    Interesting.

Bottom Line: Family run diner that is worth a visit. Good food and service, but, bring a little extra cash. This place, in the heart of the charming Libertyville downtown, is run by a Greek family of which the matriarch, a lovely person, runs a very tight ship. The place has a certain quirky charm, a cross between traditional diner and touch of formal dining room with the somewhat ungainly, but at the same time, interesting, large, brass chandeliers making their presence known in the dining spaces. There's also lots of effort put into decorative arrangements in what would seem to be valuable table space (with items I really wonder how many people really buy, including some items you might find in a local market, with a very interesting mix of items, and again, wondering how many people really come there for items you can easily find elsewhere, but ok). It seems if customers were sat at the "decoration" tables, and a table or two were added, they could reduce wait times, crowding, and maybe even prices a bit with the additional revenue. We waited about 20 minutes for a table on a Sunday morning with several parties, all long time customers judging by how they were greeted which was charming in its own right. Waiting is crowded in a narrow entry hallway. Tip: Don't stand around the register waiting for your table or you'll have to deal with the owner making rounds to check on customers. When seated we were given some time to make decisions before being approached by our server. An assistant server brought coffee. When we did order some of our party asked about options but were promptly informed there are no substitutions without an additional charge--OK. I ordered the two-egg breakfast with ham off the bone. When it came out there were four eggs on the plate. I let our server know there may have been a mistake as I ordered two eggs not four. She pointed out that they double their egg orders so if you ordered one egg you actually get two, etc.! Wow! Talk about leaning into customer orientation! The meals were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Server attention was spot on--not too little, not too much, but just right. Then, the bill. Ok, with each plate nearing $20, breakfast will set you back a bit, which, I'm sorry, you have to question. The food was good but not $20 amazing in quality nor portion which is why this place will not be a regular but an on-the-radar back up every now and then. Nevertheless, overall, a positive experience.

If you are looking for tasty, homey breakfast/ brunch food in a comfy setting then look no further. Townee Restaurant has you covered. Townee is a family owned and run restaurant that serves tasty, no-frills food that hits the spot. It's sort of an old fashioned diner looking restaurant that is family friendly and is usually busy during the peak breakfast/ brunch hours over the weekend. I have been here twice. Once prior to COVID and once recently, post COVID. Their prices have changed in that time period. The omelet prices, e.g., have gone up a couple of dollars. In my two visits, I have gotten the usual breakfast dish that I get at most breakfast/ brunch restaurants- omelet and pancakes. I also ordered a side of bacon for that extra savory crunch. I ordered a gyro omelet with jalapeños (adding jalapeños was an upcharge), fruits instead of hash browns and pancakes instead of a toast and a cup of coffee. My son ordered got a kids meal of one egg made overeasy with bacon and chocolate chips pancakes (chocolate chips had an upcharge). The restaurant was semi-busy. There were a couple of tables (for two) available and a booth was just about to open up. We opted for a table. Service was good overall (a bit slow at times where I had to get up and get our server's attention but it wasn't a big deal). The food was above average, solid in taste. Nothing fancy or gimmicky. Just your straightforward breakfast meal. It did its job and hit the spot. We are full and satisfied. The restaurant was clean and well-lit. It has a back and front entrance depending on where you park. The restaurant sells baked items like cookies and pies as well which you can find by their cashier's and kitchen table counters. Strictly based on food and its pricing, I would give this restaurant 3 stars. Overall (w/ service, atmosphere) 3.5 stars but rounding out to 4. Give them a try if you haven't been before.

When you desire to take a trip back in time to a place where the owner of the restaurant greets you and welcomes you to their family restaurant, then you need to defy reality and enter Townee Square. It is simply an incredible experience and I am so grateful to be able to visit this special place. I feel a really strong sense of belonging, when I am there and it feels so good. It does a heart good to be there and soak up the atmosphere of community. Then there is the food! Where do I start... Ham that is so delicious that you wake up on Saturday morning and you're craving it! A Cheeseburger with a Sunny side up egg in it... WHAAAT? OMG, it's indescribably good! The service is fantastic, you have a Greek Owner named Christine, her Son George, and for excellent service " you better get Becka!" Emma crashes dishes better than anyone I have ever seen, Hannah and more! You need to visit this hidden Gem!

An excellent, uncrowned spot for breakfast and brunch. Good value for the money. It closes at 2pm, so make sure it's open when you want to go. Very adorable interior! It's very "classic diner", booths, counter stools, and all. They don't take reservations. The two of us came in at peak brunch hours on Saturday and were seated immediately. The place is bigger than it looks! The servers were very attentive, my coffee mug never stayed empty for longer than a minute. The menu had a lot of variety, you won't suffer from lack of choice here. I got the veggie omelet with egg whites, and it was delicious - any place that can do a broccoli omelet well is good in my book! My boyfriend got one of the skillets, and he finished the whole thing. Two meals and two drinks came out to about $35. You pay at the counter up front. We both left full and still had some food left over. We'll definitely be back!

