Initial first impression, they say hi and ignore you for a while. Get asked if you want a cocktail and say not yet but we are ready to order. Waitress walks away and starts setting up other tables. Finally get to order. Wife gets the salad before her meal. Lettuce only. No tomatoes, cukes, olives, carrots, croutons or anything besides lettuce and dressing.. ITS THE SEASON AND THIS IS FARM COUNTRY. Lettuce only? Really? On to entrees, wife's fettunici with grilled prawns,PERFECT!! Nice quality too. My bacon, Swiss chicken burger PERFECT. Chef saved the night. Fries and tots were so so. We were never checked on once. Girl Wait staff has lots of room for improvement. Guy waiter that helped girls was awesome Ps. I really like this place. Been here many times, lunch mostly but dinner also. Had different burgers, always great. Fish and chips are good, my wife and I always split a four piece. They have not charged us a extra fee for this. I had a taco salad yesterday and it was awesome. Service super, good selection of beers, sports bar atmosphere. This is the best place in Canby to eat outside and enjoy a drink. I have been there three times and the food/service has always been good. That being said, to get five stars they would have to up the game a bit more on the food/service category. Its not bad by any means but has room for imprivement. read more

This restaurants been around for some time it was very busy there last night. And a bit too noisy for me. With that being said the food is really good classic American fare. Have the prime rib it was done perfectly also has some fried shrimp and that was nice too. There is outside dining which would probably make it a little quieter than inside I'm probably should have done that nice size menu with a little bit of everything for everybody this restaurant is highly respected by the local community and is supported that way too. read more

There are diners, drive-ins and dives...there are also dumps, and it is in the last category that the Wild Hare Saloon Cafe fits. This is strickly a sports bar with cheap drinks and lots of TVs to idle away your day watching various sports events. The place is really small...a dozen booth-like tables, some longish picnic tables and some high bar stool-type seating...the goal of this place is to sell drinks. I come from Montana, so I know a lot about bars and cafes...so, the following review is not from some PDX hipster... Now we come to the food part of this review. There were two of us for lunch...burgers seemed a safe bet. Generous (half-pound patties) Angus beef patties and endless frys. The first real hint that we were gonna be disappointed: no substitutions...if you want a cup of soup instead of the fries, add $1...salad, add $1.50. The soup was a "steak and noodle" house-made special...virtually no steak...just leftover veggies, flavorless broth and noodles. It seems like the broth had been thickened with a ton of corn starch slurry...pretty well a non-event. Although the waitress said that the beef patties were hand formed...I doubt this...they seemed machine-formed under pressure...very, very dense and rather tough. We ordered one burger medium and the other medium rare...we got one medium and one well-done. One of the burgers was a "Maui" burger and had ham and pineapple with provalone cheese. Absolutely zero flavor...how can you put ham, pineapple and cheese on a burger and not have any flavor? Amazing. The waitress took the order and we never saw her again...except to bring the check...the service, like the meal's flavor were non-existent. read more

Wow - pleasantly surprised! Ordered a salad with a balsamic vinaigrette and glazed walnuts (my ultimate guilty pleasure) and it was much better than expected, to be honest! As long as I've lived in the area, I don't know why I never stopped in. I guess I just thought it to be like Oregon City's Wichita (if you don't know already, you don't want to). The Oregon City Wildhare is very good, which is why we visited the Canby location on a night out. I am not one to leave bad reviews, as I have worked in and out of the industry for years. The food was not what we expected, especially coqmpared to the other location. It was bland and nothing to speak of. The thing that really got me was the servers. There was clearly one or two, possibly the bartender (we sat in restraunt), who clearly carried ALL the weight. Kudos to them! The problem I had, was they then had to share tips for the community service we had there. Mind you, we had plates cleared, and were very well attended too, but I felt badly for the EXCELLENT service we did have from the staff pulling the load. I understand that mistakes happen, but this crew was completely unapologetic about "losing" our order then miraculously "finding" it in less than a minute. This, after we sat waiting for 20 minutes (for two salads). The sw chicken salad was supposed to have (presumably warm) grilled chicken on top. If there was a choice for -5 stars, that is what I would give. On May 25th of 2018, it was my niece's birthday and her wish was to have dinner at her favorite restaurant. The waitress we were assigned started the evening off as rude, and gave the impression this was the last place she wanted to be on a Friday night. We should have left then. However, my niece wanted to stay and give the girl a chance. We ordered our drinks and food. The drink order was wrong, and again the poor attitude from the waitress shone through when she had to correct the drinks. When dinner came, the steak was way to well done when I had asked for medium rare and cold. Same for my niece. The fries were Luke warm and had the texture of sitting there a while before being served. I asked for her to please exchange the steaks for medium rare and hot. She refused and said we wou,d have to pay for the exchange. Maybe we came on a bad day for our dinner, as I have read many glowing reviews. However, I will never go back. I live in Canby and like to support local businesses, but will pass on this one. read more

