This is a good place to eat for a casual, mostly organic and healthy meal in Nyack. Everything is local and fresh but the service could be warmer. I like eating here for breakfast or lunch. The prices are on the high side. They have good baked goods, coffee, chai tea and some wonderful vegetarian dishes. Love the food, love the concept. I love that I can sit down and have a chemical-free, worry-free lunch. The fish tacos rock my world. The muffins are so good I actually feel sad that I cannot afford to buy one everyday. The lemon bars and the choco coconut creations are also excellent but too expensive for me to buy. I want to buy a lemon bar everyday I'm in there. I wonder why she prices them so high though. This is my logic: People who can afford to buy $3 sweets/muffins don't eat sweets, but us poor working chubby class people would walk an extra block to eat a lemon bar/muffin everyday. So $2 everyday? or $3 every once in a while? I guess I'll never understand. I know good food costs more money but sometimes I'll order a side of veggies and it's the same price as the meal. Food is pretty good here. I would like to give this place 4 stars but the prices are what's holding me back. I really enjoy their wraps and I can hardly say no to a breakfast burrito ever. It is really nice to know the food you're eating is organic and good for you, however the glaring $14 for a breakfast burrito is something I can't ignore. Randomly coming across this eatery up the hill was the best part about my ride to Nyack from Brooklyn on an overcast Monday. As far as I'm concerned, they're doing everything right. The music is good, the staff is friendly, and the edibles are fantastic. The smile of the chef won me over. Yes it's organic but the breakfast burrito has only 1 egg and little cheese - so the egg was not even dispersed across the burrito halves. Lettuce had dirt and was not washed - imagine chewing on dirt and grinding your teeth. The employees must be treated poorly. Last time I went there, I asked if salt was added to the chicken soup (I wanted to get soup for my mother who can't have too much salt). The lady said "Salt? Yes, of course there's salt. Salt is what makes food taste good." She was approaching my question like I was totally absurd. Today, I went to the counter with three containers of prepared food, expensive. I paid, this was a different lady, she said "do you want a bag?" I said yes. I soooo wanted to like this place, but the owner makes it super challenging to fully support what could be a lovely spot. The food is delicious, but insanely overpriced. I regularly eat organic and have never spent so much on lunch from a hot bar in my life. Not to mention, the owner is extremely unpleasant and two of the staff members I found to be straight up rude and uninviting. The owner has definitely earned herself a reputation around town for being unkind to customers and it wouldn't surprise me if employees are treated just as bad. You are better off at Main Essentials across the street if you are looking for delicious vegan food + good vibes. read more

Friggin awesome! TrueFoods was a GODSend. We moved from Westchester to Miami Beach 5 yrs ago and were recently back to visit family for thanksgiving. The food offerings in Westchester (with few exceptions) are NOT for the most part: LAME (let me clarify) - NOT Local, not Attractive, not even MILDLY organic and not Exciting. True Foods is an oasis (of course it is in Rockland and NOT Westchester) but still it is heavensent. We went here twice in 2 days. The food is local, organic, made with love and passion, fresh, full of vitality and energy and the owners care about what you eat and consequently what they serve you. Love the Mexican Chicken Stew and the Chicken Salad and the BLAT (a fully organic Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado and Tomato). The Golden Beet salad is full of flavor and (as another yelper said - makes you feel alive and vital). The desserts/baked goods also rock - try the Pear Streusel Muffin. This place is amazing, if you live in the area, pass thru or just want to drive somewhere decent, I highly recommend it. read more

Yum. My boyfriend is seriously obsessed with this place, and whenever I come to Nyack we go here. I love that everything is fresh and local and often made to order...you feel so healthy and good about yourself when you leave. I've had multiple smoothies, a breakfast sandwich, the veggie burger, and a wheatberry salad. I really can't say that just one thing stood out as being especially excellent, because everything was really awesome...obviously a lot of care and effort goes into everything they do. Also, I love the chef and the guy who runs the place...both are really nice and good to chat with while you're waiting to get your food, and not in a fakey, bullshit kind of way, they seem like laid back, good, genuine people. Always a plus. The downside is that it's quite expensive...one morning I ordered two smoothies and two breakfast sandwiches, and it was over $20. I am not sure why I keep coming back here. The people working at the counter are perennially overwhelmed (and say so in earshot of customers) and do not manage dealing with customers well. Just this past Sunday, I went in to get two hot beverages, an already prepared baked good, and a bottle of water. The wait was approximately 15 minutes with the two people in front of me being helped and the preparation of my hot beverage. In addition, one of the people helping at the counter came over to me and the person behind me on line and asked if we wanted to get started with anything from the hot bar. I did not want anything from the hot bar, so I said no. The person behind me said they just wanted a coffee and the employee went ahead and started making his coffee. I figured she would have said "hey, this person was before you and I was asking specifically if you wanted anything from the hot bar, of which coffee is not a part". The food is pretty good, but does not live up to the prices (oh boy the prices!). Overall, I think this business suffers from ineffective management. The time it takes to move someone from order to finish is very slow, the organization of ordering is basically a mess, and the employees never seem to accommodate any special requests (i.e., could you make me a half caff coffee, or would it be possible to substitute this for that). read more

A lot of places offer fast food, fried food, pizza, burgers/fries, etc. If you are trying to eat healthy with a large selection- at an affordable price than True Food is the spot. True Food offers healthy food made in a reasonably quick amount of time too and you can call an order ahead of time. They have truly original recipes as well, I am a regular customer and I would recommend it to anyone! They also opened up True Food Market next door where you can do grocery shopping to bring home really quality stuff that you can't find anywhere else. read more

My wife and I just ordered 2 chicken quesadillas on gluten free wraps, two small gf chocolate muffins, and a small lentil soup.. just under $30 (which is a bit on the pricey side). but never mind the price.. woah how fresh and filling these perfect size quesadillas were. Was visiting my daughter and was so happy to find this little place for breakfast. The gluten free options are amazing. We all loved the slow cooked porridge and homemade sourdough toast. I went here because I'm on a Ketogenic diet and wanted to eat healthy. The quality of the food was good, not exceptional, but good. I understand that organic and natural foods cost a little more (I'm an Organic food sales rep), therefore you have to charge a little more, but for the amount you get here the prices are crazy. I ordered the cheese burger. It comes on a bun or on a bed of greens. I opted for the greens as I'm staying away from carbs. While the burger was flavorful and good quality, it was about an inch and a half across and very thin. About 1 and a half bites of meat. And it set me back $10.25. It comes with no sides so I got a small price of kale, onion frittata from the hot bar. That was about a 1"x1" square of what tasted like powdered eggs and kale, and it cost me over $3.00. My whole meal with tax was $16.79 for about four bites of very average organic food. Oh and I drank water, if I had got a drink my meal would have been upwards of $20. The interior is small, but nice, the girl at the counter was friendly enough. My company paid for my meal since I'm on business so the cost is ok this time, but I left very hungry.
