I've heard great things about this spot- and we decided to give it a try for date night before our movie at the Page Theater down the road. I was expecting a little more so our experience fell a tad short. I just thought it would blow me away but it's just not quite there. I was, however, really impressed with the amount of variety on the menu from local brews, local wines, and some European types! Reds, whites, rose, ports, dessert wines...YOU NAME IT! The wine was tasty, I opted for a sweeter white wine from VA, and my bf opted for a dryer red wine from VA. We slurped it down! The food was underwhelming. I don't believe it's prepared in-house. The flatbread we ordered had some bland chicken and was missing some color and seasoning. The fried pickles seemed frozen and the jalapeño poppers were nothing to get excited about. However, the local jam they served with the poppers made a BIG difference! I had never tried such a combo and that was pretty yummy!! I am a fan! This is a cute Wine store with huge upstairs and downstairs. They have 3 flatbread options, 2 charcuterie boards and a soup option for food. They have about 30 bottles to choose from, and you can pick them up to-go in the the front store area as well as some cute knick knacks and some award winning honey. The server was wonderful! She helped our huge party of 9 people as we enjoyed 2 wine bottles and various wine by the glass and beer. I do want to mentioned I'd wish they had MORE beer options, especially local beer for to-go. I was hoping to pick up something for my bf on our girls trip. The interior looked like a inside looking in french style bistro with a exterior porch overhand trimming the serving area and kitchen leading towards the restrooms. I would also suggest possibly expanding the bathrooms as there was 1 for women and 1 for men with a huge dinning area. I love this spot . For East coast city folks to come to a small town like luray and find a place for late dinner ... this spot was great..... Wines were soo very well curated as well as the cheese. I'm still trying to find where I can get rosemary manchego. If you don't get to do wine tastings in the regional wineries nearby, this spot is definitely great to try the local wines. Also I will say I love that when I go out for dinner at 9 pm ish this place wasn't very busy. I think luray people don't stay out very late , but I will say they are missing out. I went for dinner one evening and the special was an open face turkey sandwich with all the fixings which I thought would be delicious. However, I was very disappointed because it was sliced deli turkey and the fixings were all from a can, nothing was made fresh. Very disappointing because I was expecting it to be awesome for the price and from what I had heard around town. It was very slow which should've been a clue but I ordered nonetheless. The table wasn't clean nor were the salt and pepper shakers which should've been another clue. Needless to say, I would not return to have dinner because if I want that kind of dinner I can buy the deli turkey and just open the can foods at home to eat and save the money. read more

Stopped here for dinner after a hike in Shenandoah. The food comes in generous portions that are great for sharing and is very affordable. They have a lot of wine options, including local VA wines. It is definitely more of a wine bar than restaurant - while the food is good it seems to be mostly from the store and not fully prepared in house. Would recommend! read more

The place is is lovely and has a lot of potential. Service was fine. We ordered a cheese board, a burger, salad, and the chicken tenders. The burger was juicy and well-seasoned. The broccoli that we subbed out for the fries was completely unseasoned (a little salt and a drizzle of olive oil would go a long way). The cheeseboard had several different cheeses and meats--nothing special or interesting, but all fine. The crackers were boring, white crackers. It was screaming for some honey or jam and some decent/interesting crackers. The chicken tenders were fine but the fries were unseasoned. The salad (a boring house salad) came with a packet of Kraft salad dressing. A basic homemade dressing is really a minimal requirement if you're not MacDonald's. They could also use some more interesting salad or veggie options on the menu. The well-stocked bathroom was a nice touch. read more

The Valley Cork is a very popular dining spot, so you can expect to leave your name at the door if you arrive right at dinner time. That's okay, they are right across the street from a brewery and an ice cream shop if you want to wait somewhere until you're called. The space is gorgeously laid out, with lots of tables and couches for seating. The main selling point is the huge wine, beer, and cocktail list. This is the perfect place to go to enjoy some fine drinking. Food is secondary here, although it's not really fair to ding a place for food after covid. They offer Flatbreads on soft white dough, they have Cheese Curds (which are fried, btw,) and we also got some Waffle Fries for the table. All dipping sauces including ketchup come in plastic disposable containers. My wife ordered a salad with chicken and we were impressed by how large it was. So enjoy the great service while you sip some great drinks while you soak up the great atmosphere, and you may as well nibble some food while you're there. read more

