We are staying at the Dagny Hotel across the street, and decided to grab dinner here after a long, exhausting day. I was surprised that the place was empty except for one table at 7:30 on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately. It's a pretty place, with twinkle lights in the windows, two bars, and white upholstered chairs. If looks like there is patio seating, but it was not set up on this chilly, rainy evening We ordered three cocktails, calamari, and an Italian flatbread. All of them were really quite good. No complaints on the food. What I didn't like was the pushiness of the server. When I ordered my cocktail, he asked if I had a preference for tequila. I said no that I would be happy with the house tequila. He continued to push an upgraded tequila, and even after I said no, he kept going trying to sell me on the organic (I think that's what he said) tequila that was "not that much more." He did the same thing with hubby, and the people that came in afterward. It was like he was earning a commission. When we were done eating and said we were stuffed, he asked if we wanted dessert. We said no. He kept pushing, asking if we were sure we didn't want the "whatever." It went downhill from there. Their Internet went down after we gave them our credit card. They did let us know there was an issue with their machine, and we understand these things happen. We waited. And waited. And waited. Finally the girl comes over to say someone was on his way to fix it. We were still trying to be understanding. They would occasionally say "sorry" while we waited. Finally, a well-dressed man with his date, who may have been the owner or manager, walked in and went behind the counter to work on the register. This is where I I lost my understanding nature. The owner/manager/person in charge of the register never even looked our way. The girl behind the bar brought us a ticket and said "just add your gratuity and we will run it offline later." That was after were gave them our credit card and had to wait 35 minutes. No person in charge apologizing. Or even acknowledging that we waited 35 minutes for then to run our credit card. We eat at a lot of restaurants. Seberal every week. Sometimes things happen, and we get that. How the restaurant responds is what's important. Between the salesman/server and the credit card debacle, I was left shaking my head. The food was pretty good, but not good enough to save my opinion of this place read more

