Came with my family on a family vacation. We were served by Dani, and she was lovely and perfect. I ordered a mid-rare rib eye and it came out more on the medium side. I ordered the stuffed quahog and it had jalapeños in it, completely disgusting to my palette. Not as described in the menu. My husband ate it. The waitress was not a happy person and seemed angry to be there. She told me I could not substitute anything on the menu, like having rice instead of mashed, "oh no" the waitress said, " the chef will be angry". I ordered an appetizer and a side for my dinner. The risotto was good but the Honey Roasted Brussel Sprouts were disgusting. I LOVE brussle sprouts! They came out dark brown! I said "you killed them" to the waitress and she said they were fried. Fried to a burnt crisp of disgust. OMG don't waste your money in a place like this. They can't even roast a Brussels sprout! Hello? Roast does not mean fried! If u get reservation u have to arrive accurate in time or u ll get a lecture on why u shouldn't come 11' early. u have to wait. Even if there re tables available. It's their strange policy to discipline customers. Sure enough this unwelcoming greeting worked. our first impression was ruined. It doesn't matter how the food was and the service, but the reception was horrible. we won't go there again. This is our second time at the West End. The last time I went I thought it was fabulous but this was even better! If that could happen. The Ambiance and atmosphere is so pleasant. We went for the Sunday Jazz Brunch. We were astounded at how wonderful everything was! It was so romantic and it was a great treat. We are locals and we would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. On Saturday nights is Lori Colombo and that's our favorite time to go. Staff is fantastic and a pleasure. Even the Cape Cod coffee that is served is absolutely amazing. The brunch was astounding. Better than I've ever seen in my life. Everything was so fresh and decadent. The made to order eggs benedict was a major bonus. This is a must go place and even if you have to travel from part of the cape to get there you will be happy once you're there. I had high hopes for The West End last Saturday night. After entering and taking in the upscale finishes and decor, i couldn't wait.....my taste buds were watering. Unfortunately the restaurant did not meet all of my expectations. They missed their first opportunity to shine by skipping the bread course, in my opinion, an important first impression of the food to follow. If I am watching my carbs I will pass on the basket. I was also taken back by the servers request to recieve our entire order from appetizer to main course. She said it was to enhance our dining experience. How did she or the kitchen know how much time I wanted to take between courses? I like to take charge of my dining experience based on the evening, not the other way around. There were plenty of open tables and we we not in peak or shoulder seasons which may have constituted the servers request. My dining partner ordered the Cuban Street Brussels appetizer, I ordered the Italian Cress Salad. Both were delicious and imaginative, something that each dish should accomplish. My partner also ordered the Halibut as her main course, and I the burger. I was happy with my meal although my partner thought her meal was bland and missing creativity. The house cocktails we ordered would have been delicious if not watered down, something a previous reviewer had stated too. I may or may not patronize The West End again. The occasion will have to match their upscale food and drink prices, and if there is a next time that it will be based on my timing, not theirs. read more

We dined here on a Saturday night around 6:30. We're seated immediately and greeted shortly thereafter by Hilary, who was pleasant and engaging. Our drinks were very good. Great classy looking restaurant with valet parking...more about that later! We started with the Caesar salad, which had great flavor. My husband had Pasta Primavera, with Julienne veggies, which was very flavorful and plentiful. I had the Fried Chicken with Mac n cheese, per Hilary's recommendation. Here's where it all went down hill! The Chicken portion was large with two thighs and one leg, but it was not cooked to order. The crust was soggy, and the chicken was semi cold and dry. It had to have been sitting around for a while. The Mac n cheese wasn't bad. We did inform Hilary, our waitress who said she'd let the kitchen know. That's fine, but management should have been told as well as them acknowledging our comments. Nothing. When we get into our Valet parked car, it reeks of gasoline. I mean, open the window, horrible fumes! Clearly the attendant had spilled gasoline on hinself, but didn't change. Memorable indeed. That all being said, we believe in second chances and will try this place again. read more

