This was a great day with our family. The waitress Kaitlin was friendly and kind to the 10 of us right from the beginning. The chicken wings were amazing and hamburgers were all done right, and our beer was chilled perfect. My children are asking when can we go back what day is Kaitlin there. Stopped in for breakfast on Saturday the 13th of August at around 9:00AM. The pub was nice and cool, which is great because this heat-wave stinks. I really wanted to try their French Onion Soup, but it was to early in the day. Breakfast was great! French toast was great, as were the eggs. No complaints about the bacon. Pancakes, chocolate chip, were also great. Down-side, I very much dislike margarine, and that's what they give you with the French toast. I like real butter. I do not care about saturated fat. Also, the coffee mug was over-filled, no room for cream. Both issues were non-issues and I could have asked for butter and dumped some of my coffee out, but I was to hungry and to thirsty. Had our first experience here. We were there for lunch. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak. My guest ordered the Grilled Cheese, she chose swiss. Both came with fries, our choice. My Philly was good. A little too salty and oily. Nothing like the original from Philly PA. But good enough. The Grilled Cheese was also OK. The fries were also a little too oily and not salted enough. The waiter was Great! Very friendly and accommodating. The dinning area is separated from the bar area, so you can choose were to sit. there are many TVs for your entertainment, or distraction as you choose. They offer many specials from prix fixe menu, specialty drinks and game night deals. Overall a nice place to spend a few hours!! One note, If you park on Main St, Montauk Hwy, you need to pay for parking. I did not know that and got my first parking ticket ever in my life! We live close by and sometimes come here when it's super late at night. The menu always surprises me--it's pretty darn amazing for a sports bar, but what I really enjoy about it is that where else can you drop by with a toddler, an infant, and your husband 1am in the morning when you're starving? And be seated and not thrown dirty looks by other patrons because by golly, they have a section for sit down seating that's separate from the bar area. I like their sliders, any which one. All of them. And the pretzel, lots of mustard and nacho cheese please. Their kids mac and cheese is also spiked with nacho cheese, so naturally, me and my husband are sneaking bites while our kids aren't looking. Their wings are awesome as is their french onion soup (which was something I ordered here constantly when I was pregnant.) Too bad they got rid of their jalapeno poppers though. I do love their fried pickles but I have to watch my salt intake... Haven't had a server I didn't like there, so definitely can't complain on that. It gets crowded late on Fridays and Saturdays now that Patchogue's a hotspot, but I avoid those times anyway. Parking on the street is a bit of a pain because they like to charge during odd hours/peak hours, but that's not VIP's fault. All in all, my first choice for american bar food in the area. read more

We recently visited this establishment and had a bad experience. Today is Thursday so on Wednesday's they have some type of wing night special. Well we visited there for lunch today and was served reheated bone on chicken wings. Usually the wings are great but today the day after the pubs wing night, I was served reheated 1/2 cold 1/2 warm obviously microwaved garbage from the night before. You can not Charge $30 for 25 wings and serve last nights goods. My families lunch burgers were ok as well as the bread dip and soups all ok but the wings were way off from what we usually get there. I guess stay away from wings for lunch the day after wing night :( read more

This used to be our favorite place for breakfast...eight years ago. We hadn't been in quite a while and decided to go today. And now I'm wondering why they even bother with breakfast anymore. We got there at 9:05 (they open at 9:00) and absolutely nothing was ready. One of the servers was still taking chairs off tables and the table she gave us had something sticky all over one of the seats. When we asked for coffee at 9:15, it was "still brewing." Then she brought the coffee to the table with curdled cream. She claimed it was just that they "mix their own half n half and sometimes it separates" but it smelled awful. Anyway, she fixed it and we ordered, still giving it all a chance. My husband's order came out pretty promptly and he politely waited for the rest of our food to arrive before beginning to eat. My youngest daughter and I got our meals about 5 mins later (the place was not busy). Meanwhile my oldest daughter had to wait another 10 mins after that for her food--which was pancakes! So there was 15 minutes between when the first and last meal were brought to our table. The food was alright but nothing we'd go back for. Except my older daughter loved the pancakes. Her dad makes them better though so I think VIP is off the list. read more

Let me start by saying I have been here a lot in the past and usually have fairly good experiences. I've come here a lot later at night with my family (around 9-10) and also a few times for earlier dinner. I just left here tonight and everyone at my table was left extremely dissatisfied. First things first, some of their staff definitely needs to be retrained. We got attitudes from multiple staff including a food runner and a waitress. The hostess also wasn't very friendly. We needed to wait 10 minutes for a table to be set up but didn't see anyone moving to do anything despite the fact that it wasn't even busy. To top it off, there was a hair laying across my plate and the food runner was like "it's not even touching the food".... as it's laying across the wings. No apology or anything. My father also inquired about poker night however the food runner was like uh yeah poker night it's a $5 prize and didn't offer any further information despite my father's interest, he just walked away. I will say our waiter was very sweet and polite however my entire table was dissatisfied with the rest of the service. As my father said, not one person smiled and it seemed like nobody wanted to be there. read more

