One of the most unresponsive and irresponsible set of people I dealt with. I gave them a watch to fix. They called me the next day to tell me that it was ready to be picked up. After driving half hour, I was told that they made a mistake and that it would not be ready until the next day. Not one of them apologized for this error on their part. It is two days later and they still have not called me to tell me that it is ready. I will just go and pick it up. I had a major weekend occasion for which they said the watch will be ready. It is Monday and it is still not ready. Beware of this store, my experiences with them tell me that they are not honest and caring of their customers. read more

I was looking for a new spot for watch repair and battery replacement since my old favorite near GW downtown closed up for a mall expansion-- so I combed the internet looking for a replacement-- and I'm so glad I found the watch pocket. I packed up two of my battery depleted watches on a broiling Saturday afternoon and headed over to the shopping center located conveniently near 495 and Colesville Road. As I walked into a comfortable and cool jewelry store Matthew S was triaging his customers problems like an expert surgeon on a battlefield-- yes I can save this one-- no I can put a battery in but in a week it will stop running again-- yes it can be fixed but we'll need to contact the manufacturer to see if they still make that face. Needless to say I was impressed by both his professionalism and his honesty-- and when my time in the quay came he assessed my watches, quickly replaced the batteries ( each needed 2) and charged me a fair price which was even fairer when I applied my Yelp coupons on his Yelp site. After seeing the high praise this place has on here, I brought in my Invicta watch because a part of my metal band became unattached from one of the pins. I understand this to be a simple job to repair. The guy at Watch Pocket asked me what kind of watch it was before even looking at it. When I told him it was Invicta, he told me that there was nothing he could do because he didn't think the company made good products (Though not a Rolex it is a $400 watch, and I have worn this watch just about everyday for the last 7 years without any previous problems). He said the best thing I could do was get a new, better watch (again before looking at it), but reluctantly agreed to "hammer" it back together. To be clear, this fix amounted to him tapping it with a hammer for a few seconds and then handed it back to me. He assured me that the fix would only last a few minuets and then I should buy a new watch. It has lasted several days so far (the only reason they are not getting one star). If it does break, I certainly will not return to Watch Pocket for the repair. I found this experience especially aggravating because my watch given to me by my parents as a college graduation present and has sentimental value (as I'm sure most of the products that are brought into Watch Pocket have). I was shocked that the guy here would suggest that it was just as simple as buying a new watch, as if watches weren't expensive or meaningful to people. If you think watch repair shops are supposed to actually "repair" watches, and not judge you for gifts you were given then this is probably not the place for you. read more

I really don't know how this owner stays in business. The owner is cranky and rather rude. I brought in a diamond ring and some gold to see what I might get for them. First, he tells me the diamond isn't real, which I know is a total lie, as I had already been to 3 other jewelers who told me it was a nice .5 carat ring, but that the cut was not in style anymore, so wasn't worth it for them to buy. That's fine and honest. The guy at watch pocket was obviously trying to take advantage of me, telling me it's not even a diamond. What a jerk! I'll never step foot in his shop again. read more

My mom decided to have her clock repaired here, and the motor stopped working within the year. She had her batteries changed for her watches and they also stopped working within a few months. This was a few years ago; unless ownership has changed, we will not be going back there. read more

Went if for a battery replacement on several watches. Woulda been $10 each, but since I had 5 watches, they did it for $8 each. A spot in Wheaton quoted me $12-15 depending on the watch. Knowledgable staff. They also replaced a pin in one of the watches free-of-charge. They've got my business from now on. read more

Love this shop! Customer service is their top priority. Last week I broke two prongs on my engagement ring and list my stone in a hot tub! Amazing enough we found it. I dont believe there are 100% honest. I bought my Rolex Datejust Oyster Perpetual, they mentioned it was 14 Karat Gold. It is not, it is 18 karet Gold. The watch band clasp mentions that it is 18. He offers me $ 400 for a watch that is $5000 up. They are good for battery changes. Please if you have a luxery watch do not take there/. read more

Needed a watch battery, so my wife went with the numbers off the old one. The owner quoted $5.00, said they he would put it in I'd she brought the watch by & there would be no charge to put it in for me. Went in today, as I needed the battery & he charged $10.00. He said $5.00 for the battery & $5.00 for the installation (which took him all of five seconds). When I questioned why he charged me when he told my wife he wouldn't, he denied it. If he can't be honest with little things I would not trust him with anything important. I will never go back there again. read more

I wanted to love this local family owned neighborhood shop. I have given him two chances and have been disappointed both times. I walk out of the shop with what I believe is a fixed watch, only to face the same EXACT problem shortly there after! When I returned to the shop and explained to him that the watch had failed again, he was not only he suggested that the failure was MY fault - for example...I had damaged a WATERPROOF watch by wearing it while I washed my hands! In reality, he had not closed the case completely. My second visit has left me, once again, with a failed part - the spindle that he put in my watch band was too short and came out. Obviously, it was not the correct part for this particular band. I will not give his shop another try as he obviously doesn't use quality parts NOR offer good customer service! read more

I must have caught this store on a bad day. I thought the work they did for me was over-priced. Very nice Uncle and Nephew family run store, friendly folks; and I like to stop in every month or so and talk about old watches (they have interesting pieces!). But, if I were you, I would make sure to get an estimate and shop around prior to having repairs done. A small store like this should provide superior service above the mall retail stores and I did not experience that. But, they ARE a great couple of guys! :) I just shudder to think of the cost for truly intricate repair work. I recently brought in a small bracelet to have a charm attached. I provided the charm, the sterling silver "jump ring" and it took 2 minutes to fasten it and I asked if they could silver solder the ring closed just for safety. I picked it up a week or more later and the charge was $30. I was shocked. The amount of silver solder used to close the minuscule gap was comparable to the head of a pin. I've done similar soldering before and it would have taken 90-seconds and used little material. We had planned to bring them more work, but Watch Pocket is just too expensive. We ended up taking two of my large silver men's rings to Dulles Town Center and left one with one retail jeweler and the other with another for comparison. Sizing the rings up from 10 to 13 required a lot of solder flowing and smoothing work on a broad shank and a significant amount of added silver. Charges were $25 and $28 and the work was flawless. I know a small business owner has to keep the lights on, but this charge was just waaay too much, especially for someone who frequents the store. Lots of other choices in the area, so as nice as the guys are, I won't ever return or recommend their work. read more
