    Fried Pork Egg Rolls

We arrived shortly after they opened and soon after we ordered, the restaurant filled up and there was a line out the door. That was a good sign. Food arrived quickly and service was prompt. Food was good and prices were fair. Restaurant had a friendly atmosphere and the only downside for an always busy restaurant is that there is only one bathroom.

Had dinner with my husband and son while in the area. My husband was craving pho so I found them on Yelp while in the area. It had good reviews so we came. The wait list was closed on Yelp so we had to sign in at the restaurant. It took 25 minutes to get a table on a busy Sunday evening ( around 5pm) The service was friendly and fast. Our food came out within ten minutes. It took us longer to decide what to order lol .... The pho was good. We got the beef one and enjoyed it much. The rolls were my most favorite. So delicous. The sandwich was pretty good but I wouldn't recommend the beef stir fry we got. Dry and no falvor, beef and onions over plain rice. Small portion. Other than that everything else we enjoyed. The ambiance is cool, small but nice everyone enjoying their food.

The Hu Tieu with crab claw and shrimp was good. Comforting Vietnamese noodle soup with seafood.

We came by around 11:30a on a Friday and came upon the recommendation of a good friend. They were fairly busy but thankfully, we got seated quickly. Our server was prompt at taking our orders as well. Out of the three dishes, both the bahnmi and egg rolls were stellar. I want to state that both were the best I've eaten! The bahnmi bread was so good, the beef portions so generous and the taste, delicious! The egg rolls were also so crunchy and filling. The pho was well-rounded/decent; this is just a preference but I'm used to more soup and less noodle in my pho. One star is taken off because of the restaurant facility- it is not conducive to families with children. The space inside is tight and often, I thought I'd bump into someone if I leaned back a tad too far. We also brought our newborn and there was barely space to park our stroller. There is no changing station in the restroom either. I'd definitely like to come back for the food but would have to think twice about it before I recommend to friends with little babies-

I've been coming here for years. This is one of those locations that always has a line out the door. It's highly recommended to come here before the rush if you don't like to wait, or order take out instead. The restaurant itself is pretty small inside but probably has about 10-15 tables. Despite the small size of the restaurant, the good news is the high turnover. The food comes out so fast and it's like every patron/customer knows to sit down, order, eat, and get out ASAP lol The parking lot is also pretty small when factoring in Golden Deli and the other businesses in that plaza. Overall, it is a nightmare to park here. Take your chance and you may find a spot, however you'll likely have to stalk people to their car. Street parking is an option though. The main reason for coming here are their egg rolls. I don't know what type of love they put into it but it's the best egg roll i know. They probably deep fry these things in fat or something! I always get an appetizer of just egg rolls but luckily, they also have a lot of entrees that come with a side of their egg rolls. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

This review is long overdue but Golden Deli is THE Vietnamese food spot whenever I'm in the area. From their pho to com tám, they are just solid across the board. Lots of different pho options, but usually just go simple and get the pho tai. Broth is flavorful and meat is tender. I've never had to do this, but you can also request leaner cut beef and lighter broth as well. If I'm not feeling pho, I'm also a fan of the bun rieu. Love the savory broth coupled with all the vegetables and tomatoes. Menu is huge though so theres something for everyone. If we're feeling extra hungry, we'll also order a side of egg rolls which are just made to perfection. The size per egg rolls is huge and they make them incredibly crispy. Also comes with assortment of vegetables like lettuce and cucumbers where you can make a little egg roll salad wrap. There's also an option to include egg rolls with your rice dish sort of like a combo too if you don't want a full side order. This place can get crowded. It's super popular and the lot isn't super huge. You can put down your name on the iPad and front and they'll text you when your table is ready. The turnover of the tables is pretty quick though.

Visited Golden Deli recently, which is a San Gabriel Valley institution for Vietnamese food. Ordered the Pho Dac Biet, which is a large combination pho that has ribeye, brisket, tendon and tripe. I thought this was more on the solid than spectacular side. The noodles were good, the meat was solid, but the broth was a bit bland and could have used more flavor. The good thing is that it wasn't too heavy. Also ordered the fried pork egg rolls, which are almost always impossible to mess up at a Vietnamese spot. Spring rolls were good as well. Service here is of the typical Asian variety, as you have to flag someone down to get their attention. But they do move very quickly to fulfill your requests. As expected with such a popular place, there can be a bit of a line. They do use Yelp waitlist, but it was closed on the app so we had to check in at the restaurant. I can see why this place is an institution. Obviously better pho elsewhere, but this definitely gets the job done!

