Asked for a pressed and hot panini with mozzarella, tomato & basil to go. Received a soggy, cold, and inedible sandwich that I had to throw out, I even tried to soak up the bread with napkins and it all just fell apart. Will not be returning. Sandwich came in a tin container in a brown bag which leaked all over my entire purse. There had to be at least a cup of mozzarella water everywhere. The sandwich itself was sitting in so much of the water inside the tin (not sure how that much was even left since everything in my purse got destroyed). I understand maybe I shouldn't have put the bag in my purse, but doesn't excuse how disgusting and soggy the sandwich was regardless. read more

In our office, we have mixed views on this place. The good: the food is good, good portions and priced well. The bad: estimated delivery times. They estimate 1 hr, you should assume it'll be 1.5 hrs or longer. For everyone living under the COVID-19, that the new normal is delivery, this place has not yet gotten with the times that good delivery service matters. We stopped here on our way to Boston from South Jersey. It's well worth the trip off the Merritt. It's hard finding gluten free options and they had many! My husband had the eggs Benedict and I had Heuvos. Both were fantastic. The people were friendly and helpful. And the bill was less than it would have been at Mc Donald's! Food is very tasty, but portion of meat in sandwiches was on the small side. Pesto spread was also very meager, should have been a thicker coating. Everything tasted fresh including the bread. Several tables for dining in, but no restroom which is kind of annoying. So, would recommend ordering food to go. If you live or work nearby, would recommend giving it a try. This is hidden away in Springdale, but I'm so glad I found it based on suggestions and reviews. It's a bit out of the way for me, but I make the journey because the food is delicious and the service is impeccable. I've never had a bad experience here. First of all, they have a huge selection of unique sandwiches, and you can customize them to your heart's desire. Same goes for their salads. Their ingredients are fresh and food is made quickly. Their pot brewed coffee is light years ahead of Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks, so it's always a joy to get their coffee which is a fraction of the cost. It's a bit more expensive than shops maybe in smaller towns, but for Stamford the price is about right. A sandwich will run you between $5 - $7. Salads can be a tad more, but you get huge portions. I'd like to say before this review, I am a HUGE fan of Tony's Corner Deli in Ridgefield. It's on my top 5 favorite delis. But I've only every been disappointed with The Village Table. Yesterday I went to in grab 3 breakfast sandwiches in the AM. The place was fairly packed. As the menu is located by where you order/pay, and its very large, there were half a dozen people standing in front and holding up the line. It took over 10 minutes for me to place an order, which is ridiculous as no one was ordering in front of me, just looking at the menu. I waited another 20 minutes to receive my sandwiches, which had been sitting on the back counter, being ignored. By now, I'm losing my patience. When I get home, all 3 breakfast sandwiches are wrong. One is missing the sauce, another has no meat and all three had the wrong cheese. There are better places in Stamford to grab a quick bite. Hoenstly, I would drive up to Ridgefield then come back here. read more

This is a true gem in Stamford! I've been longing for the days when Stamford had a reliable, reasonably priced, consistent deli. I was certain that those days were gone and I'd be stuck dealing with subpar, dreadful places that were lacking in all of the above, however those days aren't over thanks to Village Table. Somehow my sister found this incredible spot and she suggested that we go. I had very low expectations and thought it'd be interesting to check out a spot in Springdale where I had never been. Located in the Springdale shopping center, Village Table is easy to miss if you're not looking for it. The deli is extremely unassuming- from the outside you'd never know that this place serves perfect (and I do mean PERFECT) coffee. The breakfast and lunch menu is extensive and fun with names that locals will recognize and get a kick out of. You can find anything you want and the staff is happy to accommodate you with substitutes and add in's. I'm a vegetarian/vegan and I always have a good number of options to choose from. I've been here at least 6 times and I've never been disappointed with my selections. The food here is fresh and tastes delicious. Nothing here is greasy, mushy, watery, stale, burnt or inedible- it's always cooked to perfection and the portion sizes are sensible. I can't rave about the coffee enough- it's truly PERFECT. If I could I would skip all the other coffee shops and cafe's and only get my coffee here. You'll never look at coffee the same after coming here! The service here is amazing. Everyone is kind, patient and friendly. The friendliness also extends to the patrons- everyone who comes here is so kind and warm. It's almost impossible to be in a bad mood here! I've truly had some great laughs here with other customers. Depending on the time of day that you go parking can be quick and easy or extremely annoying- the same goes for seating inside. Certain times of the day (most notably at lunch) the place is packed and seating is limited but early morning and late afternoons are quieter with most people doing take out or pick up. Good food but terrible service. They hire people that have poor English communication skills. This creates wrong orders ALMOST every time. We ordered a chicken cutlet with cheddar cheese. I said cheddar like 5 times and we ended up with Feta? They also need to have two separate lines for pickup and ordering. It creates confusion and anger when people are constantly cutting. I lived in NYC for years and this place has that sunny sidewalk neighborhood feel that I missed when I moved to Stamford. Tony, the owner, is an incredibly nice guy and the whole staff clearly takes pride in serving delicious food to customers. PS: I come here at least once a week, and I'm shocked to read the reviews claiming bad service - sometimes there is a line when it's busy, but in no way would I describe the service negatively or the wait as unreasonable. Really strange set up, really good breakfast. You order from the counter, easy enough, and then you go find a table. The whole counter situation from ordering, to pick up, to paying is a bit chaotic. But the breakfast combinations they have are great: specifically the East Ender. A well made bacon, egg, and cheese with hashbrowns or cones on it. Prices are cheap, coffee is meh, but Dunkin is around the corner for that. Overall, I'd recommend and have recommended this place to people. read more
