They also brought everything they needed for the food, including utensils, a griddle, tables, and more. I truly didn't have to worry about a thing! We had al pastor, chicken, and steak, and everything was delicious. The steak and al pastor were definitely our favorites! We highly recommend them for any event--we couldn't have asked for a better catering experience!

The restaurant is pretty small, but they packed a lot of seating into this old Subway. The booths can easily fit a group of 6, while the tables can be pushed together to seat more. There are also 3 tables outside as well. Plenty of vegetarian options, which is a huge bonus, and they have Beyond beef for those that enjoy mock meats. I had dinner here with two of my friends, and we all enjoyed our meals! We shared these yummy little horchata balls, and I had a vegetarian burrito (solid size!). I also had two, don't judge haha, classic margaritas. I wouldn't typically order a classic margarita, as I don't do overly sweet or syrupy drinks, but these were really light and yummy!! The Ay Cabron! hot sauce was SO good with my burrito, and had a nice tingle while still providing flavor. My bill came out to $36 for the three things I ordered, which is pretty decent considering how expensive dining out can be. Can't wait to dine in again to try the Chile Relleno! YUMMY!

First visit and this is some good Mexican Food. We ordered Casa Bonita Cheese Enchiladas with red…read moresauce, served with rice and beans ($16.99) and Gringo Tacos (3 beef tacos with rice and beans) ($16.99). They also brought us chips and salsa. Everything was tasty. The salsa was chunky and was a little spicier than I usually enjoy but it was really good. The cheese enchiladas were made with white cheese but they were really tasty. I prefer them made with yellow cheese but these were really good. The rice and beans were also really tasty separately and mixed together like I have always done. The Gringo Tacos were soft flour tortillas with ground beef with taco seasoning, lettuce and tomato and also very good. Service was friendly and attentive. There is plenty of indoor seating with a combination of tables and booths. There is a bar with seating for 10 and there is seating on a wrap around patio that appears to be heated if needed and has glass garage door windows that can be raised in warmer weather.

I ordered a spicy margarita with ghost mezcal, but there wasn't anything spooky or spicy about it. I know what mezcal tastes like, and this drink had none of it. My wife ordered a spicy mango margarita, but what she received might as well have been a virgin version. Imagine paying $40 for two drinks and not even catching a buzz. To make it worse, we were asked twice if we wanted another round. I politely declined, pointing out that our margaritas had no tequila to begin with. The staff laughed--not sure if they thought it was a joke or if they knew I was right. Food-wise, we tried the salmon tacos and chicken tacos. They were fine, nothing special. The rice, beans, salsa, and chips didn't add much to the experience either. Walking out with a $90 tab didn't feel worth it. I don't recommend this restaurant. Even though Milwalky Taco isn't fully authentic Mexican either, the vibe there is better. You can take a shot of house tequila, enjoy margaritas with actual kick, order a solid entrée, and leave with a warm belly--all for about the same price, but with noticeably better ingredients.

This Libertyville gem truly serves a taste of Mexico right here in Illinois. Food & Drinks: We ordered chicken and steak tacos, a chicken quesadilla, and started with fresh guacamole, chips, and salsa. Everything was absolutely delicious--the tacos were perfectly seasoned with tender, flavorful meat, and the quesadilla was cheesy, golden, and satisfying. The guacamole tasted incredibly fresh, and the chips had just the right amount of crunch. We paired it all with their signature margaritas, which are a total standout--fresh lime juice, top-shelf tequila, and perfectly balanced. Service, Ambiance & Ownership: Not only was the staff attentive and friendly, but the owner, Jose, personally came by to check on us. He's warm, welcoming, and genuinely cares that every guest leaves happy. You can tell he takes pride in both the food and the overall experience--something you don't find just anywhere. Overall Experience: Between the delicious, authentic dishes, the stellar margaritas, and the personal touch from Jose and his team, Tacos El Rey de Oro is easily one of our new favorite spots. Whether you're here for a casual dinner or a night out with friends, you're in for a treat. We can't wait to come back!