On a Saturday morning in early March, my sister and I came here to eat egg rolls and pho. We arrived when the restaurant opened 10am and some of tables were filled. We sat in the booth and we ordered egg rolls and beef brisket pho. The egg rolls were nicely fried and big in size. I took a bite and the egg rolls hit the spot. Then the pho arrived and it was huge in size. The pho broth tastes so yummy of umami flavor. The brisket was tender and I was able to finished the whole bowl. More customers arrived and the place was full. The staff are nice and quick in service.

Welcome to Golden Deli Vietnamese Restaurant.

Golden Deli is a Vietnamese food joint in SGV. They have been providing bowls of phở, crackly egg rolls, and other Vietnamese classics for 40 years. This casual, family-run restaurant is one of the best in the San Gabriel Valley. I have known and pass by this spot copious times for the past six years; never had the audacity to dine-in until now. We were fortunate that we didn't wait to be seated given its popularity. I came late afternoon for a late lunch. Their food and drink menu was vast and it took me a long time to read the entire menu. I end up with my usual Vermicelli Chicken x Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Both food and drink were alright. I was still hungry after devouring my scrumptious meal. Service was really quick. Staff were competent and assiduous. Prices were reasonable. Atmosphere was noisy. Overall, I had a modest-in and out-experience.

This spot has been around for quite some time. I ordered the beef vermicelli bowl with an egg roll. The egg rolls were crispy and good, but the bowl seemed a bit smaller and not as well balanced of lettuce and bean sprouts to the noodles and meat. The fish sauce also wasn't as pungent and strong as what I've had elsewhere. Overall it's still a solid place to try if you're looking for Vietnamese food.

highlights: - nem nuong rolls were INCREDIBLE - key was the pickled carrots and daikon - bun bo nuong was kinda bland - server said they're known for pho, maybe will try next time - came on a thurs around 12 and had to wait 10-15 min - they need bigger bowls - if you come on weekend, expect to wait

Order banh mi for the first time to try today and i got the cha banh mi with egg. The bread is huge but soft ... they already preadd the pickled carrots and raddish. Theres no pate and they use regular mayo as well. They gave soysauce packets and it worked really well for the cha egg banh mi. Still like their noodle soups better

Always a solid Vietnamese food place in the area! We usually always get the pho noodles but it was pretty hot outside so we went with a vermicelli dish & rice dish with a side of egg rolls. Very delicious meal & the food came out super fast! I would say within 10 meetings of being seated, we already ordered and had our food! Highly highly recommend

Ask the Community - Golden Deli

Are they open right now? On Yelp said closed/special hours. I been looking the past couple days. Hours said closed but next day you checked it said open 10am-8am. I am so confused!

Before the holidays, Golden Deli had signs in the restaurant saying it would be closed from mid-December through early January. I don't know the date they'll return; I came here to see if someone posted the dates.

I love anything with rice noodles and Vietnamese flavors, but I unfortunately developed physical allergies to gluten and MSG. Are there any (if so, which) menu items that can be made without MSG and gluten (wheat/flour, soy sauce, etc.)?

The staff is incredibly helpful - I would check with them and see what dishes are able to be made GF.

Do their egg rolls have shrimp or is it just pork?

    Hi, only pork

Does golden deli have a drive thru. I swear ive seen one?

Nope. They most definitely do not have one at this location which is a squeezed tight strip mall lot.

Do you have any outdoor seating amid the pandemic?

    No outdoor seating

Are they open for dine in now?

Yes, but they are off from 10/1 to 10/15, will reopen at 10/16......

Is Golden Deli open on Thanksgiving day?

Doubt it but call them. If not, go tomorrow ;)

When you order takeout are the noodles for the pho cooked or can we request for them to be uncooked so I can cook them at home to prevent them from clumping together?

I always request it uncooked for that very reason. They are always more than happy to accommodate.

Any word on when you might open for dine-in again? It's been a long time, and a big bowl of your Pho Tai would REALLY hit the spot!

With how cases are rising we cannot determine the time on when we will reopen for dine-in. We will continue with take out for the time being

Are you offering crib side pick up and online orders, similar to STONEFIRE grill?

Due to high volumes of orders and setup we do not provide curbside pickup, our temple city location, is the closest thing to it. It is facing the street, you can pull up, but you still need to get out and pay at the front entrance

I know dine-in is prohibited now but are you guys closed for takeouts?

nobody there to take orders. The restaurant is dark now.

Does the chicken pho have bones in it?

    Yes the chicken is deboned.

Does anyone know why they're temporary close?

At certain times of the year they close for two weeks for vacation.

Is something going on at the restaurant right now? I've called multiple times to place a pick up order and no one is answering.

They're closed for the whole month of October, but will reopen November 1st.

How many people can sit in your Restaurant?

You can probably fit a party of 8 to 10 but the lines are always so long... I imagine you would have a hard time fitting a large party.