The great western omelet, pancakes, side of fruit and a cup of coffee, soooooo good.

The food and service is fantastic, the ambiance of the restaurant feels like home. You also need to try the pastries that they make also soooooo good.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with welcome smiles and were shown to our table, already prepared for our large group. Every appetizer and entrée was delicious, spiced just right and was served hot from the kitchen. We enjoyed a variety of appetizers and especially enjoyed the Brussel sprouts salad, arancini and mushroom garlic flatbread. Everyone enjoyed their mains; however, standouts were the lasagna, lobster capellini, chicken parmesan and braised short rib. Portion sizes were ample, but not oversized. Most of the dessert selections were very rich and sweet, but perfect for those who enjoy decadent sweet treats! The cocktails were all unique and delicious, kudos to the mixologists at the bar! Our server was attentive and friendly and we enjoyed the festive ambiance and lively atmosphere. Our entire group commented on how perfect the evening was, we will definitely be back soon for the food, friendly service and delicious cocktails!

First off, they give you a free biscuit on Tuesdays, so leave room for that. I ordered the griddled ham and cheese crepe, and it's one of the most delicious breakfast items I think I've ever had. The ham is a tiny bit sweet, which balances out the richness of the Gruyère and hollandaise nicely. It's also huge-two giant crepes as big as my head! I finished one and took the other one home-it heated up really nicely. I also ordered the apple/gouda chicken sausage. The flavor was good, though a tiny bit on the dry side (which tends to happen with chicken sausage). I ordered the cookie butter latte as well, delicious and not too sweet. Service was good, even though they were pretty busy when they were there. Prices are good too, especially for how much food you get. When you pull up to the plaza you would think anything of the restaurant but when you go inside it's a fun colorful experience. When we were seated we were brought waters and menus. We took some time to look at the menus but ultimately took our server's suggestions on drinks. I ended up having a virgin Rose Colored Glasses drink and absolutely loved it. The drinks were large and I felt they were worth the price. My husband got an old fashioned. To start we got the cheese curds, and when I tell you these cheese curds still live rent free in my mind I kid you not. They were so good, the cheese was battered in a tempura batter with a truffle cream sauce and it made for such an incredible dish! For our entrees we got the pork chop with the brown butter sauces and bavette with a red wine reduction. The pork chop was great with the brown butter you just gotta make sure you mix it up, and the red wine was a bit too salty for me but it was okay because I ended up loving the steak by itself! For our sides we got the grilled zucchini under the snacks option instead of the sides option because I wanted all the fixings. It was a great choice! The fixings really made and I could eat a plate of that and just be happy (with the cheese curds of course). The wiped potatoes were great as well. Now I was going to pass on dessert because I was SO full already, but twist my arm when you tell me the cookie dough ice cream is a must try. It had real cookie dough chunks on top and bottle and the vanilla ice cream was not boring vanilla, I ate almost half of that bowl and couldn't stop. The chocolate chip cookie dough was house made and it was the perfect blend of sweet and salty that tied the whole ice cream bowl together. Can't recommend that enough as well. All in all, we had a great experience! It was so fun to see so many regulars and so many new folks who came in to dine at the same time as us and we all peeked to see who ordered what before we ordered and got some great recs as you can see! Can't wait to come back to enjoy my favorites and more!

Started with the bread and crabcakes and the bread was amazing and definitely fresh but the crabcakes needed more crab and flavor. Basically everything needed more flavor. We also ordered a bottle of wine which our server struggled with and never came over to refill the glasses. Then the entree's; my husband's bolognese was bland and desperately needed at least salt and pepper. Then the real problem was my steak which was supposed to be medium came out well done and then classically when it was recooked came out rare or medium rare if you are being generous. Then the waitress said she would check back and she didn't so I had to get salt myself from the server station which is kinda ridiculous especially when paying $54 for a steak that already has no seasoning which is why they offer free sauces which makes a lot of sense now. When she finally did come back I said it was under but not waiting for it to be overcooked again so reheating it at home with the cold side of mushrooms I ordered WITH my steak. I did talk to the manager after and he was not really helpful or sympathetic and I was really talking to him so in my review I could say well at least management cares but that is not the case here. I gave 2 stars because their drinks are good and the ambiance is nice and the hostess was super friendly and was the star employee after our visit. Also we paid for everything even the cold mushrooms and over/under cooked steak! At minimum also remake my mushrooms or comp them. Would I eat here again hopefully not but it is locationally desirable for me and my in-laws and have lots of GF options so might have to and if I do hopefully they will have made things better.

The Tocino was a little different from what I'm used to. I'm used to a slab of pork pan fried with the fat fried to a slight crunch lol. I'm also used to tocino being red in color. I guess the tocino here is a little more leaner and no artificial colors - which works for me as I'm kinda allergic to red dye. But it tasted good, very flavorful. Loved the garlic rice as well. Pancit noodles were okay - could have used a little more seasoning but I could dig it Calamansi wings were low key fire. The crisp of the wings were perfection and the meat was not tough - still nice and juicy. I would get these again.
