Big fan of this place! I've been here the past two nights and have been so pleasantly surprised with their extensive tap selections. Bartender was very helpful and attentive when taking my drink order. Atmosphere was cute, love the chalkboard menu- very clear and easy to read. I wish the music wasn't so loud though, it was a bit hard to shout over Sublime songs. A few too many IPA's in my opinion. I would suggest more Stouts for the warmer months! I will review again when I try the food there! :) read more

We have been to the Villager a few times and had great food, great beer but issues with the service. We gave it another shot and again, a member of the staff started this visit off on the wrong foot. There is consistently an older, thin gentleman who mans the door and acts like a host. We stopped by the villager to grab drinks and small bites to watch a baseball game. The restaurant was empty (3 tables taken max) and he told a girl where to seat us. I had a broken toe and we wanted a view of the game so we asked the girl for the hightop so i could rest my foot on a ledge. She said "let me ask him because he is picky" we watched him assertively respond no and shake his head. She came back and said "were going to be busy and need to reserve that for other parties who may come in". So, they stuck us in the corner without a view of the TV. Shortly after we sat, a barrel table opened in the front and the girl moved us there. Our server was a sweetheart. Beer was great and the empanadas and pretzel were on point. It was a nice night, so they had the front windows open. So, you could imagine how delicious the pretzel tasted while smelling cigarette smoke from that same older male employee because he was smoking literally on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant where the windows were open and people were sitting. We watched another couple walk in and ask to sit at a table to watch the game. The man said no because they only had two people and the table sat 4. He told them to stand at the bar instead. Seriously?! They left. If he wasn't so rude, we would have stayed there all night. Note to the bar---get rid of that employee. Take care of customers and they will come back and spend more money while they're there. The Villager, you are a small fish in the pond of Babylon Village bars and restaurants whose staff is much friendlier to their customers. read more

This place has good burgers but takeout staff never gets my order right. I've ordered 5 times & they always get it wrong. I came to pick up my order another time to check out what the issue might be. The takeout staff are young kids. While waiting for my food I had a chance to observe the staff. To make a long story short not impressed. Moving forward i will pick up my orders. read more

Best Burgers in Town. Build your own burger gives lots if choice topping including Guyere Cheese, Avocado, Tater Tots & Waffle Fries put on an English Muffin. Bang Bang Shrimp appetizers are amazing! Pretty great bar food! Waffle fries covered in Gouda, bacon, and scallions. El Diablo burger has jalapeño peppers cooked INTO the burger. The staff doesn't get offended when you request hot sauce! (Frank's and Sriracha are avail) Also, they had Stone IPA on tap in addition to over a dozen draft options. Only hang up was that all the burgers were served on English muffins but, after trying it, I see the draw. Hot wings weren't anything to shake a stick at either....I detected a HINT of garlic in there to add to the traditional Frank's flavor....AND it's right by the train station! This place has awesome Craft beers! The selection is always a good time. a very cool spot for Brunch. Pretzel is delish, but the Calamari is fantastic! Light, crunchy with occasional jalapeno in the mix. Bang Bang shrimp is great as well. We enjoy the sandwiches the most. The DPA Dip and Cubano are fantastic, along with the fried chicken sandwich. The Food and Beers are top notch. The service is always friendly. We love coming to this place. Highly recommendable! read more

Went here for the first time on Thursday night. Bar was busy for a weeknight. They have 24 Craft beers on tap as well as bottled beer, wine & liqour. Bartenders were welcoming & they allow you to try the beers before choosing. Food menu has a good selection. We tried the soft pretzel bites with a beer cheese dip. Atmosphere was very relaxing. As the night went on the lights were dimmed and the music got louder but still enjoyable. Located in the village of Babylon and a block from train station. We will definitely be returning to this bar in the future! read more

The villagers a pretty cool spot. It's tiny inside but has a nice size bar area. They have about 25 craft beers on tap and a nice menu of burgers, sandwiches, etc. i had the pretzel bites, which were great, and a burger, which they serve on an english muffin. I liked the english muffin, it was toasted and yummy. However, I ordered my burger medium rare and it was literally brown all the way through, so that was disappointing. If I'm gona splurge in calories for a burger, I'd like it cooked how I asked. I'd definitely give this place another shot. read more

Good service depending on when you go (there are some very nice servers, one male server in particular was super vulgar though.) I was taken to the villager twice by a few of my friends that come here regularly, and I just felt that it really is not a place for women. It super dark like a man cave, and they play music from what sounds like a pandora channel, so it's mostly outdated rock songs, or pop songs that were big 20+ years ago, no mixes or dj sets. I couldn't have a conversation with my table in here, everyone just kept their heads down and ate like they were alone in their kitchen at home. I felt a little embarrassed being in the villager honestly, because some of the people (especially the girls) looked too young to be in there, like maybe they got in with fake ids (not the bouncers fault; they ID'd me before I came in.) Since the guys far outnumbered the girls, it looked like the girls were too young to know what was up; I felt bad, but I got the impression they were in there to talk to men. The place is really loud, underlit and very small, with no dance floor, and from the bar to the tables it was packed with mostly male people. I sort of felt like I intruded on a fraternity party, or a pre-gaming bachelor party. No shade from me, if you're a guy you may feel at home at the Villager, I just felt that it was no place for a lady. It is clean and nice on the outside, so it's a little deceptive. read more