Is this place closed? New address?

They close for 3-4weeks every year for vacation, usually at the end of Summer this year it was October. They are back open now.

Is there a minimum to use credit cards?

Even if there is. The minimum usually is $10, surely you'll order more than that.

    Is it still cash only?

    We take card as well

Do they sell party trays and how far in advanced do i have to give them?

Yes they do, you'll have to call for additional information about when the order will be ready

Since they apparently sell cupcakes, do they do anything for birthdays?

I think you can call and try to arrange something but as they are very popular and seem to always be trying to turn a table, I wish you luck. I have noticed that availability of cupcakes is hit or miss

Worth the Parking Struggle!…read more The only downside to trying this new spot? The parking! We thought Summer Rolls in Temple City had a rough parking situation... this one somehow topped it! Around 7 PM, the plaza was absolutely packed with so many cute restaurants, so we ended up parking on the street. Thankfully, dinner made the extra walk completely worth it. We're huge Summer Rolls fans, so I've been wanting to try this place since it opened, and tonight was finally the night! #36 Charbroiled Pork Shoulder with Shrimp Cake & Shredded Pork $16.50 Rating: 9/10 Let me tell you... the char on this pork was phenomenal! It had that beautiful smoky flavor that only comes from perfectly grilled meat. Huge kudos to the chef because this was honestly one of the best charbroiled pork dishes I've had. Not too much fat in it, so it was perfect. But can we also take a moment to appreciate the broken rice? I'm usually not the biggest rice dish person because most places simply serve regular steamed rice... but this broken rice? It could honestly un-break a broken heart. It was light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. It paired so perfectly with that smoky pork that I found myself finishing every last grain without even realizing it. And one more thing... BEWARE of the spicy sauté sauce! I repeat... do NOT scoop a giant spoonful onto your rice or your Bún Bò Huế like I confidently did with my 2 spoonfuls of rice since we were sharing! That thing has some serious kick! But once my taste buds recovered... wow, it hit HARD in the best way possible. It added so much depth and flavor that I kept going back for more. I've honestly never had a Vietnamese spot with a spicy sauté sauce quite like this, and it definitely hit the spot! Although it isn't your traditional cơm tấm loaded with all the usual sides, this restaurant puts a more modern spin on the dish. There may be fewer components on the plate, but every bite was packed with flavor. I'd honestly rank their charbroiled pork even above Summer Rolls, and that's saying a lot! #5 Nem Spring Rolls $14.00 Rating: 9.5/10 If you're coming here and skipping these... you're doing yourself a disservice! The spring rolls and their crack sauce are still every bit as amazing as I remember. I've been eating at the original Nem Nuong Ninh Hoa across from Rosemead High School since 2009, and it honestly makes me so happy that this family-owned business has kept the same incredible recipe all these years. Over 20 years later, they've truly mastered it, carrying the recipe into Summer Rolls & now Nem. Love this family dynamic secret. I even met the owner, Mai, during our visit. We both looked at each other and laughed because we thought the other looked familiar. Maybe it's because I've been coming to the original location since my high school days! She was incredibly sweet and welcoming, which made the experience even better. As much as Summer Rolls has been our go-to these past few years... I think they're going to have to share the spotlight now. We'll definitely be coming back because my mission is officially to work my way through this entire menu! The service was warm and friendly, the restaurant is modern, beautiful, and spotless, and overall this was such a wonderful experience. Happy eats!

That's right, 5 minutes. Although I did go around 9:50AM so there wasn't a line nor another party in the dining area. Food: I woke up craving Vietnamese and this place didn't disappoint. The Bon Rieu had the depth of flavor that I crave. Honestly, I judge most Vietnamese pho restaurants by their Bon Rieu because some places simply use seafood powder in their stock to fake it. What results is a very thinly flavored broth that has very little umami. Bon Rieu should have THE MOST umami of any soup dish because of its tomato and crab base. That's how you can tell if a place is cutting corners. The Nem Cuom is huge and the dipping sauce is generous. The House Special Tea is reminiscent of a passion fruit green tea from a boba place. Sweetened just enough to not be saccharine. Ambiance: Quite small. I believe one of their main issues may be parking during peak hours as it shares a tiny parking lot with many other businesses. HOWEVER, neighborhood parking is plentiful and just around the corner past the Sheridan Hotel and Starbucks. Round the corner and you'll find plenty of parking throughout the day.