My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner. I must say this is one of the best place I have dined for American food. Their service hands down was top notch! From the moment we walked in we got greeted with a big smile till we left. Our server Candi was awesome! She took great care of us. This was our first time in cape cod and I was hesitant about this place, but I'm glad I picked this place. If I ever come back to cape, The West End will be my first choice to dine. This place was gem to find. We yelped as we usually do and the reviews for both brunch and dinner were very good. We decided on this place for brunch before heading out of town. I wish we weren't leaving town that day because we would have stayed for the whole time. The band was great and loved the music. The cocktails were carefully crafted. I was a little disappointed when they brought my Benedict out as the egg was completely cooked. I don't usually send things back but this was not how an egg should be. They brought me another one and unfortunately this was also over cooked. But the manager came over and asked if I wanted something else and apologized. I wasn't sure what we had time for so I took a dessert on the house which was amazing. The food other than the egg due to a staff change in the kitchen was amazing! We came down looking to try a new place and thought it would be fantastic but the food was seasoned the same as hospital food at best. Clam Chowder was sour. Highly recommended! I had the sirloin steak with fingerling potatoes, cooked to perfection and amazing! My husband had the crab cakes, the clam chowder, and a side of mashed potatoes. He said the clam chowder and the crab cakes were the best he's ever had! Our server was so attentive and helpful, he made the experience just wonderful! Took friends to the West End for the jazz brunch last Sunday. It was the first visit for all of us. Loved the look of the restaurant. It's not a large space but it's very comfortable and is a nice blend of old and new. There is dark, rich wood throughout. The middle room was the bar area where the buffet was staged. The room we were in reminded me of a library. The tufted banquette was covered in a beautiful silver fabric. Another room had a cool tin ceiling. The brunch buffet was very good. It included all the standard breakfast items - scrambled eggs, waffles, French toast, crispy and tender bacon, breakfast pastries, fruit, homefries and an omelette station. You can also order eggs Benedict. Lunch items included a delicious prime rib, lasagne and a nice assortment of pastries. The price was $28 per person. The jazz band was good too. T So the reasons for the four star review rather than five...the wait staff was mediocre, the band was too loud, all beverages were an additional charge; coffee, tea and oj should be included, and the ladies room had a funky odor. All things that can be easily fixed. We will go back. read more

Had a really nice experience here. This place has turned over a couple of times in recent years, but hoping The West End sticks around. Our waitress was very sweet, and made great suggestions for us, including the beets with goat cheese to start. We also had chowder and lobster bisque, along with the flatbread of the day, which was a yummy short rib. All were delicious. For an entree, I had the West End salad with grilled salmon, while others had frutti di mare and grilled scallops. I also really enjoyed the special cocktail that day, a white sangria that was well balanced and still plenty strong. A really nice meal and overall very positive experience! read more

By far the most expensive and simultaneously the worst food I've had in cape cod. The best way to describe the food was cafeteria quality. The lobster in the lobster roll was clearly not fresh. It's cape cod and the lobster wasn't fresh... Awful. Everything was expensive, tiny, and poorly made. The Brussels sprouts were burnt and tiny. The best part of the meal was the tatter tots which were average at best. The swordfish, touted by waiter as the best thing on the menu, was barely edible. Wonderful, upscale addition to the Hyannis dining scene. Things went surprisingly smooth for an opening night for such a large venue. The build out is first rate with a terrific renovation. All the various spaces are absolutely spectacular. We went for wine, cocktails and a few appetizers and thoroughly enjoyed the complete experience. Our server, Emily, was friendly and efficient. Nice wine list and craft cocktails. We sampled the burrata, coppa and melon plate, the steamed pork belly buns (which were delicious, but we both felt could have used a sauce for dipping) and the lobster "escargots" , tasty lobster bites of tail and claw cooked in a garlicky wine sauce with bread for dipping. This will soon be a destination spot for all the Cape. High recommendations. read more

Has a brunch there yesterday for my friend's birthday. The reasons why they get starts- Ambience (very trendy for the Cape, especially) Jazz Drinks (everyone liked theirs, strong drinks too, my Bloody Mary was delish) The reason why 3 starts were taken off Service (took forever to take the food order and about 45 mins to bring it. As a large group we were given 2 servers but the the second server was pretty much non-existent. Took forever to bring drinks even though the restaurant was only half full) we had a baby who needed to go to sleep and we specifically asked for them to rush with taking food order and we felt like servers ignored us) Food - the Benedicts were good but nothing out of the ordinary for the place that positions itself as a la carts and so much advertised. 3 people who got stakes told us stakes were cold. That's almost $30 brunch meal that came cold. Unacceptable. Overall not a great experience and I will not be back. read more