This place was a nice surprise. Had a work Christmas party here last night, having never been here before I just assumed it was going to be another small hole in the wall bar or potentially, at best, forgettable like most other bars in the area. The whole decor of the place is done perfectly. It's rustic yet somehow modern. It's clear someone with a good eye put it all together. It just comes off as not trying despite feeling very upscale. Well done. The staff (in this case we had three bartenders and one girl who was bringing food as well as bartending) was super nice and super helpful. The beers on tap were diverse and quite good, including one of my new favorites Tröegs Mad Elf (which was a bartender suggestion, thanks for that) Lastly, the food. This was what really impressed me. Pub food is pub food, it's all going to be some variation of items which are both easy to prepare and quick to cook. When places make an effort to present innovative variations, it always hits a soft spot for me. Everything we had - while being standard fare - was dressed up just enough to make it stand out from what you'd expect. Also, and perhaps most importantly, it was all quite fresh - which is not something I've ever once said about food from a bar. This place gets the basics right and builds on them with a nice attention to detail. Couple that with a twist of innovation, and it's clear to me as a customer that someone in charge actually gives a crap about my experience, which in turn earns my respect and recommendation. This place is great! The menu looked fantastic, and we had to try as much as possible for our first visit. We started with the Thai clams and pretzels with cheese. The latter were the same as anywhere else, but the clams were really good. Hotter than anticipated, but not too hot. We then had the Cubano and the Slaw burger. I thought the Cubano would be good without the pork, which seemed dry to me, but was still enjoyable. The burger was fantastic and something I would get again. Lastly we had the gouda fries, which I expected to be different, but what came out was good (I don't think I'd get it again, though). For my daughters 21st birthday dinner we wanted burgers and great beer choices...and the Villager gave us both. We were seated quickly and our server was friendly and attentive. Happy to hear half-priced bone or boneless wings..yumm. Ordered tradition Buffalo and Mango Siracha. Both offered great taste and the Siracha had a very nice amount of heat. I used to love this place especially the bartenders but management and the bouncers have stopped me from going. My first strike was having uniforms with the Blue Lives Matter flag embroidered on, which, is just a reactionary "movement" to put down the legitimate concerns of what BLM is about. Last night was exceptionally appalling after a fight broke out. A man of color somehow got caught in the crossfire's but I didn't see him instigate or participate but he ended up getting kicked out. My heart was honestly breaking to see him and his friends walk away so angry, frustrated, defeated while yelling, "I didn't even touch him." Then someone told him, "you shouldn't have come here," and I understand the undertone of what they meant by that. I wish there was more I could do than just hope this sheds some light to other people on the racist attitudes of this establishment. read more

I have been here now a hand full of times so I guess its about time I write a review. Lets start with the beer. If you like craft beer you'll be gold here. The black board showed about 20 beers on tap ranging from lights to darks, ipa's, whites and wheats. Moving on to the food. Gouda Fries is a must and an amazing drunk snack food. I have also had the duck burger which to be honest didn't think it was the greatest thing on the menu. I love duck but the burger was very dry. If you are going on a date be prepared to sometimes yell over the table because the restaurant is small and the tables are kinda close to the bar which can get kinda crowded. Great beer section and good bar food. Atmosphere is usually nice, but a major complaint is that the space has no wall dressings whatsoever. This leads to the loud music bouncing around unabated, which can make it hard to hear yourself think-- let alone hear the person across from you. The staff need to find a better balance in that regard. Side note, they got rid of their pretzel bites appetizer and replaced it with a typical large soft pretzel, very sad. read more

The rest of younger crowd seemed totally at ease with it. There was only one thing that did not make sense to me. We asked for Gouda fries as an appetizer and the El Diabolo burger and the spicy BBQ sandwich. The waiter said the burger and the sandwich come with tater tots and asked if we wanted to have the Gouda fries as the side instead. It sounded like a good idea, so we said yes. We were charged $5 extra each for the 2 sides. That's more than what the Gouda fries would have cost us as an appetizer. And we gave up our tots for that. Beer here is good, but that is not why I find myself stumbling in late at night on the weekends. You have to try their Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwhiches! As a native new yorker, I grew up eating BEC's, and this one at The Villager is at the top of my list! The sandwhich is served on an english muffin, with a side of tater tots that brings back so many childhood memories!
