Their treats seem to be heavily influenced by Hawaiian and Vietnamese flavors, like their best-selling rainbow cake and Vietnamese coffee tres leches. Their menu is limited but everything I've tried so far has been amazing. 1. Believe it or not, the rainbow cake here is just as phenomenal as the famous paradise cake from Kings Hawaiian in Torrance. That's actually what led me to The Wild Whisk's doorstep - I wanted to find the unique cake someplace closer to home because I refuse to trek all the way out to Torrance again, not when gas prices are what they are now. Anyways, the rainbow cake is an exquisite light chiffon cake with layers of guava, passionfruit, and key lime. The flavors were subtle and in perfect harmony, complemented by the light whipped cream. This is such a unique type of cake that you won't find at most bakeries, so I highly recommend trying it here. 2. I also purchased their ube cake, and it was good but it had a strong coconut flavor - which doesn't usually appeal to me, so I won't be getting this one again. 3. The basque cheesecake was delicious with it's dark caramelized top and rich and creamy center. I love basque cheesecake because I'm not a fan of the usual graham cracker crusts in cheesecake, and I would always forgo that part. With basque cheesecakes, I don't have to! Anyways, all of that to say I've tried alot of different basque cheesecakes and the one here is utter perfection. 4. This place is easy to miss! It's near a busy road and sometimes there's no parking in front, but visiting is worth it. I ended up buying a lot of sweets when I visited for the first time. I love furikake chex mix, and theirs is the perfect ratio of sweet and salty (it would be even better if they added some cashews or almonds). Their cookies are chunky, soft, and chewy, but not in a underbaked way. My favorite was the browned butter chocolate chip cookie. I also got a slice of the Ube cake and a banana cream pie. The ube cake was "not too sweet" and had good ube flavor. The banana cream pie had an interesting crust... not sure if I liked it, but the filling was great. Super cute unassuming bakery in the outskirts of Alhambra. The staff is friendly and offered me some free samples. I sampled the ube haupia and butter mochi. I would describe wild whisk as having a Hawaiian theme with a Latin flare. Item prices range from $6-$7. What I bought: Hawaiian Chex mix 5/5 Vietnamese coffee tres leches 5/5 Banana cream pie 3/5 My favorite item was the Chex mix, it's sweet, savory, with a Furikake aftertaste. The Vietnamese tres leches reminded me of a super moist tiramisu. The banana cream pie was good but a little too heavy for my taste. They even have pre made spam Musubis at the counter! I've been wanting to stop by The Wild Whisk for a while. While browsing their website for holiday desserts, I came across their tamales and decided to give them a try. I preordered about 15 tamales for Christmas Day - $3 each when you buy six or more ($3.25 normally). The store is quaint and owners were very nice and helpful. Love that their treats are inspired by their Hawaiian, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Mexican cultures. I usually find tamales to be dry with an uneven filling-to-masa ratio, but these were amazing and a huge hit on Christmas Day. Moist, flavorful, and the perfect ratio. I almost wanted to gatekeep this spot, but they were too good not to share. I also picked up a few dessert slices. The Basque cheesecake was out of this world, and I loved the tropical flavors of the rainbow cake. Glad I don't have make the trek to Torrance when craving paradise cake! I've pre-ordered online from The Wild Whisk a couple of times after a friend brought their Carrot Cake to a holiday party. I loved the carrot cake from the previous bakery in the same location, so I was fairly impressed by the Wild Whisk's. Their Churro Cheesecake was a hit to a holiday party I ordered for (didn't get a picture this time). Hubby & I loved their flan, not too sweet & very creamy consistency, caramel sits at the bottom of the flan. Wish they made it in bigger size. Also tried their Haupia Cake, which is ube and coconut layered - a bit on the sweet side but still good. My favorite bakery in the entire 626! I love its unique concept that blends Hawaiian, Vietnamese, and Mexican flavors into creative, thoughtful desserts. I truly haven't had anything I wouldn't order again. In fact, I enjoyed the items from my first visit so much that I returned the following weekend just to check off more items from my must-try list. Both the Vietnamese Coffee Tres Leches and Hojicha Tres Leches are incredible, with just the right amount of sweetness to balance the bold coffee and tea flavors. I'm also glad I