Service has been consistently inattentive and the food I've had here is mediocre at best. I'm not certain whether it's a matter of bad management after hiring or bad management from the onset. I've been in here a few times for Wednesday karaoke and found the bartenders to be pleasant but distracted. All but the night that I've been in, I've stood at the bar waiting 10+ minutes to even be acknowledged, let alone served. Tonight I met some friends on a Friday and was served a drink automatically at the bar (which is the first time that's ever happened), then went to the table where my friends were sitting only to be mostly ignored by the server til I mentioned I'd like another beer and some food. I made a drink and food order and mentioned that I'd probably close out afterward. While my friends were eating and before she'd given me my food or my beer, she handed me my bill. I had yet to receive either my food or my drink when she handed me either. The micro aggression suggested in this action might have been imagined but was noted by my friends verbally after I'd thought it. read more

The Walrus has different daily specials, I ordered the Monday special: Hawaiian style burger. The burger was really delicious but I couldn't taste anything too "Hawaiian" about it. It was just a savory burger with bacon and a lot of salt. I think Walrus does appetizers and side items really well. I recommend getting the sweet potato fries as well as the mushroom fries. The mushroom fries are perfectly crispy and taste really unique. I noticed the Walrus has a bottomless mimosas brunch, I will definitely be back for that! read more

We went to the Walrus on Tues 5 April. We had 6:15 reservations and were seated directly at a table with a reserved sign. Our server was there almost immediately with two glasses of water and menus. On the server's return choosing beers was discussed, and the server was very knowledgeable. My wife ordered the Chilled house lobster salad on a buttered New England roll. $26 or one roll for $16, and I ordered the hot Pastrami on toasted rye with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut & thousand island dressing. 13.50. Our dinners were out to us very quickly. The lobster rolls were large, and the lobster was plentiful. The Pastrami was well-cooked juicy, tender, and tasty. The short rib sliders are amazing!!! Service had a little to be desired. Our dining partner ordered the short rib entree, but the server brought him the same as us, the sliders. The seating which their is plenty of was awkward initially. The greeter mentioned due To reservations we would have to sit at a table With other people already seated , so we had no problem with that. However the people we sat with were up in five minutes going to another area which we felt was clearly awkward and the waitress could have just put us in the place where she put them. Then another set of people were seated at the table exactly where the other people who couldn't wait to move sat, which was fine they were nice and friendly. So maybe in the future the greeter needs to be conscience of her customers and not make them Feel uncomfortable due to their seating arrangements , which she caused to happen in my opinion. Now the food was good that we had the lobster pirogies were delicious and the wings loved the Cajun rub and bourbon ones. But due to the seating experience we will probably not come again. I found something really good here at The Walrus. The Pickle Spear and French Fries dinner is only $14.99 and it's wonderful. That tasty dill pickle spear comes out chilled and with just the right amount of tartness. It really hits the spot. The Fries were pretty awesome too. Hot, crispy, lightly seasoned and with just the right amount of chew. Now if that's not enough to tempt you to come in, these folks also give you two delicious Lobster Rolls on the side. Isn't that awesome? It comes on a toasted bun with plenty of delicious lobster meat that they fortunately don't smother in mayo. It's one of my favorite new finds. Now my DPIC (Dining Partner In Crime) had a great suggestion: Let's share our food. She got the Grilled Chicken Quesadilla and it was really loaded with chicken, cheese, corn, beans, onion and other things too. It was hot cheesy goodness at its finest. Great idea Gwen W., it was a good share and I'd recommend that strategy to anyone. This is a great tavern in a space that is warm and inviting. I love the open front that lets in all the light and fresh air. The service was very good too and we never wanted for anything at all. Our server even offered me some beer samples to help with my decision making and they were good but then again, I'd been craving an Amaretto Sour and I just had to go for it. I had really mixed feelings about this place. I came in on a recommendation from the host I am renting from. We were immediately told that there were no tables available without a reservation because they were full. After noticing the bar wasn't the most comfortable option, I used open table to check how long the wait for a table would be. It had plenty of spots available, so I booked the 6:15p reservation at 6:07p then proceeded to show the hostess. At this point, she was able to magically find us a table, and we sat for dinner. The waitress was great, and the food was excellent and tasty. We ended up getting two apps and an entree, and several drinks. I didn't like that they charge you for sauces, I feel it should be complimentary if you are ordering something like ranch that you automatically eat with food selection. I good sports bar with you can found in the downtown Columbus, the staff are very nice, and the place is pretty big, it has a stage with have trivia night some night. Went a couple time while I was in a project in Ohio. They also have good wings special on Monday, with making perfect Monday Football, from all wings I will recommend getting the mango habanero with had a good taste. A bit sweet with a kick of spicy-ness that you couldn't help to lick my finger with each bite, instantly setting my mouths on fire but it was such a delicious and