I found this restaurant here on yelp. It was close to the hotel in bBoston we were staying at. In the summer they have outdoor seating. The restaurant/bar is cozy inside. We had an early reservation, 5:30 but really didn't need it. We were seated at a table for two. It was a very comfortable little bar. We ordered wine and olives and bread to start. Large portion of olives. They were good but could have been better room temp or warmed up. I had to ask for the bread it wasn't served with the olives. We were offered still or sparkling water. I should have just asked for tap as the water here is good and the bottle of still water was $9.50... my husband had the bolognaise and it was a true bolognaise sauce. They say their pasta is home made but that didn't seem the case to me. I had the Shrimp Fra diavoli. It was very good with plenty of shrimp and spice. One of our favorite restaurants in Boston!! My partner and I have been coming here 1-2x/week for about a year now, and the food is always delicious and most importantly consistent, and the staff is now family. Cozy restaurant in FiDi, with options to sit in the lounge (at a couch), at a table, or at the bar (actually 2 bars). All of the food is solid; but our favorite things on the menu are the clam chowder soup (best in Boston), buffalo chicken (and blue cheese) pizza, creamy tomato soup, classic wedge salad (blue cheese, red onion, tomato), chicken parmesan, and the bolognese pasta. All are a 10/10. The staff, Brandi, Kaci, and Adam, are all very nice and really accommodating. The owner David makes this place one-of-a-kind. This place was really great. Went here because of all the local reviews and it did not disappoint. Great service, the clam chowder was the best I had all week (and I went to several claiming to be the best). I got the ceaser salad pizza (very good, fantastic crust, rich and creamy) and my husband had the hamburger- nicely done. And with a bourbon ketchup made in house. We also were offered still or sparkling water right off the bat which was a nice European touch. Wish we lived closer, would have loved to have come back! I work in the area and a coworker suggested this place. I went there and ordered the wings and calamari. First I thought the price was cheaper everything came out to 36.38 which is ridiculous considering the amount of wings and calamari they gave me 6 wings I asked for ranch on the side and the calamari should have came with aoli which it didn't. It was top notch and wife felt so special as the mother to be. Service was perfect. The owner was hands worked with us on everything making it super easy. If one door doen't work, try the one next to it. There are actually three entrance options to Vintage Restaurant and Lounge - two on Broad Street and one along Custom House Street. But be careful of the slight step. I visited Vintage Restaurant and Lounge twice in one week. The first for an early dinner of Eggplant Parmesan $22 (Fresh Mozzarella and Hand Cut House Made Pasta). For that meal I sat in the back dining area where it was calm and quiet, rather than in the front bar area where several people had gathered after work. My red sauced linguine was topped with five round slices of eggplant breaded with a crispy crunchy coating, with a melted blanket of mozzarella. Since I'm one of those healthy-unhealthy eaters who like a bit of eggplant with my deep fried breading, I liked the eggplant parmesan, although the red sauce accompanying the dish wasn't particularly to my taste. For lunch, I had one of their Grilled Chicken Caprese Sandwich $15 (spring greens, herb pesto, fresh mozzarella, tomato, balsamic redux) at the bar. Generally, I am hesitant to order chicken, as it is often overcooked and dry. That was not the case here! Personally I liked that it was a thinner cut of chicken rather than a whole thick chicken breast, but then I like some meat with my veggies. The tomato could have been firmer and more flavorful, but perhaps it wasn't quite that time of the year yet for the fresh local produce at the time of my visit. The fries were tasty, but not as crisp as I like. But they were able to bring me honey mustard in addition to the ketchup which had come with the meal. Service here both times were offered by the same personable gentleman, who somehow had to manage both the bar area and the dining room customers. He also politely held the door for my exit on my first visit. That's actually why I ended up consuming my dinner in its entirety... I was considering throwing in the towel and having the last two pieces of eggplant parm boxed up for later, but with no one within eyesight to flag down, I decided that well, I could manage it. They accommodated our every need, made us some very nice drinks and even made us pizzas, even though we came very late in the night. It was a private class with just our group of 8 where they give some general education about cocktail making, quality of liquor products, etc and have you make 3 cocktails on your own. A favorite "go to place ". I happened to live next to this wonderful establishment. Delicious food. Excellent waitstaff , very knowledgeable and willing to chat. Even if you are alone, there is always someone to talk to. Owner and manager are usually on the premises and quickly, yet professionally, become friends. They are intensely interested in their customers, making them feel very welcome. The chef often delivers your food and comes back to ensure your happiness with your order. I've been coming to this place for the past six years. The staff and owner, David, are welcoming, funny, and know how to entertain their guest. The drinks are fantastic. My go-to drink is the Blood Orange Crush. They can cook a filet mignon to medium rare to perfection. The truffle fries and the filet mignon spring rolls are fantastic. The size was bigger than I had expected thinking I was getting a "personal pan". Next time I'd order one and share. One was a bit odd but I am odd so I figured I'd try it. Hmm didn't work for me with mash potato on it. However, the salmon one was delic. It had great pieces of salmon with fresh veggies and was really yummy. I also couldn't resist the ice cream. Maple Carmel with pistachio. Again, another interesting combination but ooh so good. The size again is big so it is worth sharing. The service was awesome. I met a friend and then a big party came in so it was hard to talk so they moved us and closed up the area a bit so we could hear each other. I've stayed at the Hilton across the street a half dozen times in the last year and have been meaning to check Vintage out, just had not worked out. Boy was that a mistake. I just had the best clam chowder in a very long time; no crazy ingredients, just quality ingredients and amazing flavor. Very nice staff. Food is a big miss. I ordered pasta primavera and it came out with frozen store bought vegetables which immediately turned me off. The menu states the pasta is homemade, but it definitely wasn't and the sauce also had a processed flavor. The wine menu wasn't what I expected either, mostly common wines that you see at chain stores. We didn't get dessert, but at the table next to us it looked like ready-whip and cherries from a jar were on top of the cheesecake. The only reason I can give a three star rating is because the server was very nice and attentive, the space was clean and the music matched the ambiance well. Definitely disappointing as far as the meal goes. Maybe it's a good spot for a cocktail, but otherwise I would pass. read more

Good quality late night food, after wandering around trying to find good food after 10pm. Bar menu served Sun - Wed 12:30am, Thurs - Sat 2am. We ordered a Margherita pizza and Truffle Parmesan fries. Both were very tasty. The pizza came as a thin/flatbread style crust, fresh ingredients. The fries were prepared well with a nice herb seasoning. The bourbon ketchup it came with was a bit sweet, but good. Overall very good if you're looking for quality late night food in the downtown/financial district. On a recent visit to Boston I stopped here for lunch and was greeted by the owner who still dons a suit mid day. He was also my waiter due to their slow time of year. The service was obviously exceptional and the decor cozy and modern (although the banquettes were a little worn). I started with the recommended clam chowder and It didn't disappoint. It was traditional in color and ingredients only. The flavor was rich and indulgent without being heavy. Highly recommend. They have no freezer so everything is homemade and sourced daily. The summer corn salad was divine. It hit the right notes of fresh and filling without being heavy. The dressing also complemented everything without overwhelming and hiding the fresh vegetables. I ended with the chocolate mousse and while fluffy and delicious it lacked the depth of a dark chocolate and could've benefited from some cognac or Kailua. Overall this is a great place and if highly recommend it and will be coming back. read more

