At 8:00am no need for long lines in waiting and parking which they recently repaved. Our host is super sweet & friendly, too. And they always do refill coffee, water, and whatever your choice of beverage. Today, instead of cornbeef hash, I got Annie's omelet, and the sausage is not the little ones that are pork links, but kind of like polish sausage style ones. Super yum and subbing bell peppers for mushroom. Anyway, I am hoping that they never change the menus. Also, the restroom has also been redone too. Super awesome cozy and seats enough and ample areas outside that seats up to 4-6ppl and whom may have dog-friendly seating. Definitely be back again! Thanks guys, keep it up! read more

Dining room is small so expect a wait. We visited on a Sunday around 11am. We were told it was a 20 minute wait but ended up waiting 50 minutes. We're a larger group and there are only a couple of tables that could accommodate. There were a few outside tables that would work but they were being used by folks waiting to dine. Perhaps Lumberjack didn't have then manpower or it was too cold to service. I don't recall seeing patio heaters. It was sunny out and in the mid 40s. We dined towards the end of the rush. By the time food was dropped off, several tables were empty. Food is good. Price is high for some items though it isn't a surprise, being expensive to trucking up goods. My husband ordered a single buttermilk pancake and I had the Little Joe (one egg with two bacon strips and Logger potatoes (yum!)) plus a sourdough pancake. I'm a fan of the sourdough. My husband... not so much. He said it was good but prefers buttermilk. One friend ordered the breakfast burrito; said it was massive but cumbersome to hold requiring fork and knife. Another ordered the Complete Family Breakfast which is definitely a deal. It was a lot of food especially with the pancakes almost as big as the plate. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. The kids cleaned their plates. There are two single restrooms though it seemed like only one was available at the time. Parking lot holds maybe10 vehicles plus one handicap spot. Be careful exiting the lot if parked along Big Bear Blvd. There was an accident in front by where we parked. Not sure if there is parking on the side streets. Recently visited the lumberjack cafe on a trip to big bear. We had a group of 9 so there was a variety of items ordered. I ordered the breakfast burrito which was pretty good. The random shredded cheese that wasn't melted was kind of strange. The burrito was poorly wrapped making it difficult to pick it up and eat it. May be better wrap it better and cut in half. I need to cutting it open and eating the filling. The salsa they provided was pretty spicy but had good flavor. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their food and the servers were friendly. The worst part about this place is definitely the parking. Parking is super limited and dangerous getting in and out of. There happened to be an accident that happened while we were inside. My suggestion is to try to back into a parking spot to get out. read more

Service is slooooowww, but the large plate size and flavor made my hangry man baby quite content. The sourdough pancake was delicious, and my basic scrambled eggs and side of avo were good (red salsa is AMAZING), but the chefs kiss was my hubby's "chainsaw and eggs" plate. He has commented at least ten times how much he liked it. Whew, he was hangry so crisis adverted! Service though, very very slow. Last girls trip to Big Bear, and my friend raved about the green chilaquiles breakfast from Lumberjack Cafe, so we rolled out of bed early on Saturday and rolled into the cafe at 9:00 am. I spotted corned beef hash on the menu and you know me I couldn't resist! Corned beef hash can be a gamble but this one was a slam dunk with crispy edges, tender center and entirely delicious. My eggs over easy were a tad runny but the hash more than redeemed them. But the real showstopper? The green chilaquiles. The salsa was... unexplainably magical. Bright, zingy, and just different enough to make you wonder if they bottled this stuff in fairy dust. I wish they sold the sauce separately so I could bring a jar home and pretend I made a chef's kiss at home. By the time we finished eating, the restaurant was packed and people were waiting for tables proof that great breakfast travel far and fast. Bottom line: I'd drive back to Big Bear just to eat here again. Breakfast is my jam, and Lumberjack Cafe is now my jam's new best friend. Would I recommend? Absolutely! We came in on a Sunday morning around 10, we didn't have to wait long to be seated. It's very small inside. This place needs better customer service, one of the girls sat us at our table and literally just dumped the utensils and menus on our table without saying a word. Our waitress was great tho, she was very lovely and accommodating, actually communicated with us. Food was AWESOME! Great service to... We asked locals where to go for breakfast. For some reason, Grizzly Manor was recommended, but that place is so small, that folks are waiting out in the cold. Thus place was a few tenths of a star less, but so glad we came here instead. Grizzly has better pictures, but man, the food at Lumberjack was so fresh and skillfully prepared. No waiting either! Next day, again went to Grizzly, but PACKED, so we tried Benny's. Very new and even more space than Lumberjack, but food was average, service was average and they charge more... The food overall was decent but wished the food came out hotter, it was more warm than hot. We ordered the lumberjack scramble and biscuits and gray. It was split between the two of us and more than enough. The biscuit and gray was fine, but cold and the biscuit was a bit too hard for my liking. The scramble was decent. The service was good and attentive. It's along the highway and among the trees, cute location. Loved this place! Was a local for over 5 years and regret not visiting sooner. We walked over with our large dog. Kids driving their little car(great parking for it ). We sat in the front patio. Got a tuna melt and a breakfast dish. Koda our great Pyrenees's even got some eggs. Everything was sooo yummy! Michelada was on point. The tuna melt! I've never had such a perfect tuna melt ever. The kids absolutely devoured the chocolate chip pancakes. Owners are great people too. They work hard to maintain their place in the community and it shows. Staff was very welcoming and attentive. Food was delicious and well proportioned. We came on a Thursday morning and there was no wait, but still pretty consistently busy. It was definitely a local favorite as some guests were treated by name; and many greeted each other. It was a nice quiet place where you didn't have to shout over the noise to talk to each other. Went to lumberjack cafe during a trip up to big bear and this place was so good I went there two days in a row! The service was great and the food was also very great. The first day our food came out very quickly, but the second day the food took quite a bit longer. It was a busier day overall so maybe i got luckier the first day, but the food was worth the wait. I got the Eggs Benedict, and my friends all got breakfast options like Pancakes, Eggs, Potatoes, etc, and all of it was delicious. This is a sweet little community cafe filled with locals who are loved on by the servers. We also saw a few hikers. We tried the full breakfast with eggs bacon and pancakes- one sourdough and one buttermilk. The sourdough have a strong sourdough flavor; we liked the buttermilk pancakes the best. There's a noticeable religious vibe, considering we sat by a shrine for the virgin Mary, I believe.