Quickly stopped at Valley Cork for wine and appetizers after visiting the Luray Caverns! In what appeared to be a really small town with that singular tourist attraction, this was a gem of a find!! The atmosphere was nice, but the food was awful. I had the house special of fried pork with Mac and cheese, and broccoli. There was no taste and everything were under seasoned. Me and my friends went here to get food and wine, the waiter who greeted us did not even seat us to a table, he pointed where to go and didn't even give us menus. It took a few minutes before one of us decided to walk up and get us our own menus with several workers watching us grab menus ourselves. This place is great! The service, the food, the wine, the atmosphere. It's perfect! My husband and I went here twice while we visited Luray for our anniversary weekend because we loved it so much. Anyway, we've never had charcuterie before, so we got the Lefty charcuterie board the first night there. First of all, if you have not had charcuterie before, treat yourself for once in your life! But honestly, I'm nervous to try any other charcuterie after having it for the first time here--I'm afraid that the Valley Cork may have ruined me for any other charcuterie since it was so God! Dang! Good! Neither me or my husband have had pâté before (wow, look how classy those accent marks look), but I'll let you know right now--truffle pâté is smoky and savory and simply divine, darling! On what seemed to be the quietest Sunday night in Luray, we walked from the Mimslyn Inn and attempted to get a table for two at Moonshadows. We failed miserably and bemoaned our lack of reservation making as we walked down the hill...right up to the point when we reached The Valley Cork. Yay wine!! We walked through the doors into a super cute and airy wine bar. We easily found two seats at the bar at 6pm and perused the menus. Romeo ordered a red to start but I was in the mood for something light and sweet. I asked the wine enthusiast which of two Moscato wines he recommended and I ended up with a Moscato D'Asti. It sparkled ever so lightly. Plus, it was sweet and cold and extremely light. We ordered a cheese and meat plate to share and continued ordering glasses of wine as the place filled up. In the end, we ordered the full bottle of Moscato and finished it while joking with fellow patrons. If we're ever in Luray again, we're definitely returning to The Valley Cork. We had a relaxing evening of conversation and good food & wine all amidst a very laid-back yet trendy environment. read more

Food: only appetizers, do not go if you're hungry or if you want chic tapas...it's literally stuff you could scrounge from your fridge. They serve appetizers with single serve to-go packets from Costco for 'dipping,' and the carrots with the hummus side were white(!) and that means not good. Ugh. But it's amazing what you'll eat when you're hungry and afraid they'll spit in your food if you send it back. The BlackBerry 'Sangria' was served in a wine glass (approx a 9oz pour. The Valley Cork is very charming. It's situated in downtown Luray and they have wonderful wait staff and a very good ambience. I really like the vibe of the restaurant. It's clean, orderly, and unique. I'm not a heavy drinker, so I really can't speak on what it's most known for in terms of alcohol. However, I always enjoy the food. Their menu is very limited so you're not going to get a lot of options at all. it is pricey. I find their salad bar to be a really good bang for the buck, and they often do specials that allow for some variety they could expand their menu and offer more, but they're probably doing what is financially sound for them. read more

Visited the area for a girls weekend. Enjoyed the ambiance - was seated in the comfy couch area. The waitstaff was short but super speedy and attentive. We trialed Virginia wines but enjoyed our old fashions more. The charcuterie plates were very popular and we enjoyed ours - the Brie and kielbasa type sausage were my favorite. We stopped in last month (mid October) on the recommendation of our hosts at the marvelous Shadow Mountain Escape, and we were not disappointed. The former early 20th century retail store has been transformed into a rustic wine bar, and the staff is engaged and welcoming. We had a glass of wine (excellent) and a regional ale (also good) as well as a charcuterie platter, which was elegantly presented, delicious and reasonably priced. We visit Luray once a year, so we'll definitely be back to visit the Valley Cork. read more
