enough bad things about my experience and I almost never right bad reviews.... so I'm generally easy to please, so it's really bad. The staff here is very very nice! Love coming in to see them. They are very busy sometimes so don't always have time for pleasantries, but always as fast as they can be. If people are complaining about $1 to tape a box maybe they should come prepared with their boxes taped. Would you put box in the regular mail not taped up??? Then why would you do it here??? May not get best in class service but the long-haired white guy definitely knows how to do his job. I've been to the 3 closest UPS Stores and this one is my favorite because of this guy. I went to the store to send a box to South America. The lady working there complains that I have friends with me and the store is looking too crowded because of my friends. The guy working there proceeds to make comments about how my box was going to get stolen anyway...because I was sending to south America! He says: "Mexico is the worst, then comes South America. I don't know what is wrong with those latin countries, people just steal everything we send there!" I get upset, because I find his comments racist and out of place, so I call the owner, who was equally rude! Nobody in that store is capable of interacting with other humans. read more

The worst UPS ever. I am not sure how UPS the company compensates individual franchisees for handling pre-paid packages but nickel-and-diming your customers isn't the way to maintain a long-term relationship. I had re-used a padded envelope with a Amazon's pre-paid label. All I needed was to seal the package. I was told that they wanted to charge me $1 if they do the taping. I said, "Do you have tape I could just use myself?" The clerk replied, "Sure, you can buy the tape from us". This is shocking as this is NOT the experience at any other UPS stores I've gone to. Worst customer experience ever. I tried sending a package of cookies to my family. Usually, USPS takes 2 days to send mail between SF and LA - UPS said it would take 4. Three business days after the scheduled date, the package didn't arrive. I called the store to figure out what happened, and after a rude conversation their employee had me call a 1800 UPS number for further investigation. Upon calling 1800 UPS, they said only the original store had the authority to fix the package! I call the store again. First, the employee tells me to call back early next day, because he didn't know what to do. I ask for a manager or another employee who might. The employee says the manager is busy. I press him further, and he finally asks for help. He then comes back, and says, "to do anything, I need $15." In the end, I spent $20 to send my cookies nowhere. read more

I had to drop off 24 gifts that shipped to 6 families in Bakersfield. It took the poor girl almost an hour to help us organize the gifts and find boxes to accommodate every gift. Dulce helped us with a smile on her face and was so courteous despite the work it took. I will always use this store for my shipping needs. The cost is worth it for the service you get. read more

UPS is Amazon's authorized shipper, and I am glad they are. Dani was awesome and helped me out tremendously as we could have been out $1100! She combed over 260 transactions to find our return and sent us the information for us to show Amazon that they received our package. This was a total nightmare as I had returned the item on October 25th to Amazon and to this day they have not refunded the account. I could not locate my return slip and I am so glad Dani was able to send us all that information. After numerous contacts with Amazon they kept giving us the runaround and said that we would receive the refund in 2-4 days. Today when I tried to dispute the transaction on the credit card, Amazon deleted the information that they had ever received the item, and said we could return the item. How can we return something we already returned? Sure enough, I called UPS and Dani answered. She was so helpful, caring and concerned about what happened. She resolved the problem in speedy time, and saved me from a heart attack. Thank you to this UPS store for hiring such a wonderful employee and providing wonderful customer service! read more

The one star is for the nice lady working there. Otherwise I would give them zero stars. I went for passport photos. They have a HAND HELD camera! Are you kidding me? I told her the photos looked blurry to me so she took a second set free of charge. They still looked blurry, but they are a passport photo place and that is their camera set-up so I figured it must be fine, right? WRONG! I sent the photos in with my passport application and they were rejected as 'unclear'! I hope I can get my $ back. read more

I just left this place! If you need a test of your patience and have LOTS of time to wait, then this is the place for you! All I wanted to do was mail something. I could have gone to the post office on castro but this place was a more convenient location. I thought the UPS store meant faster service. I was even willing to pay a little more to not go to the post office. There was only one girl at the counter. I asked if there was someone else to help and she said she was at lunch at this was at 1:30. There was a long line behind me and I was next but I decided to leave after waiting 25 minutes. I decided they do not deserve my business. I also notice other people leaving before I did. It would have been nice if the girl (Sorry I never got her name) to acknowledged the long wait as a courtesy. Instead she did not make any eye contact with any of us in line as if we didn't exist. I find this to be extremely rude. I was always taught working at a store, that customers are like guests. You have to at least say hello and acknowledge them. I guess they don't need the business. I asked the girl to give me the card of the owner. He will be sure to hear from me soon. I live in Mountain View and I believe in supporting small businesses but not if they don't care about customer service. It looks like I'm not alone in this 1 star review. I hope another business who care about their customers will replace this one. Because as far as I can see they really are not hear to serve the community or want to make money for that matter. read more

I wish there is a Zero star for them. I was shocked to learn today that they closed my mail box after I rented from them 1.5 years. Yesterday I went there and got someone else mail. Also I checked my Amazon orders, couple of them were returned. I called them today and I was told my mail box was closed one month ago and rented to someone else! This is totally horrible! The lady she said she can give me another mail box and transfer my mail there! I said no, you can not do that since all my checks and company return address as well as corprate package have been using MY mail box which as closed by them without any reason! Horrible experience! Stay away! Drive further to another UPS store! I sent an urgent international package and paid extra to have the package arrive before the weekend. I declared there were 5 items in the package, but apparently, the staff was too lazy to put the number 5 in the computer. As a result, my package was delayed in customs, and UPS missed the delivery schedule. Not only was the package late, UPS also changed the declared value of the package. I declared the value of the package as $60, but I later discover that the receipt says $120. So that the UPS store can charge more for it? Don't waste your money and time! Stay away! read more

I had a great service at this location for 6 years. However, in 2013 it went rapidly downhill - foul up after foul up until it became totally intolerable and I could no longer rely on the service. Multiple complaints got multiple excuses and never a solution. Delayed mail, lost packages, double billing (several times) etc. etc. Sad. read more

On a Thursday, pa 10/27 paid $78.00 for OVERNIGHT service to Arroyo Grande, Ca. FOUR days later, it was delivered, after going through Oakland, Sunnyvale, Santa Maria, then Arroyo Grande. Lousy customer service and they really could care less IF the package ever makes it. BBB is next, already filed a complaint with UPS corporate. read more