flavorful burn, and the sweetness of the honey BBQ actually countered the spiciness very well and I also add some French fries on the side with that entertain my stomach for a while. But if you are not a wings lover and are into Sandwich I would like to recommend getting the Crispy fried chicken breast on foccacia with spicy BBQ sauce, avocado, lettuce, onion & ranch. Such a fun place for dinner and drinks as yopros. We did a walking date night on Saturday and we started at the walrus for dinner. Super duper good food! Service was friendly and super kind, but a bit slow towards the end of our dinner. I had the shrimp poboy and my boyfriend had the queso burger. Both were super filling and yummy! We don't normally get dessert at the same place we eat dinner, but they were running a special on their warm chocolate chip cookies and holy guacamole they were to die for. The Walrus is a staple of the downtown scene. We stopped in for a late Sunday brunch. The biscuits and gravy were a lot of fun. The gravy is made with chorizo, so it packed a bit of heat. My wife adored her chicken sandwich. The fries were seasoned to perfection. Around us multiple sports events were playing on the multiple flatscreen TVs. Very cute place! We came here after a concert last Saturday night so it was late but still fairly busy. The set up of restaurant is really cool, with the front of the building opening up to the outside. They had live music that was very good and the whole vibe of the place was nice. My husband and I both order burgers and they got to us very fast! The burgers and fries were amazing and our server did a great job as well despite them being busy. Visited The Walrus for Restaurant Week with some co-workers about 2 weeks ago - a good meal, but not the best I've had in CBus. We easily made reservations for our group of 8, and despite me arriving ~1 hour late (work issues, blah), still had a good time. The place is large on the inside, with plenty of seating even for large groups. It is a little dark, but what can you expect for a downtown bar-like restaurant? The deal for restaurant week was $20 for a starter, meal, and dessert - a pretty legit offering! Since I got there so late, I didn't enjoy HH, but my co-workers enjoyed some of the 1/2 priced beers, which they said good things about. I started with the chopped salad, which included bacon and bleu cheese in addition to normal salad toppings and was nicely dressed with a balsamic dressing - although next time I would ask for the dressing on the side to avoid the slight drowning of the salad. For my main, I opted for the lobster roll, which included 2 hot dog-sized rolls and a decent serving of fries. The lobster roll was just OK - not great standout flavors and relatively bland, which was slightly disappointing. While I recognize that Columbus is far from the key lobster areas, I still expected a bit more flavor for the dish, as well as some more meat to fill up the buns. The fries were nice and thick with good flavor, so that mildly made up for the roll. The dish was nicely sized though, and I took one of the rolls and the fries home for another day, so that was a bonus at least. I was pretty stuffed by the time dessert rolled around (and didn't want to keep my group waiting too long), so I grabbed my cheesecake to go. There were at least 7 cheesecake offerings, but I opted for the caramel almond flavor. This was actual quiet delish - uncertain if it was purchased cheesecake or homemade in house, but regardless, the perfect amount of caramel and a strong almond flavor which brought the two flavors together perfectly. Also appreciated The Walrus' flexibility in letting me take this portion home to enjoy on my own couch! Overall, The Walrus was an OK representation of CBus restaurant week - a good deal, but wish the lobster roll was a bit stronger flavor and the salad was more scantily dressed. Would definitely be willing to try again, likely ordering off their normal menu and trying some more standard dishes (burgers, sandwiches) to get a better idea of their true flavors. The Walrus has good tasting drinks and food. It could improve other areas though. The stuff on the menu is good but the prices could use some adjustment. It also needs to get better organized. They need to be aware of how long their customers are waiting. If you go earlier it will go better. It has a happy hour but it's nothing all that special. The reason to go early is because the service will suck exponentially the later it goes on. It has a pretty good amount of beers to choose from, including many locals. The beers are $1 off drafts at happy hour. Among the selections are Abita. The cocktail list isn't so impressive, and there's no discounts at happy hour. As for the food it tastes good. Unfortunately it's too expensive for what's on the plate. One of the better options is the vegetable burger. This is about $11 which is kind of ridiculous because it's not made with any meat. It's good tasting and I would eat something like this again. The sandwiches come with fries. It's optional to substitute the fries for vegan chili. This chili is pretty good. We were on vacation in Columbus for the zoo and the Lego experience and my wife found The Walrus on Door Dash, after a long day with our 6 year old. It looked really good, so we ordered. The food came within a reasonable time and we were anxious to try our Po' Boys and crab cakes. Well, it turns out that DD delivered us the wrong order and instead we got a burger and cauliflower mac-n-cheese. No thanks. My wife tried to get things right with DD, but the Walrus was no longer taking DD orders. I'd like to give more than 3 stars, however I never got to try my desired order. Update time. It's been three years since I last appeared here. Popped in on a whim (if I recall correctly, we were crashing a friend's date). I had my gift cards in hand, and they sat us quickly and were pretty damn prompt. Not just me - at first I was thinking they were eyeballing us, but their servers were flying around that night (a night with live music, and they bobbed and weaved around the drunk people).
