My ABSOLUTE favorite restaurant/bar in Hudson valley. Amazing craft beer selection, awesome menu, great burgers and cool Mac and cheese selection on Mac daddy Thursday. They are generous with letting you sample a couple beers before ordering a full pint. Also recommend the perogis. Yea, the location is a little seedy but once you are inside you"ll forget about it. The atmosphere of the Wherehouse was very fun and relaxing. Looooved the waitstaff. They were very friendly and none of them were texting their friends while serving me. Loooved the choice of beers. The menu had a couple too many choices. Burgers looked great but i got a chicken sandwich. All the ingredients were fresh. NO frozen reheated crud. Oh and the corn fritters were the best I've ever had. The only con was the bill. It's not in the greatest area but the food is good. I had the Crime Scene Burger (a burger with Swiss cheese and a Portobello mushroom), medium-well, with fries and a beer. The burger was juicy and delicious but the fries were a bit soggy. The beer was fine and they have a lot of variety. It's a small place so it might get a bit crowded, but not while I was there. read more

This is such a sweet little spot in the City of Newburgh! This turned out to be the perfect spot for an early afternoon lunch date! It was nice to have the place entirely to ourselves, since we beat out the evening crowd! Good atmosphere but the service was terrible. My girlfriend and I ordered dinner and both of our orders were messed up after waiting an hour. When our food did come out both our burger buns were stale! At one point there wasn't a bartender or waiter in sight to pay our bill. The Wherehouse is one of the finer points of the lower Broadway section of Newburgh. The food is always good, they have great selection of wings and burgers. A very casual place to eat. With Tuesday Tacos and Wednesday Wings they have great deals. They're selections of beer on tap is always changing. It's a relaxed environment so don't except timely service though all of the staff is friendly and nice to talk with. read more

We had the Bistro Burger and The Razorback. They both were awesome, the sides were enough to not even need the entree. Definitely a place to go when your hungry and want a comfortable atmosphere. Our waiter Miguel was super helpful figuring out a good choice as they have something like 20+ burger choices all of which are delicious. What a fantastic and delicious gem to find in Newburgh. Went here today for lunch with a group of friends. Super friendly staff and quick service. They have a great selection of drinks and American/bar food. For this kind of dive bar which is quirky and grungy (in the best way) the food was exceptional. We ordered the pulled pork nachos to share. Honestly best nachos my friend and I ever had. There was no shortage of cheese or meat and it was a great serving size. The wings were classic and crispy with a touch of heat and they incorporated rosemary which was fantastic. The Soul burger, cooked to a perfect medium was topped with mac and cheese. The food quality was great and the service was superb. Would suggest this place to anyone visiting the area and looking for a place to go. Also awesome atmosphere. read more

This is tops. So many great burgers and homemade fries. All the appetizers are incredible. Baja fritters and nacho platter are phenomenal. Atmosphere is great with live music. Excellent options to choose from for something to drink. Barnyard burger is my go to but everything is very good. Get there early to make sure you get a table. read more

This is the best vegan/vegetarian option in the Newburgh, Wallkill, area we have found. Everyone was so friendly. They even accommodated us as far as my hubby being vegetarian and I being vegan, making the veggie nachos split down the middle so we both could eat it. The atmosphere was spot on and the decor was very cool with all the records on the wall. The main course was delicious but so much food we have enough for another meal each. This was my second time in this place. The first time was a Saturday afternoon and everyone was attentive and the food was great )hot and fresh). However, went tonight and took an hour and fifteen mins to get a beer (after I went to the bar). The waiter was very nice but overwhelmed. This place is understaffed, the food arrived and it was cold and I'm not even sure if I was served a gluten free burger. They always say first impressions are lasting impressions and this was an awful first impression for my husband. I traveled 40 mins for awful service and I'm scared of Newburgh! read more

Went there on a Saturday night because all the riverfront restaurants had a 1 to 2 hour wait as we were a party of 10...this place was close so we tried it and now will make it a place to go back to. Just stopped in after work for a beer and a burger. Went to the bar for a beer. Waited quite a while to get served; used that time to take a good look around. After eyeing the food coming out of the kitchen and the lack of cleanliness of the bar area I totally decided against ordering food. This place is not epic or a shining star. You seriously have to consider wether to go there after dark. I'm not being a hater; just wanted to give a honest review after reading some of the 4 and 5 star reviews for this establishment. 1 or 2 stars is really much more realistic. read more

Wild Wing Wednesday...the ginger orange wings are the best! They cook the chicken to your liking and they're very generous with the sauce. I live just a block and a half away, but just went for the first time a few weeks ago. Shame on me. The desserts aren't on the menu, but I had the chocolate lava cake. It tasted like it had been frozen. I didn't enjoy it all. So, I fed it to my niece and Godson. Still, the Wherehouse is deserving of 5 stars, from my one experience. read more

