Just had a delicious veggie burger, very home made with lots of fresh herbs and quinoa, on a whole wheat bun with fresh lettuce, tomato, and sliced onion. Very tasty and filling. It was at least a 6oz burger, maybe even 8oz. read more

Absolutely delicious! I walk by daily with my dogs and have always admired their specials in the window. On Saturday afternoon we finally popped in to have lunch/brunch. Everything was absolutely wonderful-full of flavor and super fresh. It's very casual-ordering at the counter. There is an assortment of hot foods and a fabulous menu-they also have healthy sweets-which we did not indulge in however the chocolate quinoa cupcake caught my attention. The service was friendly and attentive...if you're in a hurry this might not be for you but if you are conscious of what you consume and regard local fresh ingredients as important-stop in for a bite! :) read more

I stopped by today as I do whenever I am in the area so partake in what is truly good and wholesome food that tastes wonderful. After enjoying the coconut curry with some black beans and coconut rice I took home a few containers of "other" things. Late in the afternoon I sampled the beet salad with a nice walnut garnish and a hint of chives. The beets were amazingly fresh and tasty. I love the chicken salad and the breakfast burritos. The German sourdough bread, though not always available, is like nothing I have ever tasted. It has a thick supple texture with a briny hard crust that is a culinary orgiastic treat. Nice staff too. I wish I lived closer. I wouldn't ever have lunch anywhere else. Okay maybe sushi once in a while. read more

This is the cheapest organic restaurant I've ever been too. This is probably why I drive over 45 minuets to get there haha. This please is absolutely delicious, they make you feel as if your at home also there very kind and helpful. I wish I could say I liked True Food. Although the food was pretty good it was extremely overpriced. My main problem however was with the Owner. I don't think I have ever met anyone so rude and condescending. I had hoped it was just a bad day - but asked local friends who totally agreed. My husband surprised me by taking me and the family to True Food for Mother's Day. To start, the server was friendly, informative, and very welcoming. I am recently off gluten and eating out has been challenging, but not at True Food. The food was absolutely delicious! There were so many choices that were also night shade free (another food I'm now off of.) My gluten-loving kids had multi-grain bread sandwiches, I had a fantastic cauliflower and vegetable curry with herbed brown rice and Cuban red beans. My mother-in-law was going to play it safe with a turkey and avocado sandwich, but I encouraged her to be adventurous. She had a fish taco on a corn tortilla and loved it! It was a wonderful treat. We shlepped over the Tappan Zee from Mamaroneck to get to True Food and we will be back! read more

What a disappointment! My friend and I were excited to try it out. We both eat mainly organic, shop mainly at farmer's markets, and are used to Manhattan prices, so we have no problem paying more for quality. But this was ridiculous. First of all, there was only 1 person ahead of us, but it took nearly 20 minutes for them to serve her (putting 3 or 4 prepared foods into containers and weighing them). At that point, I didn't want to wait even longer for a fish taco, so I gave up and just got some (expensive) soup. I assumed it came with bread--doesn't soup typically with bread or crackers?--but no, if I wanted bread it was $1.75 more for ONE SLICE. My friend ordered an "entrée," because an "entrée" sounds like it comes with sides, right? No. Extra. She saw a container of rice was $4, the same size container of beans was $4, and asked if they could put half rice and half beans into the container...sure they could, but then it was priced by weight and was almost $8. The person doing the serving was actually quite unpleasant when even asked about it. Two foods are the same price, but when you get both of them they each double in price, and you're going to be rude when asked why? In the end, we walked out with a half-pint (think school milk container) of chicken stew, one of soup, one of rice and beans, and a cookie...no bread, no sides, no drink....and it was $27 and took 25 minutes. The stew was good, the rice and beans were OK, the soup was watery and spicy-hot but otherwise tasteless. Tip to the owners: give people bread with their soup, sides with their entrees, don't double the price for rice AND beans, and try to speed up the "put prepared foods into prepared containers" process. You lost 2 customers from what would be your typical organic-Manhattanite customer base, due to slow, stingy business practices. read more

not organic, not true food. some things are organic others are "all natural" and somethings are plain cooked with chemicals. they dont even have fresh vegetables.everything in the fridge sits for a few days...ask the owner about her frozen pillsbury pie topping for her "organic" chicken potpies. the food sits out in the open all day, hope you dont get sick. read more
