We have a few family staples; pancakes, b&g, hash browns, omelet's -- The Virginian has never disappointed. Consistent good grub is what makes it work! Today we showed up a little late for a Saturday and had a half hour wait -- well worth it. I couldn't believe the number of people coming in to check on wait times. If this place was three times the size they'd keep it filled. It was surprisingly hard to find places that serve pancakes, oddly, so I was happy to find this place. Walking in, we had a very little wait before we were seated. The ambiance reminded me of a local Cracker Barrel, with old pictures and knick-knacks on the walls. Ordering food took a bit, but the waitress was kind. Our food came out fresh and tasted great! My pancakes were a really good size and were perfect. They were so big I couldn't eat them all. My bacon was cooked well; it wasn't soggy or burnt. The other food at the table was pretty good too. We had gotten some salsa on the side and it was flavored well, which we were excited about since we're from AZ. It wasn't very spicy, but I'm sure this could fluctuate a bit. The Virg on Broadway is a popular local spot for some good, gilling and hearty breakfast. The Virg fishes up generous portions too. I ordered the french toast. I underestimated the size of the breakfast. 3 thick slices of crisp golden toast fills your stomach pretty quickly. It started off not bad we went on a Tuesday around 10 am and had to wait 10 min which I really don't mind. We got seated and got drinks right away that's a plus. But when it came to our server JACKIE.....I really did not enjoy her service at all. When she was taking our order it felt like I was in the military. Very fast and harsh. We waited very long for our food to the point where people after us were getting their food and a couple that was seated no more than 5 min before us were damn near done with there food while my friend and I were still waiting. You might be asking what we ordered. We got full order of biscuits and gravy and I got huevos rancheros. Nothing super crazy in my opinion idk. And we finally got our food after 30 min and it was good. The food was good overall. We wanted to get a cinnamon roll to go and we had asked Jackie when we first ordered but she was persistent that we order it at the end of our meal. After we finished our food we really had to leave and we wanted a to go box and still no Jackie in sight. We had to ask a busser for the box. Then AGAIN WE WERE WAITING FOR BILL and eventually we were just fed up and went to the front to pay. We just wanted to pay and leave at this point but that's when Jackie said that she has our cinnamon roll?! And she MADE us pay for it even tho we never ordered it at the end like she said cus SHE NEVER CAME BACK TO CHECK ON US. We said we didn't want to anymore and she said "well we made it already u have to pay for it". My friend just paid for it cus we NEED TO GO but I'm furious. Idk if it cus I very much look Hispanic and not from Wyoming, But I hope not concerning there's plenty of Hispanics that work there. Delicious breakfast spot in Jackson. It gets pretty busy so get up early! The staff was nice and quick. It's a cozy environment. It definitely reminds me of southern comfort breakfast. I got the Huevos Rancheros and it was delicious. I didn't even have to add hot sauce to it, that's how good it was. My friend got the chicken fried steak and thought it was okay. It's a little dry. I was so disappointed in my French toast. their homemade bread which was not made properly. it was baked before it had completely risen. it was soaked in egg mix and not cooked it was so soggy it out of 3 pieces I ate possibly a third of one piece. We never saw the server until we were finished eating what we could. We told the server about my food and she flat out said "you ate all of it" I told that I hadn't and asked her talk to the manager which is probably the owner. She came and said she took it off. I thanked her and then when reviewing the bill they had charged me for 2 of the 3 pieces. So I got up from table and went to talk to manager. I said excuse me but I was only able to eat less than 1 piece she was as rude as could've been. Stating you. Fucking ate it all. As a restaurant manager myself I would never speak to a customer the way she did. I truly wish I could leave a negative review between the service, food and manager the entire experience was just awful. We were excited to go there based on reviews. But after our dining experience I truly believe are a scam if lies and deception a product of probably family and friends creating fake reviews to boost sales of their extremely overpriced, menu items and hideous food. read more

