    Ribs lollipops

Having Christmas Eve with last minute appointments, the server was the best I have encountered in my life. Explained the food perfectly, polite, offering additional portion of 4 from their 3 counts lollipop ribs which was the best I have eaten. Tender, perfectly seasoned, ordered bison steak to be split when my daughter and me wasn't too hungry without making it awkward, the elk tenderloin was delicious, almost the texture of tuna but the seared part was perfect. Fresh and ful of flavor. And the trout was sooooooo delicious, perfectly crispy skin with tender buttery well seasoned fish. Not fishy at all. Ambiance is inviting. Located inside hotel, just to the right of the lobby. My daughter told me this place is a must the next time we visit Jackson. Very well executed. Recommend!! 10 stars

Absolutely perfect! From the staff to our room, to the amenities and beyond. We loved the Wyoming Inn and would recommend it to anyone!

Surprisingly great food! Booked this last min as we couldn't find anywhere else for a reservation close to Christmas. Was not busy. Staff was very knowledgeable and enjoyable. Food was great!!

We stayed at the Wyoming Inn in Jackson and the Whistling Grizzly is the small, cozy restaurant in their lobby. Naturally, we thought we would eat there the evening of the day we flew into town but would venture out to try other restaurants the rest of the week. Were we wrong about our thinking. The food, atmosphere and service here are top notch, and did I mention the food? We ate all but two dinners here all week and every breakfast except one all week. Of the food we tried--the elk tenderloin, bison burger, cowboy pops, summer market salad, mushroom soup (w/blue cheese and other delectable ingredients), orange creme brulee and carrot cake, we absolutely loved every single dish. Some of these dishes we ordered multiple times during our stay. All of our breakfasts were very good as well. What is a non-negotiable requirement if you eat at Whistling Grizzly is eating the carrot cake. I have tried many carrot cakes in my lifetime, and I have an exceptional recipe for a carrot cake I make, but hands-down, this was our favorite carrot cake. We either ordered it for dinner or carried it up to our room to eat later almost every night. The cake is moist, not too sweet, and has the perfect blend of spiciness and sweetness. Um.it.is.heavenly. We wish we had a piece of it right now, in fact.

This is a restaurant inside a hotel. The lobby is elegantly cowboy with moose antlers for chandelier, leather furniture, stone fireplace, and beautiful pictures of the Tetons. We walked in without reservations, but they were able to sit us on the side facing the window.Prices were high, servings were small, but food was excellent so it's all worth it. Wyoming Cowboy Pops, braised beef short rib, very tender and flavorful Lemon seared Idaho Trout with rice pilaf, it was just OK, not as fresh as hoped. Kurobuta Pork Rack with sweet potato purée and brussel sprouts, cooked to perfections  Carrot Cake topped with warm cream cheese frosting, this was the star of our dinner as it was one of the best carrot cake we've ever had, very different texture in that it was crunchy and fibery to show off the carrot as the star ingredient and complimented perfectly with the fluffy warm cream cheese.

The Whistling Grizzly isn't what she used to be. I'm sad to report that we will not be returning to WG on future trips. Two steaks at our table were over seasoned with salt, the salads were meh and I didn't see a point in finishing the desert. Lackluster is the best way to describe our meal. That is not our normal experience here. Do not order the flourless chocolate cake. You'll be disappointed if your looking for a dense, sweet desert. This was spongy, no flavor. The Astoria salad was the highlight of my meal.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. One of our top five restaurants we've visited while traveling. The wait staff was just spectacular and really made this a wonderful experience. Appreciated the humor thrown into the service. Food was just as outstanding! Everything was cooked perfectly. I really appreciate a place with a smaller menu which this place has. They also don't give you the option on temp levels because they know the absolute perfect temp for the best flavor profile. You can tell they pride themselves on what they make and they will not "kill" a precious piece of meat aka cook it over medium. If you like your meat well-done, this is not your place. What a wonderful hidden gem in the Jackson Hole area. Make a reservation and you won't be disappointed. Yes, prices are high as is common in the area but you get what you pay for.

Came here based on Yelp's recommendation and had a great experience. We had two different salads, trout and pork chop. They all came out great. Both trout and pork chop were delicious, same were the sides. Our waiter was very friendly and gave great recommendations. Will definitely come back again.

We were too tired to go out for dinner our first night, so we decided to eat in the hotel. Were we glad we did! I had the trout, and my husband had the grouper. Both were excellent and served with a gorgeous presentation. Then came dessert. The flourless chocolate torte was good, but it's very dark chocolate so not as sweet as you may be expecting. The carrot cake was fabulous!!! I've never had carrot cake as good as this. Drew was our server and he was awesome. Made great recommendations and took great care of us.