don't have to drive all the way to King's Hawaiian in Torrance to get Rainbow Cake (key lime, lilikoi passion fruit, and guava), because they offer it here too and it's just as good! finally got around to trying this place. I've been seeing lots of post on my newsfeed. And it did not disappoint. It was the ube haupia that drew me in. They have a website where you're able to order and pre-pay with a set time for pick up. I was scrolling late in the evening and saw that most things said sold out but for pick up in the next morning, everything was back in stock. I pre-ordered the ube haupia cake slice, the individual Vietnamese, coffee Tres leches and an oatmeal raisin cookie for my neighbor. I arrived at pick up time when they first opened and noted that there was lots of street parking available. Not sure if there's parking in the back. it is a small storefront with a few tables inside and a bench and table out front. Everything was clean and near and visibly labeled. Staff was attentive and prepared my order. Ube haupia cake: delicious! I wish there was a little bit more Ube flavor. Ube doesn't have a strong flavor and most places have it very mild where it looks like it's more just purple than flavor. I could taste the haupia. I did like the small thin layers, but maybe one layer could've been an Ube filling layer to increase that flavor. 8/10 Vietnamese tres leches: great coffee flavor, not too strong, and the cake was light and airy, and definitely moist. Very light whipped cream and not too sweet. 9/10 Oatmeal raisin cookie: had a nice thickness and appears crunch to it. Since it's for my neighbor wasn't able to taste it. I'll have to ask her. Cute little Bakery on Vallley @ Fremont. I needed a birthday cake and wanted something unique and to support a small biz. I heard about this place on SGV eats and it did not disappoint. The owner is super sweet. I got a fresh rainbow cake made in a couple of hours. My family and I enjoyed this cake so much. Everyone asked where I got it. So happy I finally got to try this bakery! It's a little hard to spot, but it's worth trying - street parking only. The owner (I believe is Tracy) allowed me and my family to try a good amount of samples, so I can safely say that everything was delicious! I took home the churro cheesecake, guava cake, butter mochi, chocolate chip and walnut cookie, and Hawaiian chex mix. The flavors are inspired by her (Vietnamese-Chinese who grew up in Hawaii) and her husband's (Mexican) cultural background. I highly recommend checking this place out! Enough with the "fusion." If you know anything about baking & desserts these are very unsatisfying. Found desserts to be undercooked in places, unstable in others, and reaching to "reinvent" desserts that already exist better someplace else. If you like gimmicks and cannot taste the differences between foods/desserts then you probably won't care, others who spend their money wisely will spot the differences. It was moist and not too sweet, reminiscent of a tiramisu. Everyone loved it, especially as a lighter end to a hearty meal. Oh and the staff were nice and friendly. Note the hours though. Walnut choco chip cookie 4/5 $4.25 Inside is more fudgey, outside edge has some crisp but can benefit from more. the flavor throughout is yummy. chocolate pieces inside aren't too sweet and the tiny walnut fragments cling to your teeth lol. I liked how the chocolate was nicely soft and somewhat melted, you're not biting into hard chunks. Chocolate dobash cake 4/5 $5.5 Little bit more intense chocolate flavor than kings Hawaiian. If you're looking for chocolate, but not overkill this will scratch that itch. The aftertaste of the cake has a subtle bitterness to it, which bae liked. He said it was a chocolate cake for adults lol I did enjoy the cake more with some milk. For how rich this cake was (from the pudding), it felt like 3 people can eat a single slice. The slice was also quite tall, 4 thinnish layers with a slightly rich chocolate pudding. Had to park on the street and take a short walk to the store, no private lot. OMG!!! Seriously the best strawberry shortcake I have ever eaten is from this place! I'm always on the lookout, especially around my birthday for a strawberry shortcake. I love Whole Foods, Porto's & angel maid bakery but this place has moved into my number one slot for this particular cake. I may have never discovered it if it weren't for my friends bringing it over. The cake was perfectly made. It's a three layer cake with the perfect light cream, fluffy cake, and sweet strawberries. Stopped by during a weekday. It's a cute new bakery that just opened up. It's a grab and go type of place but does have a few seats if you want to sit down and enjoy your dessert. Met