The service was friendly and prompt. We got there at the right time as it filled up very quickly. Bring your appetite as the servings are quite large though it didn't help that we started with the massive cinnamon toll (which was amazing, and I'm not much of a sweets guy). The omelet was greats the pancakes were fluffy and the coffee was hot. It was a bit loud but that's really the only complaint. Busy place! They were quick to seat me (everything is tables -- no counter) and take my drink order. Coffee appeared quickly. The menu has all of the bases covered: eggs; meat; potatoes; pancakes; french toast; etc. I ordered the french toast meal, which includes meat and eggs. Those French toast slices are HUGE pieces of bread! No "triangles" at the Virginian!! Frankly, it's too much food. (They offer a "half-order", and I would go with the smaller size next time.) The bacon was lovely -- I do appreciate a place with good bacon. I ordered one biscuit and gravy on the side in order to sample it. It was fine -- not something that I would order again. Atmosphere is pretty basic. Total bill was $29 (excluding tip). Plenty of free parking. read more

Just what the Doctor ordered! We camped in the rain the night before in Idaho on our adventure ride through the Northern Rockies, and skipped breakfast in order to get some miles behind us on our way to Flaming Gorge. The Virginian appeared in Yelp and drew us in. A great cross section of Americana was eating here, and I guess we were just another facet of that in our riding gear...We were pleasantly greeted and seated and both decided on the open face Turkey and Beef sandwiches.......outstanding choices...both were excellent...The waitress and other waitstaff were pleasant, as well. We stopped by the Virginian for breakfast, yesterday. It was about 1030 and there were only 3 other parties, seated. There were several young staff members hovering around the kitchen entrance, joking around--and seemingly occupied. Since there weren't many customers in the dining area, we didn't think much of it. After our server took our order, 15 minutes passed. No food yet. Since the host seated us with a clear view of the kitchen, we noticed the cook had just placed our order on the raised metal counter in the kitchen. More than 5 minutes later, our food hadn't moved from the counter. We signaled to one of the hovering staff who dropped by, but didn't speak English. We got the attention of another staff member who spoke broken English and explained that we could see our breakfast in a holding pattern. He went back in the kitchen area, and after another couple of minutes, our server showed-up with our food The pancakes were very tasty albeit noticeably lukewarm. The eggs were good although the bacon was undercooked. Thankfully, our apologetic server graciously brought us a perfectly cooked batch of bacon just a couple of minutes later. I'm only providing this feedback because I truly want this business to succeed. IMHO, what we experienced can be easily addressed by instituting a more effective training program as well as hiring an "active" manager who has the insight and oversight to make the Virginian the envy of other similar businesses. read more

These folks are cooking breakfast perfectly! Eggs over-easy were done perfectly! Too often they get broken and/or overcooked, but not at The Virginian. Bacon was nice and thick, good flavor and also cooked perfectly. The biscuit was so incredibly tender and full of flavor that it didn't need the sausage gravy, but based on other reviews I had to have it. Something beyond the food was the atmosphere. I don't think I've ever been greeted so warmly other than favorite restaurants at home (California) where i go often, and they do it in a way that comes across sincere. This includes my waitress, can't recall her name now as it's been a couple days and I'm bad that way, but she was friendly and on top of everything!! She anticipated my needs. The Virginian is a no-frills local breakfast joint that is clearly a local fav. As I stopped in for breakfast, I waited for a table among friendly townies that all seem to know each other. The Corned Beef Hash was an absolute win. I expected typical "cubed" potatoes and beef- similar to what you'd get in a can from the grocery. In reality the dish is a lovely combination of shredded potatoes and corned beef that made for a wonderful base for my eggs. I wanted to get some biscuits and gravy as well and our server recommended a great hack: order a biscuit instead of toast and get a side of gravy. Cheaper and a better personal portion vs. ordering a half order of biscuits and gravy!