Place is a hit or miss. Service has been okay in my experience and food is usually good. Disappointed in my last experience which wasn't even in the restaurant. Placed a take out order for a turkey burger. Never got take out from here, usually just eat in. Got it and it didn't have spinach or garlic mayo at listed on menu. Was a dry burger with no sauce as listed and instead had lettuce, tomato, and red onions which none of those are suppose to be on the burger according to their own menu. That sucks because the first time I had this burger it was so good and just what the menu said it was. I think whoever made it didn't really care what they were doing and weren't even thinking about it. Definitely ruined the experience for me especially to spend $14 on. read more

I was told by some coworkers to come check this place out for the burgers. I really had no idea what to expect as I didn't check out the menu or anything ahead of time. I was hoping that being a new joint, it would have some fun dishes to try, at least an interesting burger. When we got there it was surprisingly busy for a weeknight but I guess it did just open not too long ago. So that probably had something to do with the slow and sporadic service. As soon as I looked through the menu I already knew this was a place I wouldn't come back to, it's basically 50s diner food but in a more fun environment with tvs. There was nothing in the menu that even hinted at creativity so we just picked 3 dishes that are generally impossible to mess up. Sadly everything that came out was less than average. The proteins were all over or under cooked, the sides lacked any finesse or seasoning and could have come from a box/microwave. The meals were basically taken home and fed to the dogs. Maybe it was because they were busy or the cooks were new but it was upsetting to see food treated that way. They get the second star for the atmosphere and friendly staff. read more

Found ourselves here on a Saturday night after trying another newer local place down town which had NOOO seating and crappy drinks. The Wild Hare SALOON salvaged out evening which was a birthday celebration! What a great time and great food! The staff is above and beyond, hats off to whoever does the hiring there... well done! We had a couple screw ups that were no big deal at all.. just the wrong stuff or extra stuff accidentally brought to our table which was no biggie. Waitress was great.. food was all delicious. I ordered the prime rib french dip.. so tastey! The drinks were Fabulous.. we do not live int he area but that's ok... we will return! Live music too. what more could you ask for???? read more

For what it is, The Wild Hare is very good. It is probably the overall best place to eat in Canby, with very reasonable prices, excellent staff, and good food. I don't know about the evenings, but I've had lunch here probably literally hundreds of times with very few complaints. Portions are the right size... you won't leave hungry, but you won't have to be rolled out the door either. Nothing specifically stands out, but this place is solid, and the owners are local and know how to run a restaurant. read more

I've been coming to the Wild Hare since they opened and always enjoy myself. When my friends are in town we always go there. Dinner before a high school game. Of course. Drinks with my buddies watching the Beavers football games. Definitely. If you are looking for a local place to come and feel at home, and maybe even see some of your friends while you are there, this is THE place in Canby to go. Regularly have live music on the weekends, and their infamous Hare Fest is not to be missed. I feel lucky that we have such a great place in Canby. The food is always tasty and the beverages as well. Looking for the perfect Monte Cristo? Wild Hare's chef doesn't disappoint. Fried a deep golden brown, every edge sealed tight to keep the cheese melting and gooey inside, this sandwich is served with a side of jam and a heaping helping of tater tots ready for a dot of ketchup. The fish and chips is deep fried to perfection and the coleslaw is not too sweet. The wait staff is friendly and fun, paying just enough attention to every detail without wandering by too much. The place was packed...Hot Friday night and we were in a hurry so we could make a movie in an hour! We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table but we were able to order our drinks while we waited. Once we sat down, our server took our order right away and we were served our dinner in record time! We didn't even tell them that we were in a hurry! Our food was outstanding as usual. We ordered Prime Rib, Filet, Chicken Fettuccine and a Wild Hare Burger. We didn't have to wait for our check...we were done and made it to the movie on time!!