We even asked them about it in the middle and it was checked on but we weren't updated and thought they had went ahead and cancelled it but it still came out. No biggy, we packed it to-go since we basically split the pho da biet. Food: Pho da biet (9.5/10): The pho was soooo delicious. It was meaty with a little bit of sweetness to it. This is one of the few places where I don't feel the need to sauce down my pho to enjoy it. There's a good amount of meat in here. If you're a tendon enjoyer, there's about 3 big chunks in here. I love the way they separate everything. If you order this, it comes with the stone bowl at no additional costs. They separate the noodles and ribeye on the side and let you "decorate" it yourself. There was also a good amount of noodles in here. Com tam (7.9/10): I thought that this one was just okay. We got the grilled pork and grilled pork chop and I thought that the meats were cooked perfectly. There was a nice char to the meats and it was seasoned deliciously. It came with a lot of rice and a side of soup to enjoy! I did enjoy this fish sauce more than the one that came with the egg rolls. Overall, I wish this dish came out the same time as the pho so we could've enjoyed it together. Cha gio/Imperial Rolls (7/10): I love egg rolls but this one didn't really stand out to me. It comes with a good amount of vegetables that you can use to wrap your egg rolls in. I wish the fish sauce that came with this was more salty. Maybe it was that day, but I couldn't really tell what was inside the filling. It was all mushed in together instead of different layers. The skin was very thin and crispy which I really liked!

Their prices have not changed in years and the portions remain the same versus shrinkflation. Their menu is not that big but it has your essential Vietnamese dishes. Today I ordered the banh beo bi, vermicelli with nem nuong and egg rolls, nem nuong coun and che ba mau. Banh beo bi are rice cakes topped with shredded pork. It comes with chilies and fish sauce for you to pour on top. The rice cakes are served warm and are super smooth and soft. The thai chilies it comes with are spicy so don't use too much. The vermicelli with nem nuong and egg rolls comes with a slab of meat and a whole egg roll. The bottom are the noodles and mix of veggie and herbs. The nem nuong is sweetened charbroiled pork that is grilled. Think of a sweet meat ball. The egg rolls are super crispy and filled with meat. The noodles go well with the fish sauce and there are a lot of veggies inside. The nem nuong coun is a spring roll that's wrapped in rice paper. It has the meat and lettuce wrapped inside and comes with a dipping sauce. I believe the sauce is made with ground shrimp. For $8 for 3 rolls it is a steal compared to other restaurants. If you are craving Brodards in OC this place can satisfy your craving. Their che ba mau which is a 3 bean dessert has a lot of beans inside topped with coconut milk and shaved ice. It is the person drink to finish your meal and it is not too sweet.

Com Tam is decent, rice texture is on point. Pork chop is marinated well but not enough lemongrass flavor, tender and not dry at all. Baked egg was good but not amazing, seemed like it missing shredded wood ear mushroom. Che Ba Mau by far hands down the worst I've had. Red bean wasn't soft, outer shell/skin was still pretty tough. Not much mung bean either after stirring it literally for about 4 seconds the mung bean basically disintegrated into the liquid. The liquid.. watered down skim milk, not a trace of coconut flavor anywhere. I didn't know you can mess up Che Ba Mau until I had it from here.

I ordered egg rolls and the Pho Dac Biet. The egg rolls came out first. Fresh from the fryer with lettuce, herbs and the nuoc mam/fish sauce. I ended up fishing that on my own (first meal of the day haha). I was wondering where my pho was. I flagged down the server and he seemingly forgot. He rushed to the kitchen to get that going and it came out within a few minutes. Broth check first. It was light and had flavor. Didn't need to add hot sauce or hoisin sauce. Dressed up the pho with the herbs and went at it. Finished that as well. Pretty extensive menu. Fresh food. Overall, a nice place to grab some Vietnamese food.

For our family of seven, we always call ahead and order their famous baked medium catfish the day before so it's ready when we arrive for our reservation. It's always the highlight of the meal. We also never skip the 7 Courses of Beef and usually order two sets for the table. Everything is delicious and perfect for sharing family style. What keeps us coming back, beyond the amazing food, is the warm and welcoming family atmosphere. The staff always make us feel at home and Kevin is hands down the best! He's friendly, attentive and always helps make our celebrations feel extra special. Great food, great service, and a place that truly feels like family. Our server, Kevin, truly made the night memorable. He is hilarious and charismatic, ensuring we were well taken care of while keeping everyone laughing throughout the entire meal. The food was fantastic, especially the large catfish we ordered along with several other dishes. A helpful tip for anyone planning a visit is to order the catfish in advance when you make your reservation, as it is a popular item that takes some time to prepare. The dining style is interactive and fun since you wrap your own rolls using the catfish and various meats accompanied by fresh vegetables and vermicelli. We were there celebrating a friend's birthday, and the staff was kind enough to keep our cake in the fridge until we were ready for dessert at the end of the night. Everything was delicious, and the service made the celebration even more special.