We've eaten here many times since it's opening and have always enjoyed it. This season we've been there twice and disappointed both times. I have been told there's a new chef. He/ she has got to get it together. Also different waitstaff, which is always the case on the Cape. They need better training to be more on point. Want this restaurant to succeed as so many haven't. I should add I had the halibut and it was overcooked and dry. All the waitress said was I'm sorry. Kale salad had too much egg making it mushy. Want to give this restaurant another try. read more

We have dined around the world; from Sao Paulo to Dubai, London, Tokyo, Paris, LA, Shanghai, Barcelona, etc. I always thought my best experiences were at Vong in NYC and a small trattoria in Florence (name long forgotten). This meal was the equal if not better. The menu is creative without being stupid. All of the components of each plate complimented the other. The flavors were full and well blended. We picked The West End as our "special" dinner out while on vacation and were sadly disappointed. The atmosphere and decor are great. Nice looking spot. But we were underwhelmed with our server (someone from the kitchen delivered our main course and we didn't see our server again until we were all finished. Her explanation: most of her tables were on the "other side" of the dining room??) Other servers seemed to be much more experienced so maybe it was an off night. If the food had been amazing I probably wouldn't have minded that it was about 30% overpriced. But it wasn't. Not a good value, even for a special night out. read more

Definitely the place to go for a fancy dinner or cocktails and desert date night. Ordered the cleverly named "Tequila Mockingbird" and was able to taste how fresh the ingredients they use are-- it was delicious! My partner and I had already had dinner so we just stuck to drinks and cocktails, but will definitely be going back for a full meal. Then for our entrees we had a swordfish special and herb roasted filet mignon, which were both cooked perfectly! The services was also great. What a phenomenal place on the cape! We were looking for amazing cocktails with a modern speakeasy vibe, and we found it!! Our bartender, Paul, took amazing care of us by crafting us beautiful cocktails and engaging us in some friendly conversation all evening. We sampled bourbons and whiskeys and ate to our hearts' content. The goat cheese and beet appetizer was creamy and wonderful and the lobster roll was buttery and warm and overflowing! We also had the buttermilk friend chicken with mac and cheese and it was heaven. The West End has automatically become a new tradition for my wife and I. We can't wait to come back on the weekend and listen to some live jazz with drinks in our hands! read more

Loved my second experience at The West End. I came once before for a quick drink at the bar. The bartender was knowledgeable and happy to accommodate slight changes to the drinks on their menu to fit my preference. On the second visit, I sat in the lounge with live jazz. Let me begin by saying that all the warning signs were there...and I chose to ignore them. In most instances; when a restaurant resorts to utilizing Groupon to attempt to build customer traffic....it's not a good sign. On January 26, two friends and I chose to have an early dinner at The West End.. We pulled in to a nearly empty parking lot at 5 PM to discover...Valet Parking?? A wonderful convenience when dining in downtown Boston; a total absurdity in mid winter Hyannis. Rather than making your life easier and more convenient, this ridiculous practice takes an extra ten minutes of your time...all while your vehicle is parked by the attendant 30 feet away in the exact space that you had originally parked in. As it was an early dinner and also due to the very narrow menu choices, all 3 of my party chose "The Noble Burger". Claiming to be 10 ounces of grass fed beef, IMHO...this burger is obviously made from frozen, not fresh beef. Ordered medium rare, the burger was dry and relatively tasteless despite the fact that I had asked for the addition of blue cheese. Let me add that the blue cheese was in itself totally inadequate...a mere sprinkle on the burger. Here is where it really gets interesting. Check the menu of The West End and you will find that for $18 your Noble Burger does NOT come with cheese, you must pay an additional $1 to add it to your burger. Upon receiving the check, I noticed that each of the burgers that had been ordered with blue cheese had an additional line item on the bill denoted as "Blue Cheese Sprinkles"...$3 extra per burger. I was horrified...I spoke to our waitress and mentioned that cheese was clearly indicated as costing an extra dollar, not three dollars. She checked with management and returned to our table saying that blue cheese is more expensive than any other cheese and that the $3 charge must stand. Here was an instance of clear deception by the restaurant and yet they would not make it right for the customer. In closing I have two words for would be diners thinking of trying The West End.....STAY AWAY! read more
