After a fall right after my surgery I spent 4 days in the hospital. I have an injured elbow, a serious balance disorder and nerve pain in the same leg as my foot surgery. I'm a serious fall risk. Upon my hospital discharge 6 days ago, the hospital and my surgeon referred me to Caregivers for PT, OT, Nurses, and a home health aide. So far I saw a nurse 4 days ago who recommended a wheelchair for me, but did NOTHING about ordering one for me. I've had to coordinate all of that myself. Two other nurses have called to see me just days after the initial visit. I saw a PT today who seemed to have limited knowledge of my other physical complaints. The OT I coordinated myself. The home health aide? So far she's just a promise that has failed to materialize. Both my social worker and my doctor's office have reached out to Caregivers multiple times for the last 4 days, and each time they're told that "it's all coordinated, I just have to wait". It's been 10 days since I last bathed. I'm miserable! If you're good with do-it-yourself home healthcare, this is the company for you. From my perspective, I want caregivers who really care about caring for the people they've been contracted to care for.

Where other agencies it was quite obvious that it was going to take time for them to evaluate if they wanted to help us. Georgetown Home Care was there the next day. We felt as if we were there only client. They found us a compatible aide and they were very caring as a company. Right up until the end. Which came as quick as the need for home care did. Overall very pleased with the responsiveness and the aides that were assigned to us.

We traveled from Bethesda to Washington Hospital Center specifically for those appointments. After we arrived, we were told that only my appointment existed. The staff then informed my wife that she had supposedly been removed from the practice because of an unspecified incident from about 10 years ago. No one could explain what had happened or why she had never been informed before we made the trip. I questioned why this had not been addressed before we drove into Washington and why no one could provide a clear explanation. Instead of trying to resolve the situation or apologizing for the confusion, the response became even more troubling. Although I had a scheduled appointment, Dr. Kruzrok came out personally and told me that he would not be seeing me either. From my perspective, my appointment was canceled because I respectfully stood up for my wife and questioned how we had been treated. Whatever happened to the Hippocratic Oath? Rather than provide the medical care I had traveled there to receive, Dr. Kruzrok chose not to see me. That decision was deeply disappointing and, in my opinion, inconsistent with the professionalism and compassion patients should expect from a physician. The issue here is bigger than one doctor. It reflects a culture of poor communication, lack of accountability, and disregard for patients' time. We rearranged our day, traveled into Washington, D.C., and left without either of us receiving the care we had scheduled. I found Dr. Kruzrok's demeanor to be smug and self-righteous, and his handling of this situation fell far short of what I expect from a physician. Based on this experience, I have no confidence in either Dr. Kruzrok or MedStar Health, and I cannot recommend either.

Instead of addressing what appeared to be a scheduling failure and communicating professionally, the practice chose to refuse care altogether. Patients deserve honesty, transparency, and respect. We invested our time, rearranged our schedules, and traveled to the appointment, only to be met with contradictory explanations, a vague reference to an unexplained event from a decade ago, and a complete refusal to provide the scheduled care. This was one of the most unprofessional healthcare experiences I have ever had. Dr. Kruzrok's handling of this situation reflected a shocking lack of professionalism and respect for patients. From reading reviews from other patients, for this doctor, mine does not seem like an isolated incident, but rather a pattern of behavior. Based on my experiences, MedStar Health has consistently provided some of the worst healthcare service I have encountered, and this incident only reinforced that opinion. I cannot recommend either this physician or this practice.

I will always be grateful for that. I am also a patient of Dr. Maruf and I feel that he truly cares about me. When I am with Dr. Maruf I never feel rushed. He is a kind, gentle, and excellent Doctor. I have recommended him to many friends and family members and they have all felt as I do about him. The staff warm, helpful, and friendly. The office is very attractive and clean. Occasionally the wait can be a bit long because they take emergencies as they arise. What good is a doctor if they are not available in an emergency!

The lack of compassion and even professionalism made the final weeks of my father's life and the experience of his death much harder for him and the family than it needed to be. At the time of our greatest distress, the medical director responded to our needs and concerns with callous indifference. When choosing Sunrise for dad, I was focused on daily living questions but it turns out, the medical director is by far the most important position there. I regret I didn't realize that when we were looking for a place for dad. At the toughest time in your life, you'll want people who will help you not make it harder.

I was so impressed by the kindness and quality of the staff, despite the low salaries. There is an angelic woman named Pierrette Kayombo, the activities coordinator in memory care. Any day I wanted to talk to my dad, I could just text her and she would arrange for me to talk to him on her ipad (he couldn't follow calls anymore). That was invaluable for me. She was always so warm and good-spirited--she just put all the residents in a good mood. I remember she was working on Christmas--not able to be with her own family--and was so positive--just a model of the Christmas spirit and put on a concert and other activities. There will always be frustrations with institutions, but I think this is a really good place.

The surgery itself seemed complicated and he did a great job and I've had a relatively smooth recovery. He never makes you feel dumb for asking a question and he absolutely gives you his full time and attention during the visits, which is not always the case with doctors. His staff have been just so thoughtful and courteous each and every time I've been there. I particularly appreciate the front desk staff who was really kind to me when I had an issue with my physical therapist and listened thoughtfully and took notes even though we were talking about a billing matter related to PT. I had to wait about 45 minutes one follow-up visit, but considering I was fit in as an emergency appointment after my accident and I'm sure someone else had to wait for me, I appreciate that the staff fit that person it because having been in that kind of pain, that person definitely deserved to go first. Other than that time I have always been seen on time. The online portal is fantastic to review your follow up notes and they are really timely about getting any forms filled out you need for other providers or any other reason.

Dr. recommended a procedure which I dutifully completed out of office, then returned with results for follow up appointment--at HIS recommendation, for which I also got charged. And this time only got 1.5 minutes of his time, no plain English explanation or clear recommendation--just a diagnostic write up I couldn't understand because I'm not a doctor. It was a waste of time, and I know which doctor I will not be going back to visit.