This is a not-crowded place, on the quieter side. The service is nice, and gives good information about the food. We ordered the lamb, the Utah trout, the elk tenderloin, the Astoria salad, and the soup special (mushroom fennel purée). The soup was amazing, and was a great start to my dining experience here. The lamb was delicious with the risotto and parsnips. It was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The elk meat had a yummy huckleberry sauce with it. For dessert I had the carrot cake which was dense but very moist. I would come here again, it was very tasty!

Before we visited, I tried Open Table to make a dinner reservation but they were all booked up on the dates we were going to be in town. So, here's a tip: call the restaurant directly and ask if there are any openings. I called them directly and the gentleman booked a reservation for the four of us within minutes! Whistling Grizzly is located inside the Wyoming Inn of Jackson Hole. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, like other restaurants, about half of the tables were left open so that social distancing between patrons could be maintained. Thankfully, they were able to provide inside dining - unlike CA restaurants which are currently limited to take-out or outdoor dining. The interior of the restaurant was warm and inviting with a wilderness vibe: heavy tables, wood and leather chairs, wildlife and landscape pictures on the walls, midwestern carpeting designs. The staff were really friendly and attentive. They checked on us throughout our dinner and provided suggestions on what to order. Our family tried the following for dinner: - Grilled Lockhart Hanger Steak with garlic potato puree, grilled asparagus, and chimichuri - Lemon Herb Seared Idaho Trout with rice pilaf, tomato caper coulis, Dukkah -Wyoming Bison Burger: 8 ounces of fresh ground bison, heirloom tomatoes, iceberg, brie, crispy onions, smoked hickory aioli, fries - Kentucky Mule: Buffalo Trace, Ginger Beer, Lime The steak was cooked to perfection: rare! And it was exactly how my husband likes his steaks. He loved his dish and thought the chimichuri sauce was delicious with the steak and potato puree. The trout was absolutely delicious: the fish was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. Plus, the rice pilaf, sauce, and seasoning really complimented the trout. Often times, restaurants overcook fish and no sauce or seasonings can make it better. The bison burgers were really good, too. Bison is leaner than beef (and something we're not as used to) but the combination of toppings made these burgers taste oh.so.decadent. And the fries were nice and crispy. The Kentucky Mule was also really good with a nice balance of bourbon and ginger beer.

What service! We were greeted instantly by our server (who I think is also in ownership? Not sure) and we were sat by the warm fireplace. We don't drink alcohol, but he made us a virgin margarita and it was fantastic. We started out with the potato leek soup, and to be honest, we didn't like it, so we were nervous about the rest of our meal. We decided to order the ribeye special with smashed Yukon potatoes. It was a giant boneless steak from never never ranch wyoming, so we had the chef split it for us. It. Was. AMAZING. One of, if not THE best, steaks we've ever had. The potatoes and gravy were phenomenal and we savored every last bite. Absolutely a dream come true! For dessert we ordered the huckleberry panna cotta which is made with a cheese instead of cream; giving it a more tart/sour flavor which was intriguing and paired well with the berries. It's was interesting, with the steak being as phenomenal as it was, I would have expected table cloths at the tables at least. I think that would really elevate the space and thus, the experience. We weren't expecting too much when we walked in, but we're happy to say the food and service made up for what the ambiance lacks. We would come back again, especially for anything meat related!

I would venture that the Michelin guide would consider adding The Whistling Grizzly to their roster of recommendations. All three entrees, and the flourless torte, were each an expertly crafted balance of flavors, only just falling short of bringing one to a journey beyond the palate, leaving you to focus on your company's silent satisfaction, the ultimate compliment of the best dining experiences. The staff was very pleasant, and you can even buy the kitchen a round to express your thanks!!

It arrived at the table, he removed the steak from the extremely hot salt block and each piece he placed back on the salt block before eating. I actually did the same with several pieces of my steak. I was amazed at the additional flavor this salt block added to an already delicious filet! Our shared sides were very good, too. The vibe here is super cute and full of character -- I took so many pictures because the decor alone makes this place worth stopping by. We came in with a pretty large group of about 20 Baddies, and even with the crowd, the staff was quick and friendly. Some of our group stayed here while others headed out to eat, but this was the perfect little spot to relax, people watch, and hang out with the locals. They've got pool tables, bar seating on both sides, and round tables if you just want to sit, chat, and enjoy your drinks. Definitely a fun stop while visiting the area! The food was good, service was nice.. but it wasn't anything super special. I would say the food overall was a 7/10. We got the Brussels, a Wedge Salad, roasted beets & Shared a 12 oz steak. Brussels were just roasted with light seasoning, I think they needed to add some sort of cheese like blue cheese or goat cheese! It would have tasted much better! I think the best thing we had were the mashed potatoes lol Came just to say we've been!