Decently priced for a good amount of food; however, they charged for every single thing. I ordered the cheeseburger and it doesn't come with lettuce, tomatoes or onions which I found out when the food arrived. I asked for them and found out later that it costs $1.50... they also charged for ranch which is surprising at a sit down restaurant. Service is often confused and slow, but VERY friendly, so you kind of want to cut them some slack.... but the food always comes out hot, so I think a lot of the issue might be the kitchen. Food is good, comfort food. VERY good cheese steak, and solid wings, apps, and burgers. Avoid late nights, as the crowd can get a bit immature, loud, unruly, and overly "early-20s" (Ok, so I'm an old man now... get off my yard!) For BREAKFAST though - 4 stars. The menu is varied and solid, and specials are often unusual and quite "special". The quality and variety is at least as good (if not a little better, I think) than the overly-crowded TOAST a block away. I went there this past Saturday night,(against my will of course) for a friend's birthday and had a very good time! I went there twice and both times I was ignored. The last time was on a weekday around 3-ish and the bar was packed. I took a seat at a little table which had 3 seats coming off of a wall behind the bar. The server was working all tables...do you think she would consider looking over at where I was sitting, since there were 3 seats there? There was 2 guys sitting at the bar in front of me, no drinks in front of them, wasting time and space just staring off at ::space:: I timed it and went up to a 1/2 hour with no one looking my way. Sorry idiots; you were the ones that lost out on almost $30.00 from me alone and had your chance to redeem yourself to have me spread a good word about your pub. I love this place!! My first time going to V.I.P. and I must say they delivered. Went for Football Sunday and it was packed with people. The hype about this place lived up to the talk for me. Got in and the hostess was very nice, only waited 20 minutes for a table, then we got a corner booth. The waitress, Tracey, was excellent. Came to the table, glasses alway full and talked to us, you couldn't ask for more. A lady came around later and offered free beer and a photo! This place must do great business. To start we got wings and it was buy one get one free. The wings were ok, but not the best. Not a lot of soda selection for the none drinker, but that's expected from a sports bar. But the icing on the cake for me was the "Meathead" cheeseburger!! 12oz of beef stuffed with bacon, mushrooms, and onions!!! If you need to know what true love is get this burger! It is the mother of all burgers!! "One burger to rule them all" type taste! Sorry I digress, you may ask then why did I give this sports bar 3 stars instead of 4 or even 5, well it's simple really. The Manager was rude. Many people go out on Sunday to watch there sports team play. That's the main reason I went to watch the Giants dominant the Buffalo Bills. The Manager only put the game on one TV in our section, plus the TV she put the game on had the menu bar across the screen so you couldn't see the score! I asked 3 employees to add more Giants games on other TVs and they wanted to, but the manager told them "no" I went to her myself and asked and again she gave me some generic excuse and sent me on my way. My brother had to change his seat to watch the game, so he decided to ask one more time. The bus boy was great and went to add one more TV. He went to the Manager and she walked away frustrated he even asked her. A couple people left the area and didn't understand why the New York Giants could not be on more then one TV. I watch Big Blue win and left feeling cheated of my experience. No doubt I will be there again for the burgers and great service, however next time I spend my Sunday watching the Giants make it to the Playoffs, it will be at Rudi's on 112. We were out taking care of a few errands and looking for someplace to have a late lunch. We were down in the Patchogue and decided to try The Village Idiot Pub. My wife loved the seating that was next to the outside, so it felt like sitting outside while we were still inside. (which kept me out of the sun and happy) We had a very friendly waitress named Ashley who did a great job, food was good, had some wings and burgers. ****Update**** We have returned for a few visits after enjoying our first. Unfortunately the follow up visits were not as good. I did not enjoy some of the other Menu items, cheesesteak was not a winner and on out last visit, they brought our wings with the dinner. We ordered them 15 minutes before the other food, but somehow that still got screwed up. To finish up the bad experience, the burger that I ordered medium rare, was so over cooked that I could not eat it and it did not even have the bacon I ordered. Overall the staff is very nice, the food is just OK and the kitchen can not seem to get anything correct when the place is busy. Very disappointed, thought we found a new regular spot but one good experience is not balancing out a few bad ones. read more

Always changing their taps, fresh atmosphere, and the food is off the chain. I have been here numerous times and no matter who I get I'm greeted with a smile. If you like sports, this is the place to be. I'm a big Ranger fan and they have the "Rangers VIP Party" every away game. Drink specials, wing discounts, and raffles (including a ranger jersey) Bottom line, it's a great place no matter what your age is. You don't get the fist pumpers, or the under agers. Was here this past Saturday night after going to the Blue Point parking lot party for a bite to eat. We were seated instantly (as compared to a 1-2 hour wait at Brickhouse), and drinks were brought over fast. My husband and I split the sampler and everything on it was great. I really enjoyed the pickle chips as they were sliced thin and were piping hot. I had the American Chicken sandwich for dinner which was good but nothing to write home about. If you want to pick at appetizers this place is good for it with their long list of options. Blue cheese was gross that came with boneless wings. The chicken was great, perfectly crispy if you ask me. Mac and cheese was tasty, and fried pickle chips. We went here for Breakfest with Santa yesterday. We made our reservation three weeks ago and they even called to verify. We had our 7 & 4 year old granddaughters with us and their parents. We get to the restaurant and they lead us to a table in the back of the restaurant out of the main room next to the swing doors of the kitchen. We could not believe they even set up a table back there. No view of the restaurant where Santa was sitting. The manager was clueless trying to defend this table. I wish the owner was there as it was embarrassing to even set up a table by the kitchen. And we asked her about the breakfast on the weekends and she said we would love it. It sounded great so we will try it out. We live in Centereach but we're still going back to this place and give Centereach sometime to break in. Seen mix reviews. But this young lady sold us.
