East coast rust identified but typical from salting the toads in winter

As a long time car mechanic, race mechanic and gear head, I can say that George knows his Volvos and was helpful, accommodating and thorough! I was in Los Angeles to see my son and check out a C30 R design with a manual transmission as a hard to find sporty coupe and wanted a full inspection of the car to include the on board computer for any trouble codes (VIDA) and both a visual and functional assessment of the car's condition and operation. George took the car in right on arrival as I was on a tight timeline from the dealer who was selling the car and gave me a complete report both written and verbal on the car. I had a lot of questions and he answered them all and showed me on the car the good the bad and the ugly, of which there was very little ugly and bad thankfully . He told me what to look for in the future and what preventative maintenance to do to keep the car in top running condition. For the amount of time he spent and depth he went, the value of the inspection fee is a great value and he verified the car had not had the timing belt done yet, which was not clear by the CarFax report and a critical service element that will need to be done in the first year of ownership due to the age of the car per factory specifications. For the degree of specialization that the Clinic provides, the value and labor charges are reasonable. I felt very comfortable and well served by The Volvo Car Clinic and was worth the drive from Montclair.

This is the most handsome and polite Mechanic I've ever met. He's fun and enthusiastic. Prices are fair. Timelines are held. Thank you Volvo Car Clinic.

George was very good and explained about the reason for AC not blowing cold air. The Volvo Car Service center at Ontario charge so much and they don't do the work properly. I am glad that I was able to connect with George and cost below $200 at 50000miles as Car service. The Volvo car service at Ontario charges $294 at 50000mile

Taken to shop.

Our family's Ford Explorer required a water pump replacement…read more I visited several local auto shops to obtain quotes and was shocked, disappointed, and discouraged at the prices I was being quoted for the work my vehicle required ($5,000-$7,500) Shame on me for not reading Yelp reviews before wasting my time visiting other auto shops. I read the many positive reviews for Hye-Tech Auto Repair and decided to visit them. Upon entering, I was greeted by John (owner) with a friendly, "Welcome, how may I help you?" I explained that my Ford Explorer needed a new water pump and a few other items that other auto shops had advised me would require repair or replacement. While John looked up a few items on the computer to provide me with a quote, he introduced me to his son, Harry, who happened to be in the office. Thirty seconds later, John provided a quote that was $3,500-$4,000 less than the other shops. I could not believe it. John explained that he makes his living and succeeds in his business through repeat customers, and he does not believe in gouging customers for every last penny. He also shared that when he retires, his son Harry will take over the business, and he wants to leave Harry with a solid foundation of loyal repeat customers. It was then that I knew I could trust John and his son Harry. John went on to explain that replacing the water pump on a Ford Explorer was a 10-12 hour job, as it was an internal pump requiring numerous engine parts to be removed to reach it. This was the same thing all the other shops advised me. John suggested that I leave my vehicle, and he would perform a full inspection of the engine and contact me before doing anything to it. I agreed and left my vehicle. The following day, I was contacted by John, who advised me that the water pump did indeed need to be replaced, as it was the source of the constant leaks of the water coolant. I left my vehicle in John's shop for three days. During this time, John or his son, Harry, contacted me numerous times to keep me updated on the progress of my vehicle and also to point out that mechanics had discovered two or three very inexpensive items (under $50.00) which they recommended replacing, which I agreed to have done. All in all, I was and am extremely impressed and satisfied with everything about this shop. I spent much less money to have five different issues repaired on my vehicle at Hye-Tech than what I was quoted to replace my water pump alone by every single shop I visited prior to coming to Hye-Tech. John and Harry are very friendly, honest, and trustworthy. They are also very knowledgeable and experienced, and they offer GREAT customer service and communication. This is my new go-to shop for any issues involving our family vehicles. Thank you, Hye-Tech Auto Repair, for a very positive experience.

I opened a Yelp project to try to get my transmission serviced. The dealership wanted to charge me…read more$1300 for this service. Yelp projects are one of the best things I've ever experienced. It's nice to see you can get quotes at the touch of a button on your phone. This morning, I had time off, so I headed in to get my service done. I did not have an appointment and that did not seem to matter. I arrived first thing in the morning at 8 AM and ask if the service could be done. Harry was an exceptional young man, he took me in with no problems, no questions. He said they could do it this morning. I told him I would have to wait. He had no problem with that either. Prior to bring in the car in this morning, as I said, I used a yelp project and had several people reach out and give me quotes. After looking at all the yelp reviews I decided to give this place a try. I am super happy that I did. This place is a hidden gem, excellence, service, quality, and value for what you receive. There are not very many shops where you could feel comfortable and put your trust in them. As I spent time in the lobby, I was able to see customer service on the phone and customer service entering the facility. Every customer that walked in, seem satisfied and was treated with dignity and respect. I highly recommend this place if you have any automotive questions whatsoever.

Absolutely the most honest, low priced, thorough, quality oriented auto mechanics I have ever used…read more Let me convince you to take your car here! If its a clunker, they will give new life to it. Who needs a new car and all those monthly payments! Let me explain. This is the third time I have taken my cars here. The first two times (read my earlier reviews), repairs were made, they threw in some extras (FOR FREE!!), and the cars run great! Also, the price was so much lower than others I thought they made a mistake. Nope, the price was correct and much less than others. This latest repair on 6/26/2026, was for my 2003 Honda Accord EX. The photo of the invoice will show all the repairs they made (water pump, timing belt, etc.) They also noticed other items and addressed, and did a free oil change! Crazy huh! When did you ever get anything free from a car repair shop, except a free headache when you get the bill! No headache from them. Excellent service. Terrific price. HONEST MECHANICS! Afterward, I confirmed with CHATGPT (artificial intelligence) what was done: price, repairs, etc. The answer was all good and verified they did everything they were supposed to do, along with a excellent price for the area. Trust me, and give them a try! Look at all those great reviews. Previously I interfaced with David. This time it was Monte. They were both wonderful.

He asked me about my issue and took the car for a short drive, he came back and gave me a quote. I liked that he explained everything to me about what he saw and what needed to be replaced. I felt like he was being genuine. Since they did not have my parts available that day I made an appointment for a few days later. When I returned to get the work done, he showed me the new parts and again explained what the issue was and what he would be replacing. I appreciate the fast and reliable service and would trust them again for any auto repairs. Highly recommend this shop. They offer great value, integrity, transparency, and reliability.

I requested a quote through Yelp and my request was sent to multiple auto shops. I chose this…read morecompany based on location and called ahead to confirm they could do more than just read basic codes. I had already done my own diagnostics and knew the car was running rich. I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.