the owner Tracy when I came in. Love that they have samples of everything. I tried several items before purchasing. Everything I tried was so fresh because it's made in house. Ended up getting a couple slices of strawberry shortcake for my nephew. Got the Vietnamese tres leches and flan for myself. Really love that the tres leches cake was light and you could taste the Vietnamese coffee flavor but it wasn't overpowering. Flan is one of my favorite desserts. Had a bite of it and immediately decided to buy one to take home. I did sample the Hawaiian Chex mix but I didn't purchase it this time. Nice flavor and too salty or sweet. I came here at 10ish in the morning hoping to score a pre-made cake for a birthday celebration later that evening. They only had chocolate cakes available so I asked them was anything else coming out soon or if anything was being baked in the oven. They told me that since it was early I could actually pick any cake on their list and it would be done in a couple of hours if i didn't mind coming back to pick it up. I was blown away by that, how nice of them. The next thing that I asked was that I needed something that wasn't too sweet, so they said that probably the guava cake or rainbow cake would be best. I also wanted something more unique, so i asked them about their Vietnamese Coffee Tres Leches cake, and they said it woudln't be too sweet, but that it does have some caffeine in it, so i decided against that because i didn't want to keep my parents up, since were eating the cake at night time. They said in that case, the Hojicha Tres Leches cake would be more up my alley. They gave me a sample and it was delicious, airy light and not too wet and not too sweet (very important for asians lol). So I went with the Hojicha Tres Leches cake, they told me it would be ready about 2ish and they would call or text me when it was ready. They called me a 1 and told me it would actually be ready at 3pm because the cake needed to cool down before they could apply the frosting and the happy birthday decoration to the cake. The cake was a hit, my parents loved it ( not too sweet!), my niece who loves sugar , loved it. It was a banger. Oh if you dont know hojicha is roasted green tea so it has a like an earthy taste to it. Quite nice! Will definitely come back to try their other cakes. This was a nice find. As others stated, this is a Hawaiian bakery with a Hispanic twist serving Rainbow cake and Butter mochi mini loaves along with versions of Tres Leches. I've had their Butter Mochi mini loaf which was a perfect balance of mochi and flour for a smooth moist dessert. The rainbow cake was absolutely 5 star and tops King's Hawaiian. No more traveling out to South Bay. We got our own here in the SGV. Service was great and the small foot print is so cute inside. I saw that they have shave ice so I've got to try that next time. Was able to sample a few of their items and they festively served really cute Easter cupcakes! I ordered the carrot cake, which ended up being one of the best I've ever had. The frosting was not too sweet and the cake was perfectly moist and fresh. I also snagged a bag of their popular hawaiian chex mix. I wanted to try their vietnamese coffee tres leches but was already stuffed so I'll have to come back next time. Came here for their grand opening weekend and I'm super grateful they had pre-order! I didn't know there was a bakery located here until my friend told me about it. I preordered the Chex Mix, Chex Mix Marshmallow Bars, Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie, Browned Butter Walnut Cookie, and Butter Mochi. I was able to find street parking in the residential area without any issues. When I arrived, there was a crowd lined out the door. They have a small patio out front. The wait time was kind of long, but they were generous enough to pass out samples while we waited. I didn't realize until after waiting 15 minutes and not really moving in line that you could walk in for pre-orders. I highly recommend ordering in advance to save time. It makes the most sense to me. Just make sure to flag someone down so they can get your order ready. The items I would come back for are the Chex Mix and the Chex Mix Marshmallow Bars. The Bugles and Sesame Furikake seasoning were a nice contrast to the sweetness of the Honey Comb cereal and Chex. The sweet and salty taste was delicious! The other items were good, but didn't stand out to me. Their large cookies were gooey and soft. The walnut is better than the Chocolate Chip because of the added texture. I've made butter mochi before and I expected it to be slightly warm. Even though I think a warm butter mochi would have been nice, I still enjoyed the crispy edge and the chewy middle. read more