You can tell by the staff how amazing and nice the owner of this place is because everyone is always so nice, helpful, and puts in effort to make you have a great experience. I have to make one comment about some of the not so great reviews. I'm not in the restaurant industry, but like Anthony Bourdain once said, most everyone starts out as a dishwasher, waitress, bartender, working 7 days a week to try to make ends meet, then you eventually move your way up to assistant manager then manager, saving up every penny to one day, hopefully, open your own restaurant. Many years later, the day finally comes when you open your own restaurant, and you are so happy and feel so proud of all the sacrifices you have made to get to where you are. Your heart is so full and excited! The first day you open, bam, negative review because someone didn't like the food...maybe it was an off night, maybe it wasn't the persons cup of tea, but due to these negative reviews, the restaurant isn't given the opportunity to recover...then they end up closing and the restaurant owners 20 years of hard work and savings is down the drain. I'm not saying not to have an opinion, I'm just saying before you rush to write a negative review, try giving the small business / restaurant a few shots. It's so easy to write a negative review, and I just truly don't think people actually know what type of impact one negative review can make on a small business. Give places a second chance, we all deserve them. The owner and the staff seem really great and the place has always been such a positive experience for me (hence why I'm writing such a long review) but it's a place worth fighting for. This is a great restaurant with a nice bar. The service was very fast and checked on us multiple times to ensure we did not need anything. It was nice because the bar was not noisy so you could actually carry on a conversation with your table. During my trip to Boston I tasted no less than 12 different clam chowders and this place was hands down was the best. My order for this took a little longer to get than expected but it was well worth the wait. This was actually made to order and not sitting around in a large pot or steam table. You could immediately tell that this was made after you ordered it by the way the potatoes we cut to be smaller and still had a chew to them, instead of getting mushy from sitting in a pot. Our server Thomas (I'm 99% sure that's what he said, it's been a few days) was excellent and our drinks came quickly. We ordered the filet mignon egg rolls to start and though they may seem pricey at first, you get 6 for 18 dollars. They were amazing. For entrees I got the steak frites (without the blue cheese) and my fiancee got a salad and the clam chowder and they were both amazing, all that was left by either of us was a little bit of lettuce from the salad. When I looked at the reviews for this place and saw how low they looked, after how great an evening that was, I knew I needed to give a 5 star review. We cannot wait to go back read more

I wanted a quiet meal so we decided to try this place. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Since it was a cool July evening we decided to eat outside. The two tables around us were both occupied (one with the owner) We agreed on doing a tapas-like meal with Boston fare. We had a lobster roll (good), fried clams (I hated) some oysters on the half-shell (great) and some white sangria (my favorite) Since the place was empty the service was perfect. We even had some time to talk to the waitress for a long while. Overall a decent place, but I am not sure if it will last based on the difference in the numbers in the place across the street. read more

Met up with some girlfriends here for after work, post-weekend catch-up drinks. We all got caught in a torrential thunderstorm right as we were heading over (thanks, Boston weather--the one storm of the day just had to be from 5-6pm) so we looked like bedraggled, sopping wet kittens by the time we arrived. Luckily, the only other people at the lounge were a raucous group of drunk investment bankers who paid no attention to us, so there was no one to point at us and laugh at our misfortune. Dripping wet, I was in the mood to be cradled by my alcohol but a Hot Toddy was kind of out of the question so I settled for the libation equivalent of hot chocolate--a thick, creamy, insanely delicious Chocolate Strawberry martini, topped with a juicy red strawberry. What it lacked in warmth, temperature-wise, it made up for in heat, vodka-wise. Mmmmm. The Tiramisu Martini was disappointingly too coffee-esque (like an iced coffee--zero chocolate) but the Lychee Pisco Sour was a delicious Asian take on a Peruvian favorite. Creamy yet tangy, sweet yet sour. And the Blueberry Pie Martini, made with Stoli blueberry vodka, Baileys Irish Cream, butterscotch schnapps and a graham cracker rim was glass-licking good. A few of us munched on some delicious Truffle Parmesan Fries while we gabbed. They were plentiful and packed with truffle flavor. Definitely worth splitting a bowl of these with friends. I wish this place were more T-accessible but if you happen to be in that State St/Aquarium dead zone and need a place to hang out and eat, drink and be merry, definitely come here.