Stopped here last night. Been here before a few years ago and it was ok. Good selection of beers. My how things have changed. Service.....to call it pathetic would be a compliment. I had my three year old son with me and when I asked if they had a kids menu the waiters reply was " yeah, kinda sorta, not really.....what did you want" he did get him chicken strips and fries however so there is the lone star rating. He spent more time talking to the bartender and someone at the bar then checking on our table. We could hear the bell ringing from the kitchen and watched as he ignored it to continue his conversation. The food.....yikes. We got wings and pierogies as app's. Wings were ok, but servings Mrs. T's pierogies well that's just sad. The only thing worse was my hockey puck burger. If you can't make a fresh patty, well then chances are everything else there is a frozen premade CIsco product. I have no doubt nothing will change here since the owner was in the establishment while we dined and he spent more time outside smoking then overseeing his patrons to ensure a quality meal. Won't go back here again......I can buy bubba Burgers and Mrs. T's pierogies at the grocery store. read more

Tonight was at least the 10th time I've been to The Wherehouse and it was probably the most disappointing of the lot. The service is always slow, even when my friends and I are the only ones in the place, but tonight was just sad. At 6:30pm on 'Taco Tuesday' the place was busy, but there appeared to be only one server (maybe two or three, but I only saw one guy ever bringing food to the tables), who was chill (as expected from TW), but maybe a bit too chill given the number of people in the place. I ordered a Zombie Burger, and 45 min later, I was handed a barely warm, not medium-cooked (as requested) but rare, burger. I returned my burger so it could be at least warm when I ate it and that's exactly what I got back: a warm burger that was raw in the middle. The portion of fries that my son and I received with our meals was anemic, at best. My other son's tacos were filled 5/6 with iceberg lettuce and grated cheese and 1/6 chopped meat. While the service and the food have never been all that spectacular, this was by far the worst experience I've had. My family and I visited tonight so that we could celebrate a family milestone and it was a disappointing experience. Honestly, I don't know that my family, nor my friends, and I will be visiting any time in the near future. I really like the ambiance of this eatery, particularly since there is always soccer or rugby playing on the TVs, but the service and food quality are just not worth the visit. The Wherehouse is a grungy little bar serving burgers, comfort foods, and beer. It is, as many other reviewers noted, in a sketchy part of town- but then again, it is Newburgh. They have an extensive burger menu with every topping you could imagine and lots of good beers on tap. They also serve comfort foods such as mac'n'cheese, nachos, hotdogs and bbq along with some vegetarian options. I was so excited to try some of the burgers and I went with a one that was topped with chorizo and pepper-jack cheese. The burger was cooked well but pretty disappointing- even with chorizo and pepper-jack cheese it was kind of bland. The potato wedges that come with the burger were not so good- they didn't seem completely cooked and they were cold. The mac'n'cheese wasn't particularly special either- seemed just like something I could make at home. I should also note that they don't serve liquor, just beer and wine. read more

Used to be good. Now just over-priced with difficult parking I wanted to know if they are open so I looked them up, wanted to know if they have gluten free options.. and they do. While I was there I though I would look to see why their rating was below what it used to be. I'm sad to say the negative reviews are not just by unsatisfiable Haters. Tuesday night 8:20 the place is half empty, 4 of us are hungry and we order appetizers and entrees. First it seems like every 5 minutes the waiter comes back to our table to tell us something else about our order they can't do (i.e. we are out of... or they have taken... off the menu) so the upshot is that we loose two appetizers (no problem we'll share) and my wife's entree is totally changed. 9:20 our food comes out ... appetizers and entree all at once. My appetizer is the hottest thing served, so I rush through my appetizer burning my tongue to get to my entree before it is cold. My guests are rushing through their food because they are totally hungry. The Po'boy was average, and only was worth finishing because my guest was hungry, those were her words. My other guest had a burger with guacamole, which was uninspired and "kinda ordinary" The nachos were the only other thing that was warm on our table. And me? Ya know what a cold greasy burger tastes like? That was my experience, and when I complained the waitress said the Kitchen closed at 9 and it was her only option to bring it all out at once. The place was not full so it seems like the problem is in the kitchen. My wife's meal was changed without asking or being notified. The people at the table next to us, after reminding the waitress twice that they were waiting for two burgers, just got up and left. I wish we had done that. The manager came by after I sent the cold burger back, she was very nice but proceeded to throw everyone from the waitress to the cook under the bus. Instead of comping the whole meal, which is what I would have done, she gave me $10 off of a $100 bill... felt like a slap in the face. Although a really good burger is hard to find, there are Alternatives to the Where house: Doug's Pretty Good Pub on Main Str. in Cold Spring makes better burgers, even 5 guys makes a better basic burger. My son and I went here for lunch before picking up some friends at the airport. Nice atmosphere, and not very crowded. Our waitress was sweet, but frequently absent. She forgot to put our appetizer order in, and when she finally came out with our lunch, it was too late. I ordered Palak Paneer, a spinach dish over pan browned potatoes. When it arrived, it was full of tofu! I asked the waitress if it said tofu on the menu, to which she replied yes. I had to switch meals with my son because I can't eat tofu due to a serious medical condition. My son even mentioned that to the waitress. When I got home I checked the menu again on line, only to see that there is no mention of tofu in this dish. Being a vegetarian, I had high hopes for this place based on their website boasting many nice vegan/vegetarian options. Disappointing. read more
